F11 gets pressed automatically. Windows flickers

Q: F11 gets pressed automatically. Windows flickers

My computer has started going insane and seems to have f11 being pressed constantly, which toggles the fullscreen on and off repeatedly and endlessly- effectively making my computer unusable .
I have to press escape to stop the filckering ( toggling between normal and full screen mode continuosly) It stops temporarily and then starts again.

A lot of people have similar problem but there is no solution given on any forum.
On this forum too there were a couple of such posts with no replies.

Preferred Solution: F11 gets pressed automatically. Windows flickers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

From the last 2 days, I suddenly started noticing a very weird issue. When I pressed the delete key once, it automatically kept deleting for infinity until I pressed that key again or some another key on the keyboard. Also, sometimes, it automatically keeps pressing itself even if I didn't press the delete key even once. The laptop is G50-80 (not sure about how to see the model number). Any help is much appreciated.

Hi
Recently we have had a strange issue. We are ruining windows 7 and on few systems it automatically presses the Ctrl key. It is not possessed through keyboard (physical as well as virtual keyboard).. It happens in itself.

Windows is updated with latest updates.

Same goes for the keyboard drivers.

A:Ctrl key is pressed automatically randomly itself

OK, I've got to ask....

Are you saying that you can see the CTRL key being pressed by a spirit or poltergeist, or that a function that is usually controlled by pressing the CTRL key is happening without pressing the CTRL key?

If it's the first thing then call your local news organization.

If it's the second thing, please describe exactly what is happening that leads you to this observation. What you've given us so far is not much to go on.

I assume you have checked the physical keyboard for a stuck key?

A:it seems like down arrow key is pressed and hold automatically and tapping on touchpad do not work

I have the same problem. I press the UP ARROW key once the laptop completes booting. This solved the down key lock problem. I started hearing the beep sounds when I upgraded to windows 10. When I went back to windows 7 the beeping stopped during boot up but the down key problem exists. I am thinking of downgrading to XP to see if the noise problem and the keyboard works. I hope its not due to my ram upgrade.

Hi,
I have noticed this issue only with built-in Dell's keyboards (working fine at different laptops or with external keyboard) - Precision 4400 and Inspiron 7566.
While playing a racing game when I hold a key to accelerate (whatever it is, tried many) and when I press second one to turn, once for a while - sometimes 1 minute after start, sometimes 5 - it's getting interrupted for around a half of a second (so I drive straight for this short period of time).
I have tried to disable as many services as I can, turned off anything I could and I'm still getting it, installed all drivers I have found

I am currently traveling for work and I am using my personal, HP laptop to connect back to my office, via Cisco VPN. When connected to the tunnel, I am able to launch MSTSC to access my machine back at the office without issue on that end.

The problem I have noticed is that, when switching back and forth between my remote desktop session and my local desktop, the operating system seems to think that the Windows key is pressed on my local keyboard. So, when typing any hotkeys that would be active, such as "u," "e," or either of the "up" or "down" keys, Windows responds by launching Explorer, Ease of Access, minimizing/maximizing the active window and so on.

I have done several searches on the web and found that I am not alone in this issue, but I have yet to find any type of resolution. I am unaware as to whether or not Microsoft knows that this issue exists.

The operating system on my laptop is Windows 7 Pro and the OS on the machine I am connected to through remote desktop is Windows 7 Enterprise. According to some of the links I've found on the web, this has also occurred when the local OS is XP and the remote OS is 7.

My system specs are in my profile. Any information or helpful tips are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A:RDP Makes 7 Pro Think Windows Key is Pressed

No reply to this old thread, but following is offered for others who land here looking for a workaround (aka MS solution)...

This happens to me when the RDP session is focused and I lock the local workstation with "win + l" (lower-case L)...

Upon logging back onto the local workstation, keys would behave as if the windows key was pressed as well.

Microsoft solution is to use one of the following:
1. Use "ctrl+alt+del" and select "lock this computer".
2. Use the start menu and select "lock"
3. Ensure focus is other than the RDP session, then use "win+l".

I feel the above are workarounds, but I have been using number 3.

