HP 15 N027SA 480GB Sandisk Ultra II SSD Upgrade

Q: HP 15 N027SA 480GB Sandisk Ultra II SSD Upgrade

After installing a brand new Sandisk 480GB SSD, it was not recognised by the bios, so tried a 480GB Cructial SDD which also was not recognised, so put the orignal 1TB hard drive which works fine, the SSD worked fine previously in a DV7, what is the possible issue, as the N027SA is a later model?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Dell machine with Windows 7 installed and my sandisk drives (the 16G ones) will not work with their password protection in place. I have had to remove their password protection on another machine that runs XP. I would like to have them with their password protection intact to use on the new machine. Any ideas? I'm sure it's an easy fix that I am simply unaware of.

Hi I've edited this post to make users aware the Sandisk Ultra II SSD has issues with the 450 G3 in legacy mode.  It's simply not visible in the boot options under legacy only UEFI.  I have spent hours and hours and it doesn't work on a 240 and 480 gb models I have running the latest firmware.  I've posted messages on the Sandisk forums reporting the very likely bug. I think I'll stick to Samsung which 850 Evo works perfectly!

Found the following on the Sandisk website.

Other options you can use to read files on your SDHC card
If your computer's card reader is not SDHC compatible, you have 3 options available:

1. You can connect your camera (or other device) that works with SDHC to your computer using a USB cable that came with the camera. You should be able to transfer files to the computer this way.

2. You can contact your computer manufacturer to see if they have a free firmware update for your model that will make it SDHC compatible

3. You can buy inexpensive SanDisk SDHC card readers that will connect to your computer's USB port. Click to expand...

Hi all =). I'm getting a computer made with a 450w power supply. I'm getting a Geforce 6800 Ultra at least, but the company recommends a 480w supply for this card. I've heard of people having problems with their power supply not being able to cope with this card, but I don't know exactly at what power their power supplies ran. Will I run into any problems with the power supply I'm getting, or should I upgrade to 480w or more?

Don't know if you need this information also, but I think this may also effect my power supply:

Asus K8V SE Deluxe Motherboard
Athlon 64 3400+
1.5 GB pc3200 DDR Ram
120 GB HDD

Also heard that AMD uses less power than Intel or something...sooo I was thinking that perhaps my graphics card will not be affected as much because of this...but dunno. Help would be greatly appreciated =D.

A:Regarding Geforce 6800 Ultra, Ultra Extreme, or Asus v9999 Ultra Deluxe

One, Use a title once.

Two, nope nVIDIA GeForce 6800 families or newer REQUIRES 480w of psu minimum, PERIOD. it is not matter how much watts amd or intel uses, what you means that you must have 480w or higher to have GF 6800 working properly.

Recommendation, get ATI Radeon 9600XT or 9800XT, they merely used up less than 350w.

Lucan

You will get better games or things out of ATI instead of nVIDIA due to power usages

I just recently bought a dv7 7047cl that was a display model. I love the computer. The only non-standard addition is the Broadcom Bluetooth LAN combo adapter that I installed. My problem is this. I just bought my first SSD drive. Its a Sandisk Extreme SSD 240GB drive. I tried to install it but the BIOS would freeze about 9 out of 10 times rebooting the computer. No exaggeration. That 1 out of 10 time it would load and I would try to install Windows. Under standard Legacy settings for the DVD drive it cannot even see the SSD. Under UEFI settings it recognizes the drive and got so far as to install the Windows software but upon the first reboot it froze again. Windows install keeps telling me that there is a 100 MB MBT partition. Windows manager (with the drive hooked up via a USB to SATA adapter) tells me that the drive is healthy and not multiple partitioned. I used DISKPART in admin to clean the drive and on the USB cable it behaves like any other reliable drive. The moment I put it into the computer and hook it up internally my computer acts like its not there. The BIOS disk test tells me that there is no drive there. With my 1TB HDD the laptop behaves wonderfully but the SDD freaks it out. I looked at the maintenance sheet and it said that the computer supports SDDs up to 160 GB. Is that old information or will the BIOS only support 160 GB SSDs? If so, is there a workaround? Can I partition the drive to less than 140 GB and be able to boot from it?... Read more

Hey guys, i own a lenovo Y50 laptop and today i switched its SSHD to a much faster Crosair NEUTRON XL SSD.
The SSD is 480GB SSD, but when using Disk Menage and combining all the partitions and hidden partitions such as the system boot partition and system recovery partition, i only get 430GB instead of 480...
Where did 50GB went?

