Making Email Play Nice - Yahoo Email, Mac Mail, Outlook

Q: Making Email Play Nice - Yahoo Email, Mac Mail, Outlook

Hi Geniuses:
I wanted to throw this out to you to see if there was a solution to my "inbox zero woes"

Yahoo Email address (yes I know)
iPhone with Outlook App
Mac Computer with Mail APP
Extra Gmail account with a "send gmail from account"

What I found was that while on the road (most of my email use) the Outlook App for iPhone was fastest at fetching mail, and I LOVE the interface (ability to snooze emails, archive etc).

Problem is, my home mac with MAIL doesn't play nice when I archive Emails on my app.
Secondly, I also like to use gmail as a web client for searching files, using todo etc.

My question: can all of these play nice in the same sandbox? Can I archive on one device, and have it translated amongst the others? If not, what are my solutions (switching over to outlook on Mac? Just using a GMAIL address from now on). Would love some light / insight on this.

Many, Many thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have followed the instructions to change yahoo to my default email. This is from How to Make Yahoo! Mail Your Default Windows Email Program - About Email and How do I make yahoo my default email in windows xp? - Yahoo! Answers I am running Windows XP SP3.

Problem is when I go into internet options through the control panel, then click the programs tab, under email drop down menu its supposed to state yahoo mail as a client. Problem is it does not. I install yahoo software but I still am not able to find it even though it says I should.

I have had this same problem in the past. I did yesterday have my computer reformatted so yahoo was no longer my defualt client. Anyone know the solution and why this is happening and how they can help me fix this please?

A:making yahoo mail your default email client in xp

You have to uninstall all of Yahoo software you may have on your computer now and restart. Then you have to install Yahoo Messenger. You have to install all of Yahoo's other software (toolbar, Default web search, Home page) and during the setup it will ask if you want to make Yahoo your Default Email provider. If you check this then it will appear under Internet Options/Programs/Email. You then can go to Add Remove Programs and uninstall Yahoo Toolbar, Search and change your default home page to whatever, if you don't want Yahoo.

A:Email : Outlook or Yahoo Mail

Do you actually have Outlook (and what version)?

Outlook Express was discontinued back in the Vista days. Windows Live Mail is the current offering from Microsoft and must be downloaded from Microsoft. It has the capability of accessing your ISP's e-mail account along with web based e-mail accounts such as Yahoo, Outlook (formerly Hotmail), Gmail, etc.

I'm trying ot get a home network set up, I have a total of 3 computers, and I'm workign on simply getting two fo them to work together nicely at the moment. I have a Panasonic laptop running windows 2000, and a HP desktop that is running Windows XP home SP1... As much as I would liek to get rid of XP and up grade the desktop I don't have the money right now. I can currently access the laptop from the desktop, and see the desktop from the laptop, but when I try to access the desktop from the laptop I get an error of

\\name is not accessible.
access denied.

I have tried using both the name and the IP to access the desktop, and get the same result. poking around, I saw some stuff on usernames causing a problem, so I re-did the desktop to have the same username and password for the adminsitrator, as well as created an administrator account named everybody with the same password on both computers, as was recomended on some sites.

I'm to the point I don't have any other ideas, the firewall for xp has been turned off, and I also tried creating a new network, with a new workgroup name and different names for each computer, with no better luck.

Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the "use simple file sharing (recommended)" option ticked or unticked in My Computer | Tools | Folder options | View Tab? If it is ticked then I would recommend un-ticking it. Create a new folder under My Documents, right click on it and select the "sharing and security" tab, set the folder to be shared and give it a share name.

Also, have you tried connecting to the Desktop using '\\name\c$' this should prompt you for a username and password, use an administrative account.

Do you have any third party firewall software runnning on the desktop computer?

A:Solved: cant delete email or play games in yahoo?

For the emails, I assume this is Yahoo. Have you emptied your Trash bin? If that is full up, then you may not be able to delete emails. Also, is the Sent folder overflowing?

Also, lets take a look at a log. go to http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
Also, go to Control panel | Internet Options. Security tab. Custom Settings.
Make sure the drop down menu is set to Medium, reset, yes. If its on medium already, reset anyway.

