Office 2007 Ultimate to Office 2010 Home & Student

Q: Office 2007 Ultimate to Office 2010 Home & Student

I am running a copy of Office 2007 Ultimate that I got through an academic program. I need to install a key for Office 2010 on a new system. The cost for the key only is about $20 less than a 3 license traditional disk version, so I am considering upgrading every system.

However, I don't want to lose MS Access or MS Publisher to upgrade.

If I install Office 2010 Home & Student over Office 2007 Ultimate, will the extra programs from Office 2007 still be available to me? I know they will not be upgraded, but having a few different versions floating around doesn't bother me.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The only location for that code would be on a card that shipped with the system - if you have lost that, you're essentially out of luck and will need to purchase a new license.

I have the starter version of office 2010. I discovered that it does not have microsoft document imaging in the tools. I tried to download only that piece out of 2007 but it did not work, possibly because of the starter version limitations. I was thinking that maybe I could have both. I am not sure how to do that because I have read that if they are in the same directory they will conflict with each other. If anyone could give me some step by step instructions on how to do it, I would be really grateful.

A:Have office 2010 and want to install 2007 student on same computer

It's too bad you have Home. If you'ld have had Pro, or Ultimate, you could have taken advantage of virtual machines. You can find free VM players from VMware, or Oracle. Install the OS, like you would on any actual machine, and install your Office program there. It should have access to your printer, CD/DVD player/burner, etc...

Is it true "Office 2010 Home and Student" only comes in a 32 bit version?

A:Office 2010 Home and Student

No. All versions have a 64-bit option, but you have to do a custom install. The 32-bit version is installed by default for a few reasons. You can read more about it here: 64-bit editions of Office 2010

Hi,Just bought bought the Microsoft Home & Student Office 2010 with a licence for three computers.
I have installed it on my main desktop working well,Also installed it on my laptop,Now that makes ''Two'',One more left.Thinking of putting the third one on my wife's laptop,There is one little bug holding me back.
If I do decide to place it on my wife's laptop the three have gone into action. Now if for example my C drive goes Kaput on my desktop and have to have a new C drive where does that leave me to re install that office 2010 on to the new HDD that means that it will be the fourth install.
Am I correct in thinking so?What is my position here please,The Disc I got and paid for is a genuine bought item.
Any thoughts here please.
Many thanks.

You just can only use it on three PC's at any one time.

Can this be done?

A week ago, I bought a new CD of MS Office Home and Student 2010. Before I did that, I asked my wife, who has occasionally used Access 2003, "do you still need a database program?". I SWEAR she said "no I don't use it any more". The FIRST time she sat down to use MS Office 2010 she asked me "where's the database program?" aarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh....

So is it possible for me to buy a way to upgrade the version I have now, or must I buy a completely new stand alone CD for just Access 2010?

A:Adding MS Access 2010 to my MS Office Home and Student 2010

I have NOT seen any upgrade to a higher package.

I think the only way is to buy the stand alone package.

Now that you know, you will be buying the Pro version when you upgrade to 2013!

Hello, make sure that is the only version of Office on that machine, most new computers have a 60 day trial of Office 365 already installed. If that is the case, remove it and reboot the computer. If that is not the case, run a repair from the Office installer, or remove and reinstall (reboot in between)

A:Microsoft MS Office 2007 Home and Student

My main concern would be if it's genuine and a retail version that will activate successfully. You'd be safer buying a retail version from a real retailer or online etailer to ensure you won't have issues with activation or legitimacy. Also, 2007 is pretty old, 2016 is the current version and usually can be bought for $149 or less, sometimes for $99 for the Home and Student version.

As for drivers, drivers have no relation to Office. Office 2007 is compatibility with Windows 10 and will install from an internal or external DVD drive.

I have looked everywhere in the spec/adverts/blurbs/hype to find out if Office 2007, in any of its versions, contains Sapi 6.1. I want Sapi 6.1 because I use TTS and STT a lot and have read/heard that 6.1 is significantly better at speech recognition than Sapi 5.1 that came with the pre-Office 2003 versions. References state that Office 2003 (Pro version definitely, maybe other versions as well) does contain Sapi 6.1, but have found no Sapi info, none at all, about any version of Office 2007.

I don't have the moolah or the need for the extra features of Office 2007 Pro, or Executive or whatever they call the top end version these days, but I would reluctantly fork out for Office 2007 Home & Student - IF and only IF it has Sapi 6.1.....

So, if you know, let me know, does Office 2007 Home & Student incorporate Sapi 6.1???

Or, another option: Since I would only be buying Office 2007 for Sapi 6.1, is it possible to obtain Sapi 6.1 in some way other than buying yet another piece of bloated M$ Office software? (I much prefer OpenOffice 2.2, and expect that I would continue using it almost all the time anyway, even if I did have a new version of Window$ Office.) However, M$ does not offer a Sapi 6.1 SDK download like it does 5.1. Not anywhere I can find, but if someone knows of a site to obtain it... that would work, too.

Thanks.

i am tight for cash with the holidays so i am wondering is there a way to get a key or extend the trial version so i can at least get into the program and get what i have typed so far and continue on another program.

i hate spending the money when i only really want to get my first few chapters that i have typed out. it will not let me cut and paste it or anything . i can see it but it is locked.

I bought a new laptop recently over the Thanksgiving holidays. On the laptop came a pre-installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. It says I need to enter the 25 character product key, so I looked on the bottom of my laptop and I copied down the 25 character product key and entered it in, but it did not work. Does that mean I have to buy another Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007?

Another problem I have with it is my new laptop was horrible laggy when I tried playing games on it (MapleStory, Audition, etc.). I did everything I could to improve the performance speed for it (uninstalled programs I didn't need, deleted unwanted files, Disk Clean Up, scanned Disk for errors, Disk defragment, scanned for spyware/adware/viruses, clean registry, blocked some programs from starting when Vista is turned on) and for some reason, Microsoft office stopped working well. When I turn on Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or OneNote, the splash screen would appear and stay there and nothing will happen. I've tried "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /a and it actually opens the program, but when I open up one of my word documents, it freezes the program. What can I do to fix this?

As I purchased a full copy last year, I have 2007 + 2010 update already installed on my two computers but I wonder whether there is any way of finding out whether today's copy is legitimate?

I don't want to try running it for fear it may do a "funny" on my system but can I discover whether its OK or not some way other than running it???

In other words, is there somewhere I can check the product key?

Many thanks all

I downloaded the trial version of Office 2010 to test for the 30 day period. I ended up buying Office for Student Home 2010. I uninstalled the test version and installed the new Student and Home. Now when I go to use Word, Excel, etc. it begins to install the loader and then goes to a Microsoft Single Image Page 2010 and then to a Configuration page before loading the program I try to open. This takes forever and is a real pain.

Although I uninstalled the trial version, the full office version shows all of the programs in the full version (Publisher, Access, One Note, etc.) I am running Vista, 32 bit, Service Pk 2 Home Premium.......good one for the experts. I need to lower my stress level on this one. Thanks!

Perhaps, you had preinstalled Office trial on your PC, and it interferes with the installation.

1. Open Uninstall Programs in the Control Panel and delete Office, if found.
2. Use FixIt for Office 2010 to clean up.
3. Run sfc /scannow in the command prompt. If SFC is unable to fix anything, attached zipped \Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Hey guys,

I just bought Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 because I need it for writing my papers and the like for college. When I open the installer, I get through the steps from the serial key to terms of service agreement and finally installation options all fine. But about halfway through the installation progression, I get a message saying, "Error 1303. Setup cannot access the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Shared\EQUATION. Verify that the folder exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it." So I went and looked for it and it does exist so I clicked on it and it gave me a message saying access denied. I thought that was supposed to happen so I clicked retry on the installer and got the same deal again. So I went back to the EQUATION file and clicked properties and then the security bar and under the owner section it said owner could not be displayed. So I tried to change the owner to my user account, which is administrator, and got a message saying, "Unable to set new owner on EQUATION. Access denied."

I need help to get this problem solved so I can get to work, thanks.

It downloaded OK, but did not complete the installation.

No error code just said "Can't complete installation.

You said "reinstall" -- was this installed before to Win8 DP? OR was it installed to another OS or PC? You need to ensure that you haven't already used up your three activations.

I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 and bought the above office program.
It was working fine for a few months but now I can't save files. The "save" button in the word & excel programes, etc. is not there. I have tried to do a repair using the DVD but that didn't work.
I have limited computer experience so does anyone have any idea how I can fix this with out getting too complicated.
Thank you.

Can you use the "File" menu? The buttons can probably be customized. Check whether you can add it.

How full is your drive?

I am using a Dell Inspiron One PC with Windows 7. It was given to me after being used a short time by my son. Evidently MS Office Home & Student 2010 was installed when PC was made. He never used it and neither did I. I have Office 2007 installed and I use it. I tried to open the program and I get the "License error" so I assume it was never registered. I tried to uninstall through remove programs and it only give me a window saying "wait for uninstall to complete." It does nothing. It really isn't hurting anything by being there but MS Updates keeps wanting to download and install updates for it in the amount of 300+ mbs. IS there a way to get rid of the program?

