Yoga 260 trackpoint left click occasionally not registering

Q: Yoga 260 trackpoint left click occasionally not registering

I find my mouse click often not registering and I need to click multiple times for the action to execute. This isn't a matter of lag because I tried waiting a while and the action never executes unless if I click it multiple times. This is really frustrating. My old T420s never had this issue. It might be worth mentioning that I also have a problem with the trackpoint scrolling which if I scroll in the vertical direction, it first registers as a horizontal scroll icon and doesn't change to vertical unless if I press down hard and the page ends up jumping from the pressure. I can't gradually scroll. Several other people mentioned this issue in a separate thread but no fix was ever proposed. I'm wondering if the two are related in that they could be some I/O communication issue between the trackpoint and some controller.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It happens several times a day, plug in another mouse will get this fixed. So,I assume the mouse is broken. Here is the question,is there a way to know exactly which part is broken? Then I can just buy a new part and replace it.

A:left click turns into right click, occasionally.

A mouse costs pennies. Why bother. And I doubt you will find parts for the mouse.

This problem has been plaguing me for a while but it's finally irritated me enough to try and find a solution. When I click the left mouse button, sometimes the first click or two doesn't 'register'. I have to keep clicking until Windows registers the click. This happens in a number of programs - notably Excel and RStudio. The laptop is fast enough that I should be seeing any lag whatsoever!  In a few other forums I've seen comments about an issue relating to Power Saving mode, although I've not been able to fix this. Curious to know if anybody else has come across this issue? Pertinent details:-Levovo T460p (i7, 32GB RAM, SSD drive, 2GB Nvidia)-Touchpad disabled

I have a user that has a 2nd Generation X1 Carbon (the type with virtual buttons on the Synaptics TrackPoint/TrackPad.   The user is complaining that a context sensitivie menu (of the type that a right click would initiate) intermittently is shown when she left clicks.  She normaly uses the TrackPad but does use the TrackPoint on ocassion.  Here's what I've done so far: 1) I initially thought it was the TrackPad and had Lenovo Support replace it.  The problem was reduced but is still occurs. 2) I've installed current UltraNav drivers and updated all other drivers to current levels.  The WIndows 10 is also updated to current patches.  I would try setting the UltraNave to "Click Anywhere" but that disables the TrackPoint feature that is ocassionally used.  Has anyone seen this happen before and know a fix for this?

my left click doesn't work. even when i touch my touch pad twice to double click it won't either
and then i went to control panel and switched the left function with the right function.
the left clicked worked and did the functions of the right click but the right click didn't do anything

This always happen after like an hour of use and the it will work again after half an hour and then stop working after half an hour.
But then after i restart it it works again!

Thats a simple solution but i hate continually doing this.

This always happens. About 1 hour into using my ACER Aspire E1-522 laptop the left click and the double tap of the touch pad stops working. ARG!

A:Left click and double tap doesn't respond occasionally

The Acer Aspire E1-522 laptop/notebook appears to have a Synaptics or Elantech touchpad.

You didn't say which touchpad driver version is installed nor which Windows version is installed in that laptop.

Reinstalling or updating the touchpad driver may resolve the issue.

If there's an unknown hardware issue with the touchpad, connecting and using an external wireless mouse would be the quickest resolution.

Even while typing the subject line of this thread, I had to retype it a couple of times as the left button triggered unknown clicks on the web page loading another while my left thumb unintentionally and inevitably rested on it. Happening quite frequently with random cliks being registered. Adjusting sensitivity of the trackpoint or touchpad does not have any effect. I don't see any other settings. Did anyone ever face this? Is there perhaps a firmware/software approach to fix such things? I jut bought this Yoga in November, did not start to really use it since a few days ago and is why I just noticed this way after the return period, and I don't want to go to the hassle of warranty claim if there's a software workaround.

Hello,Several days ago my laptop (As per title) crashed (I had dozens of Chrome tabs open + MS Word). After restarting, I lost right click completely. Left click will be unresponsive upon start up but eventually after some time (2-3 minutes) comes back to life. However it often then ceases to work soon after for no reason. So left click only works intermittently. I am almost certain it cannot be a physical hardware issue as the touch pad + click function worked perfectly before, then after a system crash it became completely unresponsive. I am stuck navigating using the touchscreen, tab/enter/arrow keys and the keyboard shortcut for right click. An external USB mouse works perfectly fine and I can left+right click normally, but this is not a long-term solution. This is very annoying. My laptop is out of warranty, as I purchased it new and have been using it since late 2016/early 2017. So far every attempt to resolve this has not worked, but so far I have tried:1- Updating my Elan Device Drivers through Device Manager2- Attempting to 'Defrag' Windows through it's inbuilt tools3- Full Reinstall of Windows (Wiping all files completely)4- Uninistalling/removing Elan Mouse Device completely through Device Manager, restarting, then allowing it to automatically reinstall.5- Shutting down the system, holding the power button for 30 seconds (I read this can help clear out bugs, someone had some luck with it rectifying their track pad right click issues but didn't h... Hello, Everyone So I purchased a new T560 and the pgup key would stick and it felt like plastic was grinding underneath when you would press it down.  Also my spacebar was super loud so I exchanged it.  On my second unit, the keys have a more uniform feel when pressed.  Now the only issue with this unit is the Left Arrow doesn't register all strokes.  I have to push it harder for it to register and even then it doesn't make much of a difference.  I'm kind of scared to get a replacement keyboard because who knows what issues the next keyboard might have.  I think I will stay with this one but I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem where keys don't register all the presses.  Would cleaning under the key cap help resolve this problem?  Any suggestions would be  appreciated.  Thanks

