I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm wanting to access the advanced options on the bios of my E555. I'm trying to troubleshoot the poor performance that this laptop has had since it was new out of the box. My bios only shows me very basic options. Is there a way to enable advanced options or is this simply a basic bios? If it is a basic bios, do I have options that might enable those features? My warranty is expired so I'm not concerned about tinkering with it. Thanks.

A:How to acess Advanced Options in InsydeH20 BIOS?

Hi, No matter what settings you will apply to the BIOS you will not see more options than you currently see. The settings which are not available are settings which are locked by acer. Thus you cannot change them, unless you make a custom/modded BIOS for the machine.

Hi, I will try to explain myself the best I can (i do not speak english).
Here we go: I bought this (Satellite C655D-S5518) from a friend, thinking on a proyect for this laptop. The problem is despite all my efforts browsing the net i can not find a way to display all options in Advanced Features. The bios is the lastest (1.80), the version of the insyde is 3.5.
The options I need is basically the FSB, multiplier, voltage, etc. I don't care if this laptop fries o burn in hell, i bough it for less than 50 US dollars.
Is there a way to acces that part of the BIOS?, something, key combination for example?. I don't want to make a backup of the BIOS, learn how to modificate the code to display that information and flashing it. If theres no option I will go for that, but i want to explore all the options before go to the atomic-nuke solution.

I hope is a easy solution.
Thanks, and be safe.

I have a computer that is stuck in a loop and won't boot into normal or safe mode. There is a blue screen flashing up, but way too quick for me to be able to see the STOP code.

The problem I have is that the American Megatrends BIOS 2.51, has an option on the boot screen "Press F8 for BBS Popup". Therefore I can't use the F8 key to get into the Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Why the hell has a BIOS manufacturer hijacked an important Windows key?????

I have also tried pressing the F8 key AFTER the BIOS screen, but even by doing that you still get a boot order list by pressing F8, and not the Advanced Options menu.

Does anyone know how to either:
1. Disable the Press F8 for BBS Popup in the BIOS? (I've looked, so has a workmate, but we can't see it)

2. Is there an alternative to using the F8 key to access the Advanced Options menu?

Hope someone can help.

I have a Gigabyte Laptop, with Windows 7 ultimate, and used to get a message "Press DEL to enter setup" just after my POST screen.
However, this is now gone, and i have been unable to enter my bios. The "windows starting" appears and everything else is as usual, it has been working fine, so i dont know for how long my bios have been gone.
Now, what i really want is ree-booting some USB options, since this is done in BIOS i discovered i no longer have acces during startup. I dont know if my faulty USB and the BIOS-gone-bye-bye is related...

I have edited msconfig, tried safe modes etc., disabled "Hibernate" (due to someone having my problem and seeing the message "resuming windows" instead of "starting windows", however i just dont get a message like that)

I have been adviced to clearing my CMOS but this requires acces to BIOS and BIOS is ... hiding!
a black screen, white letters, a quit look at "Pheonix Trusted core... BIOS version .. system ID... 1 processer detected " ie the ususal stuff. But there is no line with "Press DEL to enter setup" it is gone!

System information tells me that my BIOS is Phoenix Technologies LTD.

Entering DEL a lot during startup (I dont think it is a fast startup, but i do not know) gives me a new black screen, white letters, and Windows Advanced options, such as running a memory scan.
This is new!!!!!!

What specific options would you like to have back, and I'll post back with how to restore them?

I have an older Belkin F6C1500-TW-RK UPS and the mfg has not offered software management for the Win 7 64bit OS. I want to let Win 7 manage the battery and shutdown. I set the High Performance under Power Options to turn off display and put the computer to sleep after 3 minutes as a test. I yanked the input to the UPS and nothing happens and I went at least 5-6 minutes (didn't time). The battery icon in the sys tray stated 2 minutes remaining and never moved.

I have connected the UPS via USB and the Device and Printers, USB Input Device show the drivers are fine and the UPS is working.

Am I misunderstanding what Win 7 will do on its own without mfg monitoring software?

The attached are screen shots how I set the advanced settings

A:How to set Advanced options in Power Options (64 bit Ultimate)

Welcome to 7Forums!

With those options, you can set how much time windows will take an action after you are not taking any action
So if you set 3 minutes for turning off the screen or going to sleep and leave it alone it will scedule these action after 3 minutes.
I don't really understand the part where you explain that the timer stopps. I do not recommend setting the same values for both options under 'on battery' or 'plugged in' state.
I would just increase the 'on battery' / sleep time to 5 or 10 minutes and see if it works.

