Windows can't find network drivers for installation

Q: Windows can't find network drivers for installation

Evening all,

I have just placed a 2nd hand mobo (ASRock M3A770DE) into my pc. It'ts running win 7 ultimate, all h/w is detected ok apart from the integrated network card, therefore i cannot connect to the router and onto the internet. Since win7 is not auto-detecting the integrated NIC, is their a file on the win7 disk i can point it to when i manually try to install it?

On a separate note i can connect to the net via my vaio, in case you can suggest where i can d/l a file from.

All suggestions appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

well when i boot from my windows 7 retail upgrade disk to do a clean install, it say's it cant find the drivers or something and notes that i can take the disk out to put one in for it if i have one, or browse my hard drive but what the hell is it going on about? do i need to install windows 7 drivers on my vista system before i do a clean install of windows 7? i tried both the 64 and 32 bit disks, same error.. it happens on step 5 of Clean Install Windows 7 it doesn't show a license agreement, just the driver problem but when i use the windows 7 upgrade adviser it say's my computer can handle it as i originally thought.. what the hell is the problem? i really do appreciate your input, thanks in advance.
EDIT: well i tried it on another vista computer, it works fine! what the hell?

A:Can't find drivers during Windows 7 ultimate x64 installation?

Hi Andrew,

Are you talking about drivers or drives?

Windows will detect 99.9% of the appropriate drivers required for your computer to operate during installation, and install them automatically. After installation, you can install/update specific device drivers if you wish.

Hello,
In Device Manager right click the Network Adapter. It should have an exclamation mark next to it. Select Properties. Under the Details tab select Hardware ID's in the drop-down box. Paste the results in your next post.

Hello, I need help with an issue which is nearly identical to another thread here on this forum (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic411535.html/page__hl__ethernet+controller).
After re-installing Windows XP SP3 Professional I couldn't connect to the internet.
I looked in the Device Manager and found the following drivers had yellow ? marks:

Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_1458A002&REV_1002\4&3852CD30&0&0201

Ethernet Controller:PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_03\4&322CBC01&0&00E0

SM Bus Controller:PCI\VEN_27DA&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_02\3&13COBOC5&08FB

Video Controller (VGA Compatible):PCI\VEN_80868&DEV_A001&SUBSYS_D00014588REV_0213&13COBOC5&0&10

I followed the advice given on the aforementioned thread and have installed/run Everest & Speccy.
The computer doesn't belong to me, it's a desktop system with a small tower (no optical disk drive) and I cannot see any brand, manufacturer name or model number whatsoever.

If someone could let me know which details are required from Everest and/or Speccy?
Any help is very much welcome!

Been dealing with a dozen different issues to get my new PC working. I'm finally just giving in to repairing Windows XP. However, my Windows XP installation that I want to repair and use is on a SATA RAID. Just 2 HDDs. Despite my motherboard recognizing the healthy RAID, the Windows XP install doesn't.

Of course, I figure it's because it needs the whole F6 + floppy disk thing with SATA and RAID drivers. Well wonderful, because I can't make the floppy because the only PC I can make the floppy with... is the one I'm trying to put Windows XP on. To make matters worse, XFX decided to make it impossible to simply access the SATA and RAID drivers, they need to be directly written to a floppy.

Solution? Virtual floppy disk drive. Ran the "Create RAID Drivers Disk" option on the XFX Driver CD. Transferred the drivers out of the virtual floppy disk. Used nLite to integrate the drivers into a new Windows XP install disc, based off of the one that came with my HP Laptop through my college. Viola, no longer need the F6 + Floppy Disk step.

Except I still get "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.". What the bloody hell? Was that not the entire point of the driver integration?

Motherboard is XFX GeForce 8200. Two 150GB SATA drives in RAID 0 connected. OS is Windows XP SP 2. Motherboard recognizes the RAID but Windows XP SP 2 installer doesn't despite slipstream integration of drivers with nLite.

A:Slipstreamed SATA/RAID Drivers on Installation - Setup fails to find HDDs

Well, more wonderful news. Used a public PC to make the RAID disk, since the slipstreamed CD is being a POS. Tried the original CD *and* the slipstreamed CD: Press F6, press S, press enter. Says "Please wait..." then it returns to the previous screen... so I press enter again. Same thing. Thought maybe the diskette was FUBAR. So I used a blank one and it responded with not finding a "txtsetupOEM" or some such, which is good, because that's true. Except that means it's clearly finding it on the RAID diskette but it chooses to be a ***** and not do anything more than that.

So this is bloody pissing me off because I haven't had a single thing succeed here. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them, because I'm 100% out of ideas.

I've installed XP on a brand new hard drive in my IBM T41. After installation it doesn't seem to have any drivers installed for the ethernet, wireless, audio & video controllers, PCI Modem. They all have the yellow symbol over them in the device manager.