Hope this helps, especially for anyone else that has landed on this thread.

the reset button was pressed while the windows bootscreen was on.

when the comp was starting back up, it would not boot into windows, i saw a bit of the bootscreen with the bouncing light going back & forth then after one second i recived a black and white screen talking about the power going out or the reset button being pressed while a previous bootup attempt was happening.

it told me to boot into normal mode if either of the above happened.

i tried normal booting into normal,
safe with networking,
safe,
last known good config.
and there might of been another option, i tried them all.

after each one of them is selected, i get the same warmly worded error screen and the different boot options.
same events, a bit of the windows xp pro loading screen then the boot choices.

i searched online and allover microsoft's sites and i found nothing even related to this issue.

the black and white screen i spoke of talks of the problem and its fixable, it even mentions the reset button being pressed during the boot of windows, but once i follow its directions to simply choose a boot method and restart, it still does not boot into windows and gives me the black and white screen again.

My system: HP dv7 Pavilion laptop; W7 SP1 Ultimate; dual 750GB; 8GB DRAM

I use EasyBCD 2.2 to dual boot off of either HD (slim W7 and regular W7).
The partitions not involved in the system I am running (boot, recovery, os) I do not assign a drive letter to.

Here's what happens every now and then:

Windows Explorer will starting flickering drive H: on / off (as if trying to access one of the partitions that does not have a drive letter assigned). There is a lengthy error message on the screen which disappears, then it reappears, disappears, endless loop. Windows Explorer is essentially unusable when this happens with drive H: coming and going every second or two. Drive letter H: is the first free available one in my configuration so nothing special there.

If I can corral DiskMgmt and get it to load and then ASSIGN a drive letter to the problem partition the problem eventually goes away after a reboot or two. Windows Explorer is then stable.

It used to be only the Boot partition on the running Win 7 drive caused this problem.

Recently the RECOVERY partition started doing the same thing. That went away by itself. For now.

But now the boot partition on the non-booted copy of Windows - same thing (aka "SYSTEM" below).

My layout (attached as JPG)

A:Windows 7 Win Explorer gets the jitters; drv letter flickers on/off

It looks like both drives are booted off of Y which should not have a drive letter to avoid anything writing to it. So W serves no purpose, should not be Active (pointing to the intended System partition) and may be interfering.

With separate hard drives the best way to boot them is to install with the other unplugged, then afterwards boot your choice via the BIOS Boot Priority menu and one-time BIOS Boot menu ESC key. You can still install Easy BCD to the Primary hard drive set to boot first to add the other to a Windows Dual Boot, keeping each independently bootable as well.

So you must have not done this and as a result W has been cut out as the System partition for Disk1, or else it would be marked System now that you are booted into Disk1 but the System flag is quite clearly on Disk0.

To correct this I would mark W Inactive so that it is not queried by the BIOS and possibly interfere. Remove drive letters from W and Y to test this.

We can also help you make W the System partition booting Disk1 again if you want, achieved by running Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times with all other drives unplugged. Then boot your choice via the BIOS, or reconfigure another Windows Dual Boot menu with EasyBCD from the Primary (first booting) drive, but this time one which will keep either drive independently bootable.

I'm running a Lenovo Thinkpad, T500 - I've had my T500 for close to a year, now, and it's been pretty good to me up until recently:

For a week or two, it attempted to randomly shut itself down in the middle of running processes, an issue that hasn't come up for a while, though I'm not entirely sure how I fixed it - if I fixed it at all

But more recently, I've noticed that if I watch something in windows media player, minimizing / maximizing WMP causes the entire screen to flicker.

Flicker, as in, the entire screen goes black for a couple seconds, and then I can see again. The odd thing about this is that it only happens when the video is actually playing - if I have the video paused, the screen will not flicker.

It's not a major problem, and it's something I can ignore - but it makes me wonder if there's anything else with my laptop that's going to decide it wants to work as well.

Any ideas, guys?

A:Lenovo T500: Windows Media Player Flickers?

Update: I download the DivX player, and it happens on that player as well.

When I open the video, the screen goes black, then partially comes back, then goes black again, then comes back for half a second, then goes black again - it happens 3-4 times every time I open a video file.

This also happens whenever I minimize/un-minimize the video whenever it's playing.

Bah. Any ideas at all?

