I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I am Istiak from Bangaldesh. I am using HP ENVY 15-j139tx. My sister brought new HP ENVY x360 15-aq160sa from UK for me. In new HP ENVY x360 15-aq160sa there is no extra graphics card but in my HP ENVY 15-j139tx there is extra graphics card of NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M. Now can I remove graphics card from HP ENVY 15-j139tx and add that to HP ENVY x360 15-aq160sa? Is it possible? Or ENVY x360 15-aq160sa supports extra graphics card that I can add? If yes please let me know that model of graphics card that I can add.

Hello,I have the Envy AIO 24" which I upgraded (when ordered) with a AMD R9 graphics card. Device Manager shows both the AMD card and the onboard Intel HD Graphics card, both working. However, when I play any 3D games, the frame rates are awful, and Steam reports that there is no driver installed for the AMD card, so it must be using the integrated Intel HD graphics which explains the slow performance. I have installed drivers both from AMD and from HP but still get the same result. Catalyst control center says there is no display attached.  Passmark Performance Test recognizes 2 cards but the 3D benchmark runs on the Intel HD card, giving pathetic scores as expected. Has anyone experienced this issue?  Is the AMD card supposed to kick in automatically when needed for 3D graphics support? Or does this sound like a hardware issue?  Any help is very much appreciated.

The display coming from my HP ENVY Desktop 750-114 is terrible. Colors are flat and washed out looking. I'm using an HP V242h monitor. I hooked the monitor up to a different computer and it does fine, colors look bright and not washed out, so my conclusion is it must be the graphics card in the HP ENVY.  My question: we feel fairly confident we can change out the card, if we know which one is best to get. A:Graphics Card for HP Envy 15 Notebook PC

Hi: There are no removable graphics cards in your notebook like there may be in a desktop PC. In your notebook the GPU is soldered to and is part of the motherboard. The only way to upgrade the graphics would be to replace the motherboard with one listed in the service manual for your specific model notebook that may have better graphics. This will be both expensive and labor intensive.

Hello You have EFI BIOS and a 460 watt power supply so upgrade options good. You must disable secure boot and enable legacy boot in BIOS before swapping in new card and should uninstall current graphics drivers.  Nvidia cards are a better fit with HP systems due to lower power draw and length of card. EVGA makes a dual slot GTX 1060 single fan card that is about 7 inches long and needs a minimum 400 watt power supply. It also needs a 6 pin PCIe connector for power. The EVGA SC with copper heatpipe version gets better reviews than the base single fan one. Grzy

A:have ENVY M7-J020DX want upgrade to AC 2x2 card?

I was loaned in connection with this Forum an Envy 17t-j029nr series laptop around Christmas of 2013 for about a year and it had no BIOS whitelist. I confirmed that and posted on it at that time. The M7-j020DX is part of the same group of laptops and uses the same service manual so I have to assume it also has no whitelist issue and one can install any half-height mini-pcie wireless or wireless + BT card you can find, with or without an HP Part number. HP has never confirmed exactly where in the production cycle it terminated the whitelist. By observation and process of elimination it is apparent the whitelist is gone from all current models and has been for models manufactured since about the fourth quarter of 2013. So my best guess as one of the people who has followed this pretty closely for years is that you have no whitelist issue to deal with but I am not in a position to guaranty it.   If you do not want to risk it based on just my say-so (I would not blame you) then this card is in the Service manual: Intel Wireless-N 7260BN 802.11b/g/n 22 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter 717384-001 http://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Options-7260-HMWG-R-Bluetooth-717384-001/dp/B016Q1NQG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UT... And will work even IF there IS a whitelist. I know it is not AC but the closest I can 100% guarantee will work.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I have an HP Envy 17t 3000 CTO Notebook PC Product# LW900AV Every so often I would get the message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" for quite a while but was never able to fix the problem. Then I started to get the blue screen of death which said something about a memory dump and a memory driver. Usually I would hold down the power button and restart it.

Then while in regular windows mode the screen got all staticy, upon restarting I got to the windows logo, then I'd see a black screen with static in it and it never fully started. I can go into safe mode with no problems, graphics or otherwise.

Going into Device Manager I deleted the AMD Radeon HD 7690 M XT Graphics driver, then restarted, and it would start and run fine with the other driver (Intel driver) until Windows loaded another driver for the Radeon driver (I couldn't stop it) after loading the screen would go blank again. Nothing found online so far has fixed the problem.

I then went into Recovery and went back to factory settings. Which worked for a few hours, everything worked fine. Then I started to get the static again, to the point I'm right back to where I started.

Can anyone tell me exactly what the problem is? Hardware or Driver? Why did it work temporarily? Is it possible to totally disable the Radeon driver for good, where it doesn't reload when restarted? A:Problem with AMD Radeon graphics card on my HP Envy Laptop

I can't tell you how to turn off the Radeon card for good, as that information isn't in the HP Envy manuals that I was able to find, but I can tell you a few things.

