Q: NEW laptop drops wireless constantly

Hello, I just recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad U310. I'm very satisfied with everything about it... except for one little problem.

It constantly drops the wireless connection, unless I'm in the same room as the router. If I'm in the same room, everything runs super fast, however, if I'm across the house or upstairs (the router is downstairs), it'll drop connection every 20-30 minutes. The weird thing is, other devices (4 laptops & 3 iPhones) work just fine. Even my old HP laptop has fine connection upstairs, so I'm starting to think it's a problem with my laptop's wireless card.

Another thing that makes me think it's the laptop's problem... I was with my dad at a public library using their wifi the other day. My dad's computer ran at an average speed while mine was ridiculously slow.

The card is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200. I've updated the driver directly from the Intel website, but no help. I've tried changing channels, no help. I'm not sure what else I can do. Is it just simply because the laptop has a weak wireless network card? It can't be the router's problem right? Since all other devices work?

For the next two years I'll be living in a dorm, most likely using a ethernet cable, will this problem still appear if I'm not using the internet wirelessly?

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i5, and since the laptop is new, I haven't downloaded/installed anything that may have brought in a virus.

I really need a solution to this problem, otherwise I think I might have to return the laptop which I really don't want to do because it has everything I'm looking for in a PC. Ahhhh this is so aggravating.

I have a Netgear WGR614v.5 wireless router connected to my Quest DSL internet connection. My HP Pavilion laptop has problems connecting if it is not sitting in the same room as the router. The built in wireless card (Broadcom) will not see the network at all once it is in another room and the card I bought (D-Link) will pick up a connection in various places in the house, but will drop the connection if the computer gets moved my even an inch, sometimes less. It's extremely eratic. Both cards are included in my list of approved MAC addresses, and have the correct WEP password. There are three other laptops (Dell, Tosiba, Apple) that belong to family members or friends that have no problem connecting at all. The network signal is strong throughout the house. The settings on my HP are all equivalent to the settings on the compters that work, so I'm can't figure out why I can't connect. Anyone have an idea?

Hi, did you try without the MAC filter, I had the same problem with my Linksys router and my Dell Inspirion. I disabled MAC filteringand it's working fine.

Hello. Tearing hair out here. Been searching threads here and all over google. I have DSL thru Century Link. Router is Zyxel pk5001z. 2 laptops being used. ( well, they were until my MB fried out.) My laptop has Win 7, my girlfriends has Vista.- Dell inspiron 1525. Only had the service for about 2 mo's. My laptop was working fine wirelessly. Hers drops constantly.Currently hers is the only one being used.Sometimes shows the red x, other times just local only.- Drops and reconnects within seconds. I have set channel to 6 and 11. disabled IPC 6 in laptop adapter, uninstalled/reinstalled wireless card in device manager, checked for newer driver, checked for firmware upgrade in modem, set to g/n only, ( no option for G only) connection strenth is full. No wirless phones, no close neighbors, etc. I have read posts indicating the routers are junk, other posts saying Vista has issues with certian routers, but nothing that pinpoints my exact problem. Also, just re-loaded Vista the other day. Had this problem before and after reload. Oh and the laptop works fine hardwired. Please help.

My laptop is an Intel Pentium Inside, made by Toshiba.

From what I can tell, my laptop is the only one in the house that seems to have issues with its wireless connectivity. At any given point in time, it will just seem to have issues staying connected, drop the connection for a few moments, and then restore it a few seconds later.

Now, while this doesn't interfere with internet usage very often, this does mean that Instant Messengers and things such as chatrooms are frequently exited out of for me, which has grown to be very annoying.

Every time I move my laptop from one room to another or shut down the computer and start it back up, it drops the connection. Recently, it has even started randomly dropping the connection throughout the day.

I'm at wit's end, and I have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me with this?

This is an area I have less knowledge on than other areas.

Is there a way to optimise my wireless router/connection?

When I'm in games, it drops me out, but I still have internetivity.

I'm baffled, and I'd like to give wireless a good chance, instead of thinking it is useless. I know a couple other people who use wireless, but don't get dropped, but experience ping spikes.

I gather that my dropping out is a result of some ping spiking, but it's not all because of a ping spike, am I correct?

