Q: Intermittent BSODs over the past few months

Ever since I built this PC I've had BSODs every so often. I've not been able to trace them to any particular source, but lately they seem to be getting a lot more frequent and I am getting fed up, so I figured I would try asking here.

I've used the SF Diagnostic Tool to gather the requested information and attach it to this thread.

The most recent one seems to suggest a problem with the CPU. It's been suggested to me that my CPU might need a microcode update - I installed SiSoft Sandra Lite which is able to check the CPU microcode level and indeed it does suggest it isn't on the latest version, but as far as I can tell there is no procedure for manually updating microcode, you just have to wait and hope it comes down through Windows Update or something.

Can anyone help?

The dump files are not showing a definitive cause but most of them are 0x1A, so the best course
of action in these type of situations is detailed in the quote below.

If memtest comes free from errors, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.



Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.



Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Dell XPS PC was extremely stable until may of this year which is when I started getting BSODs. About 1 year prior to this I started experiencing very slow performance; startup and logon would average between 6 to 7 minutes. So, in May of this year, I added more memory, increased from 8GB to 16GB, and I added an additional internal hard drive and moved most of my media files to it, so the original hard drive contains only windows, software and my document files. I also, removed Norton Internet Security and replaced with Windows Security Essential. When I started experiencing BSODs I ran mem86tst, but it did not turn up any problems. Also, I ran Tweakbit PCcleaner which cleaned up my registry. I also ran Tweakbit Driver updater which recommend a bunch of driver updates, but I was reluctant to make that many changes so I updated only my graphics card.

This is cable service, right?

First--slightly off topic--the only phone in a household should not be via cable company unless the phone is only a luxury. I know that my cable company even advised my neighbor to not switch to them from a landline unless he had a cell phone.

Sounds like a problem somewhere between the place where her service branches off from the main coax cable and the modem. Maybe a loose connection; maybe a defective component; maybe a frayed cable that sometimes contacts something it shouldn't.

And those technicians didn't start working backward to find the source of the fault???

If the service is similar to mine outside the residence her cable connects to the company's cable and that junction should be grounded. Carefully check that connection for tightness and for absence of corrosion or rust. Clean it if necessary and protect it if that seems to be needed. Unless that connection is the source of the problem I think that it is up to the technicians to trace the problem back to the source.

I've been getting seemingly random BSODs on my Win8.1 box for months now. There are several different errors that show up, and most of them seem to point to the drivers. I have no idea which driver could be causing the issue though, as I've reinstalled the majority of them.

A few I can remember:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NON_EXECUTE_MEMORY
TIMER_OR_DPC_INVALID

Bluescreenview points at ntoskrnl.exe for nearly every one of them, though some have others thrown in as well such as usbehci.sys, dgxkrnl.sys, and ndis.sys

I'm at a loss of what to do at this point. Some days I only get one BSOD, other days I get 5+. It's really starting to be an issue.

MSINFO32 report is missing. Please do this:





MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "msinfo32 /nfo %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.



Out of 11 memory dumps there were 5 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.

- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems

Hello all. Since around the middle of October, I have suddenly been receiving BSODs, mostly DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, or IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have collected the necessary files and will upload them, with one caveat - I cleaned out the dump files a week or so ago, so I only have a few. After trolling forums for a bit, I did a few self diagnostics such as updating drivers, and that seems to have reduced the frequency. I was getting them at least once a day, but after updating the Razer Synapse program by cleanly uninstalling and reinstalling, I was able to knock a lot of it out.

I updated to Windows 10 basically the day it was released, and have not really had any problems up until this point. I generally use this computer for gaming, but it does also serve as a home office PC as well. I am very careful as to what files I will allow on my PC, and I have run multiple virus scans/Windows Defender scans. The only thing that I have seen it pick up is a false positive on Oblivion.exe (game) due to modding the EXE to be LAA. Other than that it is clean.

I also ran SeaTools, and that came back clear. I have not run chkdsk yet, but will probably run that if necessary. The only new hardware that I can recall adding in the past few months would be the Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter, back near the end of October/beginning of November.

Hi there!

So I've been getting multiple BSODs over the past few months during general use. I've gotten several different stop error codes that I will list below, as well as uploading the zip file as per the posting instructions.

