Question regarding upgrading IE from my current 5.00.2314.1003 version

Q: Question regarding upgrading IE from my current 5.00.2314.1003 version

Apparently, I'm using quite an old version of Internet Explorer, my sister just told me. My question is, do I have to download each upgrade one at a time....or can I just download IE 6 without any problems?

If I can simply download IE 6, do I have to first uninstall my current IE? And (this is a dumb question) but IE 6 covers all the updates of the previous version's service packs, right?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sue

Preferred Solution: Question regarding upgrading IE from my current 5.00.2314.1003 version

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,
after all the invitation for getting win 10 for free , I finally decided to spent little time on it, before ending the offer, I used the windows update (control panel) and updated the system with all the important and optional updates then started the upgrading
( downloading ) win 10 , after sometimes and just before finishing the download of about 3 G data , here the was an error and had to start the download again and i did but the same happened just at the end of downloading progress, using huge amount of time
and data , it is like no thing is done , no data stored no thing ,( why Microsoft doesn't use the down loader which can be faster and also keep at least part of the data usable after fixing the problem ??!) anyhow i got this error Code 80200013 last time and
Code 80200053 first time ..... the free download time is also past ... can i do anything about it pls ???

Hi guys

I currently am happily running Vista HP 64 and I'll upgrade to 7 once it comes out. The problem is, I have the Dutch version of Vista, so I'll have to upgrade to the Dutch version of 7. Now, as you all know, here in Europe we got this bull**** E version which doesn't give us the opportunity to do an upgrade install. I have my current Vista installation perfectly sorted out on a very powerful machine.

I have over 100 programs installed and everything, from the map structure on the disk to the start menu is perfectly neat. I don't feel like starting all over when I switch over to 7. And I really want to switch over to 7. I'm running it on my MSI Wind netbook since RC1 and I'm very impressed and happy with it.

Do you guys think there will be some clever hackers/tweakers that will be able to slipstream IE into the installation, so I still can do an upgrade install? How big are the chances of that. I was particularly looking forward to the upgrade install option because it went so smooth in tests.

Oh, and I'm not referring to illegal versions here. I will buy the original version. I'll probably get a discount since I work at a computer store.

A:Question about upgrading Vista > the E version

hi and welcome to sevenforums. I know this is your first post but be careful we dont deal in links, cracks, hacks or anything illegal. Doing so will get you banned.
that being said legally you can upgrade to 7 and there is some discussion agt M$ allowing a choice screen instead of browserless.
Hope this helps

Greetings Techspot forum people. I am wanting to upgrade my PC, but without having to replace my motherboard, so I am just wondering what is the best hardware I can actually get for my make and model. I feel a bit lazy asking, but when it comes to actual hardware Im a bit clueless and more than a bit paranoid of getting something wrong All help would be much appreciated as I know you probably have better stuff to do, but Im sure there are a tonne of people out there to whom stuff like this is second nature Here goes...

My MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-EG41MF-US2H (Link- http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3469#ov)
*Some other specs
Current CPU- Celeron E3200 dual, overclocked to about 3.2
OS- Win XP 32 bit (yeah, I know)
GPU- GeForce 8800GTX
Memory- 2GB (Because of 32 bit OS)
PSU- 650W
This PC was built from scratch by an old friend of mine especially for me. I am based in the UK (England, Lancashire) and we usually buy most of our parts from http://www.scan.co.uk/ who have a store in Bolton, which is not far from us. I really dont want to replace the motherboard and therefore buy a WHOLE new system, so any help regarding any one piece of hardware would be great

If any more info is needed, I will try my best. I used CPU-Z to get most of it.
Thanks in advance!
Kyle.
Edit: I use my PC primarily for gaming.

A:Help upgrading my current PC

Most important question: what's your budget?

If you're gaming the GPU will be the best upgrade, but recommendations all depend on your budget.

If you want you can get a Core 2 Duo/Quad to replace your Celeron, but they're legacy products now and you'll have to buy one off eBay. It's probably advisable not to upgrade your CPU/mobo/RAM and save up for a new combo.

