Gamer server RAM - "Unable to run virtual Java machine"

Q: Gamer server RAM - "Unable to run virtual Java machine"

I've tried hosting a server for an indie computer game called Minecraft using the following .jar file
http://minecraft.net/download/minecr...=1284392596463
and while it works, I've been unable to allocate more than 1 gig of memory to the program.

Running the .jar file by itself leaves a very small amount of memory, which is tracked on the server window as "Memory use: # mb (% free)

The support forum for the game suggests using a .bat file with the following line:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar

This does increase the amount of memory, and while I should be able to increase the "1024" values to use even more, this is where I run into problems. Using "2048" or any other value in this .bat line produces an error stating:
"Unable to run virtual Java machine"

I've asked about this on the game's forum, and the only response I've gotten was from other Vista 64 bit users that have the same problem and are unable to solve it. Any thoughts?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I have been receiving a pop-up notification error when I am idle from my computer for about 3-5 minutes which informs me that "Java could not create the Java Virtual Machine". I have NO clue what this means. I have tried un-installing and reinstalling Java, but that's all I could come up with. Any tips? Because this is very annoying.

A:"Could Not Create Java Virtual Machine"

Hi there.

Two things to try, in this order:

1) Disable the 3rd party firewall if you have one. Usually uninstall is necessary to test but not for this. Reboot.

2) If issue still repeats, download and install Malwarebytes. Run it then update definitions within it. Let it scan and remove anything it finds.

Let us know how it goes. There are lots of great folks here. Someone is liable to come up with a solution for you.

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me with the following. I tried to use VMware's free "converter" software to convert my physical HP machine to a virtual machine. However, when trying to run the virtual machine, it says that the virtual machine has two processors & that it is limited to only using one processor, & therefore, will not start. The physical machine is a dual core processor, but I see no way to configure the virtual machine so that it only has one processor.

It seems to me the software should just configure itself to at least run, and from there a person can try to tweak the settings and be advised if there are limitations at that point, but that would make to much sense. Alternatively, they could provide an easy way to change the settings so you can at least get the thing to run, but again, that would make to much sense.

Anyway, if anyone can help me get the virtual machine clone running, please let me know.

Thanks
John

Hi,
I newly installed Windows 8.1 (not an upgrade, fresh install from corporate network) on a Dell Precision T7600 workstation and enabled the Hyper-V feature with the matching management. I created a couple of 2 GB RAM, 2 virtual CPUs VMs and am trying to install
Windows Server 2k8R2 and 2k12 on them. After a network boot, during the first couple dialog boxes for Windows setup, I am unable to use the keyboard. When I try to boot from an ISO, the VM get stuck on a black screen "Starting Windows". In either
case if I use the VM connection window menu to paste from clipboard or send ctrl+alt+del, I get the error:
Virtual Machine Connection
Could not send keys to the virtual machine.
Interacting with the virtual machine's keyboard device failed.

I search online for this error and did not find others experiencing it.
I tried to shutdown and reset both VMs, I stopped and restarted the Hyper-V service. Neither helped. I am not sure what other step I can take at this point.
Also, I configured a virtual switch as external network on one of the two Intel network adapters. Both connect to a gigabit switch. "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter" is checked. Both VMs are on the same virtual switch.

Hi together,
I have a virtual Windows 8 machine that had houndres of updates to install.
After finishing the updates and rebooting the system the machine stops (or takes very long time?) with "updating your system" 11% (for more than 12 hours).
For sure there is important data on the machine ;-).
I read about a problem with an old update (november)...
Any idea how to figure out if the machine is "only" very slow or how to proceed?

I'm trying to run Client Hyper-V on my Windows 8 Pro machine. I was able to successfully install the service, and can create virtual machines and hard disks on my local system. I can even start them, and see boot activity via the preview window in the MMC.
I cannot, however, connect to any machines from the local system: when I do, it hangs on "Connecting to <machinename>" for 30 seconds before it pops up with the dialog:
"Cannot connect to virtual machine. Try to connect again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
Obviously, because this is Client Hyper-V, I am the system administrator, so I scour the Internet to solve my problem. I see solutions related to firewalls, administrative permissions, a few other things, and nothing has worked. I also tried creating
a virtual machine on a Windows 8 Enterprise system (which can connect to it just fine) and export it for the Pro machine to import, and I still cannot connect to it, whether the VM is registered in place or copied to the host.
Some other notes:
- None of these systems has an OS installed - two locally created ones either had no boot or booted off a Linux LiveCD, and the exported one attempted to do a PXE boot. Thus, I cannot attempt to link via Remote Desktop since the computers have no names
- Hyper-V has some other quirks on my system as well: in order to stop a virtual machine, I have to end the vmwp process - which restarts the machine - and then stop it fr... Read more