Question #1 Go to Folder Options > View and Scroll Down the menu to where you see "Remember Each Folders Settings" and make sure the box is checked. ( I have it set up that way, but it still reverts back to the details setting on occasion )

If you want to change the way the picture is displayed on your desktop, right-click the desktop, and then click Properties. On the Desktop tab, in the Position box, select a display option.

When I boot up, I have no more F8 startup options, such as booting to safe mode. Instead what comes up is a simplified boot order menu that allows me to choose what boots up in what order.

I need to log on as an administrator to fix my other (self-inflicted) problem...

In a moment of sheer idiocy I went into the proprties for the RPC Service. I then went into the Log On tab and changed the log-On to the "Log On As", "This Account" option, and browsed to find my profile name. All this because I was trying to be able to change settings elsewhere that needed administrator privileges...I can't log in as the Admin because I can't get to the startup options menu by pressing F8.

Now Windows comes up, but all services dependent of the RPC won't work because the RPS service itself can't work....services like system restore.
I've been hunting through the System32 file hoping I would find something to help.
I tried using the XP CD to restore or repair, but neither worked; the repair option never even came up.
I replaced my NTLDR from the CD because the computer wouldn't boot at one point, and said it couldn't find it.
I've been able to get in and do a file transfer wizard and back up some other files to my other HD, but I really don't want to reinstall XP if I don't have to.

Any suggestions or knowledge on whether I can find that line of code telling the RPC service what its Log On is, so I can repair it manually? Somewhere, it just needs to be told N... Read more

A:Advanced Startup Options Gone, RPC off!

OK, people are reading this but not replying...I wish I knew what that means... anyway,

I figured out which files on the OEM XP cd were the ones for the RPC service, and expanded them directly into the system32 file, overwriting the old ones (rpcns4.dl_ and rpcrt4.dl_ on the XP install CD). I'm quite proud I figured out how to do this.

The good news: it's no worse than before, but the bad news: it's no different than before either.
I can't get into the properties for the RPC service via the Services console. All talk I can find on different sites for restoring default settings involve using the Service Console and have to do with the startup type, not logon.

Sorry I forgot this info in first post:
AMD 3700, Asus A8N-E Mobo, 2 gigs ram, 30 gig 10k rpm HD on ide (with OS), 120 7600 rpm HD on serial, with a FAT sector on the larger drive for backup. Windows XP home with SP3.
I run Avast AV, COMODO internet security suite/firewall, Spyware Blaster, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Autoruns, HijackThis/Kaspersky, and Sisinternals suite.
Full scans came up clean, although I got something weird back in August that I still wonder if I worked out all the kinks...that's when my F8 options disappeared.

Somebody tell me something! Am I on the right track? How can I reinstall/reset all the settings for the services? I need to change that logon, it;s the source of all my current problems...except the missing advanced startup F8 menu for after the POST...

After looking at this thread, I went to the options and noticed that the Number of Processes checkbox was unchecked and the drop down list was grayed out. I have an E6750 CPU, so it's a Duo Core 2, thus has 2 processors.

What effect on my computer/booting would checking this box have and selecting 2 as the number of processes? If left Unchecked, does Windows determine itself what my CPU is, how many processors it has and makes full use of it, or do I have to manually make this setting? Would this increase my bootup time? Would it have any affect on how my computer runs while in use?

Hello Josh,

When this box is unchecked, Windows will use all processors/cores by default.

Hi, just to say your link is broken.

Do you have an old BT Homehub (white) or a new one (black)?

If you can't remember your password on the BT HH 2.0 then you have to reset your router to factory settings or if you never changed the password, take a look at BT Home Hub Help - How To Log On.

A:BOOT Advanced Options

Hello QuackPot,

These settings are mostly just for testing purposes only.

By default, Windows 7 is set to use all available RAM and CPU cores/processors in the Boot - Advanced Options window for maximum performance. If you change and reduce the amount, then this will decrease performance.

Right off the bat, let me say that I am having absolutely NO problems accessing websites, secure or otherwise. I have a very general understanding of what SSL and TLS do. But I was reading recently on another forum and then on Wikipedia about SSL and TLS protocols. Does this mean my browser should not have all three "turned on" in Internet Options,Advanced tab?. I currently DO have all three items checked to "use". And as previously stated, I have no problems with my on-line banking screens or other secure sites on the web. Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this forum, so forgive me if this is not the correct board or I do something incorrectly.