Hi there,

I have had this problem for awhile - the screen dims and brightens, dims and brightens, constantly, but in the past this would occur briefly and on reboot be fine for several months. I am using the high performance power setting and it happens whether I am plugged in or running on battery. My screen res is 1280 x 800 and the refresh rate is 60 hz (the Intel graphics media accelerated driver for mobile interface does not seem to allow me to change the refresh rate!?).

This week this has become a constant problem. It seems to have started after I downloaded an updated Intel wireless driver. The only things other recent changes are that I recently went through a thorough and successful malware removal process using the forum here, and, since then Windows (and possibly unrelated), on shutdown and startup, attempts to install updates, but this process fails (I assume it fails because it attempts to update every single time, with the same message, which I will try to get down and edit into this post on next shutdown/login).

Here are my pc/op system specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium (on an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop)
Copyright 2007
Service Pak 2
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.5 Ghz
2.0 GB RAM
32 bit operating system
Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family

Let me know if there is other information that would be useful.

Thanks!

Another possible cause is tangled cables; I'm trying to motivate myself to check this. In conclusion, I found that degaussing the monitor worked for a while but requires repetition. I should add that I have a rather old CRT monitor.

For some users of Windows 10, screen flickers and explorer.exe crashes are making the new OS unusable. Microsoft is blaming incompatible 3rd party applications. Three apps have been officially tagged as culprits: Norton Antivirus, iCloud, and IDT Audio.

Microsoft's offered solution is to boot Windows 10 into Safe Mode and simply remove these apps if you have them installed. However, Symantec would like that you not remove its Norton Antivirus product completely for obvious reasons, so the company has provided detailed steps on how to accomplish the Safe Mode boot, apply a special Screen_Fix.exe tool, and then reinstall Norton Antivirus.

I just found the following. May prove to be useful to some.

"You have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. You configure Windows Media Player 12 to display subtitles when you play a DVD. However, the video image flickers every time that a new line of subtitle is displayed."

I have a windows 7 32 bit. Acer Aspire 5920G.

The screen started flickering about a week ago. It happens randomly. When I use my browser, open documents, run programs or even while on desktop.

I have already looked around on youtube, google and on the forum here. I've tried to change the screen resolution, change text size and adjust the screen refresh rate but it is automatically on 60 hertz and has not other options. None of these options helped.

I have not downloaded any programs recently, meaning I do not think it's because of a software added. I did run CCleaner, Bitdefender antivirus and a spyware/malware check, but to no avail.

It flickers as soon as I adjust the screen manually.

Let me know if I have posted on the wrong thread.

Thanks

I've got the same issue and HP was of no help.  In fact,  support got on my machine and 15 minutes later they gave up and said they don't support the VT configuration and left me stranded.  I too believe it is Intel graphics issue.  It's a very nice box but poor support from HP (expected).

Hello,

I will attempt to describe this problem , starting with a picture.
pic 1
pic 2

Everything becomes white, with grey blocks , and nothing is displayed properly. This problem occurs every couple of hours, to which i respond with a restart. Everything i click ( while in the crash situation) becomes "bugged" as well. The one thing i can do is Ctrl+Alt+Del which opens a normally looking menu , however, starting task manager doesn't work, logging off/in also does not fix it. How do i fix this.To my best guess, the problems started after i installed some games, which i no longer play and uninstalled , but it might as well be something completely different.

Here is also a youtube video of what the situation looks like :
Win7, Visual Bug - YouTube

My specifications are Win7 Ultimate x64, Acer Asire7740, Ati Radeo mobility HD5470,
i use Google Chrome , i have all functioning drivers , updated Windows, and Microsoft Security Essentials is OK.

A:Windows visually crashing. Screens becomes white/gray and flickers.

3 things:
1.) Replace video cord to monitor. vga-dvi-hdmi
2.) Monitor is dying: Try another monitor
3.) Graphics card in the pc is going, get a new graphics card.

My Windows Explorer flickers when clicking on "restore down" button then freezes on Windows 7. It stopped after performing a check disk but came back. How can I get rid of this, it is consuming a lot of memory. Many thanks.

PS:"Restore down" is the little box in the upper right hand corner situated between the "Minimize" box and the "Close" box.  The "Restore down" box has a picture of one screen superimposed and offset to the upper
right over another screen.  The "Minimize" box has a picture of a flat line and the "Close" box has a big X in it.

