I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I tried to replace the ODD with an online purchased HDD caddy. After installation, during boot up, it took long time to boot up and when login to windows, the second hard-disk cannot be found. What special caddy do I need? Or some thing I missed out at the bios (I did try all the order option in the bios)

Well, since no one had replied to my previous question, i will ask again.Firstly, how many time do i have to start a new topic to get noticed? My 1month old laptop freezes constantly, i don't know what is happening, checked everything related to the updates, drivers, errors, viruses, scans and that stuff, laptop doesn't have heating issues, app crashing, slowdowns... Did the lenovo slution center scans, it is all good. I heard from the other members that replacing motherboard wont solve the problem, so dont try that, i am asking you what else can i do? i cannot even browse the internet, play YT videos,I simply dont have time to waste, reinstalled win10, updtated to the latest bios and even that wont help, so i' am assuming that my device is faulty. How am i supposed to do my job, when i have unstable laptop? I am wondering will you replay this time, and please don't tell me to run lenovo solution center, or to update drivers, or to reinstall windows for the 4th time. I've had enough of it.Looking forward to your reply,Kind regards

Hi, I just got a new V310-15IKB notebook and I would like to use it with Windows 8.1. I installed the system but I cannot  find the Win8.1 drivers at the download page:http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cz/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-v-series-laptops/v310-15ikb/d... Suprisingly, Win7 drivers seem to be available, but there are no drivers for Win 8.1 listed. Where can I get the appropriate W8.1 drivers? So far, I have managed to get some of the things working (e.g. the wlan and camera) by intalling either the W7 or W10 drivers. However, the driver for the graphics chip seems to be troublesome. I tried installing the driver provided by Intel (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26836/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?v=...) but it refuses to intall and claims that minimum requirements are not met. What should be done to get around this issue?

Hi! I installed a SSD in my laptop and replaced the ODD with a HDD/SSD caddy with a WD HDD. There were issues like the laptop couldn't recognize the 2nd drive. Then I installed the Intel RST driver and now the laptop can read/write the hdd but it just sometimes can recognize it. When it does it works fine but after reboot, it doesn't shown up in Windows. In BIOS I allways see the two drives. If I enter BIOS before start the Windows allways sees the HDD until I reboot it. The controller mode is AHCI.Any suggestions? Regards,Imre

Hi. I bought a V310-15IKB (80T3). It was easy to upgrade the parts with my old Lenovo since all I had to do was remove the screws under the battery and the lid would come out. Now I want to connect my SSD to my new laptopn but I couldn't figure out how I can remove the back lid. I removed all the screws but I can't find a handle to grab. There are tutorials on Youtube for 15IKB, but on all of them, there is another hatch for HDD, but not on my model. I am adding pictures of my computer. I'd be glad if anyone can tell me how to remove the back lid.

A:How To Upgrade SSD On V310-15IKB (80T3

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Are you removing the optical drive first if so equipped?  By removing it will allow easier removal of the base cover from the top half.  Page #32 of your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual will explain how to remove the drive.  Starting on page #35 explains the base cover removal.  Here is a link to that manual for your reference......
There is also a Lenovo Training Video for the V510.  Although it is a slightly different model, the technique for removing the base cover should be the same.  Here is a link to that video series....

Hi everybody, I bought a new IdeaPad v310-15ikb, I have been using it for one week and I realized that fun is running all the time, although CPU usage is low (~5%) and its temperature is also ok (36°C, HWMonitor). The fun speed and noise that it does is not big but still audible, it starts quickly after switching on and never stops entirely. I installed the latest bios update yesterday, nothing changed so far. I would like to know if it is normal and I need to accept it (I don't want to return the laptop, I like it otherwise) or if there is a way how to solve it / control the fan speed. Thank everybody in advance.

Greetings, Two weeks ago, i bought Lenovo V310. Great laptop for the price, But, it freezes on its own from time to time. Laptop is brand new running windows 10. I have tested it with Lenovo Solution Center and it passes all the tests. But my main concern is why the laptop is unresponsive, i've tried pressing num and caps lock button to check if they would switch off but nothing happens. This is my second lenovo laptop and i have to say the previous one G580 worked better.  I bought this V310 for web development and those things should not happen. This problem occurs on Windows 10 and Linux Ubuntu. Do you have any tips how to fix this freezing issue, i cannot rely on the faulty laptop. Thanks,Kind regards!

