I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Try the drivers from Support - they show as 32bit though, no idea if they will work for you.

I'm curious to know if there is a true plug and play Bluetooth dongle available anywhere. I'm trying to send from my work computer to my Bluetooth headset. The problem I run into is that I'd have to have admin rights to load a program and every Bluetooth dongle I've found so far requires a cd loaded driver. Does anyone know if they make on with a contained driver that doesn't require a disc to upload? My PC does allow that type of driver to be installed (ex thumb drive driver)? Thank you in advance.

A:Is there a TRUE plug and play Bluetooth dongle?

Sorry, we can't help here. If there are restrictions put in place by your office IT against installing software and hardware then you need to go through therm to see if you are allowed to add or do this. We cannot assist in bypassing work restrictions as it can lead to lawsuits or your job termination for breaking work policy.

Hi Sri, Welcome to 8 forums.

I have connected the USB Bluetooth Dongle (BCM20702) to the "work computer" and it is detected but not flashing blue like it should be doing at home on my own computer. The wireless earphone "WLE1717" is showing up on my Bluetooth Devices but is still having the "searching flashing light" being shown on it.

I have taken a look at the device in "Bluetooth Devices" and it intermittently shows up as "Trouble Shoot" not the whole time, when I right click it, there is no Bluetooth option and it says "Mouse settings, keyboard settings"

What can I do to make my wireless earphone work?

Hi together!

I bought a bluetooth dongle from Speedlink "VIAS Bluetooth USB Adapter".
It implements Bluetooth V2.1+EDR, but that should be backwards compatible.

It is working on Windows 7 and on Linux 3.7, but on Vista (i have SP2), the pc is unable to detect any devices.

First of all the cover of the dongle says that it is "certified for Vista". Windows actually recognizes it and installes the standard bluetooth drivers. The manual confirms that only Microsoft drivers are needed.

So the drivers are installing with no problems, but i can't detect any devices. (I tried my phone, the wiimote, all these things work on the other platforms)

I tried reinstalling the drivers and rebooting a lot of times, but it didn't helped.
I tried writing an e-mail to the manufacturer, but there was no response since the 28th July.

Under "services", the service "bluetooth support service" is running.

I found out that the dongle does not search for devices. I observed this on the Windows 7 pc. When the dongle searches for devices, the LED stays red (which is happening on Windows 7) but on Vista the LED is only flashing.

Has somebody an idea?
Thank you

Purchased a brand new Asus USB-BT211 bluetooth dongle with the express goal of connecting a wiimote to my new computer. the machine runs Windows 7 x64, the drivers for the dongle install without a problem, and the bluetooth searching mode on the "add a device" screen appears to be running without a hitch.

when i place the wiimote into sync mode (holding down the red button), it never appears to be visible to the computer, and doesn't show up on the add a device screen. When I attempt this procedure with either of my other two laptop computers, (running Windxows Vista x86) using the same dongle, the wiimote syncs without a problem and can be used with other utilities such as glovePIE and JoyToKey and Dolphin.

So, tell me, Why is it that Windows 7 refuses to see the wiimote when i try to make the connection?

I've got an Acer Aspire S3-951, just installed Windows 8 Release Preview Build 8400.

All devices have installed, the bluetooth module shows up in the device manager. I've downloaded and installed the Atheros Bluetooth driver from the Acer website. However when I try to add a bluetooth device it doesn't find anything - it just says "Searching for devices" and eventually says "No devices found". I've placed two mice in pairing mode but neither show up (Logitech M555b and Kliq KL-TSMBT3), it doesn't even detect my iPhone.

Anyone got any ideas or fixes??

Don't think you need to fix anything with PnP that is not broken. If using XP, just make sure your BIOS setup menu has the PnP set to Disabled, and if using Win98, then set it to Enabled. My guess would be that it is already set that way, but that is how it should be. Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for anything that is not functioning properly.

I'm hoping someone can help!! I've been scouring the internet for a couple of days for a solution but got nothing!

I've been having problems with plug and play mass storage devices on my netbook.

My netbook is a Samsung NC10 running XP (SP3). It will detect my WD external hard drive no problems but as soon as I try and use a plug and play device it asks for drivers which it then won't find on the system. It recognises that there is a USB device there in device management but it has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. When I plug it in rather than making the single chime noise it makes a double chime which seems to signify that it won't work.

So far I have deleted and re -installed the USB drivers.

Checked that the BIOS is up to date.

Checked the Plug n Play settings.

Deleted infcache1 from the registry editor.

Taken the battery off for a couple of hours (it seems this is meant to get rid of residual electricity)

Still absolutely nothing! It seems this is a software problem of some kind but I don't know what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:USB Plug and Play Devices not working

I try and use a plug and play device it asks for drivers

You must define what a Plug and Play device is,that your having a problem with, in your definition, as all USB devices are Plug and Play. The WD external USB drive is a Plug and Play device.
This is not a software problem, it is usually a power issue, as in the USB port is not providing enough power to power the device up unless it has a separate power adapter. Try the device in question on another computer.

