Archive webpage every day

Q: Archive webpage every day

Ok, I am trying to figure out a way that I can archive a certain webpage every day. The URL does not change, but the content does. I would like to be able to look at these pages over a period of time for analysis.

Does anyone know of any free software that will do this? Some way for excel to create a new tab for each day? Something?

Preferred Solution: Archive webpage every day

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you're using Windows, get wget and create a scheduled task for it.

I have IE 9 (windows 7 x64) and use it often to save webpages as (.mht) archive files. I use this option for saving Facebook photo albums as this enables the ability to sort through photos offline without all the ads that Facebook has on their pages.

This option worked fine up until Facebook changed the format of their photo and album views last month. Now if an album contains 100 pictures the archive will only save about half of that when prior I was able to save the entire album often with 100 or more pictures. Has anyone experienced this with the new format in Facebook?

My question is, is there a way around this using some other archive tool or if there is an add-on for Inernet Explorer 9?

Thanks

A:Saving Facebook webpage as an MHT archive

Unfortunately, IE is not very well supported for add-ons, unlike Firefox & Chrome.
You may have to save as Web page complete (HTML) instead of MHT archive.
This will create an HTML file and a related folder of the same name. The file & folder must be kept together when moving or copying. To open, just double-click the HTML file and it will automatically use all the objects & elements that are in the related folder.

When I print any webpage in IE10 in Windows 7, the footer contains a file path like file:///C:/Users/username/AppData/Local/Temp/Low/80S1TSTK.htm instead of the URL of the webpage I am printing. In the Page Setup settings of Print Preview I have chosen to print the URL in the footer. This started happening after I reinstalled Windows when my computer got infected.

I have tried the following but I still have the problem.

In my registry I went to the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PageSetup and made sure the footer value is &u&b&d.

When above action did not fix it, I reset Internet Explorer ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737). The problem remains. It is still there after IE automatically updated to IE11.

Any help will be appreciated.

A:Footer of printed webpage shows local drive path instead of the webpage url

Look at the page setup in your printer options. Footer should be &u&b&d. If it is, some IE add-on you're using has created the problem.

I've inherited a Windows 2008 R2 server (no snickering and let's stay on topic please).

It's on a closed, flat network.

There's a webserver elsewhere in this closed, flat network.

All the other hosts in this network can go to the webserver and see the landing page.http://10.242.34.100:8000

EXCEPT the W2K8 box.

On the W2K8 box:

I've turned off IE ESC
Made sure port 8000 is allowed through the Advanced Firewall
Added http://10.242.34.100:8000 to
the trusted sites
I can indeed ping 10.242.34.100
* telnet 10.242.34.100 8000 just hangs

When I go to http://10.24.34.100:8000, it throws this error, "Internet Explorer cannot display
the webpage"

What am I missing?

All of a sudden Internet Explorer 8 and Live Messenger stopped working. I was surfing on some sites which worked okay, but I couldn't open new webpages. Live Messenger worked as normal.
I rebooted the computer to see if that would solve anything. After that, Internet Explorer doesn't work at all, it shows "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" on every webpage I visit. Have searched everywhere and tried a bunch of different tricks to solve this, but I can't make IE8 work again.

I can't start Live Messenger either, it says that the service isn't available, but my girlfriend can log on and it works with the Web Messenger.
The trouble shoot thingie makes an exclamation mark with "Network ports" and says something about faulty proxy- or firewall settings. That can't be true however since I have no proxy and the only firewall I use is Windows own, no difference whether it's activated or not. Repair doesn't do anything either.

What can be the problem?

There's no problems with Firefox and Web Messenger works too. Email is no problem either, so there is no connection problems.

I use Live Messenger 2009 and Windows 7 public beta x32.

I have Windows 98es and Outlook 2000. Every once in a while I get a pop up asking if I would like to archive my e-mails that are over so many days old.

Please tell me what will happen to these e-mails if I check "YES" and how do I retreive any of them at a later date. I have been unable to find anything on archiving.

A:Archive?

Joanne B.,

When you click 'Yes', the messages you have in your mail folders will be moved to another file (archive.pst) for safe keeping. Which messages and which folders are archived depends on how you setup the AutoArchive settings for each folder.

Once the messages are archived you can view them by selecting the appropriate Archive folder just as you would your regular folders. (See attachment. I archived the Inbox and the folder named 'Luis'.)