Apply and OK.

I have a situation where someone has 2 email addresses. One of them is now redundant and I have deleted it from the People section. However, when I am set to make a new email to that person and type the first letter of their name, in the pop up window (that you can click on) their old email address still appears.
How do I delete this from that list? Can find no way to do so.

A:Outlook Email - Deleting Wrong Email Entry when starting new email

In new email, start typing the address you want to remove. When you have enough characters for auto complete to show it (sometimes one letter is enough), use DOWN ARROW key on keyboard to select the address in question and press DEL key.

After I finished composing an email in Yahoo mail and hit send, I received an error message. The error was (I believe) "There's a problem viewing this message."

I did not get the usual confirmation screen that the email was sent. However, the message is now saved in my "Sent" folder. Does this mean the email was successfully sent, despite the error message? I looked at the full header (i.e., envelope information) for the email in my sent folder, and it looked normal.

I'm really not concerned about the error, just want to know whether the message was sent.

Have been getting a lot of vulgar emails in the Spam folder of yahoo mail lately.

I know not to open any attachments or links in these emails and I always just delete them without opening.

What I would like to do is open the email and copy and paste the senders email address into the Blocked Emails Address List in the Yahoo mail options.

Is this a safe way to get rid of this trash ?? Any other suggestions ??

A:Blocked Email addresses in Yahoo Mail

it should be safe to open them and do this. it used to be true that all you had to do was open an email to get infected, but i have heard this is not the case anymore. i would be extremely careful though. if possible, use vmware to open them and do this. if you get infected, you can delete the vm. or you can start up in safe mode with networking. without a registry change, you can't install things in safe mode. this may not protect you from all types of malware, so unless you are really bothered by these emails i would just leave them going into the spam folder.

When I delete email in either Yahoo mail or Gmail, is the mail physically deleted so that the Yahoo & Google email servers no longer store the email, and the email can no longer be accessed by any means? Or is the email just deleted from the list of email in my account, but the actual email message is still stored somewhere on Yahoo or Google servers?

Comments anyone?

A:Yahoo mail & Gmail: Is deleted email totally gone?

Deleted mail goes initially to the "Trash" folder in Gmail where it remains for 30 days so that you can restore it in the same way that Windows stores deleted files in the Recycle Bin. You can manually delete these 'deleted mails' by opening that folder and then choosing the option to "Empty Trash Now" after which they'll be gone forever. As regards Yahoo, I'm afraid I don't have a Yahoo mail account so I can't help you there, but I would imagine there's a similar option available.

While I have another post on this issue already, I considered it advisable to make another post due to some significant new information that should come to the attention of viewers. I have learned that my access problems with my Yahoo mail account are somehow browser related because I have installed two more browsers and have different results within each for accessing my Yahoo mail account.

With Google's Chrome browser (with MyYahoo home page installed) I have no issues whatsoever..yet, anyhow.

With IE8 (Yahoo optimized version) I can occasionally get access, but then I tend to get lengthy delays in page turning or ability to insert info on page until fully loaded, and/or outright freezes which cause me to have to utilize the task manager to end the process when I get "not responding" reports.

With Firefox (4) I cannot access my mail at all and get "404 Not Found" error messages when I try using access links (interestingly I have the same error message for the advertisement box/section on MyYahoo home page).

I have personally also run scans for malware with Avast, Malwarebytes, Ad Aware, and Mamutu, but found none. I have also made a log file of a scan by Trend Micro's 'Highjack This", but I see no way to copy and forward the scan results for viewing by others (such as this forum).

And finally, I have sent a request to Yahoo for help on this issue, but have not yet received a response.

I am using a Yahoo mail account which downloads emails to Windows Live Mail on my desktop.

I am being spammed by Online Casino emails, and despite blocking the senders domain in WinLiveMail, it only lasts for a few days and then returns. Also done the same thing with selective blocking in Yahoo Mail account settings for SPAM blocking but same result.

I tried to contact Yahoo Mail tech support to find out if it's possible to turn off my main Yahoo Mail account for a week or two, as it is the one being spammed, but I get no reply. Apart from FAQ does anyone know how to email or live chat Yahoo Mail support?