Hi,
Please check if other windows have this issue when clicking this button.
In Windows Explorer, please check if there is any extensions or add-ons, if so, please disable it. Please also try the following:
FIX: The Explorer.exe process stops responding (hangs) when you use Windows Explorer that hosts a shell extension that was created by using MFC

In addition, please boot to safe mode and see if the issue occurs. If not, please check it with clean boot:

hi!

i will try to explain my problem the best i can:

every 3-5 minutes or so, the main window that i'm working in (doesn't matter which program im running, but usually firefox/msn messenger, etc..) stops being the "top" window, and instead goes to the background - as if i opened another internet explorer window on top of it.

this "glitch" is always followed by something even more strange - the sound gets cut off, and if i check the meters in volume control i always find the "wave" meter to be on minimum, and i have to put it back in the middle.

WHAT THE HELL???

can you please help?

A:HELP! i get sudden "jumps" between windows as if i pressed alt-tab... ????

Do you have a wireless mouse ?

When I see this, it's because the wireless mouse battery is failing, and the mouse turns on & off, so the cursor jumps around.

I was trying to turn up the volume by pressing Fn and then F4 but i accidentally pressed F5. This notice came up saying LCD mode only. Then the whole screen changed. It is now slightly zoomed in but squashed. The top of say Internet Explorer has gone wierd and is no longer seethrough like you can make it on Vista. Ive tried restarting the system. I could really really do with some help on how to reverse this back to normal. Any help?

Hello! today a friend of mine sent me a messege in facebook telling me that someone stole my facebook profil and he also included a zip so pressed on the zip saved it to my computer opened it but nothing happened it showed me a black box with some letters for a split of a second and then it dissappeared, as if it couldn't open.  So I asked my friend what that was and he said that he diddn't sent it that it was sent automatically to me and that it was a virus and not to open it. But I did so I tried to erase it and I did erase the folders inside the zip but I couldn't erase the zip itself because it said that it was open in a programm but the only programm I had open was 'my files' then I closed the PC and reopened it and erased it succesfully but I want to know.. did I get infected? How can I know that? And if I did how can I get rid of the virus?Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:how can i know if i have a virus after i pressed on a zip someone sent me?

I would run a full virus scan with your antivirus and with malwarebytes or an equivelent malware scanner. Then I'd change my Facebook password. Never assume any zip file is from the person who supposedly sent it. 90% are viruses. Also warn your friends that  you've been hacked and not to accept any files form you. or  any friend requests the hacker might send.

I've performed a factory restore on it so now im back to 8.1 from 10 and is still not fixed and now I can't log into windows at all if I plug another keyboard into it the keys are functinal on it,but doesn't change anything. The pointer and touchpad seem to be working properly and none of the keys on the laptops keyboard are working but when I click the EOA icon to activate the OSK it only flashes momentarily so I'm not able to click it! I've tried resetting the battery and still not working. I've called tech support and they said since I've done the reset to factory condition theres nothing else that can be done and to mail it to them. I'm at witts end on this situation and appreciate any advice from this community. Hello,

Just now I came back to my computer after being afk for about an hour and found that my W key was being pressed as if it was held down. I couldn't type in any search bar or chat because it would just repeat "wwww..." and the only way I could fix it was to power down my computer and restart it.
This is the first time that this has happened to me and I'm wondering if I should be concerned?

I am using Windows 7

Thanks,
TyGuy

Hi there,
I'm in the process of creating a fairly simple number game in VB .NET, using a simple form with labels etc., to act as a prototype for the full thing.
As control arrays are no longer supported, and I wanted something to that effect, after having put 10 labels on the form I used:

Code:
Public Cells As New System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Label)
'And then, later on, populated Cells with:
Cells.Add(Label1)
Cells.Add(Label2)
Cells.Add(Label3)
...
Cells.Add(Label10)
Now, I would like to create a function that will be called whenever any of the labels is pressed and will then wait for a keypress indicating a value, to be entered into the pressed cell, or a click on another label.
However, I am a little stuck as for how to do this, so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
fatnickc.

My pc seems to think the shift key is pressed down, it is not a hardware issue as even when my keyboard is not connected it still acts as if the shift key is held down. So I am constantly typing In Capitals and cannot scroll up and down, I have tried holding it down for for a long period of time and it still makes no difference, I have tried the refresh setting and no change. Any ideas?