Also when using "MiniTool Partition Wizard" i tried to merge a D: partition to my C: drive,
the program restarted the PC and ran a DOS thing, but as soon as it load i get blue screen of death...

A:430GB instead on 480GB on an SSD?

Didn't go nowhere. You are comparing two different ways of determining drive capacity, one is the manufacturer's 480GB and the other is the formatted capacity which likely works out to 430GB. This has been the case since the beginning of storage devices and made marketing easier and wasn't much of an issue when drives were small. Neither is really wrong.

Anyways, read this: http://www.howtogeek.com/123268/windows-hard-drive-wrong-capacity/

Hey,

Any help would be appreciated in this matter. I installed a new intel 730 480gb SSD and after a clean install of windows I've been repeatedly getting BSODs. The usual codes are ndis.sys, win32k.sys, ntskrnl.sys. At first I thought it was a sound card issue (I use asus xonar dx) and I actually reverted from the latest drivers to unified drivers from 2011 and that seemed to fix the crashing for about 6 hrs, but the errors came back nonetheless.

Some interesting notes are that my friend who bought the Intel 730 SSD at the same time as me, let me borrow his to to run on my computer. I installed windows on his ssd w/ my system and the same errors occurred. So it makes me really believe its not a SSD issue as much as it is a hardware/installation drivers issue.

I did notice when I'm watching streamers on twitch.tv is when the crashes begin to occur. I tried updating my nvidia drivers / realtek networking drivers and whatever else. I've done the memtest86 with zero errors and I've also ran verifier.exe and the cpu test which all came back negative for errors. At this point I am really out of ideas and any help would be truly appreciated.

I know this has been discussed to death on this and other forums but bear with me.

Goal: To migrate boot and reserved partition of W7 pro install from WD 1tb ntsf format drive to 128 or 256 gb ssd without reinstalling OS.

My Problem: So far I defragged the boot drive and ended up with a 100mb reserved partition and the remainder of the drive a single boot partition with 60gb of data. I then attempted to shrink the boot partition down to less than 100gb but could only shrink it to 470gb because at that point defrag says that there is "reserved MFT" space. Sure enough sitting about half way through the partition is a non movable block. I did shrink the partition and now my boot partition is down to 470gb still only containing 60gb of data.

I proposed to W7 disk management that I shrink that partition and it now lets me shrink it by another 50% (down to 230gb) again. Perhaps 3 more shrinks will get me where I need to be (a 100gb boot partition with 60gb of data) but there must be a safer and simpler way.

Question: If I use one the freeware tools available such as Samsung migration tool or built in W7 tools will it recognize all the empty space on the boot partition and allow the migration or do I need to purchase a commercial product? My last choice is a clean install of W7 because of the hassles of authenticating my "upgrade" installation and re-installing programs. If clean install needed I will just stay with existing HDD.

Thanks in advance ... Read more

Does anyone know if I can upgrade my Compaq Presario Hard drive to 80GB Ultra ATA/133 @7200RPM? I'm running out of Hard drive space and constantly get a message saying that I have little space left. I have to constantly defrag my system and erase most of what I download off the internet. My computer is old and I think it only has about 30GB which most of my software takes up. I'm looking to turn my computer into a modern computer by updating my hard drive. Everything else works fine. I have great speed and hardly ever run into problems so I'm not looking to replace my computer just update it.

Thanks,

A:Can I upgrade my HD to 80GB ultra ata/133 hard drive?

That upgrade should be just fine, seeing as you already have support for 30GB hard drives, then 80GB will also work. You'll only have problems (depends on your system, which you haven't supplied details on) if you decide to go above 137GB, as that would require an ATA133 controller.

Most nForce4 based motherboards support such CPUs but not all of them do so out-of-the-box. Make sure to have a motherboard from the latest production batch. If not, it might be handy to have a single-core to flash the BIOS in case it doesn't want to power up with the dual-core one.

Gigabyte nf4 Ultra or DFI nf4 Ultra of MSI NEO4 PLatinum?

I will be running a system:

AMD 64 3200+ or 3500+

2 x 250Gb Seagate NCQ
LEadtek 6600GT Extreme
Tagan 480W

Now my question is, which board is faster, more stable, has better equipment ... ?