Hi!

Consulting http://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/support/solid-state-drives/000017245.html the Firmware of your Version is current, since there is an older Version 4PC10362 listed as the most current version.

However, this doesn't answer your question completely, since hp might provide even more current firmware-versions.

On my system the firmware version is the same as yours, 4PC10365, the only difference being: I already DID install the firmware upgrade!

There is another problem with the firmware upgrade 1.20 from the hp-downloads-site:

Installing this upgrade is working fine until necessary reboot: Reboot fails every time, producing an error 0x0000098 "application missing or corrupt", when the file loadvf.bin from the upgrade-directory should be booted.

I am worried that the firmware-upgrade might not be complete.

Intel-Tools all state that the firmware is fine and current, perhaps because they check for the older Intel-Version.

My Install of Windows X64 Pro is an EFI-Install. Might that cause the problem?

Regards,
TeckieMackie

I've tried all the methods I can find, and I'm not so strong with boot files or images in general.

I have an image of my current system, created last night ( created in windows 7 from the "Ctrl Panel> Recovery>Create a system image" option) stored on my external 1.5Tb drive. It is stored in the "WindowsImageBackup" folder that was created and contains two .vhd files. one is obviously the image at 39Gb)

With my system running (Win7 Home Premium) I want to install this image onto a new, larger HDD and then replace my current drive ( 80Gb ) with the new, larger drive (320Gb ).

I simply want to copy the image from my external 1.5Tb drive to a "New" 320Gb drive (connected to my system via a USB2.0 to IDE and SATA cables that I use for backing up people's files and things from crashed machines) The "new" drive shows up in "Disk Manager" as "E", healthy partition, formatted, etc.

Is there a way to install my backed up image to my 320Gb external drive, THEN open my desktop pc, and replace my current 80 Gb drive with the 320Gb drive (already imaged and bootable as if nothing changed except the size of the drive) ?
Also, do I need to delete the partitions on the "new" 320Gb drive so that it shows up as unallocated space?

I hope this makes sense. Many thanks in advance.

A:Upgrading HDD with current Win7 image

It may be easier to boot to a Linux "Live" CD and use the "dd" command to do a bit copy of the 80gb hard drive over to the 320gb drive.

I actually did this myself a couple weeks ago from an 80gb to a 500gb. The only "issue" I had was that when the data xfer was complete, I had an 80gb partition on the new 500gb drive. But that was a simple fix through disk manager, by extending the 80gb partition to the full 500gb in a couple clicks.

Recently I have gotten hold of 4 2 TB HDD's and want to put them into my PC.
My PC at the moment has 2 500GB HDD's and I am sick of having to store my data on other network PC's, Flash drives and DvD disks.
SO what I wanted to do was remove my current HDD's, throw in the 2 TB HDD's and set up raid 0 stripping. But I also want to somehow get all the data from my old HDD's and put them on my new PC. This is very important because some of the programs on my old PC can't be reinstalled due to a loss of CD keys and CD's, and updating all my programs would require me to use 2 months worth of bandwidth.
To add to the complication I am going from 32 bit vista premium to 64 bit ultimate to make use of my 8 GB of RAM which I am currently only using about 3 GB of atm.
Could Anyone link me a step by step guide of transferring my old data onto a new PC as if it were installed? As in all registry files copied over and every program thinks it has been installed. For updating purposes I can't just copy + paste them into a new PC, registry and pathing won't allow for it.
Unfortunately I don't have another PC capable of using 3.5" HDD's, my only other PC's are all laptops...
Sorry if this seems obvious/stupid, but I have never experienced the process myself.

A:Upgrading Vista and HDD's but want my current data.

If you were using the same OS (32 bit) you could just clone over your old HDD to the new striped set and it would do a mirror copy but have lots more room. But since your upgrading to 64 bit then that will not be possible without reinstalling each program. However you can copy your music, photos, and text documents.

What is the current thinking on upgrading to Windoows 10.