I bought new V310-15IKB Laptop and I've been using it for three days. Today I turned it on like always (the battery was fully charged the day before, so without the charger connected to it) and a windows update popped out. But at the same time at the screen there was some weird message (I made a photo) So I clicked Enter and it turned on. I saw that the battery is 97% and connected the charger, but it wasn't charging at all to my surprise (it's written 'connected, not charging'). I reset the laptop and problem is still the same. When I disconnect the charger the battery is running lower (from 97% to 95% and so on), when I connect it it's not charging. It's a huge problem for me, I need laptop to work, so I asked my friend to help, but he checked the saving energy thing in lenovo companion and it's turned off, we have no idea why this problem with battery exists. I need my laptop for work, if I can't get it fixed in a few days I have to go to the shop and return the laptop and buy something else instead. I really like it, don't want to do that, anyone can help me with my problem? And sorry but English is not my first language, I tried to translate everything the best I could.

I have a brand new IdeaPad 320 and a brand new USB-C dock (40A90090US). I did have to install the driver for the dock (no mention of that in any documentation!) and most things now appear to be working (keyboard, mouse, storage) EXCEPT for the monitor outputs. Neither the two dock DP ports (with DP-DVI adapters) nor the VGA output produce any output, and no additional monitors show up on my Multiple Displays screen (which does work when I plug the monitor into the laptop's HDMI port directly). Is the USB-C dock just incompatible with an IdeaPad 320? I was told during an online chat prior to purchase that it would work, with the exception of USB-C charging. I feel like I'm missing a driver (I tried DisplayLink but apparently that's not it either).

Your laptop model is not listed as being compatible with that dock (40A90090US) per the the list of compatible systems at http://accsmartfind.lenovo.com/products/40A90090US, so that may be your problem.    Best of luck,

Hi there, I purchased a USB Type-C portable monitor (AOC, I1601FWUX) to connect it to my Ideapad 520-15IKB (PN: 81BF,    BIOS: 6JCN24WW,    OS: Win10 x64 version 1803-last version ever). Whenever I connect the cable, the monitor turns on, displays AOC logo and then a "No Signal" error message appears on the screen. Also, a message comes up on my laptop screen saying that "Display connection might be limited" (See the attached image) I installed its driver as instructed here, updated the OS, installed the "Lenovo Vantage" app and updated the System Interface Foundation... I then tried to set the power mode to best performance (See the attached image)... It looks everything is updated and working properly but the external monitor. How can I get it to work? Cheers

Last week I bought the Lenovo Ideapad 320-15IKB. So far I am pretty satisfied, but I'm having trouble connecting it to my external monitor with a HDMI cable. I've tried multiple HDMI cables, tried the monitor with another laptop and it worked fine, I also bought a USB-C to HDMI converter and that's not working either. So I don't think it's a hardware problem. In the picture I added you can cleary see the laptop detects my external monitor (LG IPS FULLHD) as the second screen, but on the monitor I get a "no signal message". I looked at all the topics similar to mine, but haven't found a solution yet. Anyone familiar with this problem? Thanks.

As in my subject, can the Yoga 720 (15-inch) be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor? I understand that I have to get a usb-c to DisplayPort adaptor to get it to work. However, I am not sure of the DisplayPort specifications in this Thunderport 3 port of Yoga 720 as for a laptop to run 144Hz on an external monitor, it has to be at least DisplayPort 1.2.

A:Yoga 720 - 15IKB: Can it be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor?

I'm not an expert with monitors, but I'd check the monitor's specs to see what kind of inputs it'll work with. I would imagine the monitor will upscale or adapt to the input signal. It'd be silly to make a monitor that wouldn't work with anything the installed base of computers can throw at it.

A:Can't connect external monitor to Ideapad 320-15IKB with HDMI cable

Hi, welcome to the forum.
My guessing on this are  will be:
1) Try the "Windows Key + P" combination, try the extend and duplicate to see if you get an image on the monitor.
2) You already tried different HDMI cables, it may be interesting to also check some other TV that  you may have arround to see if you get image. Also, if you use some apdater (DP to HDMI or other) it may be interesting to try some others.
3) Go to  the support site of the "Ideapad 320-15IKB" and update the BIOS and the Video drivers. Lenovo Vantage can also help you to have you drivers up to date.
After trying that, if you get no good results, maybe it is some hardware issue.

Greetings all,

My ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is recognized as Generic Non-PnP Monitor. I even downloaded and attempted to install Viewsonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64". It times out at the end of installation and requests I download "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed" from Viewsonic website.

My display view is set at max res of 1600x1200. I am running Win7-Ultimate 64bit.

Is there any other way to get Win 7-Ultimate 64bit to recognize the monitor as VX? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 256MB card.