System service exception
Driver Irql not less or equal
Kmode exception not handled
System thread exception not handled
Page fault in nonpaged area,

Any and all help is very appreciated! I've tried updating drivers and running memtest, but the problems still persist.

Welcome to the 8forums.

It appears I cannot read the latest dump file, this could be caused by hardware damage. I think the hard drive might be causing this.
The 2nd most recent dump file says there might be memory corruption.

Before the reformat/reinstall, I accrued similar BSOD error codes as attached. I'll note that the frequency of BSODs has gone down considerably since I reformatted/reinstalled (Instead of once maybe 5-12 hours of activity, now its closer to once per 24-30 hours).
 
I've run various versions of MemTest86 (As well as Window's Memory Diagnostic Tool) while swapping the sticks around, checking each pairs, different slots and different combinations, all of which have resulted in no errors. I'll be running MemTest again as soon as Driver Verifier is complete. I have run SSDLife on both SSDs with no errors in both SMART and file system integrity (I can include logs if need be), I'll be running health checks on my HDD but recent checks on both SMART and file system integrity (As of Dec 2015) came back clean.

Hi there this is my first post on these forums so apologies if I'm not too familiar with the layout. I'm not too computer savy so if anyone could try simplify any answers/solutions that would be great. Basically the problem is for the past few months around start up of windows 7 I was getting freezes, BSOD errors (in particular IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL and Page_fault_in_non_paged_area being the main ones) and my pc would be in a continuous loop of booting then freezing or shutting down and I couldn't get the pc to work. I thought the problem could be corrupted windows files so I reinstalled windows onto my computer using the isntallation disk and installed drivers and all was working fine for around 4 days. Each day my windows would have importaint updates so I installed them when prompted. One day I all of a sudden started getting the same errors I got before, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGEED_AREA and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL and no new software had been installed at this point. I have tested ram and my hard drive with no errors showing although when looking at properties of my computer I have 20GB of ram (16GB Available) not sure if this has anything to do with it (2 x 8 GB sticks 1 X 4 GB stick). Hopefully you guys can help me out and prevent me shelling out on a new rig. Thank you, Conor .

Well Ive had the BSOD but finally after sorting out the issue & changing the RAM I had no BSOD issues for few days but this has started again & the error I get is "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", which according to me is the driver issues..!!!

Can anybody please specify me the solution..???

Originally, there was no windows in my laptop since I bought the DOS version. But the first OS that I installed was win 8 pro and I switched back to win 7 ultimate at some time and finally switched back to win 8 pro. Both are full retail version.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @2.4GHz (Quadcore but my dxdiag says that I have 8CPUs?)

MotherBoard: I tried with CPU-z but it says invalid in motherboard field. So I googled and found out that I can use cmd to find it. Below is some command that I type through google. Not sure which one is my motherboard model.

I've been getting BSOD since early october. I already tried to use system restore back to previous month before I got BSOD and still getting it.
I've tried to re install windows several times and still get this BSOD.
There was a time I was just freshly installed the windows and in the middle of installing drivers of my laptop and I got BSOD.
I noticed I only get BSOD if I connect to the internet, specifically while browsing or downloading. I never get BSOD while being offline.
So here I am, finally given up on how to solve this and search for help from expert.

I have so many Blue Screen errors on my PC I don't know what to do with myself.

I have re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate fresh.

I have been running Driver Verifier for the past 6 hours. No BSOD so far so I am thinking it isn't a driver issue.

I have ran the Seagate HD Diagnostic Test, and everything has passed.

A lot of the time these BSOD's occur when I am gaming/streaming my games.

I'm throwing in the towel.
I have received numerous BSOD's over the past 8 months or so. They reference different errors, but most are memory related. The last one (today) was saying that I was attempting to execute non-executable memory.

I have not had a lot of time to sit and fix the issue. I finally decided to come here and get help.

I am attaching the required zip files.
By the way, this happens on all 4 accounts on the computer, not just admin, etc.
The dump files are processed from my personal account, which is also the admin account.
Do I need to attach the zip files from every profile on the host?
Please help asap!

So as the title suggests, I've been having multiple BSOD's over the past few months that appear to be getting more frequent. I'm not sure if they're related as some of the error codes are different while others are the same. Hopefully you guys can help me here.

On my C: Drive that is SSD I used to have around 38GB free (was even 42GB but after accidental turning the windows update on I lost to 38GB). Since I stayed at 38GB without wasting space with silly windows updates (turned off ofc) and I installed only tiny programs, I don't see how did I become from 38GB to 23GB of free space?? I may have searched files through 15K photos a month ago if such thing ever reduces disk space (such as indexing) but I checked one windows.ecb (or something like that) file was only 133MB, I don't see where all the space got lost?? I was installing a few (3-4) small programs that when I saw are of no use to me - uninstalled. I have run disk cleanup many times and I don't see where all that space went?

I may have accidently enabled 'Windows 7 file recovery' but I made sure to disable this trash immediately, meaning I do not have any folders on the disk space that would take so much memory.

I know that sometimes if you delete a lot of files like thousands of files, 20GB + of space, the space doesn't restore immediately (whenever it comes from many deleted files) but for that reason I deleted files from removable disk, to not get any traces on the main HDD.

Is there any tool to check over the months, how your free space got lowered, I could then see on a graph if the drop of space got sudden or not, to identify what could have caused it. And I dislike using any 3rd party 'cleaners' or whatever software

Well the problem is that it is slow and i think they have some unwanted virus on there which wont leave even tho i do system recovery and many other virus protection program has told me there was no errors.I cant reboot bc my dvd drive wont work it stills open but the light.The only time my computer work finely is after a update or recovery.Please help me with this problem?My computer is a acer extensa 5620 and has windows vista.

What is the make and model of your computer? You may have a Recovery Partition on your computer. If you start up your computer, you may have a quick message over the logo that says Press (key) to Enter Recovery, sometimes this is F11. If so, this will set your computer back to Factory Defaults. This will remove all personal data, so backup first.
If you do not have a recovery partition, then read up on the link in my signature PC Running Slow? And try those things.

Hi people,
I have facing this crashes for a past 3 months , i had windows 7 home premium 32 bit version which had the same problem now for time being i switched over to windows xp for trouble shooting but still the problem persists with random crashes

Thats right, ive gotten BSoD 41 times in the past 5 months (Since I got my computer) Im pretty mad as it seems to happen while playing Minecraft or while web-browsing (witch are the 2 things I do most ) but it has happened right on start-up. Don't bother checking for solutions. Can't remember a time that has actually worked for me. I am also going to ignore the codes for the moment as they do not enjoy telling the exact issue at hand.

1. What are you doing when the BSOD pops up? You say you keep it in sleep mode, etc?

2. It is a very rare issue. Give us your computer specs (I recommend Speccy for a more thorough deluge of information).

3. Toss us a small list of your most used programs (that you actually have to open yourself) and any consistent programs such as Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus.

4. There is a chance you do have a minor (or very sneaky) virus on your computer causing the issue. Run a thorough virus scan via Avast or maybe Avira (free-versions) and nab yourself Comodo (free again) while you are at it.

5. Finally (and last on the list) how often do you actually turn off your computer? What are your core temperatures? When was the last time you applied Thermal? Can you cook an egg on the darn thing? Let us know.

How did you disabled it, through device manager or did you disabled it in your Biossettings?.
Your Logitech G710 keyboard drivers are outdated(2009), please update the latest drivers from here Support + Downloads: G710 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Logitech and also update the drivers(2012) for your Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910.

Please also update your Intel Watchdog Timer driver(2010), it is (probably) part of the intel mangement engine.
Check the support/driver downloadsite of your OEM model or system(mainboard) for the latest windows 8.1 driver here GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z87X-D3H (rev. 1.x).
And please also update all the other drivers to the latest version.

Here's what I've done over those 6 months:
Updated all drivers, tested for overheating, re-installed windows 7 Pro over the top of prior install. Cleared out all ATI drivers and reinstalled. Tried everything I could think of. I am not sure how best to use the Dump files to solve the problem, but am pretty sure I still have an ATI card issue. Tried going back to older drivers to no avail.

Have used the following tools to try to resolve this: BlueScreenView, Driver Reviver, Driver Sweeper, MS FixIt, and Driver Agent.

A:Intermittent freezes and occasional BSOD's over last 6 months

Welcome aboard.

► Reinstall the USB Ports drivers.
Right click on the My Computer icon> Select manage. It will open the computer management window.
Click on the "Device manager" in the left pane.
Expand USB Serial Bus Controller.
Right click > Uninstall them all, one by one.
When Done, restart the computer.
On restart, the necessary drivers will be auto-installed.
► Uninstall Trend Micro, install Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows.

► Free up the startup.

Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept the restart.
► Roxio : Dont use any virtual disc drive.
Let us know the results.

Since about 7 months back I've been experiencing a BSOD on my Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5529 laptop. It would happen upon logging into my account and would only stop if I booted up in safe mode. Other people use the computer too so I can't be quite sure what may have caused it but since this week it has actually booted up twice, including now, without being in safe mode and hasn't blue screened. The BOSD always returns though so I'm sure this time will be no different. I was wondering if anyone could help me resolve this issue as I would love to be able to use this laptop again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey everybody,
I've been getting system crashes and restarts for the past two months. It seems to be completely random and I never use any programs that are too intensive - at most photoshop. In the first day it happened, it restarted 5 times within half an hour. This was helped by me doing a system restore. Still had the problem but it was around once a day. After talking to HP support a few days ago and doing that the guy told me to do, it got waaay worse and I restored it again. It's still worse than before but slightly better.
Anyway, I have no idea what I should do. Please help!

Hi, I am facing wifi connectivity problem from past 6 months for the same I have coordinated with call center at least 50 or more times & 4 times  engineers has visited my place & 2 times , I went to service centre , but till now my problem has'nt resolved they aren't able to identify that what the exact problem is , I am wasting my atleast one hour of time daily to get this issue resolved by my self but its not working . when ever i am contacting call center they are  navigating me to engineers , & engineers are telling there is software issues please update . I have updated every single update in my system & the same thing i am doing from last 6 months but the issue is not getting resolved. I have visited the service center of Hyderabad , I dont understand what kind of engineers HP has recruited they aren't ready to listen what customer is saying. Any way , I am fade up with this follow up with call center & their false promises & of no use of so called service centers .  I WANT RESOLUTION AT THE EARLIEST.  Kindly provide me escalation matrix of HP . I have to mail it to HP CEO. HP was known for service in my opinion , but they have proveed me fool.

I have W7, 6 memory 650 HD, quad core -2 year old hd computer. ISP CABLE 12 m speed - On net speed tests , i get 10 to 20 download speeds. I am using 335 g with, with 249g showing as still available for a total 584. .

COMPUTER is running very very slow on net and non- net, with occasional hang ups that last sometimes last as much as a minute. The Hang ups are more frequent on non- net and I sometimes get the no responding.

We checked everything that could be using extra resources and it made very little differences .

We discovered one potential problem and I seek your advice on this matter-- In the info drive properties , The box that says says " COMPRESS THIS DRIVE TO SAVE DISC SPACE " was CHECKED.

A friend said that if the g's are uncompressed , my 335g could possibly be double and the drive is overloaded causing the computer to run slow everywhere- He suggests that I just go buy a new 2 tb hd and move all my stuff over and keep the existing hd as a partial back up.
I am extremely hesitant to remove the check box for fear of what could happen.

I do happen to have everything backed up via external hd including the Operating system , but putting that in motion is something that I would like to avoid.

Anyway, I sure would appreciate your advice on this mess.

In addition, as the optimization tutorial suggested, the more programs you have installed, the higher the chance you will have for slowdowns. Only have a single antivirus installed at any one time, and please oh please say that it isn't Avast!, McAfee, or AVG -.-

For the networking problem, go to the wireless adapter card's manufacturer's website and look for any updates to the driver software. If there are, download it, uninstall the driver on your computer, and then install the new driver.

Check your add ons and make sure they are not swamping your computer with slowdowns. Disable any you do not want or use.

Like the topic title says my Windows 7 computer has been getting Blue Screens on and off for a while now.  This is a fairly recent computer that I built at the start of last year.  I don't know how much help this information would be but at the start of this year I installed a new 2TB hard drive, and made a switch from WIFI to Ethernet, and sometime after that the BSODs started happening.  I bring up the Ethernet bit because one of the BSODs happened after I accidentally knocked out the Ethernet cable.
 
I decided to stop putting it off after i got two Blue Screens within the same hour today.
 
I've attached the minidump files down below.
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Iv'e been suffering from bsod since shortly after build, done lots of re instals, different discs,every,test Ican find no change memtest (ok) memtest 86 older version (ok).
When I run Mem86_4 ALL of the sticks fail at test 7 (block movement ?) in every
configuration, 4,2x2, single, tried them all.
She does run in safemode with networking,but bsod on normal start.
I'm using my laptop for this.
I think I really need help here

Seems you've got back sticks of RAM, just buy new RAM and it'll be fine
Test each stick separately to identify the defective one(s)

Download and install the security setup of your choice, update the software, and then run a full scan of your system for viruses and malware. If you only install MSE, I would also suggest installing and updating Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download, but do not start the free trial/full version of Malwarebytes. Run a full scan with Malwarebytes after updating it. Post back the results.

Never tried using a forum before so please excuse me if I do something wrong.
I'm desperate.
I built this PC with a little help from a computer savant. He helped me chose the pieces and I put it together. It's about 15 months old. Recently it fried the main SSD from which the OS booted (after 11 months of use). It was of course my fault for filling the SSD more than 80% (I have no computer certifications, I go by instinct most of the time and then learn the hard way) ... so it wouldn't surprise me if I have something to do with the computer failing so much now.
I've also had the feeling that my system has never really ran at full potential.
I think my BIOS settings need seen to as well. It's all on "default", when I think they can be tuned according to the components... but I don't know how to do that

Hello all,

Over the past 6 months or so I have been getting random BSODs with no obvious symptoms of what is causing them.

They started happening last September after I got back from the Summer. To begin with I tried to diagnose the problem following various guides to try and work out what could be causing them. I did the following:
Memtest
Reg check
Driver Verifier
Updated Drivers
Checked for any physical damage on hardware
Tried restoring

No matter what I did I could not either fix the problem or find the cause of the problem. The main reason for this was the "ntoskrnl.exe+XXXXX" would appear each time on each crash, and searching online I could not find a definitive reason or answer to the crashes.

So I decided in the meantime to live with the possible chance that I would BSOD every now and then. For the most part this was fine as they became less frequent.

Then came today. I've had 3 BSOD in one day and now its starting to irritate me. Knowing that my previous efforts to try and find a solution were to no results, I just don't know what to do. I'm getting the point that I might just rip out all my hardware and start fresh, but that won't be for another 3 months or so.

Sorry for all the text and thanks for reading in advance.

BSODs are random, it can be just browsing chrome or in the middle of a game. I've attached my most recent dumps. Strange things that my computer does that are worth noting is random extensions crash on chrome, and sometimes chrome just closes at a random time and won't open back up until I restart my computer. Some games(overwatch is the most consistent in crashing but it's still random) randomly crash so I thought it might have been my video card, but I run Unigine perfectly fine with alright temperatures in the max settings. Also when chrome crashes sometimes when I go to restart my computer that's when I'll get a bluescreen. Just before I started writing this my chrome closed so I had to restart and got the damn BSOD. Sometimes I will go to restart or shutdown and it just gets stuck on shutting down.

It's like sometimes I am certain that is has to be a driver, other times I am not sure at all, and then something else a little different will happen and then I'm certain it's hardware. I can't pin it down at all.

I'm on my 3rd set of ram, chkdsk and memtest both come back with zero problems. I want to list everything I've done but to be honest over the course of half a year, I can't even remember half of the things.

Reinstalled Windows 10+ times, used DDU in safe mode (cant load safe mode anymore) to remove AMD drivers and reinstalled the latest, around 10-15 times. Bought a new and more powerful... Read more

Multiple BSODs since > 2 months. Most often atikmdag.sys causing it, but lately multiple other drivers invovled. Tried upgrading/downgrading graphics drivers, chipset drivers, tried updating BIOS, tried manually installing AMD drivers. chdsk without errors, sfc scan without errors, anti-virus scans without errors, memtest for 4 h without errors. Furmark benchmark 3 h without errors.
The most common trigger for the BSOD is scrolling a web page (not during benchmarks or playing games)! Disabling harware acceleration did not help either.

Max temp on Furmark - 72 C
Max temp on Prime95 Blend 8 tests - CPU 74 C

Any help would be much appreciated! Things are getting desperate!

Back in May I went through quite a few rounds of troubleshooting here for BSOD's that had been occurring. (Search for my previous threads to see that.) I ran memtest for 8 hours and had no errors, updated a bunch of drivers, etc. Since then I have had almost no issues... until a couple of days ago. Now it seems suddenly I am getting BSOD's very frequently - sometimes multiple times a day. There is no obvious pattern as to what triggers them. Sometimes I am using Eclipse (Java IDE). Sometimes I am reading email on Outlook. Etc. I have attached the zip file with all the dumps from the very latest BSOD. I can attach others if needed. Perhaps someone here will see an issue that I can fix. Thanks!

A:BSODs recurring after a few months with few or none

First off, the G750 series has had some issues with video card problems (both with overheating and with failing cards). Stay aware of this while you're troubleshooting.

This is most likely the Intel(R) Management Engine Interface Driver. Please download and install the latest, Win8.1 compatible version available from the Asus website.

Out of 6 memory dumps there were 5 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case. Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostic... Read more

A:Random BSODs for a few months

Run a virus scan with your Anti Virus and then download and run Malwarebytes anti malware.

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes



   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Memtest86 will test your RAM



   Information

Run Memtest86 for at least 8 passes so we get enough information to confirm that your RAM isn't failing

Run a Disk Check to scan for errors



   Note

Afterwards go into an Elevated Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and type in sfc /scannow
If it finds errors reboot and run the scan two more times

Run SeaTools to see if your HDD or SSD is failing

Alright guys,

Hope you all can help me sort this out since it's driving me crazy. Back in December of 2011, I overhauled my gaming rig with a new power supply (750W Silverstone Strider Gold), a new CPU (Core 2 Quad Extreme 9650), a new video card (EVGA GTX570 Superclocked), a new audio card (Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty), an additional 2 x 2gb of G.SKILL DDR2 800 Pi RAM for a total of 8gb, and a new Corsair case (not that this should matter). The additional ram was matched with an older 2 x 2gb set of G.SKILL Pi RAM. According to the manufacturer, the only thing that was changed between the two sets was the heat spreader. Additionally, I'm running Vista Ultimate x64.

My machine hummed along awesomely for about 5 months. Then back in May of this year, I started getting random crashes in World of Warcraft and Battlefield 3. At first, I would just crash to the desktop, but then this devolved into total BSOD system crashes. The stop messages include the following: CACHE_MANAGER, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE, POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA, INTERRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

-So far I've done an SFC /SCANNOW, which comes back with the corruption of a couple files every time I run it. The corrupted file is inetres.admx and inetres.adml

A:Random BSODs for the last 4 months

Welcome
First we do not have any current dump reports, the most current is several months old, I do not know what happened to the most current dmp reports.
That being said, if I do not read any of your narrative, my first thought would be that this is a hardware problem. There is an ocassional reference to memory. That is all that your reports indicate.
Now based upon that information and the fact that using 4 sticks you had 1000 errors, I would conclude that this is a memory problem. In fact one failed memtest indicates memory problem and the sticks shold be changed.
My inclination is that your specific problem is that the 4 sticks do not play nicely together, which is often the case when you mix and match and do not buy all the sticks at once. The only thing that I can suggest from your post and the test results is that you test the machine using different ram.
This does not seem to be a problem that will be solved by reinstalling, Vista or any other OS.

You definitely need to reduce the items you got on start-up.

Perform a Clean boot:Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Reduce items at start-up. No software except anti-virus is required plus doing this improves the time for logging into windows:How to Change, Add, or Remove Startup Programs in Windows 7
Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:Click on the
Type CMD on Search
Left click and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow

Run Disk Check on your Hard Drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it.

Double click and open my computer.
Right click on desired drive and hit properties.
Click on tools tab and Check now.

Hey everyone, i've been having the same BSOD ever since I got my new computer in November last year.

After repeatedly getting the 'A clock interval was not recieved on a secondary processor' BSOD a million times, I decided to send my processor back to ebuyer who said it was faulty and sent me a new one. I've also reinstalled windows completely as well as take out all parts to clean them.

Unfortunately this still hasnt solved my problem out like i'd hoped. The bluescreens are less frequent but still a nuisance when I'm trying to do my university work. It also crashes randomly sometimes without a bluescreen error.

I found a post here and read about running my minidump files through Microsoft's debugger but the setup just failed so I find myself begging for someone to take a look at my minidump files and potentially find me an answer to this frustrating problem.

The crashes typically occur when doing very small tasks like clicking a button in 3DS max, links on firefox. It seems to happen when it's loading something within an application its more likely to crash. People i've spoke to about it think it could be the motherboard but i've updated the bios. I'll also include my system hardware in this post:

What is the make and model of your hard drives? Are you over-clocking? The minidumps are extremely vague, ntoskrnl.exe with no BUG Check Screen. Have you checked the hard drive for errors?

Hello all. I've been getting blue screen crashes for months (a check in my event viewer shows they started around January). Only recently did I decide enough was enough and to start looking into them.

Primarily, they manifest as STOP 0x109 errors, but there have also been a couple 0x1e errors and a few others show up once. I tried to enable driver verifier, as my research led me to believe that this was a driver error modifying the windows kernel. However, every time I tried to enable it and reboot, I would get a 0xc9 error. I found the erroneous driver that was causing this issue and deleted it, but upon digging back into the original repeated 0x109 errors I kept coming across the following in WinDbg:

"BugCheck 109, {a3a039d8a54ad540, 0, b266a988baa6cd90, 101}

Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt+76e80 )"

A quick google search yielded that this is the NT Kernel Multiprocessor, and that this showing up is something of a red herring - that is to say, it's an inconclusive cause for the issue. So, I'm hoping someone can help me out and point me in the right direction to determine what hardware is causing this issue (as I am now fairly certain it's a hardware issue, since it's not a specific driver being returned).

The 5 most recent are caused by memory corruption (probably a driver-My bet is avg)

I notice your AVG which is often at least a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace your AVG with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

It was kind of a curve ball, and a little unsettling, because I thought I had solved the problem. I think I've narrowed it down to my graphics card, since a lot of the recent BSODs point to it, but I'm not sure if it's because the drivers are bad, or if the card itself is bad (it's an Nvidia, and I thought that those cards are able to withstand gaming for several years, so I'm a little disheartened if it's a bad card).

x64
The original installed OS was Windows 7, I think (this is a used laptop)
My OS is a full retail version
Hardware around 4 years old
The OS was re-installed 6-8 months ago.

Various differemt bugchecks but they're all pointing to your GPU drivers of DirectX one way or another. I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling your nVidia video drivers and reinstalling the latest version. If you're already on the latest version, I'd recommend uninstalling and installing a previous version to the latest to be sure it's not a simple driver issue.

I've been having BSODs since I built my system nine months ago, and I'm at a complete loss as to what's wrong. Just recently I RMA'd my motherboard as a last-ditch attempt at a fix because I couldn't find anything wrong. Every blue screen is an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. My device drivers are all up to date. My BIOS is up to date. I've run about 20 memtests and all come back clean. I've run diagnostics on my hard drives and all come back clean.

I got my motherboard back from the manufacturer in the beginning of December. My first blue screen after that was yesterday, after I used Registry Booster to clean my registry. I restored the files since I'd hoped that I'd removed something accidentally. I just received a second one about a half hour ago. I reset, and the system hung when Windows was trying to load. I reset again, got the message that Windows didn't start normally and the system hung at the 27 second countdown to choose how to load Windows. I did a hard shut down, booted, and it appeared to boot normally.

I did have a backup motherboard I used while my current one was being repaired, and during that time I had three Kernel error blue screens. After the third, the system did an automatic Disk Check on reboot and I didn't have one after that. Granted, I was only using that motherboard for about a month.