There is lots of commentary on this but most of the posts are dated.

I have an Acer PC touch screen with Win 8 pre loaded with upgrades installed. Not super technical and don't want to screw up what is working. But 8.1 support will eventually disappear as XP.

A:Current status of upgrading to Windows 10

My current thinking is:

1) Wait a while. MS is going to be releasing a new upgrade to Win10 that will, for the first time, allow you to do a clean-install of Win10 and THEN manually enter the product key of your previous OS. That is supposed to come out some time next week.

2) Make an image backup of your current setup using a third-party imaging/restoration tool BEFORE doing the upgrade. My recommendation is to use Macrium Reflect. Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives.

What I recommend is the following:
1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)
2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick
3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CD

NOW, you have the means to restore a full working system from the external drive or USB stick in only a few minutes.

3) Use the Media Creation Tool to do the Upgrade, not Windows Update: Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

You can either create install media (DVD or USB) or you could choose the option Upgrade this PC now. Either approach will work.

1.7ghz P4 (Dell 4400)
768mb PC2100 RAM--maximum is 1.024 gb, only PC2100
MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200 64mb
Soundblaster Live Value 5.1 w/ OEM speakers
40GB Western Digital HD
160 GB Maxtor HD, both connected to a SIIG ATA 133 PCI card

I have cable internet access, so I play online games like Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam. I have had to play on the mid-level settings. I would like to play at the high-level settings.

My questions are:

(1) Is it worth it to buy the 512mb stick of RAM and max the system out, i.e., will it improve gameplay?

(2) There's a good deal going on a Radeon 9600XT right now at Circuit City. Is it worth buying that card or a 9800 Pro and putting it in this system until I build a new one?

(3) If I buy one of the above cards, I'll need a new power supply. Any recommendations? Would I be better off buying a new case?

(4) Is there anything else I could do?

My goal here is to maximize game play until I'm forced to buy or build a new system, which, for gaming, will require some money.

I appreciate any answers someone can provide. Thanks.

Hello I just joined this forum and wanted to ask a few questions.

I am currently running Vista and it has always crashed, programs "Stop Responding" constantly, but revive after a minute. Occasionally I have to go to Task Manager and close certain programs. Since 2007, I have had to use revert back to a save spot, a handful of times which resolved all the issues, except Stop Responding programs. I think my multi-tasking bogs down the 2 core cpu and 4gb ram.

I was waiting for the new windows to come out and I keep hearing they bombed again. I am concerned about security, I dont want Bill collecting my data. Plus it seems Bill is going towards the monthly pay scheme for programs now. Anyway I hear nothing but rave reviews of Windows 7 even though its old. A:Upgrading current sys with Vista, to W7 - A history and some questions

Microsoft no longer sells Windows 7, you may find some legit copies on-line, though these are likely to be OEM licenses, and they are often treated as a premium item so prices are set accordingly. The issue with an OEM copy is that these are Tied to the hardware they are first installed with and cannot legally be transferred to new hardware, (Motherboards are considered new hardware so if you do install windows 7 do it after you have your new MB installed).

As for cooling the processor, it depends on the package you get, Some include basic cooling, some include more advanced, some include just the processor, (not even including thermal paste)

Biggest bottleneck in my system right now is my boot drive, which is a WD velociraptor. I want to change this for dual 120GB SSD's in Raid 0 configuration. Can anyone walk me through the steps to copy over the existing Win7 64 install onto the SSD's, I dont want to have to load everything again, just want to copy the image over and go from there.

thanks
Freddie

A:upgrading to SSD Raid 0 and keeping current install

You could use Clonezilla or EaseUS Todo Backup to image from the WD drive to the 120 SSD drive and then setup the raid.

What is Shadow Defender ?

Shadow Defender is an easy-to-use security solution (for Windows operating systems) that protects your PC/laptop real environment against malicious activity and unwanted changes.