There's no problem with the laptop because I've used it with the hard drive from another T41 and everything works perfectly, conversely I've used this new hard drive in another T41 and it still doesn't recognise the drivers.

I've downloaded and installed the correct ethernet driver from the Lenovo website but this still makes no difference. Can anyone help as I'm absolutely stumped.

Cheers Mark.

Hello, my old laptop went down, so I bought a new one, which is Acer Aspire ES1421. I got it without OS as I have my old Windows 7 from previous laptop, however once I installed them, I can't get my Internet to work. Neither wired, nor wireless. The official website provides only the drivers for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I tried them, but they don't work on Windows 7. Is there any place for me to get the ones, which do work on Windows 7? I really don't want to get Windows 8.1 and especially Windows 10, because I really don't like them, and I'd really prefer Windows 7 over them. Even if I'd have to buy another license of Windows 7 for that specific laptop (if for whatever reason I can't share same Windows from my old laptop).

Yesterday I had the Windows defender virus on my Desktop computer. I read things online and most places were saying to use rKill, ComboFix, and Malwarebytes. So I followed everything and then the virus was removed (I believe). Less than an hour later a friend of mine went to a website (which I believe got me a virus).

Ever since then when my computer boots up the task bar at the bottom of the screen is grey and plain (looks like a task bar from Windows XP maybe), it says that my "Audio service is not running", and I do not even have the bars that show my Wifi signal (I'm assuming that I am missing the driver now?).

I do not know if ComboFix is what did this or if I have another virus but I have become so frustrated with this that I figured I would ask for help.

I'm running a Gateway DX4860, Windows 7, and a wireless internet card.
If ANY other information is needed then I will be more than happy to give it.

I tried installing Fedora 13 64 bit OS with dual booting enabled on my Windows 7 Ultimate OS. The partitions were 257 GB dedicated entirely for Windows (C: Drive) and the remaining 50 GB was allocated for Fedora installation.

I made grub as the default bootloader handler and completed the installation. But after this I started experiencing problems. I was unable to loginto Windows, as my system started showing the blue screen whenever I tried logging into Windows..After that, I made a whole mess by doing some unwanted steps which I never had any idea of..

Now I cant view my HDD to install Windows, No drives are being displayed soon after I select the "Custom option" to install Windows.. And When I click on "Load Driver" its just showing me an X: Drive which has around 100MB capacity and has four folders. I tried System Restore and some of the other options that were present in the Windows repair option but was unsuccessful..

I am confused as to what could have happened to my HDD and I would greatly appreciate your help in recovering my HDD. ( Is there any third party utility to wipe clean my HDD??? Reformat it completely and convert the partitions into NTFS, so that I could install a copy of windows) .

My laptop model Dell N5010...RAM 4 GB..HDD 320 GB...

Thanking you....

A:Cant find HDD for Windows 7 installation...

[email protected] will completely wipe drive, it will also make data unrecoverable but it has worked for me every time. It basically gives you an empty drive.
I use the US DOD 3 Pass method and it takes between 5 to 8 hours to complete depending on the size of the drive but you can choose more or less passes.
Just install it on another machine, restart with the dead drive connected, select the dead drive and kill it.

It's a great program, good luck.

I have seen a thread on this topic, old (312 days) and didn't report a clear solution. I intalled quite some time ago a Windows7 RC1 64 bit, which worked fine and honestly was not bad at all. Unfortunately I didn't use it for a while and now I discovered it expired, so I need a new clean istallation to do my job: find compatibility issues with WIndows 7 professional edition. I received a new DVD with activation key (i guess it must have been downloaded from MSDN) for the purpose. I'm running windows XP 32 bit right now, but can't install windows 7 because after booting from the DVD it says it can not find a suitable driver. What is this about? I can see all my 4 HDs and the 3 DVDs (one is a Blue Ray driver less than 9 months old ) 2 are sata drivers (a Plaxtor burner and the LG BDD); the 3rd one is an old Toshiba IDE DVD rom (still the faster of the 3). In the installation windows I can browse all drivers and directories, I have unzipped the X58 matheboard drivers in a directory. The installation program can load the drivers (even very very slow).... I tried to load several drivers, but I can't figure out which driver is needed; a DVD rom driver is not available, the MB drivers are not helping either, I'm stuck. I do not want to report " forget about WIndows7" again...we need to move to a 64 bit OS. Can someone help me figure out where the problem is located and find a solution?
Thanks

Hi!
I'll get right to it. I have a vizio all in one desktop (CA24-A2 to be exact). I purchased it with windows 7 installed on it, and i upgraded it to windows 8. I decided to return back to windows 7 because the Metro UI always crashed on me. I purchased a windows 7 disc and booted the computer off the disc. When the installation asks which drive to install it to, nothing appears. For some reason, the installation disc is not reading the drives. I've checked vizio's page, but didn't find any drivers for the hard drive. I check the Bios menu and both drives appear. I've read on other forum about changing the bios mode (AHCI,IDE), but my bios menu is very restricted, and i dont have that option available. I used MiniTool Partition wizard on a bootable cd, and it was able to see my hard drives. I added some pictures below, hopefully it helps.

