Administrator approval problem in windows 10

Q: Administrator approval problem in windows 10

I have no rights to install or uninstall any programme cause my Microsoft account is no longer an administrator account in my laptop.Previously I signed in with my Microsoft account as an administrator & I also had an local account. Now both of my accounts have become local accounts.I can't even go to any settings.I tried to fix it from control panel>user accounts. But here all the options need administrator's approval.Every way I tried this messege is showed.

This messeage says-to continue type an administrator password, and then click yes.

But the "yes" box is invalied.

I can't even go to command promt.

How can I solve it?

In case needed: my laptop is Hp probook 430g1.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This just makes me crazy, there is NO ONE ELSE BUT ME so if I'm not the administrator who the heck is?Constantly when I'm trying to do some stuff then I get dead-ended with the "you don't have administrator approval". My account is set up as administrator so can somebody tell me why and how to fix please???Thank you.

Hi Guys,<o:p></o:p>
Good Evening !!<o:p></o:p>
Here is the thing on which I need ideas and help from you guys.<o:p></o:p>
Presently we are in that phase where we are migrating all the machines from Windows 7 to Windows 10.<o:p></o:p>
For this we are using windows 10 dashboard to approve the assets which are ready to migrate from 7 to 10 and presently we are doing it manually by going to dashboard
site and then we have few options to enter the asset tag and then edit it and check the approved option and update so that the asset will be ready for the migration.<o:p></o:p>
And now comes my requirement.<o:p></o:p>
I want to automate this process using power-shell script every time when we get some request to approve one asset i want to write a script so that it will reduce the
manual intervention and also reduce the time to approve the assets.

<o:p style="">I already wrote two line script like example by using invoke-webrequest
command we can access the dashboard. from their on wards i am unable to move further like how to define new objects and all. </o:p>
Please do help me in this how to proceed or any ideas how to do this to approach our  requirement.<o:p></o:p>
Thanks in Advance :) <o:p></o:p>

to spend money for anti spyware and malware program. We run NAV enterprise edition on the server, and all clients receive their updates through it. I know Symantec has a new AV which also incorporates anti spyware. I think it's ver 10.x or 11. Not sure.

Right now we're running ver 8.x of NAV.

The last time I spoke with a tech about it, he recommended that I sit back a while and not install it, due to some bugs within the program.

What is a good Spyware detection and prevention program I should consider using on the clients?

Hi- Newbie here, and of course I have a problem.

I tend to put my laptop in standby mode overnight, but once a week or so I do a full shut-down. I did one of those last night, and when I started things up this morning, I immediately noticed that my wallpaper was changed to the default one for XP, and all the files I had on my desktop were gone (applications remained however). I got a welcome screen like I had just done a new install.

Same sort of thing happened for both Firefox and IE (I use both). Both are acting like fresh installs and, most importantly, all my favorites are gone.

I've just scanned with both Malwarebytes and MSE - both came back with nothing found.

Just to add a datapoint - here's what I'm running...
Windows XP Service Pack 3 x86 NTFS
Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702

Any idea what happened here? Any idea how to get my favorites back? Of course, it's been awhile since I've backed up.

Appreciate any input.

I am seeing this but you may want to do a more extensive

May also want to try system restore first in case it is a registry error.

I mainly want it for casual use, photoshopping, video editing and some gaming maybe. I tried to research everything before choosing but a lot of it is still over my head. Example, the Vishera, Haswell, Zambebi stuff on the CPUs. It isn't the brand, what is it and how do I know which is better?

Anyway, here is what I have. Feel free to tell me I have no idea what I'm doing. 😃

A:administrator log in problem in windows 8.1

Hi wishal,
You may face this issue due to changes in Windows permission either by virus or some third party antivirus. Follow these methods and check:
Method 1: You can try turning off the User Account Control, follow the steps below:

1. Open User Accounts by pressing Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety and then clicking User Accounts.
2. Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn off UAC, and then click OK.

Disclaimer: User Account Control (UAC) can help you prevent unauthorized changes to your computer. It works by prompting you for permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings that affect other users. We don't recommend turning User Account Control off. If you do turn it off, you should turn it back on as soon as possible.

Method 2: Due to Windows 8 added security mechanism, you could be facing this permission issue. Hence if you need to access, take ownership of the drive and assign rights or permission to the drive.

Here is guide on How to take ownership and grant permission in Window 8.
"Access Denied" or other errors when accessing or working with files and folders in Window

I have one account on my PC mine, which is an Administrator account.
I guess it was last month I noticed something strange, an Adobe update was available and normally it downloads and installs but this time it didn't, sorry can't remember the error, but something to the effect of no permission.
So now I always download the update and run as administrator and it works fine. Just tried that and really never thought much about it except figured adobe changed something (they did not)
Now the other day I tried running another program which I use for Billing and it wouldn't start, so after playing with it, I set compatibility to xp and it ran. hmmmm. I then tried right click run as administrator and it runs fine. I tried the program on another pc runs fine without right click run as admin.
It would seem that some key or some registry entry is messed up so that even though my Account says I am an Administrator my pc thinks I am not.
Can someone perhaps lead me to being able to edit the registry so that I can go back to being error free?
I have tried using the hidden admin account and the programs run fine so that is why I believe it is registry related.
I am quite computer literate so I don't nee kid gloves :^) however this one has me stumped.

A few days ago I noticed a problem in my windows 7 computer. I wanted to download something from my browser and I got the following message, "You don't have the permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission."
However, I can download it by running the browser as administrator.
On spending some hours in finding and trying the solution, all the methods failed. I also tried the following method which was the most popular.
I went to the drive properties and in that, I went to security tab and then denied and allowed the permissions for administrator and users. I get the message that said that an error occurred while applying security information to some folder. It did not work.
However, I noticed something. In the control panel under user account and also in the start menu I could see my username and 'administrator' beneath the name. But when I went to the drive properties and then to security, I found a different name beside Administrators.
To see if it was some problem, I checked this in my laptop and found the username were same in both the places in my laptop except that the letters were in caps in the security tab in properties.
I have also posted the screenshots.
I think this is the problem.

Your whole post talks about Administrator this and Administrators that, but in actual fact, the permissions the Administrators group has on this D drive of yours is the least relevant piece of information you can possibly provide.

Here's a hint, to avoid the message, "You don't have the permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission.", focus on giving access to the Users group.

Hi All.

I frequently run processes on my pc that go all night. I also often go away from the office for a few days and then need to access the pc (which was left on) remotely to work.

My problem is that when windows finds an update, it just installs it and restarts when it wants to... which can be right in the middle of an important automation.

I also sometimes find that I can't access the pc remotely because it has somehow switched itself off, I'm assuming after an update (sleep is set to 'never').

How can I get Win 7 to download, and tell me about an update, then wait until I say "install"?

All help will be hugely appreciated.

What is the function of Admin approval mode (AAM) and UAC? Is there a link between UAC and AAM? Are they interrelated?
When we turn OFF the AAM, UAC also gets OFF Automatically. Is this an intended behavior?

A:Difference Between UAC and Admin Approval mode

It's actually written in the explain tab of the policies. But in short, yes it's by design that UAC will get turned off if you disable Admin Approval Mode.
User Account Control: Turn on Admin Approval Mode
This policy setting controls the behavior of all User Account Control (UAC) policy settings for the computer. If you change this policy setting, you must restart your computer.
The options are:
• Enabled: (Default) Admin Approval Mode is enabled. This policy must be enabled and related UAC policy settings must also be set appropriately to allow the built-in Administrator account and all other users who are members of the Administrators group
to run in Admin Approval Mode.
• Disabled: Admin Approval Mode and all related UAC policy settings are disabled. Note: If this policy setting is disabled, the Security Center notifies you that the overall security of the operating system has been reduced.
User Account Control: Use Admin Approval Mode for the built-in Administrator account
This policy setting controls the behavior of Admin Approval Mode for the built-in Administrator account.
The options are:
• Enabled: The built-in Administrator account uses Admin Approval Mode. By default, any operation that requires elevation of privilege will prompt the user to approve the operation.
• Disabled: (Default) The built-in Administrator account runs all applications with full administrative privilege.

Hi all,
I just installed windows 8.1 and have annoying problem. I have my account ''Antonio'' and also I can see Administrator account when switch users. Anyway, I need to type password (which I didnt set up) every time when I do something-even deleting shortcut icons. I tried to change account type from Antonio account- nothing happens. I set administrator right but nothing. Now it is asking me for password but when I click ok nothing happens. I tried to do the same thing from Administrator- there is no Antonio user only Administrator and Guests (off).
I tried via hard disk- right clik, security then set permissions but nothing.

Second problem- its asking me to enter password for Antonio account when switching users even if I manage to turn that off in Control panel power options and done that famous NETPLWIZ thing...

Why they made this such complicated anyway??? Never had problem in windows 7.

Hello, I need your help on administrative account.

Well, I bought a new Laptop. It came with Windows 8 activated. I created an account named 'Waleed'. It is the only account and it is an administrator account but still I am facing few problems in using Windows 8. Firstly, I couldn't save anything in my 2 other partitions I made. It gave me some permission errors but I solved it through changing drive security options.

But I still don't think I have all administrative power from this account. I can save in my "E" and "D" drive because of some security settings I changed myself but still I can't save in "C" drive.

This is Administrator account thing, net user administrator /activen and this will give me an administrator account but then how do I change name of that account to something else? Is it full admin account that I want?

Thank You!

A:Windows 8 Administrator account problem

Hello Waleed, and welcome to Eight Forums.

By default, Windows will not let you save anything directly into a system folder from an external source for security purposes. You would have to save it into one of your user folders (ex: desktop), then you will be able to move or copy it into a system folder.

I sadly report that after submitting the log ... I message was displayed about security software not being functional. So I tried to launch TrendMocro. It wouldn't fully load and then I ot a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error message which said Runtime Error! Program: C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~1\PcCtlCom.exe. Once I click the x on this window another comes up which says follows which speaks about the PcCtlCom module encountering a problem - send error report. These 2 windows are re-occurring and won't go away. During the first round I got to a window which said "Error Report Contents -

What a bummer!

Any thoughts? I still have network connectivity.

Hi guys, I hope you can help me here.

I loaned my laptop to a friend as i was going on holiday and he's mannged to screw it up big time.

He messed up the profile and changed some stuff around that didn't want to revert back to default. My problem is that he created a new account for me and deleted my original one. Here is the problem. My new account doesn't have Admin priv. I have tried fixing this by attempting to login as the Admin but this doesn't seem to work. I assumed the Admin password would be the same as my original ccount since it didn't ask for a password when i installed the OS (Windows 7 Ultimate).

Now I can installed and software or make any changes to the OS.

Can anyone suggest how I can sort this out without having to reinstall the OS? It tooks me ages to get it the way I wanted. And please don't mention that I should have created an account for him before giving him the laptop.

A:Windows 7 Administrator Account login problem

As the saying goes live and learn. Did you go to All Programs and make the Install DVD's
so you can restore your computer back to like factory condition when you bought it ?
You say:
( I assumed the Admin password would be the same as my original account since it didn't ask for a password when i installed the OS (Windows 7 Ultimate).
I don't understand what your saying here.

If you don't know the password for the Adminstrator and your friend doesn't remember it
than you can't get into that account. You can get around Windows XP password but
I've never found a way to get around windows 7 password.
That being said.
That information is not allowed to be given out on this forum.

I just read the small start up guide and it highly recommends not doing this as you are putting your computer at a major security risk. I do use some file sharing programs like WinMX and I understand if I don't use the Administrator setting, I can't use the program. I guess I would prefer security over being able to use the WinMX program but I guess I can't have both.

Can anyone tell me if I should be quickly setting up the Power user settings and stop using Administrator and why there is so much risk, the manual doesn't get specific.

I suspect that is why we are getting hacked into so often!

A:What is the problem in using Windows 2000 Administrator setting all the time?

The issue is that if you are hacked, the priviledge level of the current user is usually all the hacker gets. Therefore, it is recommended that you use a basic user account as often as possible. If you need to launch a program with admin rights, then use the SU feature (switch user) to launch that program with the admin account. It is also recommended that you rename the admin account and then create a new administrator account that has no rights. That way if a hacker finds the user accounts and passwords, they will naturally try the administrator account first. Hope this helps straighten out the issue.

Hello all, I have two MSO2003 problems..

Problem 1:

Win7 HP.. when I start Outlook 03, a popup asks

Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer:

File: Outlook.exe
Publisher: MS
File origin: hard drive on this computer

This has been happening for a while.. I dont remember when it started, but it seems it began when the reading pane thing below started..

Problem 2:

The reading pane will -not- stay on the bottom of the sceen when Outlook starts up.. I change it time and again from side pane to bottom pane and it just doesnt stay bottom when Outlook is restarted..

Any ideas? No viruses, or malware/spyware on the machine.. MSE updates/runs full scan every night.

Thanks, TJ

A:Outlook needs approval to start then wont keep reading pane on bottom

When should I allow programs to make changes to my computer?

I'll take a look at your other problem and see if I can find anything relevant.

Before I explain my problem, I'd like to say that this seems to be a registry problem.
I tried installing Taksi three days ago and got this message

"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."
and it didn't really bother me, checking out different software is a hobby of mine, it's not like I actually I needed it. I thought it was the developer's fault. But anyways, now I realize can't install anything that is packaged as an msi. I'm an administrator on my computer, but not the root, sadly. (I received the computer as a gift from someone who had no use for the computer and had forgotten their password.) First, I installed Windows Installer 3.1 over my current installation to no avail. After awhile, I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q227181

When I go to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\ folder, the 'Installer' folder is nowhere to be found, all I see is the 'SystemCertificates' folder, and there's nothing pertaining to Windows Installer, or anything, in the folders below it.. Something weird happened when I rebooted after I installed 83 long-overdue updates. And it is probably responsible for all this. I'm willing to author new Registry data if someone could show me what their working installation looks like.

A:Solved: Windows Installer problem The system administrator has set policies to prevent...

If you are an administrator, you can access the other administrators' accounts and change their passwords, or even delete the accounts.

If you are an administrator, you can give yourself permission to install programs.

There is no "root". All administrators are created equal, except domain administrators; they are superior beings.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 running Windows Vista Ultimate.
My problem is that when I Log In to the Administrator Mode I start seeing many errors pop up.
List of errors:
&#8220;Catalyst Contol Centre: Host application has stopped working&#8221;
&#8220;Input Personalization Server has stopped working.&#8221;
&#8220;Unable to create Temporary folder. Error5-Access is denied.&#8221;
Windows Explorer doesn&#8217;t work
In addition to this I can&#8217;t get into some applications and they sometimes get errors. I can however get into Internet Exployer but not Firefox. The strange thing is that when I Switch Users and Log into the non administator mode everything works fine. I realized all this was happening when I was trouble shooting a bug in the Adobe software with Adobe technical support. I turns out I can&#8217;t fix the Adobe problem until I fix this or so they say.

Windows 8.1 Administrator Account says Administrator but..

My laptop is working fine and perhaps I should leave well enough alone.
The issue came up I guess when I wanted to use the Metro Apps, I seldom do. I was getting an error, the infamous: abcde App cannot be opened using the Administrator account.
Note: Using Windows 8.1 Home Edition not Pro-cannot use secpol or gpedit and registry tweaks on LUA, Token and one other entry did not help.

Perhaps I am using the built in Administrator account, Not sure.

I do not want to create another Admin account and lose all my hard work, settings, icons in this profile , etc. I mainly 99.99% of the time use Desktop view (I use Start 8 - which is like Classic Shell to give that Windows 7 look and boots into Desktop view-no lectures please).

1. If I log in using the local acct, then I am okay and Metro apps will work

2. I was hoping for the best of both worlds and not have to log out of one into the other.
I attached a few screen shots where it says "Administrator" as the account name under my email address BUT in "properties" it says " Standard user" - and I cannot change such: grayed out.

Perhaps it does not matter as everything but metro apps under this account work perfectly.

Sorry-Long winded but I am tired.

A:Windows 8.1 Administrator Account says Administrator but..

Hello Peter,

If you are signed in to the built-in elevated "Administrator" account, then that would be why since modern apps do not work when either the user account or explorer is elevated.

As a test, sign out, and make sure that you are signed in to your "Peter" account to see how it your modern apps work.

Uninstall it. Reinstall it normally from the users desktop. Although that should not have any affect on it.

When I set the power option on my pc to have the monitor turn off after so many minutes it does not work. What I mean is that the monitor goes black for one second then comes back on. This problem just started a few days ago. I posted a thread on another forum and someone suggested I run msconfig and inspect the startup tab to see if there was something in there that might be causing the problem. I saw three things in there that I had uninstalled ... nero, incd, and sagetv. I cleared the checkboxes for those three then clicked okay. That is when things started going really bad. I immediately got an error message saying that I may need administrator privelages to make the changes. I am the admin on this computer, I have been since I installed XP. When I clicked okay on that box I was prompted to restart the computer which I did. When it rebooted I then got a message that said major hardware changes had taken place since the last time XP was started and that I had to reactivate XP. No hardware changes were made at all so this totally baffles me. I still can't make changes in msconfig and I am being reminded about every 5 minutes that I need to reactivate XP. I know this was a long winded post but I wanted to be sure and get as much info in there as I could. If you have any suggestions or questions I would love to hear them.

Hi all, I'm new on the forums. Best Windows 7 forums btw, have helped me a lot.

So I'm having two different or same kind of problems. I really need help to solve these!

? Problem number one:I'm having a strange freezing problem. Sometimes randomly my desktop freezes. I can't right-click any icons, remove icons or do anything for them. To solve this problem every time I need to reboot or log off and log in again. Then Sometimes my explorer.exe -process dies randomly and same kind of problem appears. Any fixes?
? Problem number two:I'm the system administrator, but sometimes randomly I don't have an access to change some directories or files. Sometimes if I download a file, I can't save it to the desktop. What is this all about and how I can solve this?
Specs:? CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 4,4GHz
? Mainboard: Asus P5Q Pro
? GFX: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850 Mb
? Memory: 4 Gb Exceleram DDR2 1110MHz
? Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
? Storage: ~1 Tb
? OS: Windows 7 Ultimate OEM 64bit newest version
Everything else works fine still, but these are two annoying problems I'm facing.

Thanks, xoxo

A:Strange freezing problem and administrator problem

ur second problem is caused by the application experience service not running. by having that disables you will get that permissions error after you navigate into any newly created folder. if this is not the issue then something else has altered your permissions

My 7900gt is pretty messed up, texture tearing, artifacts, ect.

So EVGA has approved of a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). This is awesome news.

Anyways, I heard the 7900gt has been discontinued...so what does that mean for me?

Am I going to receive an outdated old 7900gt?

Or are they going to upgrade my card for free, to a 7950gt.

Please let me know what you guys think and please share your personal RMA experiences.

Thanks in advance

Hey all.

I've recently had a problem with my WinXP. I restarted after changing a startup program in msconfig, and when it loaded up, the normal blue taskbar changed to classic style, so I thought ''Ok, that's weird'' and changed it. But after looking around a bit more, I noticed that my internet connection had also gone, and wasn't listed in my Network Connections folder (I'm posting this from my Linux partition). So I went back into msconfig, and tried to uncheck the program that I disabled (I think it was an nVidia driver [nwiz]), and noticed that all startup programs were disabled somehow, but after trying to enable them, I got an error window saying that I couldn't change it, as I was not the computer administrator (which I am).

I think it might be a virus/spyware. But after scanning in AVG and Ad-Aware, nothing turned up. And for some reason now, when I load up Spybot Search and Destroy, it wont maximise from the startbar. I'm starting to kinda worry about this... Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum , It sound a bit like your in safe mode , by any chance when you were in the msconfig did you by any chance highlighted the BOOT.INI tab and place a check mark on Safeboot ?

A couple of days ago I noticed a slight problem with my laptop. It doesn't recognize me as the administrator.

I only have one account on this computer. When I go into the User Accounts Section of the Control Panel, it says that I am the administrator.

This caused several problems. For example, I was testing out a bunch of old games I found in one of my cabinets, and I couldn't install one of them because I would have to do it with "an administrator's permission" or something like that. Then, I was trying to delete a bunch of stuff with spybot, but it said the action couldn't be fully completed, because I was not the administrator. Check marks still appeared beside every problem it found, though, but I'm not sure... And when I tried using the immunize function of Spybot, it said the same thing.

This is very annoying. I'd be very grateful if someone helped me. (I'm not that great with computers, so if someone could give me a bit simpler instructions, I'd appreciate it).

Hello All,

I am new MS Vista user. After installing Vista on my laptop I removed Admin rights of my user to have more security. But then I am not able to log in as Administrator at all. I tried -
1. running command prompt as administrator by right clicking
2. switching user from command prompt using RUNAS command
3. enabling admin account by net user administrator /active:yes resulted access denied
4. installing software and typed admin password when prompted for password
5. turn UAC on or off

All above actions are not working. I am sure that password is correct.
Please help me how can I log in as admin on my machine.