Shadow Defender can run your system in a virtual environment called 'Shadow Mode'. 'Shadow Mode' redirects each system change to a virtual environment with no change to your real environment. If you experience malicious activity and/or unwanted changes, perform a reboot to restore your system back to its original state, as if nothing happened.

With Shadow Defender, you have the flexibility to specify which files and folders are permanently saved to the real environment. This ensures important files and folders are kept after a reboot.

Try Shadow Defender for the most effective and easy-to-use security solution.

Shadow Defender Features

1. Prevent all viruses and malware.
2. Surf the internet safely and eliminate unwanted traces.
3. Protect your privacy.
4. Eliminate system downtime and maintenance costs.
5. Reboot to restore your system back to its original state.

available for 32 & 64 bits systems

RE: Shadow Defender

This is a great program, much better that it's main competitor Returnil.
Shadow Defender is user friendly ( as much as a virtualization program can be :shy: ) and if you don't do anything stupid like turning off the "Shadow Mode" and then running some unknown/malicious program ,your system will be 100% safe.

The price is also fair ,only 35$ for a lifetime license with 100% FREE product updates.

Hi All,

At work I'm tasked with inventorying our servers, and my boss wants a complete listing of the applications installed on it and their current version.

I can easily get a list of installed applications from Installed Programs, however the version listed is the version when it was installed, not the current one.

Would Sisoft Sandra (business ed or higher) be able to do it? I know that it will give me a list of installed apps, but what other details would it give me? (research/googling didn't bring up anything conclusive, there is no biz level trial available either)

I'm hoping to not have to comb through every single program and get it from the "about" menu.

Also, to add another complication to the problem, if I can't get a program to do the querying for me, how the heck would I look up the current version of programs like "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services ADOMD.NET" or "SQL 2008 R2 Reporting Services Sharepoint 2010 Add-in" which do not appear as an individual program on the start menu?

A:program to query all applications installed and their current version

After doing some research I think taskinfo might work out, anyone use that program?

Yesterday I decided to download WIN 10 Pro 64 bit with the media creation tool to generate an ISO file as I needed to do a fresh install on several machines. I had assumed that I would get the current 1511 version but I got the previous 10240 version . Now I know that MS pulled this November update after a dew days of release but then re-instated again on the 24th Nov.
My broadband speed is "pathetic" so I had to download the 1511 upgrade once the initial installation was finished. This meant 18 hours had to elapse and I will still have to download the TH2 upgrade on every machine---no thanks---will stick with Win 7 !

Anyone get any idea why I got the old version of Win 10 ?

Since December my IE has not been operating properly. I would often get a message to upgrade my browser to higher than ie 5.5 (I was running ie11) or that my browser was out of date. I have since run Ad-Aware and removed some malware and am using compatibility mode so this issue seems to have resolved for the most part though I am still having issues accessing websites. They freeze up, close down, some websites lose their formatting and come up as just text. When I click the browser back button it will not take me back, it will only refresh the current page I am on. If I click it twice quickly I am sometimes able to go back to google search. Programs that require Flash or Java are asking me to update it but when I check, I have the latest version. When I open a new tab in IE, I click the home button and it take my previous tab to google rather than the new tab I am on. Have also had these issues in Firefox, but it's more noticeable in IE.

I have a WD hard drive that I access via cloud, but when I try and access, it takes me to the Oracle website after I log in, rather than my hard drive like it is supposed to. So I am unable to access from this computer.

I am not super tech savvy, so please bare with me

I am running Avast anti-virus and also have Ad-Aware downloaded. I ran MalwareBytes and came up empty (it has since been removed). I've had some help here and there, but so far the issues remain and it's driving me crazy!

Thank you for any help you can pr... Read more

I just got a new computer and upgraded to Window 7. I cannot live without my Firehand Ember. It is the program that I have used for the last 10 years and have no desire to go to a new program. Someone on these boards left information on how to adapt it to Windows 7. But I have also read nightmare stories about how the writer of this program put something into the program so it will crash your computer.

My cousin who set up my computer does not want to install it for me so I told him I would check the forums and find out in others have been able to safely download Firehand Ember and adapt it to Windows 7.