On top of not reading the drives, windows 8 won't boot up now and i keep getting "bootmgr is missing" error. I would appreciate any help, I've been stuck on this for the last few days.

My complete C partition (no personal data) is 30 gigs.

It was about 18 or 20 with before I began to install applications.

My Windows directory is 16 gigs.

Not sure what the problem is unless you have a 30 gig SSD. Most of Windows does go in that Windows directory, but there are always a few other folders following an install.

You could run WinDirStat to see what is taking up the space if you are curious.

Hello all.

I am currently attempting to install Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop; however, as the title states, Windows XP is having issues in finding my SATA HDD.

To my understanding, this is due to Windows XP not quite being "ready" for SATA HDDs, and so the proper controller(s)(?) wasn't implemented in the Windows XP disc.

I looked on Dell's website for such a driver, but was not able to find anything (though my search methods may have been lacking - I am not the most superb at file searching on the internet).

Is there any possible way to make it so that Windows XP SP2 can be installed on a machine that has a SATA HDD?

*NOTE: This is a clean install.
Thank you to all that offer suggestions or solutions.

A:Windows XP Cannot Find SATA HDD During Installation

Sometimes it's a matter of a BIOS setting, so take a look there. You can always restore to defaults, so trying settings will not be fatal.

Can you link to where you looked at Dell? If available, it is usually an image for a floppy. Do you have a floppy drive?

Hi,
I'm at my wits end here, I've formatted one of our computers, a process I've done tons of times on various PC's but this one is giving me hell.
Everytime I install from the bootable CD, it just refuses to accept that I have a harddrive. The harddrive is Seagate 60Gb IDE, not SCSI, SATA or requires RAID drivers.
I've tried reformatting with FAT32, NTSC, or leaving it unformatted, and the damn disk refuses to believe I have a harddrive. I've tried switching from Primary Master to Cable Select.
I can access and use the disc just fine in DOS mode, partitionmagic does everything asked of it to the harddrive. Its only the windows cd that doesn't see the drive.
I've tried other harddrives as well(had a spare working tiny 3.2Gb drive lying about) and the same problem with them as well. I've also tried switching the harddrive cable with a different one.

Hi

I'm trying to run SFC /SCANNOW on Windows XP, and it's asked me to insert the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD. I've done this, but it doesn't seem to have found it. I can get to the disc on Explorer, but it can't find it on the scan, even if I put it in prior to starting it.

The CD drive is labelled X:/ (not the Windows default of D:/) - would this make a difference? It would be very difficult to change them around, even temporarily, as D:/ has all my system files on.

Hi there was wondering if anyone could help me.

I bought a new custom PC from ebay, a shop called FreshTech Solutions, so when it arrived I tried installing Windows 7 Home Premium (came with it). Obviously I need to do a custom install, as I'm not upgrading from anything, but when I get to the screen where it asks where I would like to install Windows 7, nothing is listed. I've tried loading from the disc that came with the motherboard, the Windows 7 CD itself, even the C drive (said it needed to format it, but couldn't).

I don't really know much about custom computers so was wondering if anyone could help me?

I have this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140816631147?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_6177wt_1186

The motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77-DS3H.

Thanks in advance

A:Windows 7 Installation Help - cannot find hard drive

Hi and welcome to Bleeping computer.

Please go to the BIOS and see if the hard drive is detected if not please follow the below instructions. In order to go to the BIOS press F2 or del key during startup.

Sometime not often components can get loose during shipping, Make sure the Hard drive is physically in the connector Data and Power.

If you have a anti-static wrist strap please put it on if you don't make sure you are grounded.

1. Open the case
1b. Make sure that your grounded first by touching the chasis or the metal on the power supply
1c. check the connections to the hard drive.

and than try again with the install.

Hi
I prepared a ntfs partition on my second hard drive, big enough for W8. I also hid the other partitions of W7 so that only the new partition would be active. I started the installation CD (W8 enterprise, test version) and the list of all partitions apeared. As I choosed the prepared partition, I was surprised to see a message that: no existing system partition could be found! !! I tryed to format it, to delete it, creat again and what ever all....
I googled around and didnt find any information so i gave up and installed it normaly (without hiding the other OS). But at the end of the test version i will have to repeat this procces und I would be happy to find a solution....
Anybody has an idee???

hi , i recently installed mac os hackintosh on my laptop , i format my hdd to mac os journaled so that mac os can work, but then i wanted to go back to windows , so when i put my windows installation dvd to install it , it says :
we couldnt find any drives ,load your driver and continue , i need help i cant install my windows .

my pc:

hp pavillion dv6 7080se
my hdd brand is toshiba ..

