Yahoo - Temporarily Unable to access your account

Q: Yahoo - Temporarily Unable to access your account

I had this problem once before and Yahoo was no help at all. It finally resolved itself somehow. But my friend has had the problem for two weeks now and every time he tries to fill out the Yahoo form, then click Send...and it just loops back to the form again.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Several weeks ago, on my two computers, I installed Explorer 7.0 (formerly used IE 6.0.

The following morning, after the above installation, I was unable to access my Yahool Mail account on either computer.

On the Yahoo Mail page, a 'security lock' appears adjacent to the IE search box at the top of the web page.

The only antecedent action that I can recall before the above problem surfaced was the installation of IE 7.0.

Could this be the cause of the problem?

If so.....could I uninstall IE 7.0 and reinstall IE 6.0?

I have very limited technical knowledge about computers....

I am using a Yahoo mail account which downloads emails to Windows Live Mail on my desktop.

I am being spammed by Online Casino emails, and despite blocking the senders domain in WinLiveMail, it only lasts for a few days and then returns. Also done the same thing with selective blocking in Yahoo Mail account settings for SPAM blocking but same result.

I tried to contact Yahoo Mail tech support to find out if it's possible to turn off my main Yahoo Mail account for a week or two, as it is the one being spammed, but I get no reply. Apart from FAQ does anyone know how to email or live chat Yahoo Mail support?

I can't use the "Unregister" option in the incoming spam mail, or I'll get inundated with commercial emails.

Also tried various options like Mail Washer, etc.

Can anyone think of an option so I don't see these emails, short of closing the account and creating a new one. The thing is, this is my main account I've used in many online registrations.

The weird thing is I've never been on the web site of Online Casino and never use the main email account in emails or online, except for signing in to things like my ISP, Yahoo Mail, etc.

A:Temporarily turn off email account in Yahoo mail

Yahoo email filters are poor; they only support the model:
block email-id is [email protected]and spammers continue to reach you by changing the user portion. Better email client software supports that as well as:
block email-id contains @domainand regardless of the email user, that domain gets blocked

fyi: Thunderbird is my favorite email software

Oh boy!

I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

Here is where I will start. My apologies, this might be long winded.
I was having problems with browsing (posted this prior) and wasn't getting anywhere with attempting to adjust browser settings. I was getting blocked going regular places. So... after getting very aggravated, I accessed Symantec's online chat help w/ an analyst. During this time, the analyst remotely accessed my computer on two occassions, ultimately finding out that the problem was not with the Norton 360 but was with IE (v.7). We were having problems with connectivity. He said his system said I was disconnected yet he was still in my system. He started a notepad doc to chat with me, saying that we were locking up and I should Google the verbage I was receiving during the browsing blocks I was receiving. As I was typing a response saying I have done that, we were disconnected. Since I knew what I had originally found, I disconnected completely and left it for today since more than 2-3 hours have now passed. Today, I cannot access my email. I receive an HTTP 405 error. (Programming error). I noted that in the heading, the address started like this: hxxp://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/toplevel/msgr6. After searching that on the web, I found that this is a BAD thing. I also noticed that the Phishing filter was off. Have you tried using an alternate browser like Firefox to see if you encounter the same problem? If you can use Firefox, then will narrow the problem down to an IE issue.Since you cannot run the Housecall or Panda scans, if you install Firefox you can then perform and online scan using Trend Micro Housecall Scan for Firefox. This also leads me to believe you have an ActiveX problem.

I just realized that I am unable to access my other users accounts (which are limited) desktops. I use documents and settings folder to get there, but I get this error:

"C:\Documents and Setting\Natalie and Dave\Desktop

Access is denied."

I can access the other limited account, but just not "Natalie and Dave's" desktop. I don't know why either, I am the only administrator account and I am able to access one of two limited accounts desktop.

Is there anything I can do, besides removing the account? Thanks!

A:Administrator account unable to access limited account's desktop?

You can try taking ownership if you're really an administrator.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421
I don't know what effect that will have when Natalie and Dave try to log in though (if they'll have permission to access their own Desktop that is).
The other possibility is corruption in the file system. If that's the case, run chkdsk /f from the command line (click start, (all) programs, accessories, command prompt, and type chkdsk /f press y and then reboot). When it reboots it will run the disk check, then reboot again. You can see the results of the chkdsk in your event viewer. (control panel (classic view), administrative tools, event viewer, application log, and look for events named winlogon).