I have a need to have like a virtual machine... not what you get when you see discussions about "Virtual Machine" software and functionality... but rather, When User X or Guest Logs In He goes to a seperate Partition or whatever... Just so the user sees none of the full administrators stuff, recent files, the auto fill stuff that comes up in like music, or images, or word docs etc... he will only see and have applications see what has happened on his area or partition... I am not opposed to having full duplicated OS and Programs on that partition if that is necessary... but when X logs in, he sees nothing but stuff on his partitions... Like I was looking for graphics for letterhead and invoicing for customer X with Customer X with me and some graphics for Customer Y popped up and Customer X should never have seen those ... Confidentiality... so when I was looking searching for the graphics ... the fill in complete whatever,,, feature popped up a filename that was obviously recognizable for Customer Y! That cannot Happen... I need to totally Segregate this stuff... Help. Under NT4 this was kinda easy but I have spent 9 hours scouring printed manuals and online sources and get everything but the simple things Ineed... Hey they do that at the public library even... Please Help.

A:Seperate Partition "Virtual Machine" for User X at Log in

Creating limited user accounts and encrypting the data that each user creates is probably only way to do it without installing multiple versions of the operating system. Each user should only see the files they've created.

I've spent hours trying to do a repair install of Windows 10 on a VM Ware Fusion 8.5 virtual machine. The host machine is a mid-2010 iMac. The virtual machine is running Windows 10 Home x64 1607. The reason I'm doing a repair install is because some system files are corrupted and "sfc /scannow" only gets about halfway before it says it couldn't load some resources then quits.

The "Windows 10 installation has failed" message appears not long after starting the installation when it says about 6%.

I've attached a screenshot of the failure message as well as disk manager and the Panther folder which is curiously unpopulated (there's nothing in the two folders shown above). The Panther folder doesn't contain any error logs. However, on a previous installation attempt, I looked at an error log and it showed that it was not able to copy something from the installation disc to a location on C:/windows.

I have installed Windows 10 without problem on a number of other machines, but I'm stuck here on this one. By the way, no external drives or devices are attached to the machine (other than the apple bluetooth trackpad and keyboard which have never been a problem on this and other virtual machines). I've run chkdsk on the virtual machine and the drive appears to be ok. Well thats the error I get. I was trying to use my HP all in one to scan (Which I don't do but once in a blue moon) and I can't get it to work. BTW I'm using XP SP2 with most every update except IE 7

Also I found some threads of what other people have done to try and fix this issue, but I don't have any chickens handy and I can't wait until the moon is in the seventh hour of the seventh day of the seventh... you get what I'm saying.

OK,

we are running Windows SBS 2000. If i try to ftp to a website we have being hosted using a "client machine" (one on the internal network) I can't. I can get to see the contents of the ftp site but have no luck uploading my files to it. Although, if I use the server (running SBS 2000) itself I have no problems and can upload, delete, files, etc. Is there something I should be doing to make sure clients can ftp?

I have already created the packet filters on the ISA server computer, enabled the ftp access filter and created a protocol rule to allow the ftp protocol and still to no avail.

I have seen on the MS site that if the computer (client) is configured as a Web proxy client only, only FTP downloads are possible. How do I know if it is configured as web proxy client and then change this?

I have used the same ftp account details when doing the ftp on the server machine and on the client machine. need help quickly as very frustrating

I downloaded the newest version of Java on my XP, Explorer 7. It shows up on my desktop but when I try to run it, I get a message, "Java unable to download." I currently have 1.4.2.

I noticed in my advanced tab there is a check mark by, "Always use Java 1.4.2. Should I uncheck this and try running it again? Also, I have never unistalled anything. Should I uninstall 1.4.2 before running the new version? I am afraid to do this because I am afraid if I uninstall and I can't install the new version, then I won't have any Java at all.

I also got the same message when trying to download the lastest Flash, "Unable to download."

I would be grateful for any help or suggestions.