A:windows 8 installation we couldnt find any drive

that is because windows does not understand the mac os journaled file system you need to go into the mac installer and then when it says to continue or pick disc go into disc utility at the top and format your drive as one partition and pick ms fat as the file system to do it as then in the windows installer you can delete and resize as you need. in the pics in options you want guid not master boot record since its windows 8.

Hi, I got a new USB headset (the model is irrelevant) that is plug 'n play. It works PERFECTLY on ANY other computer I plug it into except my main. All PCs are using Windows 7 x64, no drivers (as it works out of the box). All PCs that it functions on finds the driver through Windows Update and installs it. On my main it detects the same device yet finds nothing. I have NO idea how that's possible but I cannot use the headset on my main PC as a result. The subsequent error is error 28 in the Device Manager.

Any help in the matter would be much appreciated!

A:Windows can't find drivers

Go to Start > and type "Change Device" in the search bar.
Click on "Change Device Installation Settings"

I will bet that the setting on your machine is "Never Install Driver Software from Windows Update".

When I installed Windows 7 RC, install did not find the driver for my Lite-on DH-4B1S Blu-ray device. Going through the normal driver search in Device Manager worked and the driver was installed.

Now, with Windows 7 RTM, the same problem occured, but going through the normal driver search in Device Manager does not yield any results.

This shows up in device manager as a Serial ATA Controller, with a Yellow !. I assume any generic SATA driver would work, but I have been unable to find the right one within Windows or on the Web. The Lite-on site lists only a firmware upgrade and after dowloading two utilities to "find drivers" they both identified a missing driver, but neither had any suggestions to fix the problem.

Suggestions.

A:Windows 7 does not find Blu-ray drivers

Hi there
you should use the VISTA drivers that came with your hardware.

If you are using W7 x-64 and there aren't any Vista x-64 drivers you'll just have to wait.

BTW remember playng Blu Ray DVD's on a PC has inherent problems with device authentication / encryption etc.

You might find a version of WinDVD or PowerDVD works -- your hardware should come with a copy of one of these.

Playing Blu Ray movies on a PC at the moment with all the stupid DRM Hollywood adds to the stuff is one of the main reasons the Torrents are still going strong.

If I LEGALLY buy a blu ray DVD then I should be able to play it WHENEVER and WHEREVER I want.

Cheers

Hi: You should be able to use the W7 x64 drivers and software from the 15z-af000 on your model, except the BIOS and firmware files. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-af000-Notebook-PC-series/7771410/model/8341291 In addition to the above drivers, you will need to install the AMD chipset drivers from the link below and restart the PC. This driver will install the smbus and USB3 controllers. You want the 1st file listed on the webpage. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064

Windows 8 will not find my partitioned drive so will not install, anyone know why?

A:Windows 8 will not find any drivers

Hi,

Probably because you need to have the SATA storage driver ready on a floppy, USB, CD or DVD when going to install. When it asks where to install to, click the button to "Load Driver".

Make sure you use the same driver as how you have the bios set to: IDE or AHCI mode.

Make sure where you want to install to is an NTFS partition.

I'm trying to format my HP Envy 15 1104TX but as far as I know there are only 2 USB 3 ports built into the computer itself. The Windows 7 (non-SP1) installer doesn't have necessary drivers to read from these two ports, causing a loop around the "missing CD/DVD drivers" section. I've tried the port swap fix, but it doesn't work since they're both USB3.

My real question is how do I add drivers to my Windows 7 installation ISO? I've seen a few guides but they're either badly worded or too difficult to understand. If someone from here could give the quick rundown, it would be greatly appreciated.

Note: Will I be able to just slipstream the SP1 update and the .inf drivers onto the ISO using RT 7Lite?

A:How do you add drivers to a Windows 7 installation?

Since on some systems, as perhaps yours, the USB 3.0 ports are not operational until windows 7 is installed. There may be a setting in the Bios to set USB 3.0 to enable legacy USB, which might help.

But I was able to install USB 3.0 drivers during a System recovery operation using a flash drive. But if you cannot read a flash drive during the install process, I suppose this will not work. It is a little hard to conceive of a system that has no useable USB ports during an install....

The drivers I used for my Intel USB 3.0 ports were downloaded from the manufacturers site, or possibly on a Driver disk you have. For intel, I needed the setup file and associated files for it and those two .inf files were iusb3hub.inf and iusb3xhc.inf. Yours, will of course, will be dictated by the controller manufacturer.

You can download a Windows 7 SP1 Install DVD .iso file from here and burn as an image.

Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River ? My Digital Life

Let us know how it is going.

Edit: I found this on the HP site