I will NOT overlock my system, so in the first place I need a motherboard that is stable and doesn't couse too much problems ...

Which of these two do you reccomend?

TNX!

A:Gigabyte nf4 Ultra or DFI nf4 Ultra

I'm pretty much building the same PC you are. I still need to decide on the videocard, either the 6600Gt or x700pro.

For the motherboard, I've decided to go with DFI. I haven't seen reviews comparing both, but they seem pretty much to deliver the same performances. I like the design of the DFI better, but the main thing that made me choose the DFI was the number of PCI-e slots. The gigabyte model has only 2 PCI-e 1x slots and 1 16x slot, DFI offers 1 1x slot, 1 4x slot and 2 16x slots. So I should be able to use PCI-e parts more easily in the next few years.

Feature wise, gigabyte offers 8 SATA ports(4 on 3.0Gb/s) while DFI has 4 on 3.0Gb/s only. Both seem to offer 10 USB ports and 2 lan connector.

There's not much difference specs wise, it pretty much comes down to who you trust more and price wise.

I plan placing an order for SanDisk Extreme PRO SSD 240 GB, after doing some research for both by desktop and laptop.

Your expert thoughts about them?

Would they be compatible with the desktop and laptop.......since they are SATA II and not III......both at the moment running WD Black and Blue?

Performed a clean install of W7 on both, would it possible to migrate when they arrive or shall have to reinstall again?

Thanks.

A:Sandisk SSD?

They will be compatible but will only run at SATA II speeds which is governed by your controller. It is possible to migrate your Windows installation (cloning, imaging) but if they're clean installs anyway you'd probably just be better off performing clean installs on the SSDs, it doesn't take long at all.

I can't comment on the drives themselves as I only use Intel and Samsung SSDs.

Sandisk is the brand name for a type of flash memory. Are you asking how to put music on a some type of flash memory disk in a way that will work with your cell phone? The best place to go for this information is your cell provider. They'll at least be able to point you to a manual that describes what memory and music formats are compatible with your phone.

I looked at a couple of older post on this subject, but none of them seems to fit my problem. I recently bought 2 each SanDisk brand SD 512 mb cards. Loaded up some photos from my computer. However, when I get about 217 mb on the card, it will not accept any more. I get a window that says "Cannot Copy(file # it stopped on): The directory or file cannot be created". I check the volume on the card and it has about two-thirds volume free at this time. I have formatted the card, but this does not help. I've tried several ways of loading; "Sent To", copy & paste, drag & drop, etc. Same results each time. Same problem with both cards. I have loaded the same photo's on a stick with no problems. The SD cards file system is FAT. Contacted SanDisk, but they don't seem to want to talk to me. My system is a Dell Laptop with XP, 2 gigs memory.

Any Ideas?

Hello,

I am using Canon PowerShot SD500 DIGITAL ELPH with a Lexar SD 1 GB memory card. Now the photographs that are taken on that card come out to be corrupt, how do I reformat the card and be able to use it with the camera still?

Is there a special program required to do such a thing?

I have the card reader already.

A:Formatting SanDisk

You should be able to format the card within the camera itself, go to menu, card setup and delete all pictures. To delete the pictures it formats the card.

i just got a sandisc cruzer titanium, and have already screwed up. i have windows ME, which i thought was supposed to have the driver already loaded. so when i plugged in the cruzer, it said it recognized new hardware, and then a new dialogue box flashed up saying that i needed to reinsert my millenium cd. while my husband went to look for that, i unfortunately clicked OK on the dialogue box, then "cancel", and now i will not even recognize the new hardware. I don't know what to do next. anyone familiar with this scenario?

A:i need help with my Sandisk cruzer

Go into Control Panel/System/Device Manager, and UNinstall anything to do with that Cruzer.
Reboot and insert it again, but this time don't interrupt!

I use this Memory card on my Sony Ericsson k850i and now it doesn't work anymore. I know there's nothing wrong with the phone caus I'm using a 512mb one thats the same brand. I try formatting it on the computer but it just says that 'Windows was unable to complete the format'. The phone doesn't read it anymore so I can't format it through there. When it's in the computer it says I have 1.12 gb worth of files in there but when I go into it there's nothing.

Any ideas how I can save it? Or is it dead? lol

A:Sandisk M2 2.0GB not working, help?

