Unable to start Dolby Audio Drivers error message

Q: Unable to start Dolby Audio Drivers error message

I have been upgrading some Lenovo laptops recently to Windows 10. Mainly Thinkpad E531 and E545. Each time I upgrade one, it reboots saying: Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver. Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists." Restarting the laptop does NOT solve the problem. Reinstalling the driver does NOT solve the problem. Unstalling the Conexant 20671 and drivers via Device Manager does NOT solve the problem. Uninstalling the Dolby drivers does not work, either through Settings>System>Apps and Features or through Control Panel. Nor does reinstalling the driver after that. (Although, to be honest I am not sure i am installing the correct driver as I cannot find one for Windows 10 on the Lenovo site.) I tried searching for Dolby is the C: drive search bar for a Dolby.msi (as per this posting https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/Dolby-advanced-problem-with-E531/td-p/1... ) but couldn't find one in the search results. Whilst it is easy to click OK on the error box, it is annoying when it is day after day after day after day etc etc etc. Can someone please help? This is ridiculous.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

hi Abrahamjoy,
Can you try these steps:
1. Follow this guide on how to disable automatic driver installation.
2. Press the Windows key? +X and choose Device Manager. On the Device Manager, navigate to
 -  Sound, video and game controllers > right click on  Conexant SmartAudio or IDT High Definition Audio >  choose uninstall > and ensure the delete the driver software for this device is checked.
3. Press the Windows key? +X and choose Programs and Features. On the list of apps, uninstall anything that relates to the Conexant/IDT & Dolby then reboot.
4. After the reboot, download and install the driver below (this should install the audio & dolby components)
 - Audio Driver (Conexant) for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Lenovo G410, G510
When finished, you the audio & dolby settings should now work and the errors should not pop-up anymore.

Hi guys, I'm having an (what appears to be quite a common) issue with my sound since installing to Windows 8.1

I have an Acer Aspire V3-571G laptop, and was recently asked to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

Once I did that, a pop-up has come up saying:
Dolby Home Theater
Unable to start the Dolby audio driver. Please restart the computer or
reinstall the driver if the problem persists.

The audio for all my media players now refuse to work, while, say, Youtube appears to work fine.

I've seen a few proposed solutions for this issue (including deleting, uninstalling and reinstalling of certain things), but most appear to be 'Lenovo' laptops. So basically I have a fear of deleting something wrong or doing some irreversible damage to my sound, since it may not be specific to my Acer Aspire.

If anyone could give me a hand with how to solve this, that would be VERY much appreciated, as I am clearly not very tech savvy.

Thanks guys and girls!

Welcome to the forum!

In your programs list you should have Acer Recovery Management. From there select Reinstall Drivers or Applications, then find Audio Codec and select.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I'm having in Vista.

I was trying to navigate to a webpage in Chrome, and then webpages started to refuse to load past a certain point (e.g. the tab would show the page's title, but the tab itself would be entirely blank). When this happened my computer started to freeze for periods of time, after which it would do whatever I had told it to (e.g. I clicked the "x" to close Chrome, which it did after several minutes) for about a second then freeze again.

I decided to restart the PC by holding down the power button. When I turned the PC back on I got the screen saying that one or more of my disks needed to be checked for errors, but I told it to skip the disk check (bad idea, I know, but I was in a terrible mood at the time and wasn't thinking too straight). The computer then froze on that screen, so I restarted it again.

After restarting it the startup repair program ran, as Windows would not start, and took a while checking for errors before asking whether I want to run system restore, which I do. After running system restore it gives me an error message saying:

"The instruction at 0x737e989e referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read."

I then click on "OK" and the computer goes to a screen with six recovery tools on it (Startup Repair, System Restore, Windows Complete PC Restore, Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, Command Prompt and Recovery M... Read more

I nave a inspiron 7720 with dell audio installed. However after recent creators update i have access to dolby for headphones .  i was wondering whether combination of both softwares would damage laptop or earphone speakers?

A:Is it safe to use dolby access windows 10 feature with dell audio drivers? will it affect speakers ?

For best results, I would try to use only one or the other at a time, i.e. disable as much of the Dell Audio processing as possible when using Dolby Access and vice versa.  But even if you didn't do that, it wouldn't be "unsafe" to have both. The main use case for Dolby Access seems to be in order to transmit Atmos audio, though. That can only be sent as a bitstream audio signal on HDMI to an AV receiver that is capable of decoding Atmos, and Dell Audio's processing wouldn't affect a bitstream signal at all.