Thank you

A:ViewSonic VX2450wm-LED monitor is a Generic Non-PnP Monitor

If you need to know, here is how I fixed it.
First install ViewSonic's "Standard_Monitor_Driver_Signed_Win7_x64"
Go to Device Manager
Select Monitor drop down tab
Select Generic PnP Monitor
Right-Click on Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Update Driver Software"
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Select from the models listed: Generic PnP Monitor
Select option "Have Disk..."
Select "Browse..."
Navigate to where the ViewSonic monitor drivers are stored
Example: C:\ViewSonic
Select monitor driver
Example: VX2450_SERIES
Click "Open"
Click "OK"
Select from the pop up window:
ViewSonic on the left and ViewSonic VX2450 Series on the right
Click "Finish"

Finally, you will receive the message: Windows has successfully updated your driver software.
Notice resolution is now 1680x1050

After successful install of Nvidia drivers for my laptop's "nvidia geforce 9300m gs" current version:

186.19 to new version: 260.99, the max res cannot be set to the following available resolutions:
1920x1200, 1920x1440 or 2048x1536

It's hard to pinpoint when/ how this started. Occasionally the screen wouldn't turn on. Laptop would otherwise boot normally. At first I thought it was related to coming out of sleep, but then one day I noticed the display would work by pressing (applying pressure) to the lower right portion of the screen (above the hinge). So for a few months I did this whenever it happened. Eventually I had to do it every time I turned it on. This is a touchscreen, but the pressing I applied seemed to be affecting a connection behind the screen. Sometimes I needed to apply decent pressure (actually flexing the screen some), and sometimes it took a couple tries to find the right spot to apply it. Eventually this stopped working altogether, and have resorted to using a 2nd monitor. I started researching the issue again, and have not found much related to my exact issue. The interesting thing is I realized that the touchscreen is still functioning. I had set the display to duplicate, and noticed I can still perform touch functions on the laptop screen that showed up on the 2nd monitor. I watched a screen replacement vid for this model to try and understand what's behind this screen. I'm hoping it may be a simple fix with a bad connection going on. It appears all the main connections are at the bottom center of the screen. Nothing near the spot I had to press to get it to work, but maybe I was still flexing enough in that area to affect the connections at the center. I can't... Read more

So Riddle me this Tech Support Guys. Our Viewsonic vx2235wm Monitor recently started acting up.

Now by acting I mean the resolution is stuck at 1280x800. Instead of the native 1680x1050
So what have I done?
•Gotten unsigned and signed updated drivers for it from viewsonic. But it should run on Generic PnP Monitor drivers (it does, I tested it on other computers)
•Gotten the newest Windows 7 32-bit drivers for the laptop's Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
•Updated the driver of the Viewsonic Monitor manually to Generic PnP and restarted to no avail
•Contacted Viewsonic customer service where they told me stuff I already knew (ie: monitors are plug and play and shouldn't need drivers)

So here's the enigma.
#1: If I plug in the monitor to another laptop or another computer, resolution is fine (using the SAME VGA cable that's connected to the ailing laptop, trying to keep things consistent after all and heretofore it should be assumed, unless stated otherwise, that we use the same cables.)
#2: If I plug in one of our other monitors to the ailing laptop, Resolution is fine and the new monitor is detected no problem.
#3: When I plug in the viewsonic monitor to the ailing laptop, Generic Non-PnP Monitor is detected and no resolution options are given.

So anyone have any ideas? I figure something is saved in Windows that's detecting the new monitor as a Generic Non-PnP Monitor and I need to change it but I don't know how. Please help

A:PnP Monitor Detected as Generic Non-PnP Monitor

Hi all,

This issue really bugs me, every few months it'll happen, one of my three screens (9/10 times it's the Acer), will display as a "Generic Non-PnP Monitor", with this it'll only display in 640*480 (usually 1920*1080, same as the other 2 screens).

This set up works perfectly most of the time, and has done for the last few years, but as I said it comes and goes. I've done a lot of research online and the best advice I can find is that when it happens if I unplug it all, and let the capacitors drain in the monitor and GPU then when reconnecting everything it'll work fine. I've done this before and it's not worked, I've also done it and it's worked. I've also had it in the past where it's just reverted back to how it's supposed to be mid use.

My set up:
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU: Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. CM6330_CM6630_CM6730_CM6830
Display 1: SONY TV ([email protected])
Display 2: Samsung S24B300 ([email protected])
Display 3: Acer S240HL ([email protected]) <--- Displaying as "Generic Non-PnP Monitor ([email protected])"
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

I've got the latest drivers for all the hardware, I've got the latest windows updates for everything. I've tried older versions of the drivers for the GPU, no difference with the issue.
I've been to the Acer website to download a driver specifically for the monitor, but they haven't got one on there for this montior on this OS, j... Read more

So...like many others, my Windows 7 32bit system was working "fine" yesterday. I turned it on today to see that my 4 monitor configuation was out of order and the resolutions were all wrong. This was devastating!
I panicked! I started surfing the web for fixes, installing updated drivers, reading forum after forum only to be met with disapointment and frustration. How can this happen?! Nothing changed! My God! Yet I perservered...and heres how I "fixed" it.

First I calmed down, thought it through. The damn thing worked yesterday. So that means, the system should already have everything I need to fix the problem. Right? Right! So...