Now then, I have a computer that was on vista that I just upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. When it was on vista and you went to the advance boot options screen (pressing F8 when windows is first loading), hitting "Repair your computer" would boot to a image of the installation disk on the system from the manufacturer.

When I did the upgrade to Windows 7, I erased all my partitions, one of which was Vista's "RECOVERY" partition, which is what housed the bootable disc image. What I am trying to do is recreate that option in the advanced boot options screen.

I have followed the instructions I found here on this site, but now that everything is running, the option to boot into that disc image is showing up as in the attached picture (which I took from the above instructions).

Does anybody know if it is possible to set it back up the way it was in Vista?
I know on Dell computers with Windows 7, it is set up that way, but I am having a hard time making it myself. Does anybody have any ideas?

It is an Dell Inspiron 1525.

A:Edit Advanced Boot Options

You need to make your Recovery Disks before wiping a Recovery Partition, or else order them from Dell if you ever need them. You can also clean reinstall Vista using any Vista retail installer for your version.

I remember the media-less Recovery Partition tutorial when Cereal Killer posted it up because it involved way more work than needs to be done since you can simply store a Win7 backup image in a Primary partition and reimage it from the Repair My Computer choice on Advanced Boot Tools menu accessed by tapping F8 at bootup.

If you don't have the 100mb System Reserved partition which places the Repair Console at F8, then you can boot the Repair CD or Win7 DVD this to me is a lot easier than having a Dual Boot menu every time you start up (which cannot be hidden as you may need it at any time) when you don't even have a Dual Boot.

To answer your question: You can replace the Vista Recovery partition by running the Recovery Disks, I believe, however it is not really needed now that it's gone since you can order the disks or use a Vista DVD if ever needed.

For recovery using Win7 system image, the best approach is always to store it externally (in case of HD failure) and when needed boot from the Repair CD, DVD Repair console, or F8 Advanced Boot Tools menu if you have 100mb SysReserved partition.

That said, I have a copy of my System image stored in a Primary partition on all 6 of my home computers. I have used it while traveling to reimage a laptop booting vi... Read more

LDPC is called low density parity check code and is a correction error which I would turn off for a faster connection. VHT & HT are called Very High Througput and High Throughput which refers to PHY rates of 6.5 Mbps to 433 Mbps per stream. TX is called Transmit stream and RX is called Receiving stream.

Stbc is called Space Time Block Coding which is part of 802.11n and 802.11ac MIMO. I would leave the settings disabled for the "StbcCap"

To be honest, I would never touch the settings with WiFi except for "Wireless Mode".

I then selected ?Troubleshoot? to get to ?Advanced Options? where there should have been options such as ?System Restore?, ?System Image Recovery?, ?Startup Repair? and ?Command Prompt? but all there is is ?Startup Settings?.

Can someone please help me to restore these missing options.

Internet options > advanced tab > reset button.

What are the things does pressing this reset button do, do you loose your favorites is the main thing.
I am not to bothered about loosing favorites in the favorites bar, and buttons that i have added.

But generally what things does pressing the "reset" button do or "reset"

IE 8.0.6001.18828

I've not got a problem as such, but IE will play up "now and then" so i will just switch to firefox,

But just wondered if there is something i can do or maybe try, as i do have to use IE as the main browser when i am doing some course work

A:Internet options,advanced tab, reset

I don't think you lose your favorites but don't cite me on that. At work if we cant get a customer to connect we have to reset their IE settings. All it does it starts up without add-ons, less security, resets any proxy's you set. mainy user set configurations. Hope this helps.

Should I adjust for best performance of:
Programs or background services?

Should I adjust for best performance of:
Programs or system cache?

If I have 1g of ram how much ram what should I set the total paging file size for all drives? (I have 600MB set now, is that too much)

What is the total paging file for all drives and what is system cache?
BTW I am interested in gaming so I set for best performance of programs, but I think that may be causing me to crash while in some games... although its prob unlikely.