Hey! What's up?

So, I set up a limited account for my roommate on my computer, but for some reason, she can't sign into hotmail or Yahoo mail - it doesn't matter which browser she uses (IE or Firefox), all she gets when she enters her email addy and password is "This page cannot be displayed" (in IE) or "Unable to connect" in Firefox.

I tried my email addresses and got the same thing. I have no problem signing into Myspace or Livejournal or any other password-accessible sites, I have no problem surfing the internet, and I have no problem signing into my email using MY account on XP (which is an administrator account). But for some reason, those sites will not allow us to check our email on a limited account.

Any thoughts? Thanks for your feedback.

While I have another post on this issue already, I considered it advisable to make another post due to some significant new information that should come to the attention of viewers. I have learned that my access problems with my Yahoo mail account are somehow browser related because I have installed two more browsers and have different results within each for accessing my Yahoo mail account.

With Google's Chrome browser (with MyYahoo home page installed) I have no issues whatsoever..yet, anyhow.

With IE8 (Yahoo optimized version) I can occasionally get access, but then I tend to get lengthy delays in page turning or ability to insert info on page until fully loaded, and/or outright freezes which cause me to have to utilize the task manager to end the process when I get "not responding" reports.

With Firefox (4) I cannot access my mail at all and get "404 Not Found" error messages when I try using access links (interestingly I have the same error message for the advertisement box/section on MyYahoo home page).

I have personally also run scans for malware with Avast, Malwarebytes, Ad Aware, and Mamutu, but found none. I have also made a log file of a scan by Trend Micro's 'Highjack This", but I see no way to copy and forward the scan results for viewing by others (such as this forum).

And finally, I have sent a request to Yahoo for help on this issue, but have not yet received a response.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how ... Read more

I have two user accounts with Internet Explorer and Yahoo homepages. One is clearly superior to the other: More and better information, and just looks better. I have tried to change the one I don't like to match the other, but I can't do it. It's probably something simple - I'm almost to the point of completely deleting the one I don't like and starting over. The only thing stopping me is that I don't want to lose my address book contents. I transfered my Favorites and made a copy of my address book, but I am having trouble getting the address book contents into the other Yahoo! Mail account. I downloaded and installed the latest IE8 version, but that didn't do anything(if I did it right). The one I like better is newer, but I don't know why or how I got it. ?

Im using Microsoft Explorer. About a week ago, I started having problems accessing Yahoo main page and Yahoo Messenger. It would take about 1/2 hour then all the sudden I could access either.

Now, I am unable to access anything Yahoo...not the main page and I can not sign into Yahoo Messenger at all.

I have access to all other websites. I have cleared history, cashe, and cookies still with no success.

I am able to access Yahoo main page through Yahoo but that doesnt help me much especially when it comes to Yahoo Messenger.

I even saved my important info and did a complete restore of my hard drive. I still cant access yahoo through internet explorer.

I downloaded Mozilla Foxfire and unable to access Yahoo through there either. Again, I can access any other website with no problem.

I went into options to even clear saved passwords. Actually, there were none there.

Anyone have an idea what is wrong or what I can do to repair this problem????

Thanks
Barry

Hi Yankeeno7,

Download Ccleaner, and clean up your internet cookies and temporary Internet Files. It may be something hidden in there, thats stopping your access.

If that fails It could be a problem with your Internet provider. Who is your provider ?

Hi folks. I have seen this problem pop up now and then on these boards before and have tried all suggestions, but cannot get this to work. The situation:

I am on Bell South DSL. I have set up a wireless network with a Linksys router, model no. WRTG54C. I have a Dell desktop which is wired directly to the router. I have a Toshiba laptop which is connected wirelessly. On the laptop, I cannot access certain secure websites with password protection. For example, with hotmail.com, I can access the hotmail.com home page, but when I key in my account info and password, I get a "Page Not Found" error. I also use a site for work, Westlaw.com which requires a password. Again, I can get onto the westlaw.com home page, but when I try to access my account, "Page Not Found"

The desktop is able to connect to my hotmail account, and the laptop is able to access my hotmail account when I am on my neighbor's wireless network, so I'm guessing it's not a problem with the laptop's firewall or anti-virus software.