Clicking the buttons at the bottom work and the right TrackPoint button at the top of the tochpad works, as does the centre scroll button, but the left one doesn't. The left button doesn't seem to click - can this be fixed easily? Have tried playing around with drivers, blowing compressed air into the trackpad, updating BIOS, enabling/disabling TrackPoint in the BIOS but all to no avail. Any ideas? I have upgraded my old T410i with some extra RAM and an SSD. The system works great and fast. There is one problem. I have noticed that although my trackpoint and right and middle button (above trackpad) work like the should the left button (above trackpad) doesn't. I thought this has to work like the left mouse button or the left button under the trackpad but it doesn't. I have the latest bios version 1.45 installed and the latest drivers. I have also tried to detach the keyboard and attached it again. After that I tried to disable the trackpoint in the bios and enable it again. This doesn't help either. Maybe it is a defective key because all the other functions and keys do work. Is there something overlook?

If I don't move the cursor the click never takes effect. Re-clicking the mouse button tends to also work.   I've searched the board and noticed that earlier versions of the driver caused multiple click events to fire from a single physical click.  Perhaps the driver update went to far in that direction. Anyone else experience this?   I installed a ssd drive onto which I installed a lenovo win10 64 image for my model and let the lenovo companion app update everything: apps, drivers and bios. Not sure how else I can title this post!

I have a new Dell Inspiron 15r as of this Christmas, running Windows 8. I ran the upgrade to 8.1 but I still have a problem with my cursor wanting to "hover click" on links or browser tabs, as well as being stuck in the down position, when I'm not even pressing on the touchpad left button. I end up selecting an entire region of stuff while moving the cursor across the screen.

I can't figure out what to change or configure in Control Panel, or is it in the Dell Touchpad configuration utility?

In Control Panel/Ease of Access Center/Make Your Mouse Easier To Use I have unchecked "Activate a Window by hovering over it with a mouse." Still happens.

It's driving me mad - never had this problem with Win 7 or any desktop machine.

Anyone? Thank you.

A:Dell Inspriron Hover-Click and Left-Click Gets Stuck

If you go into Mouse in Control Panel, then click Device Settings Tab.. on the right there's a Settings Button. I turned off the ones that say swipe. I also disabled rapid app switching. To do that press Winkey-q click Settings on the top right. Type "swipe" in the box. You should see a box on the left about rapid app switching. Click it and you can then disable it.

This is my first laptop also. The mouse gestures drove me crazy. About all I kept was tap click. Also I bought a $5 optical USB mouse and a $.97 mouse pad. I keep these in my Laptop case. When I have time and room to set up the mouse pad I feel much better about using the machine.

This is a problem with the built in mouse pad. I left click something like the desktop and the options menu comes up as though it was a right click. It's not a software setting, as I've checked them all, and I've reinstalled XP.

The only (temporary) fix I can apply is to plug in a usb mouse. Then the touchpad mouse will act appropriately. But it reverts back to this issue upon reboot.

Hello all, from a few days until now I have started experiencing what seems to be a recurrent problem in the P50 laptop touchpad drivers. When using the driver 19.3.4.16 for synaptics pointing device, the left button of the touchpad double clicks most of the times (about 70-80% of the time). If I decide to update my drivers to the latest version, 19.3.4.202, then something even worse happens: the left and right buttons are inverted (and I have checked that the box of inverting the buttons in control panel is unclicked). From what I have been reading this has been an issue that has happened before already, but I don't know if Lenovo fixed it, or it has just been unsolved until now. Maybe someone around here can help me with this?

My computer, which is a Toshiba C655, thinks I am holding the primary mouse button down, when I've just simply clicked. I don't have Click Lock on, I've tried using my bamboo tablet, and the problem persists. I've also tried a reboot, but that didn't work either. If anyone can give me a solution, please respond.

Edit: When i tap on the trackpad itself, he problem doesn't occur. when i press the left button below the trackpad, though, it happens. is this a hardware problem?

A:Mouse/Trackpad registering one click as hold/drag

Hello walllable. Welcome to the forum.

Yes it could be. That is a common symptom of a defective touchpad.

Two things can help determine this:
If you can attach a mouse or external touchpad and they work normally.
If you uninstall (remove) the touchpad from Device Manager and then restart and let it reinstall and then reinstall it's driver and the problem persists.

I have an X270 which has had the system board replaced twice to try fix this issue. When trying to enable the trackpoint and button clicks in the windows setting and lenovo vantage settings, it is greyed out and can't be changed. See images below.