1. It sounds like a hardware problem. The Radeon card may be failing. The other possibility is that the Radeon driver is becoming corrupted somehow (how I don't know, and it's a bit of a mystery as to how it could become corrupted)

2. The computer has two graphics cards in it. One for low power general use (the Intel) and one for more demanding graphics duties (the Radeon). In your laptop, whichever card is used is supposed to be switchable.

3. It works properly in Safe Mode because the laptop only loads the Intel drivers in Safe Mode, not the ATI/Radeon driver. Therefore the Radeon card is not being used in Safe Mode, so it will always appear to work properly.

Since it's out of warranty, you might want to have it evaluated by a trained technician. The graphics card may have to be replaced (if it even can be - some cant be). Get a quote first on how much the evaluation will cost, and how much a graphics card will cost if that turns out to be the trouble. If its a significant chunk of a new laptop's cost, you might want to reconsider fixing that one, and just buy another.

Additionally, if anyone has a power supply product they would recommend for this theoretical combination, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks!

A:Upgrading to GTX 1070 Graphics Card for HP ENVY 750-137C

@Drifterx311?, welcome to the forum. Here are the full specs of the card on nVidia's website.  The card is double slot and 10.5" in length.  I suggest measuring from the Back I/O plate to the front of the case to see how much space is available.  I believe that it will fit, but it will be tight. As you stated, the specs recommend a 500W power supply unit (PSU).  Personally, I would buy one with at least 600W.  This will give you some extra power for peak needs.  I like Corsair products.  Here are some PSU's for you to review at Newegg.  If you choose a modular PSU it will allow you to only install the cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better airflow.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer.  Read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about them.  A good PSU will make your system run much better. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

After updating to Windows 10 a while (years? right when it was released) ago, I noticed that my Beats audio stopped working and I have a Nvidia GEFORCE sticker on my laptop so I'm assuming that stopped working as well because the only graphics that it shows that it's using is the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 and doesn't even list Nvidia. I know my Beats used to work, but I haven't cared to fix it until now. I'm not entirely positive if I should have Nvidia or not, but I'm assuming so simply because of the sticker that came with the laptop.

I've fixed the Beats audio before but it disappears after a while so I'm looking for a more permanent fix. As for the graphics card, I've tried looking up the computer and tried installing the Nvidia driver for it here but it tells me that it can't install it.

Thanks in advance!

When I bought my HP ENVY Phoenix 810-430qe, I had the option to get the GTX 980 card (which I should have done) but I opted for the 745 OEM. I want to upgrade my graphics card to the GTX 980 and noticed that some cards are made a little differently. My question is which card is fully compatible with my computer and which one do you all recommend? http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-980/buy-gpu Thanks!

Greetings, We know your system will run a GTX 980. Two items to verify are Power Supply (PS) requirement and card dimensions. You'll also need a combination of 6 pin or 8 pin additional (PS) power connectors to run the card.  The manufacturer should provide an adapter to make it work. You can run a 980 on a 500 Watt PS. A 980Ti needs 600 W or better. Check clearance from the back input-output panel where the 745 is now. The 980 cards are usually 10+ inches in length. The 980 cards are double slot so you'll probably have to pop a backplate to install the card. Cheers!

My laptop (envy m6 1162la) was not using the graphics card (AMD Radeon 7640M). I tried reinstalling the software AMD Catalyst but it wasn't detecting it either. I checked the windows device manager and the graphics card was greyed out (had to turn the option to show hidden devices because it wasn't showing). I tried updating drivers but it kept showing an error message (Code 45). Then I followed the steps in this guide and tried uninstalling the device, rebooting and reinstalling. Now it's not even showing in the manager, and I can't find the driver download page in the HP website. I also checked the AMD legacy software (catalyst) because it said it included the old drivers, but no luck so far. I'd appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks in advance.

I was recently given 2 AIO computers from a local charity group to try and repair that both have the same problem. They seem to start but the screen remains black on both no cursor or anything. I will list what I have done and this will be on both of them.Replaced ram with known good ones.Removed the CMOS battery for 15 minCleared BIOS with jumper (battery in)Tried tapping F10 for 8 seconds then arrow down twice and hit Enter twice.A hard reset unplugged and held in power button for a couple minutes I see an HDMI port on both but I believe this is an input port?? I have read about reflashing the BIOS on a 23-d010ea and was wonder if this is what might be needed??That article is here CLICK HERE toward the bottom of the page.Any help is apreciated!!

The right hinge on my Envy 17 Touch Screen has failed, causing the case to become separated and the lid to be nearly impossible to close. This is the second Envy 17 to fail in this way. About a year ago my husband's broke and HP spent nearly three months attempting to repair it before finally just shipping him a new one. This appears to be a flaw in the construction of the hinge assembly, and we have noticed that the newer models, such as my husband's replacement, have a much improved design in comparison. We spent about $1,300 on this computer (it has an i7 Core and 16 GB of RAM) and hoped it would hold up for a while. The laptop was great, but now it has become difficult to use without fear of causing further damage. Thank you for any suggestions.