Hi there, first post so be gentle :)

For a while now any new USB devices that i've tried to use with my PC having been failing miserably! I've had problems with flash drives and my ipod.

Anything that's been installed for a significant amount of time (I'm guessing here but probably like 6 months+) works absolutely fine including printer, external HDD and mobile phone but anything i've tried to use more recently just won't work.

Windows detects it then tries to install drivers but never succeeds, always saying 'there has been a problem installing the device and it may not function properly'.

I know the devices are fine because they work without a hitch with my Vista-running laptop.

Now i'm not the most tech savvy person in the world so you'll have to excuse my ignorance but i tried installing the latest updates for windows and tried to do a system restore but to no avail (it incidentally won't restore to any point whatsoever - not even yesterday!)

I've tried numerous other things as well but i'd be eternally greatful if someone can point me in the right direction of a solution because although I could live with the problem at first it's really beginning to annoy me!

If there's anything that i've left out that you need please let me know and i'll provide you with whatever i can.

Thanks in advance for your time.

PS - i tried searching for an answer on your forum but couldn't find one so apoligies once more if the answer is staring me in the face!

Okay so basically some programs and devices started acting a bit goofy about a month ago, it was small stuff and I didn't really care. Now my Wacom Bamboo Create Tablet stops working, as well as my printer/scanner (Canon MP490). This was too much so I tried finding the problem, so I head to my Device Manager only to find that it is empty! Not one device shows up in my device list. So after doing some research and seeing that a possible problem is that my PNP is disabled so I go to my processes and see that PNP is enabled. That was a week ago or so. Today I encounter another problem a setting in Photoshop is bugging out, after research updating the driver for my graphics card seem to be the solution. So I download a graphics card detector from my card's manufacturer and try to open it only to receive the following error.

"Could not enumerate PNP devices. Is the plug and play process disabled?"

After digging around a little more I see that malware might be the cause, so I run a full scan, I'm clean. So it appears that Plug and Play IS enabled, it's just being recognized for some reason. I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks!

A:Plug and Play is enabled, but devices do not recognize that it is on.

Malware may indeed be at work here. That one scan you ran may not be enough, What was it by the way? And, did you run a Full?

See if you can download, install, and run MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and Rkill.
If you're prevented from doing so, you're infected.

If they all show nothing, time for a clean install.

Hello all,

I hope somebody can help me with this. I have a PC laptop (IBM thinkpad T20) with Windows XP professional SP2. A while ago I bought an optical USB mouse (Belkin lighted USB mouse, plug and play), which should have worked just by plugging it into the USB port, no software needed.. but it didn't. The device manager does the yellow Q mark thing and keeps looking for drivers that it cannot find (it does this everytime I restart the computer now).
I updated the BIOS and the pointer thing is set to autodisable.
The mouse works on other computers so it's not defective and the USB port works with my printer and my flashdrive.

I just forgot about this for a while and carried on not using a mouse but now the same problem happens with a portable MP3 player and storage device. Windows looks for drivers for it (I have installed the CD following the instructions) but says it can't find them.. However it knows what kind of decice it is. With the mouse it just says it's unknown.

I tried uninstalling SP2 to see if they would work on SP1 but nothing, I have reinstalled SP2 now and still nothing..

I have looked in other posts for similar problems but can't find a solution for this. Does anybody know what could I try? Will I have to reinstall the whole OS or something?

Thank you very much in advance..

This is in a Windows ME environment. I installed a graphic AGP card in a fairly recent generic system. I am using an MSI K7T266 Pro 2 motherboard. ME will not detect the new card either automatically or manually. The BIOS is 2002 version.
Plug N Play OS in BIOS is "yes". I also changed it to "No" and Windows still did not detect the new card. Again, Plug N Play BIOS is not listed in the System Devices. I do have a second system with Windows ME and it does show Plug N Play BIOS in the system. I feel this is the detection problem, but how do get the Plug N Play BIOS into the System Devices?

My computer has developed a problem I can?t diagnose.

I first noticed an issue when I was trying to plug and play a Logitech webcam that had previously been used on the computer some years ago. I couldn?t get the PC to recognise it in any USB port, though its power light came on when it was plugged in.

Anyway since it wasn?t essential to have the webcam, I just aborted what I was doing and decided to leave it.

A day or two later, I needed to print something and discovered that my printer (Canon Pixma IP 3300) now wasn?t being recognised either and I couldn?t connect to it. It is also connected via a USB and has functioned normally since it was first connected 2 years ago. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the software, but the PC just isn?t picking it up.

I started to look on the internet for people with similar problems and discovered loads of advice, some of which I?ve tried to apply, but with no success. (Incidentally, I?ve checked my Plug and Play is set up correctly).

Along the way with some of these solutions, I discovered that my 'Device Manager' is empty. I tried to correct that using the published internet solutions, but again have had no success.