I can't use the "Unregister" option in the incoming spam mail, or I'll get inundated with commercial emails.

Also tried various options like Mail Washer, etc.

Can anyone think of an option so I don't see these emails, short of closing the account and creating a new one. The thing is, this is my main account I've used in many online registrations.

The weird thing is I've never been on the web site of Online Casino and never use the main email account in emails or online, except for signing in to things like my ISP, Yahoo Mail, etc.

A:Temporarily turn off email account in Yahoo mail

Yahoo email filters are poor; they only support the model:
block email-id is [email protected]and spammers continue to reach you by changing the user portion. Better email client software supports that as well as:
block email-id contains @domainand regardless of the email user, that domain gets blocked

I have been having the most unusual problem with Outlook junk email filter and rule making, and I have a feeling that the two problems are actually one of the same, although I could be wrong.
I've made a few rules which are suppose to move emails that arrive from a certain account to a certain folder. For some reason some of these rules copy the email to the folder instead of moving it. I have double and triple checked the way I wrote the rules but they refuse to work correctly (other rules that I made the same way do work properly). I even deleted all the rules and started over, but for some reason some continue not to work properly. I have the same problem with one or two rules where I use certain words in the subject area to determine where they get moved to, but once again they only get copied there and not totally moved.

My junk mail filter seems to be acting up also. Not always are my blocked email addresses blocked. I can get the same spam from the same address one after the other even though the address is listed in my "blocked email" list.

Can someone please shed some light on the matter?
Thank you

This is a strange problem. I use MS Outlook (full version, not Outlook Express) as my primary email system. I use Yahoo as my "email for life" and obtain it using Outlook via their POP server.

When I send out a graphic HTML email message from Outlook to say:
1. a Yahoogroup with my Yahoo email address as a member, and
2. my Yahoo email address directly

(sent both simultaneously) the HTML will be received by my Yahoo address in the Yahoogroup (#1) but will not be received, but translated into plain text, by the Yahoo address which received the message directly (#2).

This is very odd, and I can't figure out if the problem is with Outlook, Yahoo, or something else.

If I take the time to more arduously create the HTML message directly within Yahoo webmail (on the web), the message (in full HTML) is successfully (and expectantly) received by both locations. But I really need Outlook to do this.

I've sent out HTML email to other people who are in my Yahoogroup who receive it fine there, but when I send the HTML email to them directly, they also have the problem of the message being translated into plain text.

This is very frustrating, and I would appreciate any help in figuring out this problem. I'm using Outlook 2002 SP-2.

My email account in an att.net domain hosted by Yahoo! It was hihacked over a week ago. I can still access the account and send/receive mail, but approximately once every day or so, it uses my account to send our spam to all in my address book. I describe the details in the link below.

It just dawned on me that the hijack may actually not be in my local computer but instead, someone may have gained access to my account directly through the Yahoo! servers. I had about 200 contacts listed in their online address book.

I have run over 6 separate antivirus scans on my local PC and find no problems.

So, how does one deterime if a hijack is being done locally vs. in the cloud?

My company uses yahoo to host our domain and use them for our e-mail, where we all use POP clients (outlook or Eudora) to manage our e-mail. Last week we noticed that people outside our domain were not receiving mail that we'd sent using our clients, while people inside our domain (e-mails to each other) were getting through. To compound the problem Outlook is showing all e-mails as sent. The funny thing is if we use the web client (mailsender.net) the e-mails go through. Has anyone had this problem? I've looked all over domains.yahoo.com for their contact info - but I can't find an e-mail or phone number. Does anyone have contact infor they can share?

Funny thing, but when you choose a default account outlook is supposed to use that one as the default send account. So you compose a new mail and it should use that account as the from address. But it doesn't always work. Yes, i know u can CHOOSE any account by clicking on the "from" button and picking one from the drop down menu. But i don't want to have to keep doing that. I finally got it to work with a reg hack i found when googling the issue. Now when i compose new mail it uses account #1.

However, if someone sends me a email to my account #2, when i reply it uses account #2 to send from. Is there any way i can make outlook use account #1 for all email i send whether they are new emails or replies no matter what account hey were sent to?

