I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad N581 in 2012 in Germany, which I'm planning to sell now. Therefore I'd like to figure out what (apart from the actual device) was originally included in the package (software CDs, any accessories, etc.), as I don't remember it and don't want to forget anything when selling it. Anybody knowing/remembering what was part of the package when it was sold in Germany in 2012? Thank you, Torsten

Over the past week, my laptop and peripherals have been giving me shocks when it's running. While they don't seem to affect programs, every time they happen, my monitor will black out for a second, and a popping sound can be heard through the speakers or headphones. Usually these shocks come when plugging things in, but also when I change the volume on my external speakers. My initial thought was the speakers, but it also happens with headphones. Can't really find much online about this kind of issue, so any help would be appreciated!

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Ideapad IdeaPad 100 14ibd - win10 and basically im planning on formatting my laptop to get rid of all the stuff/unknown files that are terribly slowing down my ram. But im still new to this process so im wondering if using Lenovo's Onekey recovery is a good thing but then i saw the Reset this PC feature of windows is another thing. My question is, what would be the more recommended thing i should do to get my laptop to its original state just like the new windows 10, or are there any difference within those  two?PS: I got my back up files all set from this laptop to my external hd already Thank you!

Hello everyone, in 2013 I purchased the Lenovo Ideapad N581 and I am running the newest version of Windows 10 with an SSD. The speed is incredible and I want to keep this laptop for as long as possible.  But with the recent meltdown and spectre debacle, I don't know if I am safe. I heard that I have to update the Bios, but there is no support for Win10. What do I have to do to protect myself? Do I have to buya new laptop? Is an update of windows really enough?

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

If you mean the factory recovery files try Lenovo for a recovery disc set if available. If you mean for the OS alone just download the MEDIA CREATION TOOL from microsoft which you will use to download the OS installer. As to drivers go to the download site for your unit to download them.

I am having issues with onekey recovery because I am trying to factory reset my laptop. I have used it before without issues, but I believe it may have happened after I tried out Windows 10 but then reverted back to Windows 7. If I try to use OneKey recovery through the program, when I select the option to reformat, it just restarts my computer normally. If I try to use the onekey recovery key on the keyboard, it just turns on my computer normally. Any solutions to this issue?

So, long story short. I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and now it seems like the only thing that will get my laptop up and running normally again is a recovery disc from Lenovo. I just got off the phone with customer service and they informed me that recovery discs can not be ordered in USB form.  This is where my main issue is. My Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop did not come with a CD-ROM Drive. With that being said, I do not want to spend $69 on a recovery disc that will require me to purchase an external CD-ROM drive that potentially won't even work... When I asked customer support if I could return and get a refund for the disc if it will not boot through an external CD-ROM drive, they said no. Has anyone been able to run a recovery disc from an external cd-rom drive successfully? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this thing...

Hi everyone,Just now I tried out having a BIOS password on boot up, making a new password and tried it out for the first time. And it works, after awhile I decided to do a reboot, the BIOS says I have key a wrong password. Could anyone know what is going on with my laptop? Now my laptop is unusable due to the BIOS boot up password required......anyone has a solution for this?

A:Lenovo ideapad U41-70 BIOS LOCKED

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the problem you have encountered.  If the password had previously work then make sure you are typing it in correctly.  Passwords are case sensitive and you may have used UPPER and lower case letters in your password creation.  Double check your Caps Lock key as well to see that it is set correctly.

You can also try a static discharge just to insure the issue isn't a keyboard problem.  To do a static discharge, just do this...
1. Shut down Windows and unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. (If removable)3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If that doesn't resolve the issue then there isn't much else you can do.  Since laptops are frequently stolen, there is no master password, hardware jumper or back door that can be used to clear a BIOS passworded laptop.  This is by design and the solution is to replace the motherboard of the system.

I?m sorry to inform you that after updating the BIOS it overwrites the current version with the new version and is not reversible unless you had made a backup of the previous version, as an alternative I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance.

Goodevening, goodafternoon or goodmorning, whatever it implies for you.Today i would like to share some information on recovering bios after bios update failure or bad bios. Please follow the following steps.Disclaimer:- This would work for laptops with signs of life but may work for dead laptops.Download pheonix crisis tool and the respective bios files first. Now extract the zip file to the desired locationRun the bios .exe application where it will extract the main bios file. Go there and rename the bios file For.ex 30cn71ww.wph from that folder to bios.wph.Copy the Renamed bios file to the folder where you extracted the pheonix crisi tool.( extract it with wincrisis.exe file).Plug the usb stick ( not more than 4 gb or about 2-4 gb )Run wincris.exe > start > ok > ok > noNow plug the usb in the affected laptop and remove any power source such as battery and ac adapter.Hold Fn+R or Fn+f or Fn+B or Win+B key and then plug in adapter. Just after Plugging in the ac adapter, Press the power button .After this you will see the usb light blinking and hear the the fan running(yippe!!)You will then hear beep sound indicating that the bios is bieng reflashed. Leave the computer for about 5-10 Minutes. It will automatically restart. If it doesnt then restart the laptop manually. If everything went well then yippe your laptop is back and the bios recoverd with flying colours. This has been tested with the Lenovo Ideapad Y560 and it was suucesful!!!Hop... Hello Please help. Lenovo IdeaPad p580 - Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit edition. Today my system hung. So I waited for it to get normal but it did not for 15 minutes or so. Then forced shutdown it. Restarted and it stayed jammed for 30 mins or more on Starting Windows screen. After that tried Safe Mode with Networking (Displayed cursor only and did not display anything else for very long time), SafeMode with Command prompt (did not move after CLASSPNP.SYS file), tried using recovery disk it gave me first screen to select language and country then on second screen gave Startup Recovery/Repair thing but did not allow to do anything as cursor kept in spinning mode. Waited for more than one hour. After that tried to use ONEKEY Recovery and before that backed up my data via portable linux drive which I alway keep handy. OneKey Recovery failed (Note- I have not resized or deleted or tempered that partition so there is no chance for it to fail). Turned off the system clicked on OneKey Recovery and it gave me a screen with a wallpaper and cursor only. Did not give anything else. Tried getting an ISO from microsoft but they said my key is an OEM so contact the manufacturer. Here on Lenovo website they say my product is out of warranty. A:Lenovo Ideapad G510 onekey recovery damaged

Hi avraham123 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This is the main guideline  (click highlighted link for full article) regarding corrupted partition.

If the Hidden Partition is destroyed:
If the hidden partition is destroyed or replaced hard drive, you won't be able to restore the system through Lenovo OneKey Recovery software. You need to utilize the Recovery DVD, read more from below related articles:How to recover the system to Factory settings with Recovery DiscsHow can I get a system recovery CD, DVD or USB from Lenovo
Note:
If you accidentally uninstall OneKey Recovery, you may go to D drive. Find the folder named as Drivers. Open it to find out OneKey_Recovery folder --> find setup.exe. Click on it and follow the on-screen instructions. OneKey Recovery will be reinstalled.
If you are unable to reinstall OneKey Recovery, you are recommended to contact local service provider or read How can I get a system recovery CD, DVD or USB from Lenovo for more information to get recovery media

As discussed here are suggested steps that you can also try if repair failed .
1) Make sure that recovery partition is there or not. As I said, go to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Disk Management and check.
2) Second, When the laptop is shutdown, try pressing the NOVO button and see if the laptop starts in the recovery mode.
3) You can try to restore the laptop from you... Read more