Please, please, if you have had a good or bad experience with Firehand Ember and are still using it or have stopped using it, I would like to hear from you. Thanks.

A:Firehand Ember - is it safe to download the current free version

Judging from this Wikipedia article, I would look for something else. It was developed in the XP days.

Lately (last few days? week+ a bit?) every time I log in, or unlock after resuming from hibernation, I see - twice - a message saying something to the effect that "the current thunderbolt firmware version is" (and a number).Q#1 I never saw message about Thunderbold until recently; why is this appearing now? And,Q#2 Why does this appear (at all, and, twice) every time I login/ unlock after resuming from hibernation? This isn't the kind of status information that the user expects to see unless there is something wrong, some action needs to be taken. But Lenovo Update doesn't find anything (neither that built in to Lenovo Companion nor that on the Lenovo support website), and there appears to be no error/ update-needed condition.thank you,

Hi,i have a  AIO 510-23ISH Model F0CD00DWGE.Using 'wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion' in cmd it says my current BIOS version is O31KT15A.When looking on the Lenovo support page for my model, it suggests a rather new BIOS:BIOS for Winows 10 (64-bit) - ideacentre AIO 510-22ISH, AIO 510-23ISH:  Version O2JKT20A from 2017/07/28When running the O2JKT20A flash update it says 'BIOS version of ROM file does not match the current BIOS'From my understanding I would need a O31KTxxA BIOS update with xx being e.g. 20 as an update.Any ideas why a wrong BIOS version file is suggested or if there is any BIOS update at all for my model? Many thanks!MB

Hi
I would like to make a clean install of win7. Using the 32bit version(I have the cd), doesn?t make sense anymore to me so I need the 64bit iso, but how do I get it?? Microsoft stopped this download service for consumers and Dell, from where I bought the computer&OS, has also nothing to do with it...
I would like later to upgrade to win10 64bit.
Does anybody have an idea how I can upgrade from win7 32 to win7 64 bit?
Thanks
S.

A:Upgrading OEM version from 32 to 64bit

This should be based on whether you have 3gb or more RAM to run 64 bit smoothly. If so then it discusses how to find safe reinstallation media in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

Hi there,

I recently went through a ton of issues with my lenovo y510p laptop and since it didn't come with a recovery disc, I was forced to reinstall windows 8 through a recovery disc on a usb stick. However, the only one I was able to get was an "evaluation version" of windows, so I've lost my original version of windows 8 after the reinstall. Is there any way to find my old key so that I can upgrade? I've tried a key finder, but it only finds the evaluation key.

Would I have to contact Lenovo to see if they can give me my product key or is there an easier way?

Hi..
After upgrading to IE 11 from IE 9 with all prerequisite patches, I still see IE 9 outlined when i look for the version of it by clicking on About internet explorer, whereas when i look for registry key version "HKLM/software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer"
it shows 9.11.9600.18282 which to my knowledge refers to IE 11.
In order to resolve the issue i tried removing IE 11 completely by executing below command which did not help
FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
Along with it i tried following things to resolve the issue which did not help as well
- Uninstalled IE 11 patches and IE 11 itself from add/remove features
- Ran sfc /scannow
- Ran Update readiness tool
After doing above, when i again install IE 11 it still shows IE 9 as shown in below images.

Any suggestions....

Is there a difference ? If so, . .

What is the recommended procedure ?

I found this but it leaves me hanging.

Since it may take a while to download this I'll do it at night, and just hold the installation.

I recently bought a laptop with 8 GB of Ram yet it came with the Windows 7 32bit version. I plan to install the 64 bit version yet since I have a SS want to know what its the best way to do this. Should I delete everything from my SSD first? If so how do I do this? Thanks in advance.

A:Upgrading to 64bit version

You will need to backup any data you want saved and do a clean install, as you cannot upgrade from 32- to 64-bit. You don't need to delete the SSD. The install will do this for you.

Clean Install Windows 7

Barefoot Kid suggests this first...
