Preferred Solution: Order for recovery disk

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I'm actually having an issue with the HP Support website, not really my HP product itself. I'm trying to order a Windows 7 64-bit recovery kit for my Pavilion DV7 notebook. I completed the order form and entered the model number and serial number for my notebook, but after I submit my payment information for the order, I'm receiving an error message that says "Payment form contains invalid entry". I've tried submitting this form several times today and keep receiving the same error. The warranty for my product expired back in 2012- could this be the reason that I'm unable to order the recovery kit? Sorry if this is the incorrect forum to post this question- I wasn't sure how else to contact technical support about this.

I recently restored my system to restore point set prior to a failed upgrade to W10 . The restore was "successful" but then... When I boot up, I get normal login but when I enter my password system tells me it is setting up my desktop??  Then it stalls in never never land. When I  boot in safe mode I get my normal desktop but not much works including networking. Most anything I try yields an explorer  error message that the file or resource cannot be found, etc.  Curiously I can open any PDF file with Acrobat and I can even browse and load  other PDF files on the hard disk from within acrobat. I ran boot log and in fact most of the the drivers other than sysroot... did not load. I tried all of the repair options provided by HP and microsoft without success.  So I decided to restore using a set of disks I dutifully prepared when I recently moved my system.  Unfortunately the restore from disk option cannot find the boot file on disk #1.  When I put the disk in another machine I see a normal set of foders including one named "Boot"??I REALLY want to get my system back to what I had when I exeuted  the restore to restore point!

I have purchased my laptop a year ago, less then a month after the warranty expired my device stopped charging, the only solution the lab could offer (official hp lab in Israel) was to replace the motherboard (it cost me about 170$... just a few weeks after warranty expired!!!). When I received my laptop from the lab it kept crushing (once a day) because of bed drivers installation- so I sent it back again. I was told that the only thing that can be done is to try to reinstall the OS from the recovery partition. Apparently, during the installation of the motherboard this partition had been corrupted. I later found out that there is a warning on the hp website that this could happen if one dosen't install the drivers from hp site but do it using the motherboard manufacturer's site. The technician told me I have to order a recovery kit because I bought the computer in the U.S so they don't keep a compatible os in the lab in Israel. So, I tried to order a recovery kit to my address in the U.S, but I got the following notification: "Sorry, we are unable to provide any additional physical media for the product with this serial number. The limit of physical media that can be ordered has been reached for this serial number; please consider the downloadable options from the list of available software & drivers." I have never ordered a recovery kit for this computer (or any other for that matter) so I don't understand what could be&...  I looked at: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-p6000-Desktop-PC-series/3999459/model/40... which lists all the available downloads for your model of computer. While some HP computers give instructions on how to order a "System Recovery Set",I did not see those instructions for your model. So, my suggestion is to download Windows 10, via: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10and install it on your computer.  When installing, do not enter a product-key.  Thus, you have a limited-time "trial" version. If it works, and Windows 10 contains all the device-drivers for your computer, then you can purchase a product-key.If not, then find a friend with a "retail" copy of Windows 7. Borrow it, and use the product-key listed on the decal on the side of your computer, and install Windows 7.  Then, go to the above HP web-site, and download all the HP-specific device-drivers.

Greetings,

I built my rig a couple of months ago. I was going to clean one of my HDDs (I have Vista installed on that drive now, Seven is the only OS I want on here now) and noticed this.

How do I get the Seven drive to be #1 and change the Vista drive to #2 and the external HDD to #3? Or do I need to worry about that?

Thanks all.

A:Disk #s Out of Order?

I believe you would have to physically change the cables around inside your case. The disk number is decided by the BIOS depending on what SATA connector its connected too. Your OS might not boot up if you change it though. Even if you change the boot order in BIOS to match the moved disk it still might fail. If the drive letter changes as a result it will break all your installed programs etc as the registry will still be pointing to the old drive letter. If you want to try it, try it in steps. If you don't have your data backed up I'd do that first.

EDIT: Looked at it again after I posted and saw that your programs are on a Partition on Disk (0). Unplugging the Vista drive may break things in windows 7 so most of what I posted below likely won't work. Your best option is probably to back up your Data to external media and start over with a clean install and the disks connected the way you want them to show up.

Unplug the Vista drive (Drive 0) and leave Drive 1 where it is. Then see if windows 7 still loads. If it still works then you can format or do what ever you want to the Vista drive without messing up your windows 7 install. Then connect the windows 7 Drive to SATA 0, change your BIOS boot order to match and see what happens. If it doesn't work you should be able to swap it back to the original setup and boot up OK. If it was me I'd just wait till my next clean install and move things around then.

We had a crash on one of our machines where we lost some data. To recover I pulled out the 5 disks (4 virtual drives) and sent them away. Job done, data recovered.

Problem is that I didnt mark the disks before I pulled them out so dont know what order to put them back in. Is there a way to find out?

Machine is a Compaq ML140 with 5 slots top to bottom.

Is the "primary slot" the top or the bottom? As it's raid should I be able to boot with just 1 disk in?

Thanks guys....

Subject Pavilion Elite HPE-450t,   Model XM556AV. S/N 2MD04414TGi need a set of recovery disks for this desktop.   I believe the software had been damaged by a rootkit bug (Thanks Kids).Malwarebytes has helped but the PC does not update at all.  I suspect the damage prevents any diagnostic repairs, so I'm assuming a recovery is needed.  I tried the steps in HP support but the software never gives me the option of (System Recovery).  I see 2 options (1) try disk recovery; or (2) replace the hard drive completely with a formatted new hard disk. Please help me with both option. Leon R.

LROSZKOW Unfortunately, there is no HP Recovery Media linked to the HP Product Page for your PC. This could be an oversight by HP, or it could also mean that HP no longer stocks the recovery media for your PC. They no long stock recovery media for the older PCs.You can try contacting HP Customer Support directly, using the links below, to see if you can order if from them: HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-...