Flash drives, like hard disks, have two major components, a storage component and a controller component. A hard disk has platters and the hardware that run it and the stylus that reads it. Then there is the logic board, the circuit board on the bottom of the hard disk that controls the reading and writing of the disk

A flash drive has a memory chip and a controller chip. Most likely, the controller chip in your flash drive has gone south. If that is the case, your flash drive is now as permanently unreadable as a hard disk with a failing logic board.

The data may be recoverable but at great cost, usually $500 and up.

I have WINME
IMAGEMATE SDOR-75
256MB Sandisk

Until today I was able to view the pictures on my SanDisk with my Imagemate. Now it tells me to insert a disk in the drive which I have already inserted.. There is no further action available to view the pictures. I can't install a driver since a driver is not required for WINME.

Thanks

Burt,

Let me ask a silly question (based on my own experience) are you sure that the card is not flipped over....upside down?

Another Question...does the card still work in the camera?

i got this thing a couple weeks ago, and whenever i close my laptop (it says in Power Options closing the lid goes to sleep), it gets disconnected and says caching disabled. this happens every 2-3 times i close my laptop. help?

A:SanDisk HyperBoost

Have you tried to disable Sleep and Hibernate Mode?
Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options then click on the blue link "Change plan settings" and under "Put the computer to sleep" change it to Never on battery and Plugged in, then save changes. Once it takes you back to Power Options, on the left menu, click on "Choose what closing the lid does" and change them all to "Do nothing" and that should fix the issue. It did for me.

I have a SanDisk Firebird, and I'm running Windows XP SP1. When I plug in my USB drive, it immediately says that I need to format the drive. The little window that pops up says it's RAW, and and if I click Format, I get error message "Windows was unable to complete format". I have tried opening Disk Manager and the drive does appear as "Healthy" with RAW format but I can't format it, there's nothing about editing or deleting partitions, and the picture in the lower part shows the partition as striped while my working USB drive is shown with a solid white color. There is no "protect switch" and I don't get a message about write protection. I also can't find anything anywhere about the drive being read-only or otherwise. The driver is reportedly up to date. Should I just give up on it??

Try formatting it with this :- http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

Download the file, run it to install then run the program to format the Usb stick.

My testing of Windows 10 shows that the Sandisk Cruzer has no driver
in Windows 10 for it.
I have no idea how to send feedback to Microsoft so this can be added.

I have a buddy who handed me what a flashdrive, a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 2 GB with U3, that he said no longer worked for him. Well several hours later, I can't make it work either. When the flash drive is plugged into multiple computers (XP x 4, Vista x 1 even though Vista is NOT supported), the light on the drive flashes and the computer attempts to find the "cruzer mini" driver, which will eventually fail (the light on the drive will remain on indefinately, however). I look in Windows Explorer and Disk Management and the drive is not recognized. I look in the device manager and there is an exclamation point next to exactly one "USB Mass Storage Device." I said screw this and brought out my big gun Recover It All software for data recovery and *IT* doesn't see the device. Interestingly, when the device is plugged in the Safely Remove Software button becomes available, but when I click on it, there is nothing to select (which tells me, "yes I see something but I don't recognize it"). I've attempted to install Sandisk's WONDERFUL drivers but they won't install UNLESS IT CAN SEE THE DAMNED DRIVE, which it can't. Bottom line: u3 drives suck. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I wanted that to be excrutiatingly clear!

So here's my quesiton: I'm looking for suggestions on how I can force the recognition of a USB device that is not natively recognized by the Device Manager or Disk Management. Any ... Read more

Hi,

Recently I bought a few Sandisk Extreme 64GB flashdrives. I checked the drives with h2testw. It was a bit slower than the other drives. So I clicked „Properties“, it displayed FAT 32.
Formatting displayed exfat, 128kb and NTFS, but not FAT 32. I started „Formatting“. After this the drive was even much slower.
Done that on Win8.1. Why is not FAT 32 displayed? Is formatting the problem and the drive broken?
Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

I have a casio lk-210 lighted keyboard that will not format a 1 gb sandisk sd card. All you are suppose to do is insert it and push the format command button and it should work. It responds ERR file, which is wrong because I have have 10 songs in the file. Both the keyboard and sd card arrived only 1 day ago, so everything is new, at least to me.
Thanks,
Moe

A:Sandisk SD Card

Did you ever see one work that way with a keyboard? I don't think so.
Have you tried just using normal OS commands to do this. Have you tried reading the online directions that come with the San Disk.