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update. But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).Is this an update or what? What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. I started my PC today and as soon as Windows booted up I got this message for all my startup item(the only way I can get any programs to run is through Safe Mode).Seems to come up for every .exe file I try to run. I started to see the signs of it last night when some applications and games just outright refused to launch. I tried doing a couple of things: I ran Malwarebytes and did a scan found some infections and got rid of them, ran the System File Checker and restarted the computer afterwards, tried to do a System Restore. None of these things helped, however after the Malwarebytes scan some programs did start briefly but then something kicked in and I was unable to launch them again. System File Checker told me that some files were fixed and some were not. My Antivirus software doesn't pick anything up either. I've attached the CBS.log from System File Checker to this post. I had this problem a long time ago but I forgot how I fixed it that time. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

A:the application was unable to start correctly 0xc0000142 error message

well, one thing, run SFC /scannow again, reboot, and if anything was fixed, do it again. Repeat untill it just says no files could be fixed to make sure sfc has done as much as it can

look thru this thread as well SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Hi, every time we start up the computor we get the messsage unable to open the file D:\ CD Manifest.dat. we have to click cancel to get past it and carry on but we cannot fix the problem can you help???

A:start up error message unable to open the file D:\CD manifest.dat

Something is trying to run a program using pointing to a CD file.

This is usually found in the Registry's RunOnce entries.

Try this:

FIRST: Right-click My Computer, select Manage, expand [+] Event Viewer, look at each log for an error entry and double-click it to see details, use info to fix.
OR: Open Regedit ([Start] menu, Run, type regedit)...
...use File, Export option, to backup your Registry...
...use Edit menu, Find, and enter RunOnce in the search field, [OK]....
...look for an entry in every RunOnce found (you may have to expand [+] the entry) and find the specific entry line that calls the file or a program that may be looking for the file and click it to select....
...delete [Del] just the erroneous entry...
...you should use [F3] to continue search until end, to make sure the entry is not anywhere else.

Any quick help would be greatly appreciated. I was trying to fix some BSOD's and windows update issues on a friend's pc. I thought i was successful until i kept getting "Setup has detected that .NET Framework 4 needs to be repaired. Do not restart your computer until the repair is complete."

After some research, I thought I could resolve the issue with the .net framework cleanup tool. After attempting that, now I get the "Application was unable to start properly (0xc0150004)" error message. The only program I've been able to start has been IE8. This also means I wasn't able to run the BSOD tool you guys provide for posting.

I've tried startup repair more than a couple times. Also tried system restore from the windows recovery environment and it said it was unable to complete. 50% of the time, when trying to get into the recovery environment or just the regular system, I get an "irql_less_or_not_eual" blue screen.

When i originally started working on the pc i cleaned a bunch of viruses off (or so i thought). I have a sneaking suspicion that this issue was caused by a virus with a sneaky backdoor and is masquerading as some .net files.

the system was built by my friend and has: Asus p5ql pro MOBO, Intel core 2 duo, currently 4gigs mem (2x2gb corsair), NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and a WD HD.

I hope I've given some good starting information.

So I'm working with an HP Compaq DC7700 Ultra Slim here, it has a mono onboard speaker. It runs Windows XP Professional 32 bit

I installed a Nvidia GT710 and the drivers for it, I forgot to uncheck the Nvidia audio drivers since i wouldnt be using HDMI and didnt need them anyway. This broke the realtek drivers already in the system.

So after removing everything audio related, and the nvidia drivers, i reinstalled the nvidia drivers without the nvidia audio.
Then went to install the realtek drivers again to get my onboard audio back.
Nothing seems to work, the drivers from HP dont work, the drivers directly from realtek dont work, their newest drivers dont work, a few different driver finder programs dont work, ive got nothing. I dont even get an audio mixer panel, opening it up in the control panel just shows "No Audio hardware"

I know its not a hardware issue, i still get the occasional beep from confirmation boxes and such.

I have no idea what to do about this, any help is appreciated, thank you.

Running Windows 7, AMD processors, Asus motherboard.

I have Pro Tools (an audio production software), i have been troubleshooting my PT system for almost 3 weeks now. The problem lies in the fact that i cannot install both drivers needed to run the usb interface. When i go into the device manager i see my interface comes up with an exclamation point. Unfortunately i cannot manually install the drivers necessary to use my interface because there are 2 drivers needed (audio & midi), but in the device manager there is only 1 slot for a driver. I was on remote share all morning with the manufacture of the interface, their senior tech concluded that there is a problem at the root level of my system that is preventing the driver installation to complete. I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve this problem to no avail (other than hair loss).