Also:
I put in a DVDROM, to install UT3 and COD4. I had previously done some MS updates and needed to restart after installing COD4. When I restarted the DVDrom was no longer detected. The DVDrom does have power, but it gets cut off, when the Windows Loading screen starts up. Is this a problem I can fix in setup.

Also, my monitor connection worked it's way loose, and I tightened it, is this just a coincidence that I tightened the monitor cable and then the DVDrom no longer worked?

I don't know much at all about networks, so I can't help there, but...

about the DVDROM I believe it is coincidence, but you may wann check once more that all the connections are tight on the DVDROM.

HiI hope someone can help me, this problem has been ongoing since the first day i bought it in 2012 december. the wifi disconnects to a 'limited' state. upon checking the device manager, the wireless adaptor is disabled. so i enable it and it gets back on again but no sooner is it on, it drops again. in 2014 i got dell tech to replace a new wifi card. on the spot, he too see how the new card didnt solve the problem. he nevertheless still left with the problem unsolved.recently the problem got very bad to a point it disconnects almost right away when i connect it back. i googled and found theres tonnes of issue with this wireless n2230. i came across a solution (disabling bluetooth). it worked for a day but the same thing came back after.i have done all sorts. factory reset, disabling and re-enabling, update windows and browsers and everything i can think of, its updated. im currently on win8, i do not know what other info i need to provide. i hope someone can help me im on the verge of smashing it out the window

My first question would be if you have upgraded to Windows 8.1. If not that would be the first thing I would do.

Hey im having some trouble with my wireless adapter. I know that it is not my routers problem since i have my xbox set up into it and i never get any kind of lag on it same if i hook a pc up to it. Problem is my wireless adapter that is new will start out in the 40-50s mbps. But after a few mins of useing my computer it will make a sudden drop down anywhere from 1-18 mbps. I am the only person useing internet in my household and i have a good internet plan with verizon. Usealy the only way to fix this is to pull out my wireless adapter for a few mins than put it back in. If not i have to just do something else for a few hours and it will go back up again. I am getting a decent signal strength so i really do not understand the problem. Also when my mbps drops down very low it will even go so far as not letting me browse the internet at all. It will say i am connected to local and internet like normal yet i wont beable to connect to anything and i will have to restart my connection again.

Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine.

Hi,
I have a Toshiba M45-S359 notebook laptop. About every 20-30 seconds, the wireless connection drops off (and immediately automatically reconnects). This is not a router issue because I tried 2 different routers (Linksys and Netgear) and also the wireless connection is perfectly stable on the other laptop I have. There are no interference issues. My phone operates at a very different (5.8 GHz) frequency. Also, the issue exists even when I have the laptop sitting very close to the router. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, this problem has got to the point to where I am not sure what to do next. I am a pc technician for a living so I never usually have problems I cannot fix on my own,

I have a Dell Studio 1745 Laptop and its only a few years old, I recently upgraded my router to be wireless a year or so ago and have had a few d/c issues here and there but mostly has not been a problem.

Recently I have had tons of d/c issues while playing warcraft or browsing the internet in general, anything really.
So I made the mistake of recently updating my WNR1000V3 router's firmware from my laptop's wireless connection. After I did this I saw all sorts of warnings (none built into the firmware itself, sigh) that this was a big no no.

Since then my d/c issues have been horrible but what it does now is my connection will be completely normal then all of a sudden my wireless access point will switch to 'No Internet Access' and it will drop my internet.

The only way I can get it back is to go into the other room and reset the router by either unplugging it, or pressing the reset button on the back, once it reboots and everything, my laptop sees the connection again, and it has Internet Access fine.
Soo I went and made the problem much worse, the lame part of the situation is before I had this firmware issue I was getting this problem anyways.

My Verizon wireless ( cellular air-card 4G hotspot ) modem / router ( jet pack 890l ) constantly times out or only partially loads pages while browsing the internet. Or I get an error that the "server not found" This had happened ever since I got a new PC with Windows 7. I have reset the modem, reseated the SIM card, checked for new soft ware and firmware (none at this time). I have updated my network adapter driver. Hello, newbie here and seeking help for an odd problem.