A:Question about Advanced Performance Options

I adjust for best performance of programs on both
the paging file should be set to 1 1/2 times the amount of ram, so paging file for 1g should be set to 1536mb
more info on your system would help us to help you

Hi everyone , I am a new member of this forum and this is my 1st post so please bear with me on this one

i bought new desktop computer with windows 7 professional sp1 64bit
HP elite 8200 sff - i5- 2400 ghz
4 gb ram
500 hdd
intel hd graphic

everything works oky except ( f8 advanced boot options ) Sometimes does not respond to orders and sometimes oky , i mean when i press f8 to invoke the advanced Boot Options menu ... i couldnot Use the up and down arrows to navigate menu choices , because its freezes
i have old computer pentium 4 with win7 ultimte 32bit and never had this problem before
so its not a keyboord issue because i tried the keyboard with my old computer and f8 works perfect with no freezes
i changed the hard drive and put new one and installed windows 7 ultimate 32bit
but still have the same problem
I tried everything ,, deleting , formatting partition , and still have the same problem
but i did not touch the recovery partition

sorry for my poor english and i hope you can understand me

A:f8 advanced boot options freezes

See if you can still make your Recovery disks. Next I would wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command
to clear the boot sector of code which might be interfering. Then follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .

You can try this on the spare HD first to see if it resolves the issue there, too. How is Ultimate activated? Using a crack can cause this problem. You should use the licensed version which came with the PC.

Hello ..
I turned on the computer today and I got the the Windows Advanced Options Menu i selected - start windows normally and it proceeds to load and you see a flash of blue and kicks right back to the the the Windows Advanced Options Menu again. I have tried selecting all the options available none are working... I can't get past this screen I do have a recovery disk for this laptop however this was my back up one and I'm afraid if i use it I'll lose what i have on there.. Please help me I need it Thanks!!! using windows xp mulitmedia sp 2 or 3 can't remember sorry ..

A:Windows Advanced Options Menu

Welcome to TSG---

Try choosing Disable Automatic Restart from that Windows Options menu. That flash of blue should then become a blue screen stop error which hopefully gives more information about the specific error.

Post the blue screen error---word for word please.

Also---any new hardware or software installed recently? Unplug any external devices and try the boot again.

Mine is an HP Pavillion 077TX notebook PC running on Windows 8.1 x64. The BIOS version installed on my MoBo is Insyde H20 F.43 dated 03-08-2016, as displayed in "msinfo32.exe". It only shows very limited options to control the hardware on my laptop. I read in an online forum that Advanced and Power options are kept hidden in the HP BIOS files for unknown reasons. My laptop is out of warranty now and i wish to unlock the hidden Advanced menu in the Insyde BIOS so as to gain the Administrative control over my own laptop. I also read on a dedicated non-official forum for HP products that suffer major issues in HP manufactured laptops (I was unaware of these issues before purchasing my machine), that pressing the "A" key after "F10" key in the laptop keyboard, activates "Advanced" options in the Insyde H20 BIOS for some HP laptops.Unfortunately that didn't work for me. Many of my games refuse to start and graphic softwares fail to render, blaming the insuffiecient on board Intel graphics. There is no way i could make them see the discreet nVidia graphics card installed on my PC. In the nVidia control panel i've tried to attach nVidia card to graphic intensive games/applications which are unable to run on my laptop but are running fine on older laptops with option to disable onboard graphics in the bios. There are many parameters available in such old generation laptops to try and fix incompatibility issues for various hardware and i feel highly dissappointed in my ... Read more

I am having a problem downloading an Add-on from Ancesrtry.co.uk. Ancestry tell me that I should be using IE8 so I have reverted having upgraded to IE9. I have to install Java but that is allready installed (I have re-installed anyway). However if I go to Internet Options/Advanced Java(Sun) does not appear just before Multimedia so I can not check the box next to Use JRE (Current version number). I think this is the problem so why does this not appear in Internet Options/Advanced?

Any help please.

A:Java(Sun) does not appear in Internet Options/Advanced

Add-ons for IE are listed under Tools/Manage Add-ons (or possibly via the Windows Control Panel). I have a PC with Java but it doesn't appear in Internet Options.

Hello forum. I am having some problems with my PC. First off, I'm having a problem with the new ATI catalyst drivers and games. I get a lot of artifacts in the games such as MW3 and I've tried everything from uninstalling to searching the registry for entries about ATI and AMD.

Thats not why I'm here though. I want to try a factory restore. I've backed up all my important information so I'm ready. The problem is when I press F8 at boot, I get no options.

My PC - a Dell Inspiron One 2305 did not come with any disc.

If it helps I had to do a factory restore before when I had a bad virus. I had to use a program called EasyBCD

A:Advanced Boot Options not showing up

Isn't there any partition on your HDD holding a factory recovery?
If not, see the following thread to sort your problem:
