I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I recently upgraded to an SSD, I moved the Location of the Documents folder to my HDD, now when I play games it stores files, where they should normally be in the Documents Folder, in the E:\ drive rather than E:\Documents.

My "Document Properties" look like this:

So shouldn't those folders be going to the Documents folder? They already exist in that folder but are from before I transitioned to an SSD.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

A:Windows storing "Documents" folders in wrong place

It looks like you moved the Libraries pointer to Documents and not the actual Documents folder which is under

I have Windows XP SP2.
A couple of days ago I was changing the folder types (from Documents to Pictures) for numerous subfolders in the "My Pictures" folder.
Somehow this caused many of the other directories/folders (C:, Program Files, Windows, etc.) to start using the "Picture Tasks" panel ("View as a slide show", "Order prints online", "Print pictures") on the left side of the screen, instead of the default panel for that directory/folder.
Does someone know how to recover the default panels by a registry change? (I don't use System Restore)

The "United States-International" keyboard layout option is supposed to let you type accents by pressing the right-alt key at the same time as ' " ~ ` or ^ followed by the letter you want to accent. For some reason on my computer the right-alt key does not work for this purpose, but left-alt and left-shift do. Unfortunately this is conflicting with all sorts of things so I really need to figure out how to get it to work with the right-alt key as it is supposed to. I have no idea what could be causing this problem so I don't know what other information to include. Any idea how to get this working properly for me?

I have recently installed a Logitech Keyboard/Mouse combo, the keyboard being a K520 unit. I have set up all the special "F" keys and "Hot" keys, to open various programs, etc., and these work perfectly - until I shut down the computer. When I restart it, none of these special keys function, causing me to open the Logitech "Mouse and Keyboard Settings", and click "apply", which gets them working again. I have two MS Sculpt Ergonomic keyboards on two different computers (A lenovo T450s with 64-bit Win 7 and a self-built Intel-based desktop with 64-bit Windows 10) and both are exhibiting the same behavior.  Namely, if CTRL or ALT are held down for a
few seconds, they "stick" on.  The key itself does not stick, but Windows acts as if the key is still being held, even after being released.  Pressing the "stuck" key again toggles it off.  This only happens with the CTRL
& ALT keys that I have seen.
StickyKeys and ToggleKeys are not enabled.
The behavior is consistently reproduceable.
Both machines have the most recent version of the MS Mouse and Keyboard Center installed.
Removing everything under Keyboard in Device Manager and rebooting has not resolved the issue.
The behavior does not occur with the integrated keyboard on the laptop, nor does it occur with a USB keyboard.
Someone online hypothesized that this behavior was the result of the keyboard simply stopping the sending of the pressed key after a key is held for a period of time (assumedly to prevent something sitting on the keyboard from draining the battery).  This
can be seen in something like notepad...if I hold a letter key down, it repeats for about 3 seconds, and then stops.  Perhaps this is what is happening with the CTRL and ALT keys?  After being held down for a few seconds the keyboard stops sending
the signal indicating that the CTRL or ... Read more

Don't do what I did or you will spend hours on the phone trying to get to the correct person.I have an Acer 5315 that I upgraded from Home Basic first to Home Premium and then to Ultimate. That was my first mistake. I should have just gone from Basic to Ultimate.OK, I really started to dislike Vista so I got a larger HD and installed XP and then I reinstalled Vista, in order to dual boot.I did my upgrade purchases through the AnytimeUpgrade Marketplace (THAT WAS MY 2ND MISTAKE)So, I figured a quick call and I should have it. Well, it has been about 1 week and I think I finally found the responsible party. They have agreed to send me a new disk (really don't need it but he said FREE) as well as the Product Keys for both of my upgrades. Sweet!BTW, this notebook running XP with 2 GB of RAM flies! The same does not go for Vista. Lock-ups, applications hanging and a bunch of other things prompted me to install the XP. I needed to keep the Vista simply because I feel a responsibility to support any of my clients that went with Vista.Following is a link about the Acer Hardware upgrade. I have a Core Duo T5450 in mine and it helps a lot. Just remember to upgrade your BIOS. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=267688DR

A:may be in the wrong place

The monitor you have now, as the old monitor you had, should have some buttons or knobs on the front of it. These are used to resize the image, adjust it's position etc. Try them out looking for the obvious such as a knob with an image that looks like it will stretch it etc. Also, you might want to adjust your settings to a different resolution. For example: 800X600, 1024X768 etc. To do that, just right click on an empty space on your desktop, select PROPERTIES, then left click on SETTINGS, then move the slider under SCREEN AREA. Hope this helps, T.