Thank you

Hey everyone,
I am trying to get the REST queries to work with the sharepoint end points instead of graph end points. I first created an app with relevant permissions and have given it the admin consent. Then I am hitting the https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/token?Content-Type=application/x-www-form-urlencoded end
point with https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com as resource. I am then using the access token retrieved to give the rest call to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/v2.0/drives/b!3indYSbqZ0-hVSPnCgIZy-2xDMh7jH9AuQnEzJMc6TEfQoSJvJT-R6tT0lFBQiPr/root/delta
but it is failing with "error":{"code":"generalException","message":"General exception while processing"}}. The REST response code is 401 Unauthorized. I have filed a Microsoft support ticket but they
have asked me to post on these forms. Can someone please help me with this? I am not able to move forward because the error is pretty generic and doesn't give any additional details.
Thanks,

I have used several different programs lately that whenever they try to validate my information from the web, I get an error that the program is "unable to connect to remote server." I removed my anti-virus software and disabled windows firewall, but nothing seems to work. Internet Explorer and Firefox seem to work just fine. The other weird things is that these programs work just fine when I use them on my laptop which is connected to the same router. Thus, the router is not the problem. Since I have the same problem with multiple programs, I'm assuming that there must be something wrong with my windows network settings. I am running Windows XP

Any ideas of what fixes I can try?

Hey Everyone,

First post, Tech savviness somewhere around "competent enough to get into trouble but recognize it and stop."

I'm having an issue that I believe is being caused by my router/modem combo. TWC just sent us an "upgrade" and now on my macbook air the WiFi does not connect to random websites. So far apple.com, google.com, yahoo.com, bing.com are consistently not connecting but duckduckgo.com works fine, espn.com works fine, homedepot.com works... etc. I can't see a pattern.

Things that maybe relevant.
1. This only occurs on my macbook. My windows 8 desktop (physically connected), my wife's Dell Windows 7 laptop (wifi), Her iphone, my droid All work fine.

2. This only happens on my wifi network. At school or any other wifi

3. I'm in law school and there is a piece of software called Exam4 that we have to use for final exams. It completely restricts computer/internet access while its running. My computer crashed while running the newest version of the software just about the same time this started.

4. Router is made by Arris, model DG1670, 2.4/5 GHz, I can provide any other info you need for it.

5. Running Yosemite 10.10.3.

6. It makes no difference which browser is used, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari all have the same problem (i've attached 2 screen grabs).

7. It doesn't seem to be limited to google.com but anything in the domain. i.e. imap.google.com out as well.

Help please.

A:WiFi Router "Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data."

Have you tried resetting your location?
If that doesn't work, you can drag/delete the system configuration folder to the trash can, then
restart and let the Mac create a new "SystemConfiguration" folder which sets everything back to default
settings & preferences. Just note to keep the old sysconfig folder in the trash, if the above doesn't solve
the problem than you can simply restore the old config folder.

Might also try the same sites in safe mode to see if the problem persist.

Info about my laptop:

HP Pavillion dv5-1000
Windows Vista SP2
Wireless a/g/n

Info about my network:

ISP: Optimum
The wireless network in our house is somewhat complicated, but is essentially:A modem which goes to a main router (ISP provided netgear)
That router broadcasts the network "NeroKingston"
One of the ethernet ports goes to a 24 port switch
2 more routers off of that (brand new from monoprice), used as WAPs
One in basement, one on main floor, one in attic

Every device one the network works (hardwired dvd player, Win7 machine, SONOS, android phones, macbooks, printers, iphones).

Info about my problem:

I will be connected to the network wirelessly and suddenly a page will take a very long time to load and finally says "cannot reach this page". If I try to do ipconfig /all (or maybe /renew, I forget) it says it is unable to contact my DHCP server.

If I disable and then re-enable the wireless adapter the problem resolves for a few more minutes, then dies out again.

When it is working my internet is realtively fast (30 megs up, 14 ms ping).

Any more info needed?

Hi!

My daughter got a virus on her laptop and after getting rid of it (I think all the way, it's hard to tell until I can update the anti-virus software) I can no longer connect her laptop to the internet.

I have had a problem in the past with having to reboot the server and all the computers in order for the computers (all of them in the house) to register new ip addresses. Normally, if I have one computer that refuses to connect even after a reboot of the entire system I can connect it thru LAN and it, bang, fixes itself. However, this time it is not working.

Not only will her wireless not connect but neither will the LAN. I have opened the cmd prompt and done an ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew. Every time I do this I get the message:

"An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."

I tried the "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" and it seemed to work fine.

I also tried the "netsh winsock reset" and it seemed to work fine as well.