Through this forum, I have seen a suggestion to manually set the MTU setting of the router to 1492. This has not worked for me. I have tried setting the MTU to 1482, 1472, 1462, nothing works. Can anybody help? I've been through 5 different Linksys tech people and they are stumped (no surprise there). Thanks!

Hello,

After every mail I send to a yahoo address I receive a mail warning that my address has been temporarily blocked due to user complaints. 'Don't worry, this usually doesn't last long', Yahoo promises, and in the end the message is (often?) delivered. But then it has been delayed for a while, which is sometimes annoying.

Does this mean I have malware in my computer that sends out spam? Scans haven't found anything, but that's no proof. And how can I make Yahoo trust my IP address again?

For an unknown reason, I cannot connect to any FTP site on this account. The account is set as an administrator account, with UAC turned off and no local firewall. I am using AVG Internet Security on the system.

I am able to connect to the same set of FTP sites I have tried from other computers on the network, along with other accounts on the computer (I have created throw-away account to test this, and they have all worked fine).

The inability to access is across all applications I have tried, including:
FileZilla
Windows Explorer
Internet Explorer
Firefox
Some java applet
FTP command-line

When using all but FileZilla and the FTP command, the error is mere unable to connect. The FTP command returns no error, and FileZilla returns 'Connection attempt failed with "EACCES - Permission denied".'

Multiple searches have returned no information as to why this is occurring, and I have seen nothing in the registry that should explain this.

I have been using Yahoo Mail for about a year and suddenly I'm unable to find or see my mail folders (In or Sent). Whenever I click on Y! Mail, the Compose screen comes up. There's no trace of my folders or any means of getting to them. If I compose and send a message, even then there's no way of finding the Sent folder.

I had no problem with Yahoo Mail originally but a couple of weeks ago I upgraded to the new Beta version. This was unsatisfactory as the messages didn't fit the screen because of ads to the right. To read any line completely, I had to use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom. So I went back to the earlier version and everything was fine for a while.

One day I noticed the Send an Ecard facility and explored it w/o actually sending an Ecard. I'm not sure whether I went back into the mail folders during that session but certainly the next time I logged on there was no trace of them and has not been since.

I had used up about 16% of my quota in Yahoo Mail before the problem arose.

I can find no way to contact Yahoo to notify them of the problem let alone ask for help. The only channel of contact is for complaints about abuse (SPAM essentially).

If I do a Google Desktop search for an item I know exists in the Yahoo Mail folders, a link comes up but it takes me straight into the Yahoo Mail Compose screen.

It appears that other Yahoo facilities, that I don't use, eg Calendar and Notepad, are still available.

My OS is Windows XP.

I have been blocked out my hotmail account since yesterday. I can't get to my emails and need to urgently. The email account has important contact details and am waiting on replies to jobs. When I've tried to go the Microsoft and Windows Forums to post my questions, I am asked for my sign in details! This is the reason why I'm contacting the forum's in the first place - I can't get in - am blocked from my own email.
I have also gone into Internet Options and cleared cookes, deleted browsing history, etc.

Can someone please help me reactivate my email account, restore my account back to me? I can't loose the information that's there. Thanks.

A:How do I unblock my hotmail account when it has been temporarily blocked?

Try here:

A program which lists the Winsock 2 LSP chain lists the following dlls:
NLAapi.dll
napinsp.dll
pnpnsp.dll

Can you access hotmail with another browser? You may just need to re-install IE7. That's usually the easiest thing to do when you get browser errors.

I hope this is the right place to put this thread.

I was online when we had a power outage 3 days ago and now I cannot get to my Facebook page.I cannot even open Facebook. Instead of getting the Facebook page asking me do I want to sign in or log on I am getting parts of facebook listed one under the other on the left hand side of the page.

Can anyone tell me how I can overcome this problem.