A friend has just created a new subdomain of his existing site. If I go to http://www.newsubdomain.existingsite.com, I see the host's generic "new site will be available soon" message. BUT if I go to http://newsubdomain.existingsite.com (that is, the same address, but without the leading "www."), I wind up on the site for some perfectly innocent-looking automotive specialty parts distribution company. (It looks like they mostly sell to retailers, not the public, so it makes no sense at all for them to be complicit in this apparent hijacking, although someone could have put something malicious on their site, I guess.)My computer is a laptop running WinXP Pro. AVG, spybot and Ad-aware scans find nothing amiss. The machine has no other symptoms of any kind of infection, afaict. The problem shows up regardless of whether I use Firefox or IE, but another machine on my home-network does NOT have this problem, so I know it's not a case of my ISP's DNS cache having been poisoned. I did run ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt; that didn't fix it.Could this just be some simple corrupted record somewhere, or must we conclude a malware infection?TIA!!!

Hi, has anyone ever experienced this, in Win XP?

I'll try to explain the best I can... my father (on his computer), was playing around with his taskbar putting it on the sides to see if he'd like there, I guess...

Now he's got repeats of his icons from the desktop sitting on his taskbar, fullsize. We tried to delete them, but if we did, they would also delete the twin that's on the desktop. I found this too be so weird, his taskbar is now about an inch and a quarter high, and we could not reduce it.

Has anyone ever seen such a glitch?

I don't think a restore would do anything, it being icons...

Could anyone tell me the best utility for fixing the registry/broken links/shortcuts etc in XP Home. My computer has become quite slow and I think I may have a lot of rubbish cluttering up the system.I do tend to trial a lot of progs and then uninstall them.

A:This question may be in the wrong place

Personally I would not 'fix' anything in the Registry. Yes there may be a few broken links but they will be taking up minimal space and will probably not cause your system to slow down that you would notice.. Better to defrag your hard disc and run something like Cleanup! to clear out your temp files etc.

Hi...

Yes that will count towards your 2GB monthly allowance...everything you get from the internet will count (emails, webpages, videos, music etc).

It does take up disk space but once you clear your temporary internet files, that will solve the problem.

As with the risks of internet use, there is a chance of picking up spyware/viruses by downloading content....but the chances are far less with reputable sites.

Hope that helps :)

I have WINDOWS XP, and can't figure out what other topic this question might belong in...

I don't know when or how it happened, but two file folders MY SHARED DOCUMENTS and CARRIE'S DOCUMENTS are now in MY COMPUTER.

MY COMPUTER, where it shows the drives. I am pretty sure it never had yellow folders in it before.

I think they should be in C DRIVE? There is a MY DOCUMENTS in C Drive, but it has nothing in it. I'm the only one who uses this computer, but apparenty everything saved goes into CARRIE'S DOCUMENTS. SHARED DOCUMENTS has various folders in it that I suppose would be shared by all, if others used the computer, too.

I've tried dragging them there (or anywhere) but only shortcuts appear in the new area. The folders still say in MY COMPUTER. They won't copy and paste.

When I open something, like in WORD, etc. I can still find them, just they are under MY COMPUTER.

So, they still work, it just seems strange, like they shouldn't be in MY COMPUTER. Unless I have totally missed this for the past year, I don't remember ever seeing them in there before. I take pictures off my memory card with a removable drive, which shows up as F drive, so I look in MY COMPUTER to click on this, all the time.

What happened and how can I fix it? Actually, since it seems to work this way, the only reason to fix it seems to be it looks odd this way.

Hi,

Here's a strange one, but lots of strange things happen with Vista. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2.

I clicked on the My Computer icon. I should get a list of drives (and Users and Marlene) down the left pane that I can expand to list folders and subfolders in the left pane. When I select the subfolder I want, its files and folders are shown in the right pane. I can do things like display files from one drive in the right pane, and drag/copy things from it to a different drive in the left pane. This is how it always works -- all the way back to XP (and 98?) op sys days.