Things i have tried :

Creating a new admin account and doing a clean install of the software and drivers.
Disabling driver signature enforcement.
Switching usb cable and usb slots.
Calling windows tech support(what a F***ing joke, $80 to get help!!)
Sitting on Avid (maker of the interface/software ) 's forum for 2 1/2 weeks
Remote share with senior tech from Avid for 3 hrs

Any suggestions? The only thing i have not tried yet that i can think of is a reinstall of the OS.

Thanks for your help in advance, i will be in your debt if you can help solve this problem!

A:Unable to install drivers for Audio Interface

About all that I can recommend is a fresh install of the OS. Personally, I would have tried that first. Install the OS, manually install the motherboard drivers, and then install/test PT system.

A:Unable to run system restore, help and support or several audio drivers

Go to Start/Run and type CMD, in the Command Prompt type chkdsk /P/R and hit enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will again run at next boot up and try and fix any errors. If this fails, after booting up, go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and hit enter, put in the XP CD in and it will take any missing files it needs from the CD.

Hello guys, I have been searching around about this but they always end up with a headphones that has built-in Dolby Audio. I just bought a USB Headphones and when I use it, the Dolby software always disabled. If I plug in a headset/earphone base on 3.5mm jack the software work again. Does Dolby Audio software only run on a specific hardware? anyway my laptop has built-in Dolby Advanced Audio v2 and the sound card was Conexant SmartAudio.

Along with this, there is a little more question. The headphones I bought (Dragon War Beast) is a 5.1 channel sound (said on the box & the website). But I honestly confused if it was real or not cuz in Windows Audio it only show stereo channel on Speaker Setup as well as the manual said USB 2.1 Stereo Vibrating Headset (different from the box). Is there a way I can test if its a stereo or 5.1 sound?
Thanks in advance. Any help is always apreciated, and of course sorry for my bad english

A:How can I use Dolby Audio with USB Headphones

When you use USB headsets, you bypass the PC's sound card (and add on's such as the Dolby). The USB headset has the "sound card" (conversion from digital to analog) built in.

The 5.1 is a function of the USB headset and again does use the PC sound. If the source, such as a game, is 5.1 then you will get the 5.1 (simulated) sound. Unless there are multiple speakers in the headset I don't see how it can get "real" 5.1 sound. Its like my LCD HD TV, it has two stereo speakers but simulates surround sound.

Hi, There isn't an audio driver listed for your notebook under Windows 10 - have you tried using the Windows 8.1 IDT driver on the following link? http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59802.exe Regards, DP-K

Lenovo T Sereis Community I have a (new) Lenovo T460, running Windows 10 (version 1607) and the Doilby Audio keeps turning off.  That is as I open or close new web pages of changes items with sound, ever time I switch something or run another application the Dolby Audio gets turned off.  Its easy enough to turn it back on , but itsort of a hassel.  Any suggestions.  I' ve checked my Lenovo dirvers and I've run (1) Hardware and Devices and(2) Playing Audio troubleshooting

At Lenovo's suggestion I reformatted my hard drive and installed a clean version of Windows 10 (V 1709) and have lost the Dolby drivers.  I checked the systems ?Drivers & Software? site and there is only the original Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad X260, T460 drivers;and to pay $60 (plus) for Lenovo software support to tell me where the drivers are located seems a bit ridiculous.  Given the harddrive was reformatted I no longer have the original Drivers directory.  Although I have the factory reset USB drive, but really don't want to go back to the original windows.  I would think the drives are somewhere within Lenovo?s web site.

Hello,I've got problem with Dolby Audio on Lenovo Ideapad Y700-17ISK Win10 x64 Pro. Dolby Audio works fine with speakers and headsets connected via microJack, but does not work with my bluetooth headset (Bluedio Hurricane Turbine T2+). When I connect these via bluetooth, Dolby Audio shows "Please connect speakers or headset to turn on Dolby Audio". How can i solve that problem?

I upgraded today to 8.1 and now when I start my computer I get a message box telling me <re-install Dolby advanced audio driver> I found the Dolby program in my control panel, programs and features, and there is no un-installer or, seemingly a way to re-install the driver. I don't want this box popping up at every boot, what do I do?

I don't have Dolby specific setup, but you might want to check your device manager directly to see if a driver for Dolby appears under the expanded menu as shown below. If so, you can select "update driver" and have it automatically search Window Update or use the latest driver (if you have it handy). I would personally prefer the latter option if available. Good luck.