Archiving is helpful if your mailbox size is limited, as it may be when used in a Corporate/Workgroup confguration.

Find out more about the Archive feature:
In Outlook, go to Help > Microsoft Outlook Help > Index. Type "archive" in the 'keyword' field and hit the 'Search' button. You should get about 25 listings in the 'Choose a topic' section (bottom). Select a topic and the info will appear in the window to the right.

Apparently, Vista's backup programs do NOT respect the archive bit. I tested this by manually resetting the archive bit (attribute command) and doing both a full system and a regular backup. I have a large block of astronomical images that I do not need in the backups and thought that maybe I could save some space on my backup drive but that wasn't the case. I expected that the full backup would save those files but hoped the regular backup would not as they represented about 1/4 of my disks current usage. It is not a big issue, just something that everyone should know.

Hi,
I think the Internet Archive will interest a lot of us:

http://www.archive.org/index.php

This text from 'Ask Leo' newsletter:
"The Internet Archive is one of those sites that you could spend hours just browsing around. They've really gone the extra mile and are providing video and audio archives as well. It's an amazing site.

The Internet Archive's "Wayback Machine" is extra cool, and a great resource if the website or page you were looking for has dropped off of the internet. It might still be in the Wayback Machine! Quoting the site: "The Internet Archive Wayback Machine puts the history of the World Wide Web at your fingertips. The Archive contains over 100 terabytes and 10 billion web pages archived from 1996 to the present."

A:The Internet Archive

That is awesome!

Do you remember E-quill?

I really liked that program. I heard it was bought by another company, but they must have shelved it.

Hi, I got this really weird problem on my new laptop.

I can't extract iso or bin files from rar archives and when attempting to move them the speed quickly reduces to a crawl.

Whether I use winrar or 7zip makes no difference.

The problem persists on a fresh install of Vista.

I'm running vista 64 SP1.

Hi .A corrupt file is simply a damaged file, one that will not work as programmed (because it's damaged). I have no idea why they are called "corrupt" as opposed to "damaged."http://www.smartcomputing.com/Editorial/ar...3.asp&guid=Many things, including malware, can result in corrupt files. If these are systems files, Windows may act "unusual", if they are data files...the user may be unable to read, write to, or open same. You can try using the tool listed, LEARN how to use SFC.EXE (system file checker) in this article! - http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html This will replace any missing or damaged system files (HELP files included). I reinstalled XP on my PC 2 days ago and before erasing everything, I transfered all of my personnal documents in an external usb HDD.
After having everything reinstalled, I try to get back my docs, which i had put in my usb HDD. The problem is that before transfering them, I put all in the same folder and compressed the folder into a ZIP one.
I tried to decompress the folder but half of the documents are there, and the most important isnt. When I check inside the ZIP folder, i can see all the files but when i manually extract some of them, they are empty sized.
I dont really care about the rest but i really need to find a way to get back my 2 sons birth pictures.
If anyone has an idea...
Thanks

You could try this tool:

No promises.
Also I think WinZip has a built in repair tool. Which program did you use to compress?

Got a bit of a wierd 1.

I was moving some files off my backup drive to another PC and AVG said that several zip files were infected with "Archive Bomb".
I immediately scanned the files with malwarebytes which found nothing, so I put the drive onto my other PC which has Avast and malwarebytes. I scanned with both and it came up clean again.

Should I be worried about this, is it a AVG false positive?

Possible.

To make sure, you can try an online scan. Ensure your external and/or USB drives are inserted during the scan.

Go here and click 'ESET Online Scanner'.If you are not using Internet Explorer, double-click esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to install it, then click 'Run'.
Turn off the real-time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan.
Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
Click Start
If using Internet Explorer, allow the ActiveX control to install when asked.
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked and the Scan Archives option is ticked.
Click on Advanced Settings and ensure these options are ticked:Scan for potentially unwanted applications
Scan for potentially unsafe applications
Enable Anti-Stealth Technology

Next to 'Current scan targets: Operating memory, Local drives', click the Change.. button.
Tick all the boxes that correspond to your external/inserted drives.
Click Start
Wait for the scan to finish.
When the scan is done, if it shows a screen that says "Threats found!", click "List of found threats", and then click "Export to text file..."
Save that text file to your desktop, and then copy/paste the contents in your next reply.