Instead of that normal display, the left pane showed "Preferred Links" with a list of things like Documents, Pictures, etc. No drives were listed. Clicking on one of these "links" listed its folders in the right pane. I messed around with "Views" and "Organize" and now I have the left pane listing my drives, but no folders or subfolders. When I click on a drive, it's folders are shown in the right pane.

How do I get my normal view back?

I'm trying to use robocopy for mirroring my most important files between two computers. Except for one issue, it works as expected.

I'm trying to copy the complete "Documents" directory. Previously, this was called "My documents" and contained for example "My pictures". Now it doesn't, and I like that, but robocopy don't. Somehow it still searches for these directories, and of course can't find them. Seems robocopy needs a fix, or am I missing out on something here?

A:Robocopy looking for my directories in the wrong place

When I use robocopy, I use it in a text based batch file. So, as long as your paths are correct in the batch file it should go exactly where you tell it to. I haven't noticed any issues doing it this way with Windows 7.

For some time now I have had no sound. I think I might have plugged the sound connector into the wrong hole. On the back of my Dell Dimension #2350 PC are 3 holes (one pink, one light blue and one real dark blue). I currently have it plugged into the pink hole & was wondering if I should try one of the other two.

Have I got it connected in the right hole now or would I hurt anything by moving it to one of the other two holes?

I am a beginner and would really appreciate any suggestions and/or help as I really miss the sound, especially on e-mail cards I receive.

A:Have I Got Sound Connected In Wrong Place?

It would not hurt the computer or your speakers to plug it into the other holes.

Make sure your speakers are plugged into the wall (if they are that type of speaker), make sure they are turned on! And turned up! Put in some music, play it, and then plug the speakers into the different ports and see if they work.

If they still don't, let us know and one of us can walk you through it!

F4180 will not print
No error lights.
Connections are OK.
No tray jam.
Ink OK.
When I click to print I get the usual "Printing to HP 4100 Series"

then nothing.

A:Printer question? Sorry if wrong place.

Try deleting the printer, reboot, and then reinstall it.

My computer wasn't messed up when i first starting using it, but one day I turned on guest and i just started getting used to it. so i always used my guest file and all but a big problem happened some how. instead of my main account (Ben94), Guest became administrator. Now i cant do any features including:
* make new account(when i type something like TEST, it says: you cannot use .,{[}]!?,etc in a account name)
*cant change account types( because i cant make a new account)
* cant give passwords to accounts
* guest cannot check internet connections but ben94 can, but ben94 cant do anything about connections because its a standard account

they are a few things to add to that list but i dont want to go off topic. if there's anyway to fix this, please tell me.

On the remote possiblity, do you have a backup from before the problem existed?

do you have a win 7 dvd to do a repair install?

Please run a system file check

(type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

let us know the results

Normally the Quick Launch is located right besides the Start button, but the one on my w7x64 is away from it and the space between the Start button and the Quick Launch area appears to be the task bar where icon(s) is placed whenever program(s) is launched. How can this be corrected? The os is W7 Ultimate x64 SP1.

A:Quick Launch at wrong place

Hello Churin,

Step 8 in OPTION ONE in the tutorial below can help show you how to drag Quick Lauch all the way over to the left side next to the Start button.

Hope this helps,

Hi,
To put if breifly I was wiping the cmos after some trouble I'd had with my PC, I got distracted and when I went back I powered up the computer with the cmos jumper still in the wipe position. It won't boot to windows and seems pretty messed up, anybody know if how I could get around this?? I'm I right in thinking I could flash the bios, I haven't personally done that before so if somebody could speak me through what to do I'd be most appreciative...

Thanks in advance,
CrazyCris

A:CMOS Jumper In Wrong Place, What To Do?

Have you switched the jumper back to the correct position?

Does the computer POST? Do you hear a beep or see anything on the screen?

I've installed a windows to go on my USB driver. It works well, but only doesn't work on my own home computer.
The symptom is that it will boot from my hard drive(I've already set the BIOS to boot from USB drive).
I've checked the BCD file in my USB drive, it's normal when booting from other computers. But on my home computer, it will be replaced by another file, which contents are exactly same as BCD file on my hard drive. I don't know why.
So it there anyone who knows about the boot process of windows to go? And how could i solve this problem?