*Right-click on your desktop and select "screen resolution".
*Select the monitor in question (in my case it was monitor #4, my 32" Vizio) right click on it and select properties.
*Select the Driver tab and click update driver.
*Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
*Uncheck the box "show compatable hardware"
*In standard monitor types (or your brand may be in the list) find the resolution your monitor was running (mine was 1920x1080 60Hz)
*Click next and it should install...and you may need to restart you computer, not sure.
* Last but not least, you may also need to go back and change the screen refresh rate. After it puts the new driver in, for some reason, it may be the correct resolution, but not the correct refresh rate. Change it in the monitor tab under ... Read more

So i have this sony vaio vpceb26fg Laptop

it had a radion inbuilt video card innit which became faulty around 8 months back
i went to the service centre guys and he told since its working fine on the other default driver
i shd keep using it cuz , my problem can only get repaired if i change the motherboard which wud cost a lot like 1/4th the cost of my laptop

so i used it that way all the while . the heating problem and everything was too much
then one day i was cleaning my laptop s creen with a solution and when i switched it on i saw 2 vertical lines on right end . i knew that my screens got gone too but since it was very mild i kept on using it
and today suddenly everything gt changed

i am assuming the standard video card which it was running on before is also gone ??

is there a way to check

and yes it looks exactly like the windows xp screen used to look when u install windows without its drivers

am on windows 7 , i tried installing driver but it shows blue screen on startup so i recovered windows and tried next best possible configuration .

I just want to check is my onboard videocard gone the standard one
or it has something with screen now
or is it something else

can i like get anything done to it now am typing this from the same laptop
my desktop i snot working from many days

I'm having a problem with my computer outputing to my tv. I have 2 hd tvs, one is the Sony Bravia KDL-42V4100 and when i connect my PC through VGA it doesn't output in a 1080p resolution. On the other tv also a Bravia and this is 720p and it works just fine. But on the bigger 1080p Bravia the highest resolution can get is 1680x1050 and is being recognized by my video card as a Generic Non-PNP Monitor. It isn't a problem with VGA because i have tried DVI/HDMI from my friend. I stretched this resolution to fit but still has black bars on the desktop and even wider ones with movies and youtube videos. I am hoping to get this problem solved soon. I would like a quick response but a detailed one is more appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I recently purchased a new PC which I'm positive can run two monitors simultaneously.
I currently have a monitor connected via DVI and a monitor connected via HMDI, they both are working but it shows the same screen on both monitors. I've tried to change the resolution on my monitors to have it extend seamlessly from the first monitor to the next, but it's only coming up with one monitor selection, and it is named 'generic pvp monitor on standard vga graphics adapter'. Every time I try to change the resolution on one screen it does it for both.

Any ideas on how I should proceed to get both monitors working the way I want?

My computer specs are -

AMD A8 6600K 3.90 GHz Quad Core Processor
Radeon HD 8570D Graphics

Do I just need to download some drivers or?

Sorry for posting another thread, but I am going to pull my hair out.... I upgraded to windows 7 and now this thing says that i have a Generic Pnp Monitor? and there is no 3d card listed in the Device Manager besides the Intell Mobile Chipset thing.... I Tried all of the older drivers and they won't let me install them, I tried to manually pick out the card from the list in the update part of Device Manager and when I went to restart the computer windows wouldn't ever open correctly, so I disabled it and now I am just stuck!

Any assistance is muchly appreciated!!!!

My 27" Hyundia LCD TV/Monitor had the same issue. The answer is yes and no. W7 will assign a generic driver to operate the monitor and it will work ......as well as it works. In my case and likely your's when I went to Hyundia's site there wasn't any specific driver support for my monitor/TV. You should go and investigate Vizio's support site and see if a specific W7 driver is listed and if so then download and install. Good luck.

Hello there This is my first time ever using this forum, and I have a question which I have been trying to fix for a while now.
Sorry if I'm not that experienced because I only have been studying computing for 2 years, but anyway to the question. So about 2 days ago I plugged in my Xbox360 into my PC monitor by first removing the VGA connected to the monitor from the computer and then connected the special made Xbox360 VGA to my monitor, after I was done using it, I plugged back my PC's VGA monitor and and switched on my computer. Now this is where the trouble started because when the Windows start up animation came in I notices the resolution was to low and everything looked magnified, so I went to the screen resolution options which supposedly look like this , except of course the brand name, but mine isn'y like that, it's instead like this. Now I cannot choose the recommended screen res. but only list of resolutions which i don't know which one is good for my monitor. and I also noticed that small things such as text lost their quality and look somewhat faded a little, almost like when you turn anti-aliasing to low in a game. Anyway hope that someone helps me because it's quite frustrating for this to happen.

P.S- I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and a ViewSonic 20" VG2021m monitor