Hey all. I have been trying for the last week to set up the trial version of Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student on my new laptop, and I keep running into the same problem.

The download will get to Step 2 of 4, have about 7% of the download complete, then I will receive this popup message:

"There was a problem setting up Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010:
Cannot connect to the Internet to download required files. Check your Internet connection, and then try again."

Here's what I have done to try to fix the problem:

-checked the wireless internet connection (which, incidentally, is always at full strength when I get this message).

-uninstalled then re-installed the click-to-run from the Microsoft website.

-tried running the program as the administrator.

-tried checking the compatibility and re-configuring the compatibility for Windows 7.

I do not know what else to do and I am really getting frustrated so any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. I should warn everyone ahead of time that layman's terms are the best way to explain what to do to me-I'm not very good at tech-speak if you know what I mean.

Thanks a bunch ahead of time for any help offered!

My wife is needing Publisher for some new work/presentations .
I looked quick and saw the 2016 Publisher download at about $110 ,
do i have another option ? Best place to buy ?
I also see the new Office 365 includes Publisher , but is a bit more money
than we can afford. Either way i guess i could claim it for taxes next year
since it would be for work ?

Can anyone tell me if it is legal to sell an "Office Home and Student 2010 1 User 1 PC" if it has been removed from the PC it was purchased for? We bought it a couple years ago for our granddaughter to use at college. She recently purchased an Apple laptop and couldn't use the version of Office we had, so had to get the Apple version. We have now reformatted the old Windows laptop and have no use for the Microsoft Office software. She would like to sell it to help out a little with payments on her new Mac laptop.

Thanks for any info.

It sounds like you have a Product Key card version, and as such you may not remove it and sell it, or use it on another PC. Sorry!

I have 32 bit Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 software installed on a 64 bit Asus running Windows 7. My wife is having conflicts in both Word and Excel. While typing Word will randomly select all text and not let her go any further without doing an undo. She then has to hit save and restart the software. What do I need to do to get this glitch or conflict resolved? Anyone else experience this and know how to fix this? I am sure it is a compatibility issue but not sure what settings to choose and wonder if reinstalling the software might work since updates could be the problem. It worked fine from August until about two months ago. Thanks!

A:Office Home and Student 2010 conflict with Windows 7

It is unlikely to be a conflict between Windows 7 and Office 2010 - they are completely compatible.

Do you have a good anti-virus installed, with up to date definitions?

As a belt and braces measure, you could download Malwarebytes (free) and perform a full scan:
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Downloads

If all is clear, then you could try a repair on your MS Office:

Hello all.

Im having an annoying problem with msoffice today. I notice many of the icons and functions of office begin to not show/work, so i decide to uninstall and reinstall it. But when i went to uninstall it, i got errors, leaving the uninstall incomplete. I ended up using the windows uninstall cleaner or something similar and got rid of it. When it still wasn't gone i found a tut online and removed several registry keys. After that i was pretty sure the program in its entirety would be gone. Now.. when i try to reinstall it, i get the error shown in this picture..

so i did what it asked and gave full permission for that key in regedit. But when i tried to install it again, same error.

i really have no idea what to do next here, i kinda need these programs for school.

it would be wonderful if anyone can offer any ideas.

thanks

Looks like you messed up playing with the registry keys. I assume you have backed up the registry before tampering with them. Just reimport those keys. Else try to set back to an early restore point and start anew. Maybe this helps: How to manually uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature

My computer came with a demo version of Office Suite 2003 and I get this same error messae when I try to upgrade from that version too. Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it?

I tried installing my MS Office Home and Student 2007 on my new Windows 8 computer. The installation seemed successful, but I cannot locate MS Word 2007. On the Windows 8 Start screen there are images/icons for Excel 2007, Power Point 2007, One Note 2007, but not for Word 2007. I double clicked on the Excel 2007 image and it opened up the program OK. However, I cannot find Word 2007. I also looked in Windows Explorer and cannot find the Office Home and Student 2007 files. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to find Word 2007 on my Windows 8 computer. It seemed to have been installed successfully (from the install disk), but I simply cannot find it. Thank you for any help.

Hi there
First check that you DID select word at install time (or simply uninstall and re-install).

Then on Windows start screen simply type Word and you should see it.

You can then click Pin to taskbar to get a quick link. To pin to desktop select open file location and on the file location simply select send to desktop (create short cut).

Cheers