I rebooted each time I attempted a fix. Still I am unable to connect to the internet. It says it is connecting locally, but will not connect to the actual internet. When I use the repair option it gives me the same messages over and over that do not work. It always leads back to the IP address.

Here are the specs on her computer and as much information as I can think of. Please let me know what else I can try to get her compu... Read more

Hi guys and gals,

i opened a command prompt and did ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew and this message came up: An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.

when i try to connect to it in the list of available wireless networks, it acquires network address for a while, then says limited or no connectivity. i click repair, and it says " Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Renewing your IP address. This morning my internet stopped working on my computer, and stays at "Limited or No Connectivity".

My computer is hooked up to a router with an ethernet cord, and that router is hooked up to my modem. There is also another computer hooked up by ethernet cord to the router, and I use the wifi a lot for my iPod. Both work fine, it's just the internet on my computer that doesn't seem to work.

So far I've ruled out any problems with the modem, router, ethernet cable and network card. I even went out and bought a new ethernet cable to see if that might fix the problem, but it didn't. Right now I'm in safe mode on my computer and the internet works fine, so the problem doesn't appear to be with my ethernet card.

I've tried unplugging and leaving both the router and modem for a few minutes, changing the cable to a different port on the router, hitting the reset switch on the modem and router, and ipconfig release/renew, but when I try ipconfig /renew it tells me "Unable to Contact Your DHCP Server".

After searching for quite some time and trying various things, my internet still won't work.

The laptop does too if its connected by an ethernet cord. However, it refuses to connect to the wireless, saying that there is limited or no connectivity. I tried the ipconfig release and renew, but that's when it said "unable to contact DHCP server." I copied and pasted what was in the command box after the ipconfig below. How do I fix this problem to get my computer to connect to the wireless?

Hello, my pc won't connect to the internet. Shows " limited connectivity" and when I go to network screen, shows "public" andI know it should show Home or Private. I change it but no luck, goes right back. Above error message occured when I followed someoes intructions, don't remember how I got there. I have tried unplugging pc, then modem, 2 wire router. I have 2 pc's, one works and the other does not. I also have those power adapters that plug into the wall to carry the high speed service from att. Any help would be appreciated.

A:[SOLVED] "unable to contact your DHCP server"

The 2Wire router is a Modem/Router combo, and should not require the use of another modem.
Have you configured the 2Wire Router with your ATT account? DHCP would be provided by the 2Wire Router if it is setup correctly.

I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet using a ThinkPad T40. It's using a Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN adapter; I had to download the driver through the Lenovo ThinkPad website because it was not installed.

I can connect sucessfully using a Belkin USB adapter. There are three other computers successfully connected to the network, two using a wireless connection and one using an ethernet cable.

When I try "ipconfig /renew" on the command prompt, I get an error message that says, "An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection 4 : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."

This is what I get with "ipconfig /all" while using the Cisco card.

Let me start off by saying I have tried all the basic steps to clear this problem but I still am unable to use Chrome. However, IE and FireFox work just fine.

The common method of going into Internet Properties > Connections > LAN Settings > unchecking the Use a proxy server for your LAN does not work for me.

Alternately, I ran several malware removal tools but I still stand at the same place.

After searching a little more, I found an article on this forum http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/1151568-yet-another-unable-connect-proxy.html

I am facing the exact same issues as mentioned by Larrylowtech in the post. So, I have followed all the steps mentioned by dvk01 (Derek) in the mentioned post.

It seems no DHCP server is detected by your computer. Your current IPv4 address is 169.254.7.46 and it is one of the APIA (automatic private IP addressing) [169.254.0.1-169.254.255.254) addresses.

Try rebooting your router. If that does not solve it, then try resetting the router as your computer seems to be the only one affected and that could solve the DHCP connection issues.

This is driving me bonkers and I have almost no hair left. I really hope someone can help.

When I attempt to copy or move a file or folder from my Win7 box to my WinXP (SP3) media server, the operation nearly always fails. Take, for example, my trying to copy the VLC Media Player folder (704 files, 75.1 MB) from Program Files on Win7 to the C: drive on the media server via a mapped drive (X). In all cases, after hanging up at some point during the copy, I get this message:

Network Error
There is a problem accessing X:\<whatever current sub-folder copying is>
Make sure you are connected to the network and try again

I should note here that you only see the message come up if you wait for it (~1 min) after the copy hangs. If you try to cancel the hung copy before the message comes up, you can crash explorer.exe.