Window Live Mail won't play the wav file of my choice for email notification. I am talking about wav files that I have copied to the Windows/Media folder to use for my email notifications.

I have WLM set to play sounds and in fact it plays all of the wav files that came with the system. But when I copy my own .wav files to the same folder that holds the other wav files that are used for windows sounds and then try to use that file for email notification it won't play. The wav file does play in Windows Media Player if I click on just the file, but not in WLM as my email notification. I have set the option in the Control Panel under windows sounds for email notification. I have tried this with two different wav files and neither one will play as my email notification but play fine by themselves.

Does anyone know why my wav files will not play as my email notification in WLM? Once again I have set WLM to play sounds and the Control Panel/Change System Sounds options for email notification to my wav file and the native wav files do play.

A:Windows Live Mail won't play my .wav file for email notication

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for describing you problem so completely and for filling out your system specs as well. It made me want to test it for myself. I my case it worked properly but I'm using the previous version of WLM (2009/2010). I did notice that the mail program only uses the notification sound when dowloaded into a pop3 account but not for IMAP accounts (unlike Vista's Windows Mail which did it for both).

Can't hurt to do a repair install. Go to Programs and Features, "Windows Live Essentials", and choose a repair. It will repair whatever components of Essentials you downloaded, including Mail.

I recently purchased a new computer. Windows 10 and IE 11 came with it. When I use Yahoo Mail, it says I have an old version of the internet browser and forces me to use the old version of mail. It wants me to upgrade but sends me to Firefox. Yahoo is
identified in the compatibility list. Any suggestions?

I'm not able to sync my Outlook. I get a box requesting me to Enter Network Password. The server info in already prepopulated and I can not change it--pop.mail.yahoo.com. I enter in my user name and password and click the OK button. The box goes away for a couple seconds and the box reappears asking me for my password again but doesn't give me an error message.

Any thoughts?

A:Syncing Yahoo! Email with Outlook Windows 7

Might be nice to see what screens your entering this information on ?

Although entering "pop" into any screen doesn't sound correct to me in any version of office outlook,
If you have a Yahoo plus account the entry might be as simply as In-coming server mail.yahoo.com and Out-going server mail.yahoo.com ?
pop3 would be a account Type not some thing you enter in front of your email address.
Just to confuse you lol,

I was looking up an email I sent over a year ago in my Yahoo Premium account. It was there but it was incomplete. It looked like it cut off after the first page. I notice I had a different signature back then too.

Is there any way I can get the whole email back?

Dear All,

I prepared a flyer on Word, then I copied it directly on my email template on microsoft outlook. Recipients on yahoo emails only a see a blank page, whilst .com addresses are able to view the flyer.

How can I enable this flyer pasted directly on the email template (people hate attachments) so that yahoo and other types of email platforms can view it successfully?

I have composed a Word letter I wish to attach to a Yahoo email.

When attempting to attach it to the email to the intended recipient,
it tells me there is a problem and can't attach it.

When I compose a similar test email to another recipient I am able
to attach the exact same Word document with no problem.

Any ideas?

I use about 5 different internet based email accounts to manage my affairs( Yahoo email mostly, but also Hotmail and Gmail, etc,....NO Onboard email used at all) . Some are for friends email, some for family, others for various business interests, online purchase, etc. If I get certain emails, I NEED to know about it ASAP as I'm working/browsing on my computer.

I have used a program called "eprompter" before but found it unreliable. Sometimes it would not notify me at all that a new email had just arrived that I'd been waiting for. That is very aggrevating when they are important and need to be opened and replied to promptly. That NOT being notified at all when new a email arrives in my Inbox Can Not Happen. Most of them are TOO Important for it to just not tell me about!

And also, if I independantly just go to my Yahoo Inbox, I notice it just marks emails I have not read....as already read. That's Spooky! I Just DON'T Trust ePrompter!!!

There Must be a good one that doesn't try to fake out whether you've seen emails or not !
Does anyone know of a free, but really good and dependable Email Notifier program to monitor all my internet based accounts at once, please?