I also noticed during this period that my ?My Computer? window, which has always loaded instantaneously, was now taking ages to load. I have managed to correct this by changing the Windows Image acquisition setting from ?automatic? to ?manual?.

I recently noticed that I could not access any of my plub and play USB devices on my Windows 7 computer. I just also noticed that when I reboot, I know get a DOS message momentarily that says I am in IDE mode and my plug and play devices cannot be supported. It also provides me with the option to go to SATA by pressing "Y" while in DOS mode. There is a timer which times out and the it loads Win7.

I am not really sure what is going on.

1) Given that I used to be able to access my plug an play devices (exernal hard drives) have I somehow changed my BIOS settings?

2) Should I be clicking on "Y" while in DOS? Note I tried this and nothing happened.

3) Should I go directly into my BIOS and make the change. If so how?

Hey guys, just found this forum and was hoping you could help...

No plug and play USB devices will work. Just poking around... looks like somehow all of my native USB drivers have been deleted.

Asks me to either find the drivers for the device or plug in a CD or else the install fails, and since the items are plug and play, there isnt a CD. Also for example on my keyboard, its plug and play, should be "HID Keyboard", but if I plug it into a different port and install it as such it says it wont work.

The only things that are USB that still work with my computer are my old items that I've had plugged into the same ports for months. If i change the port, the same thing happens.

Oh and if I'm in the Bios, everything seems to work fine. But unfortunately I havnt found a way to make the Bios control all USB devices

my "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" area in my native driver selection area is empty.

My MOBO is ASUS P4P800 Deluxe.
I just recently flashed my BIOS to the latest BETA version from the German ASUS FTP site in order to correct my compatibility issues detecting my 300GB Maxtor SATA drive.

All was perfect until I tried to connect my mobile phone via USB and something went wrong and it wouldn't detect properly. The phone does, however, show up under USB devices as MOTOROLA USB MODEM, like it did in the past.

So I don't know what's the problem... and don't know how related this issue is, but then I saw that under 'System Devices' there is 'Plug-N-Play BIOS Extension' listed twice.

First one is fine, second one shows an exclamation mark and under properties it says that there is some corruption in the registry or something.

I don't like exclamation marks anywhere under Device Manager. I hope someone can tell me how to fix this...

Do I look for a driver? And if so, which one and where? Is this 'device' suppose to be listed twice? Maybe I should just try 'removing' it?

There will be no blutooth icon if Windows doesn't know you have a blutooth thingie installed. You need the drivers for your dongle. Try ones from the manufacturer's website instead of the outdated ones you have on the CD.

But then it said it couldn't be installed as it didn't have no drivers in windows.
So i do really need a driver disk.
I have looked on the web an cant find any thing.
Also i don't even know the make of the device. All i have is Blue-tooth V.1.2 Class 2 USB dongle.
When windows detects the device it is named as Siw.

I have checked the driver-guide.com

I have a USB Bluetooth Dongle that I used to use in Vista and XP, where it was simply plug and play. Then all I had to do was go to Control Panel and there would be a Bluetooth icon where I can add other Bluetooth devices. But after plugging it in Windows 7, there's no such icon when I go into Control Panel. When I first plugged it in, Windows 7 automatically and successfully installed the drivers for it. But since there's no way, or at least that I know off, of how to add a device to my computer on Windows 7, I tried searching for my computer on my mobile phone so that I can add it in my devices. But my mobile phone can't find my computer. How do I add other Bluetooth devices to my Windows 7 system? I even tried going into services.msc and setting Bluetooth Support Service to Automatic and starting it, but I'm still not able to add my mobile phone to my computer. Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just simply typed in Bluetooth in the search pane on the start menu and there was an option to add a device. LOL!

I am trying to buy a Bluetooth dongle from Amazon.co.uk for my PC apparently needed for my speakers.

I know nothing about Bluetooth.

I phone a supplier who told me that "these" days Bluetooth dongles need a USB 4.0 port.

My PC has 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports.

What do I do please?

Problem-Bluetooth Dongle Not working.

I bought a Creative D-100 wireless speaker about a year ago. It connects via Bluetooth and worked fine (at first) with my Desktop PC, using a Medialink USB dongle. However, after a few months, it no longer connects to the speaker. When I open Bluetooth Control, I see the Creative D-100, but when I click on "Connect," it acts as if it wants to connect, but after a second or two, tells me I am disconnected. I re-paired the speaker, but still, no connection.

A friend, on a recommendation from me, bought a D-100, but was unable to connect from the start. I also bought one as a gift that can't connect to the recipient's PC. All three USB dongles were from a different manufacturer. However, in each case, Windows 7 was the OS.

The speaker connects effortlessly to my Google tablet with built-in Bluetooth. My diagnostic skills are exhausted. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Although I have not tested it in Win 7 x64, the Azio BTD-V201 has a Win 7 x64 driver.

It works perfectly in Win 7 x86.