Symptoms: Laptop (Asus Eee 1101HA) will connect to wireless, stays on for 30-60 mins and then drops connection for 5-10 minutes and then works again. It still says 'connected' during this time to the wireless but won't work on any browser. Despite this, the iPhone and another laptop continue to work without problems. If you shut it down and restart it then it will work again.

AVG Anti Virus (have tried without firewall and without AVG as well, but problems continue)

I have 2 Dell laptops at home connected to wireless router. One laptop has NO problems whatsoever with wireless connections. The other--Dell Latitude e4300--drops the wireless signal way too many times. I have to repair the connection--sometimes that helps, other times it doesn't, sometimes I have to reboot but still may not get the connection.

Some supplemental information--Several months ago, I changed internet service from Dish Network/Wild Blue to Frontier which bundled Internet, Phone, and TV services together. With Dish, I had a Linksys router. Now I have the router that Frontier came and installed. Ever since, this Dell laptop drops wireless constantly. My other laptop has no problems. I also take this laptop to work and use it wirelessly with NO problems. I've taken it on trips and used wireless with NO problems.

Can anyone help?

I have a home network set up currently running a custom built desktop with RangeMax wireless-N usb adapter and a fairly new Acer Aspire 5517 laptop with built in Broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter. Both are in same room about 20 feet from router. Desktop stays connected without any issues. Laptop goes through periods when it keeps dropping wireless signal. Both machines are running Win 7. Acer hasn't been a whole lot of help on this issue they made a few suggestions which seemed to help temorarily but problem has returned with a vengance, So I turn to my friends here at techspot. I have tried updating and rolling back drivers on laptop, switched id channels in speedstream router, rebooted router. I shouldn't have to keep doing this. What else should I be looking at? Like I said wireless desktop in same room has no problems. I need to test this machine somewhere else to see if its my router but I haven't yet.

I have had the same problem with a Acer Aspire 5920g, we narrowed it down to being a incompatible router. How long exactly can you stay connected for? Does it drop off after 5 minutes and then do you have to reconnect it or it will eventually reconnect itself?
The 5920g we had i personally believe went wrong because of the wireless n capable adapter it had which when we bought it was one of the first out!
One thing that i would recommend to try though, if you have (or can get hold of) a usb network adapter see if you have the same problem connecting your laptop through that. Then we may be able to narrow down if its hardware or software.

We have two identical laptops - purchased two months ago, at the same time at BestBuy. I think its there entry level Satellite laptop L455-S5975. With Vista blah/blah.

We operate both wirelessly - one works great, no problems.
The other one works okay - but drops internet connection frequently.

Any suggestions?

Hi - I have scoured the boards but can't find a solution for this so any help will solve a big problem for me.

My desktop PC keeps dropping its wireless connection to the router. My laptop (and other devices) can connect fine and never drop. It connects fine on start-up and may allow me to browse the web for a while but then drops out and I can't understand what triggers it.

I'm running Vista Home Prem SP1 and use a Netgear Rangemax USB adapter WPN111 to connect. The driver is up to date.

Any suggestions...?

Once again the problem (same as in his thread):

My dad recently started having wireless internet trouble with his Dell Inspiron I6400. He will be connected to the wireless internet in our home and the computer will drop the wireless signal automatically. This happens approx every 2 minutes, but it will not do it on consecutive days or even weeks. This all started about 1.5 months ago, I have checked if his computer did updates around that time, thinking it is a glitch with a windows update, and there were none done during that time. The integrated wireless card is a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card. And we get our internet through Hughes Satellite which is routed through their modem and then plugged into our wireless router, which is a Linksys WRT54G. The wireless signal is controlled on the computer by the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility, which I do not like, but when I uninstalled or disabled it, the wireless on the computer stopped working all together. I have changed the channels on the router, thinking it may be an interference issue, but that did no good. Also there are 3 other laptops in the house that use this same wireless signal, and this one is the only one that has problems with it.

If anybody has any suggestions or ideas to what it may be, please respond. I am an IT major, so please don't hold back on IT jargon.

I have a ASUS F3JR laptop with Intel PROset Wireless.. my laptop originally came with XP and i had no issues with wireless but have recently upgraded to Vista but upgraded all drivers
my router is the DG834Gv3 Netgear Wireless with the latest driver, i always have wired internet even when the wireless has gone down on my laptop.. i can connect back to the wireless if i first disconnect then reconnect on my laptop
any way to stop diconnecting all the frikkin time?

I've been using Frontier on my laptop since the holidays but recently have had trouble with my wireless connection. I can connect automatically but the connection is lost every 10-15 minutes. After a moment the computer reconnects but this prevents me from making any downloads and watching videos. PLEASE HELP!

would you post the following tests when its working OK and then repeat ALL the tests when it disconnects and make sure you also tells which tests posted are for what condition

if you are also connected by wireless include the xirrus screen shots

Please post back here the make and exact model of the router and if separate, the make and exact model of the modem

Also please make a note of the status of the light on the modem and on the router when working normally - post back here and then when disconnected post the status of the lights here again if changed

Ok I have a Dell Latitude D600 with a Intel Pro/wireless lan 2100 mini pci adapter internal on my computer. The router is a linksys wrt54gs v7 router. The laptop will constantly disconnect and reconnect from the router mostly when I am downloading something. Sometimes the network will lock up and disappear completely under View network connections. The problem only occurs at my GF/s apartment. And i know its not poor signal in the walls cause she just moved and have the same problems in the new place. I have the same make and model router at my place and have no problems. I also have no problems when I connect to the wireless network at my school. I also have no problems with the network using my girlfriends laptop . Also my ps3 has no problems connecting wireless to the router either, so i'm pretty sure the problem is not the router but is the laptop but why only having problems with this router is really puzzling me.

I'm at a loss of what to do , i updated the firmware on the router, updated the drivers on my laptop and still no solution. I also changed the router's channel to one that wasn't being used by any other networks in the area.

I have tried a search here, but not found a thread with the same problem as mine. That may well be my fault; I am relatively inexperienced so may be using the wrong search terms. My apologies if that is the case.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running XP with a built in wireless which can be switched on or off with a sliding button at the front. The laptop has not been used for a couple of weeks, and now I find that it will not start up properly as long as the wireless is switched on. If it is on, the laptop constantly restarts then crashes and restarts again, never getting started up properly. If I switch off the wireless, it will start perfectly normally. If I then switch the wireless on after a normal startup, it may take a few seconds or a few minutes, but it will then crash and go back to the restart-crash cycle. There is an error screen which comes up but it is too briefly displayed to read it or get a screenshot. I did a little research and tried a system restore which did not work. I also tried restarting without my wireless keyboard and mouse hooked up. When I did that and switched on the wireless, it stayed up long enough for me to connect to my network (the only time it was up long enough) then reverted to the restart/crash cycle again.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice, please.

The new P70 Docking Station constantly drops and reconnects...something. I can tell by the beeps, so it's annoying. I don't know what it is, but it happens every ten minutes or so. The only thing connected is monitor, mouse, keyboard. Thoughts on how to diagnose?

Ok to make things as clear as possible:

Equipment Used:
I am using a Belkin 802.11g Wireless Router - "54g"

Along with a:

2WIRE Modem provided by Telstra Bigpond (Australia) [Not sure what model] (it's not a modem/router, just a plain modem)

Now I bought the Belkin router and it's an Australian Model as seen here
PROBLEM:
Brief:
The connection from my computer to the internet drops every few mins for a few seconds (About 20-30)

Detailed Life Story:
I had Optus net using a motorola netstream 4200 modem prior on the OptusNet ISP "DSL" network (512/128). After some problems with payment/money issues I upgraded to Telstra Bigpond's ADSL Network (1500/256).

Now supplied with the new modem stated above I installed it normally then attached it to the router once I finished configuring it using the ISP's provided CD.

The Internet was working fine for the first few hours and I didn't notice any dropouts or what ever (Maybe because I wasn't very attentive). A couple days later I started noticing drop outs frequently ie. D/Cing from MSN, Downloads Stopping, Firefox not loading during the drop causing me to refresh, D/C during Counterstrike Games.

Now I thought it was the modem at first so I did the process of elimination and directly connected the modem to my computer (Removed the router from the equation) and BAM no dropouts. The new P70 Docking Station constantly drops peripheral connection with. There is never a reconnection, just constant drop sound.I can tell which by the beeps. And the beeps are annoying. I have an Alienware M14x, Windows 7 and Killer Wireless N1202 Wireless Adapter. My issue is that I'll be on a game server humming along just fine (lets say Minecraft for now) when all of a sudden I notice that I haven't been getting connection for about 7 seconds then. Once its over everythings okay. However, it happens almost once every minute and it lasts for much longer at times resulting in my getting kicked for no response. It doesn't hamper normal browsing but its an obvious pain for gaming. I solved it once before, a while back, but its come back in its original form. I couldn't find the method I used before. All I remember is reading a forum that said to uninstall something from my Device Manager that Windows had added in and once I did it worked beautifully. I think it might have cropped back up in an update or something. But I have tried renewing my IP, turning off power saving on my network adapter, restarting everything, but I can't find that utility to uninstall nor the forum I saw. I could really use some help here...

We have a number of X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (20JG) w/ EM7455 LTE cards. We have updated all drivers on some machines but we continue to have issues w/ the card at time dropping connectivity to LTE and it not returning until a reboot or a disable/enable of the LTE card.When the connectivity hangs you are unable to ping any IP addresses. This occurs randomly but is seen within an hour of waking up from a sleep.  Lastest driver as of July 29, 2019 has helped some but not fixed the problem. We have tested newer firmware version for Verizon but in those cases when the connectivity issues happen the entire card resets itself losing connectivity anyway. We have tested on Windows 10 1803 and 1903 w/ similar results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've always thought so highly of HP and as such, decided to purchase an HP laptop - an HP Envy 15-K233ca Notebook. I have had some issues from the start and one in particular, is making for a rather unpleasant experience. The wifi connection keeps dropping.  It drops when the system is put in sleep mode, when I surf the net and even after a reboot.   I walked through the issue (and a few others) with HP's  help desk this evening and after 2 hours was met with the same problem.  I am now having to reboot the computer and troubleshoot to try and maintain a wifi connection.  This is my first experience with an HP Laptop and I'm disappointed.  It's unfortunate, but I may have to return it.  I'll be walking over to Apple for a replacement.   If someone from HP can resolve this for once and for all, it would be helpful. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to return the unit. Note:  I've noticed that others experience the same issue.  I requested that HP's Help Desk install drivers to resolve the issue.  If this didn't work after our session this evening, then I'm afraid it may be a hardware issue.

Hello, Thank you for taking time to respond.  It appears that the box was already unchecked.  Good idea though as others may have this checked and can hopefully look into this solution.  I asked tech support in India to download drivers that could rectify the issue.  It appears to have worked. Thank you again.Madison.

Good Evening,  I recently purchased a Lenovo Erazer x315 for my girlfriend which worked fine for the first week. Now however the Wi-Fi keeps dropping connection, though it shows it?s still connected and she has to manually disconnect and reconnect to the Wi-Fi. It has disconnected her 4 times in the last hour as I've been trying to google solutions. She did the scan via the diagnostics page on this website and nothing failed. We thought it could be her router taking a dump, but her old laptop has been able to maintain a connection throughout her disconnects. The tower is primarily used for Teamspeak, Archeage, Minecraft, YouTube, FB, and a few artsy programs she has. Don?t know if any of that would affect it. Any help would be appreciated, being that I'm in the military, gaming is our main source of keeping in touch. The constant DC's are kind of aggravating to say the least.

Hi, i have been having some problems with my internet connection in that it drops constantly, as in every 20 - 30 minutes or so. I live in a house where there are three laptops in operation but mine is the only one with this problem. i have tried moving to different areas around the house but this still doesnt help and the problem persists. It is even worse when i am streaming something such as a video or when im on skype sometimes dropping out after 5 minutes.
I thought it might be my computer but it also happens on my phone at the same time as it drops on my laptop.
about a year ago my laptop did overheat which damaged some of the components and that has been a persistent problem also but the last time this happened was about two months ago and this problem with the internet has only been present for about a week!
I am at a loss and have no idea what why it is happening or how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.

My computer is a Toshiba Sattelite o/s win 7. My wi fi signal is excellent, yet my signal keeps dropping or saying limited access. I have tried resetting the router and resetting my default windows settings on the computer. All other lap tops and wireless devices in the house do not have an issue. I discovered the other day as long as the laptop ( not the router) is plugged in and not running on batter power that i do not have a problem staying connected. For fun i wondered if it had something to do with the power cord making some kind of connection when plugged into the lap top, (since everything is more compact in them) I tried having the power cord plugged into the lap top but not into a power source but I still lost signal. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may have some power saving option for the wireless adapter when on battery. If so, try a higher (e.g., maximum performance) setting.

My attachment shows that for the plan I'm using I have 'medium power saving' for the wireless when on battery. If I were having your problem I would change that setting to 'Maximum Performance' and test.

My WiFi connector is Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter.

I am using Windows 10 and when I open the WiFi list, it says I am "Connected, secured" to my WiFi.
I have run Malwarebytes AntiMalware, CCleaner, Adware Cleaner, Malwarebytes JunkWare Removal Tool, MalwareBytes AntiRootkit and Avast Antivirus Free.
No viruses/trojans found.
Could someone help me to see if there is anything hidden or if its something else?

Some people have had success by disabling, not uninstalling the LAN adapter in Device Manager. Windows 10 seems to have an issue when both the LAN and Wifi adapters are enabled. Also set our Wifi adapter to maximum power in the Power Options of Control Panel.

For whatever reason, my signal strength seems to consistently drop, but only when I'm in my basement. I have perfect signal strength when I'm upstairs. Strangely enough there never used to be a problem and it just started out of nowhere. I want my internet speed back, it's frustrating, can someone please help me!?

It depends on where the Wireless Access Point is located, and how many other A/P's are on the same channel(s) as the Access Point. Also if the power is dialed down on the Wifi, that can also cause issues.

My girlfriend and I have a Belkin wireless router connected to our comcast modem. Im wired to the router, she has a Dell Inspiron E1705. Her internet will randomly drop (No loss of wireless connection, just the internet its self.) This is driving both of us insane. Any Ideas??

Well, what makes you think there is no loss of the wireless connection?

Some things you can try here.
Change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

We are three flatmates with our own laptop each, all connected wirelessly to the internet through a Netgear broadband modem / router. The three computers are not networked to each other (although my one flatmate has mentioned that he gets a warning message that my computer is trying to access his whenever I go online -- but that's a different question).

Lately we have all three had problems with Internet Explorer "crashing" -- as if dropping the connection to the internet. The actual connection remains active, but after idling for a while on a website and then clicking on a link to browse further, IE displays "cannot find page". The only solution then seems to be to close all open IE windows and relaunching. This is more of an annoyance than anything else.

Has anyone else come across this or does anyone have any ideas / advice?

Not sure if others have had this issue, but I have been having my wireless drop on me randomly no matter where I am located from my AP. Haven't really found anything that has been setting it off, seems random. All other machines on wireless are keeping their signal, also I've tried 2 different AP's and 2 different routers. This happens on all of them.
Maybe there is some crazy wireless setting I am somehow missing but.

also, using a Dell 1490 wireless its got a broadcom chip

My Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop accesses the internet via a Linksys WRT160Nv2 router. My wireless connection drops out all the time (the hard wired computer never loses its connection ). I believe it happens when a neighbor or neighbor try to access their wireless connection.

I want to configure my laptop and router so that I don't have drop outs.

Here are my basis wireless settings on the router:

I have a brand-new Acer M3800 Desktop, running Vista. 4gb RAM, and a Pentium Dual Core processor.
I have a wireless Linksys card in the computer. Attached to this card, I also have an outdoor Linksys antenna, versus the little rubber antenna that came attached to the card.

My neighbor at my office (literally 80 feet away) has DSL service inbound to his facility. I split the bill with him, and connect to his router and outdoor antenna wirelessly. He has the same set-up on his side on antennas. He has a DSL router hooked to his system, which allows me to connect to DSL.

From antenna to antenna, we are at 80 feet. I have a BLASTING signal from my computer to his. It can't go any higher. I can connect to his router and gain the Internet, but every few minutes I lose my Internet connection. It is very frustrating. Again, I have great wireless signal, so this isn't the issue. It must be some setting within my PC? His desktop on his side, hooked right into his DSL router, never loses Internet connectivity...only mine. What I do to correct the problem, is click on the two little blue computer icons in the lower right of my screen. I disconnect, reconnect, and still nothing. However, if I do this same sequence one more time, I always connect? I am good for about 5-minutes on Internet, then it drops me for some strange reason.