In Win 7 Home Premium, I apparently did something wrong as I can no longer access the administrator account on my desktop. I am logged in as a guest and have tried just about everything suggested here. I have started in Safe Mode but can't access admin. I have used the installation disk to do a repair and used the activate command in the command prompt. I used the "enableadmin" mentioned on this site. Regardless of what I do here, when I restart I am back in Windows as a Guest. Even doing a system restore made no difference.

It would appear I have to do a clean install but before doing so thought I would ask to see if there is anything else anyone can suggest.

A:Unable to access administrator account

have you created a password reset disc/usb??

you could try that and see if it works?

on the admin logon when it fails click reset password and use the disc/usb to reset it
make sure the disc or usb is already plugged in

just a thought

sadly my neighbour had the same problem, whoever was messing on the guest account had changed settings/services rendering admin account useless leaving me no choice but to reinstall

i'm sure theres a better solution and more technical folk will be able to help you

Hello,

I was curious if anybody knew this. I could not find it anywhere and had never heard of it. Is there a way to temporarily disable an email account? Like a pause button. So if I 'pause' a specific account (I have approx. 6 email accounts in my Outlook, mostly POP3 & Exchange), when I hit Send/Receive it will not be included, but if I 'unpause' it shall be included. Is there a feature like this?

If this is possible I'd like to implement this in a family members of mine computer. So it must be 'stupid proof' if it is.

Thanks!

So I have an administrator account for maintenance purposes and I also have my frequently used standard account.

Usually, when you right click on a program, for example: Spybot S&D

There is an option to "Run as Administrator".

And if you click it, it prompts for an admin password.

But for me, it does not ask for an admin password, it just ignores the fact that I clicked that completely, and runs it as a standard user.

This happens whenever I need admin privileges for something. I cannot elevate my privileges on a standard user account.

It used to work properly, until I changed my account type to standard, and enabled the Administrator account.

Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium

Dell Inspiron N7010

A:Cannot Elevate Privileges Temporarily on Standard User Account

Bump.

If it helps at all, whenever I click on something that needs admin elevation, a window pops up and says:

"The requested operation requires elevation"

One of the computers on a small office peer to peer network is unable to access google, bing and yahoo search engines. I updated Malwarebytes and ran a scan and it found 2 infections of Rogue.AntiMalwareLab which it quarantined and deleted successfully. I posted a copy of Malwarebytes log info below for your review. Still being unable to access the above search engines I flushed the dns cache and ran a winsock fix program to see if possibly damaged tcp/ip stacks or lsp were the problem. Still no success. It is able to access the internet just no search engines. I then installed and ran HiJack this. HiJack this message was that it could not gain access to the hosts file but it did generate a log and I have posted that here for your review below (it appears after the Malwarebytes log below). In order of appearance.

In Add/Remove Programs, uninstall the Yahoo instant messenger, restart your computer, install Yahoo IM. With MSN Messenger first uninstall Messenger then restart your computer. Then:

Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x comes with a repair tool. To use it, go to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel; Scroll and click to highlight 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 5/6.x' in the Install/Uninstall window; Then click on the Add/Remove button; Select 'Repair' the current installation of Internet Explorer radio button; Click on OK. Restart your computer when prompted.

Then install MSN Messenger.

I use Vista Ultimate edition 32 bit. I recently set up an account for my 3 year old grandson to use. However, every time I log off and/or switch users to enter his profile/account, all I am able to access is my account. I don't even see his account available for me to access.

I set up multiple accounts on my machine running XP (years ago) and when I logged onto the computer, all of the user accounts were visible. Not so with Vista. All I ever see when I boot the computer up is my account.

I am hoping this isn't a glitch in Vista.

Thanks ahead for any suggestions to this problem.

My brother uses Windows XP with IE. He had been able to access his anytime banking account and for some reason he is now unable to access. Gets message "must have a successful login before you can login". Have been working with the bank's customer service and they first assigned a temporary User ID and password which would not let him login either -got the same message. They had him check his security settings which are OK and suggested that he has a virus. He ran his antivirus scan and Malwarebytes and is clean. They now suggest that he download a different browser which I do not feel is the problem since he had been accessing account for some time. I can access his account from my PC and the only difference is that he uses AVG and I have Microsoft Security Essentials. Is there a security settings we are missing or do you have any other suggestions?
Thank You, tllh99
