I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a ?Y510P Leonovo Ideapad? and found out, that the mainboard contains an empty port-connector labeled with ?SSD?. A picture of this connector is in the attached image. I am planning to upgrade the Laptop with an SSD-card to improve system speed. Within this context I have a couple of questions, regarding the specifications of this port and suitable SSD-cards: Does this port both accept SATA as well as PCIe SSD-cards?Is there a limitation on the maximum memory-size of the installed SSD-card? Can I install a 256GB SSD-card? (For example ?Transcend MTS400 256GB SSD?) ?Can I partition the SSD-card in a way to fully install Windows 10 on it, making it the boot partition. The SSD-card should then be visible as a standard drive C:\ under Windows. Can I also install a second operating system (Linux) onto a second partition on the SSD-card, making it a dual boot system?I would be very happy, if anyone could help me with these questions, so that I can upgrade the laptop with the appropriate SSD-card and configuration. Thanks in advance,electron8000

Hi.I am considering buying Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p,to be more specific I want exactly this model from newegg.com. This model has 5400rpm 1tb HDD which in my personal opinion is not good enough for this laptop so I was planning to upgrade it to SSD but I am not if this is possible to remove the existing HDD and replace is with my SSD as I see no HDD bay on the back of the laptop, the manual also provides no information on how to acess the HDD. There is also no information on the size of the hard disk drive on this model,is it a regular 2.5" HDD or are they using other size drive..? I have chatted with a few representatives online, but they could not provide any specific information, one of them told me that this is possible, the other one said it is not.I hope someone can provide detailed information on this matter.Thank you.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p HDD Question.

hi quick5and,

Welcome to the Forums.

The official Ideapad Y510p specs sheet has not been released yet but the 1TB HDD is a regular 2.5" SATA HDD (same as the Y500, see page 38-40 of the hardware maintenance manual on how to access the HDD)

Other SKU of the Y510p, like this merchant, sells a hybrid 2.5" drhve (sample specs here)

As for upgrading the HDD to SSD, you may want to check Crucial's SSD upgrade for the Y510p or go with an mSATA drive (according to these reviews, the Y510p uses an M.2 (formally NGFF) mSATA drive).

Please check this pdf data sheet in the future as it will enlist the official specs for the Y510p.

Best regards,
neokenchi

I've had my Ideapad y510p for about 2 years and recently the charger stopped working.  At first it just needed to be re-plugged in, then it needed to be plugged it at weird angles and held up to charge, then it had to be in the exact right position, with no motion.  Then it just stopped charging.   From what I've read it sounds like this may be a problem with the port, not the charger, but I've tried using a charger that fits my computer but isn't the right voltage/wattage (or w/e) and it will charge for a time, then stop, then continue to charge if I plug it into a new socket. I tested it by taking out the battery and turning it on: with the inappropriate charger, it'll still work, with the old charger, it won't turn on.   As far as I can tell, there's no physical damage to the charger, though it's possible it might have been dropped or mishandled when traveling with it.  I know for a fact I've dropped my computer several times, but I've never had charging problems immediate after, and all those instances were a good while back.   So is it more likely that my computer is the problem, or just the charger?  I still have the warranty on my laptop; if that's the problem, can I get it fixed?

Hello guys,  I bought my Lenovo y510p for months ago, tried with several SLI games to run those. They all crash, and returns the screendriver has stopped working. I have the y510p with GT 755m sli. Any solution for this?? If I run without SLI all is working good.

Have you updated your video card drivers with the latest drivers from the Nvidia website?  Have you monitored your GPU temperatures to see if either of your GPUs are overheating?  You can try using GPU-Z to monitor your GPUs while gaming.

Hi, I got my new Lenovo Ideapad y510p for a month ago, and  three weeks after it started acting wierd by having a slow startup and sometimes it just had black screen when it was starting up. Sometimes I have to hold down the  power and try several times to turn on the computer. When it do start up, at the begining (after the lenovo logo) it makes some black screen switching (not sure if it correct way to describe it), and then it take ages for it to get on the login screen, and get on desktop, its like it doesn't have an SDD. Any help?

Hi Zenadbeg,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510p laptop is not working as expected and takes long time to boot into Windows, below are the steps to check and resolve the issue in the computer:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
To access the BIOS menu click the NOVO button which at the left-hand side of the computer next to AC power adapter jack.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now Click on ?F10? Key to safe the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hello fellow Lenovo users, i will start by saying having been a Lenovo brand user since my X41 in 2006 and having purchased over 8 laptops from the brand based on the rich experiences i have had over the years i am really disapointed at my Y510p i purchased a few years ago. After ownership of 6months i started to notice the screen would flicker as stated by hundreds of other owners.(just type Y510p screen flicker into youtube and see for yourself) I am sure this issue is not new to you  and there are many posts about this. After contact with customer services who constantly tell me it is driver/software related, which it clearly is not i would like to ask why such a prestigious brand such as Lenovo will not admit that this model was shipped with a design fault? I understand that there would be expense involved but after being an avid fan of Lenovo for over 15 years and having purchased over 13 products from tablets for my kids to phones for my wife and the new laptop i buy every 2 years for work, this is small fry. I can never buy another machine from you again now as i have lost all faith in your design/testing and the lack of willingness to accept liability when so many units have the issue makes me sad. This has become a bit of a rant, which i know is not what he forum is about but i feel people should know all the details about a company ethos before they spend their hard earned money on a sub standard machine. Hello! I have had this problem for a LONG time now, and it is getting very frustrating now. Whenever my screen has a large area of a dark color, my whole display begins to glitch out and flicker. Not only do I have this problem, but there is a problem where there are pink and green areas covering places where it shouldn't be, if that makes any sense, I don't know how to explain it. I have tried so many ways to fix it, but none have worked. I had reinstalled my drivers MULTIPLE times, I had sent it back to Lenovo for repairs, I had unplugged some cables that people had said would fix it, but still, the problem still persists. I do not know what could fix this, and it is so aggravating! It seems like everyone who had this issue as well can never get it fixed either, and their thread gets suppressed and never to be heard from again... any help is appreciated at this point, I can't even bear to look at my laptop screen anymore because the flashing and flickering irritates my eyes. This seems like a problem with ALL y510p's, and I don't understand why anything can be done about it. Thanks in advanced.

If you mean the factory recovery files try Lenovo for a recovery disc set if available. If you mean for the OS alone just download the MEDIA CREATION TOOL from microsoft which you will use to download the OS installer. As to drivers go to the download site for your unit to download them.

Clicking properties would show "windows has stopped this device code 43". I look on the forums and find some solutions that tell me to uninstall my card and i did.  still nothing. still blue lines on my screen. I've pretty much given up at this point and im submitting to the forums. My Ultrabay card just wouldn't work. Now ive resorted to unplugging it and just using the intel integrated graphics card.

They're RAM sticks, not cards, and they're fairly easy to change out. I would suggest looking for something in the 1866mhz speed, though I think you need lower voltage memory. So I'd get something 1.35v or lower.

Hello.I am the owner Lenovo IdaePad y510p Intel i5 4200m.Not so long ago I bought a i7 processor 4810MQ.Both the i5 4200m and i7 4810MQ work on the Socket G3 also known as RPG 946B/947 or FCPGA 946 but with the difference that the intel i5 4200m has a TDP of 37W and Intel i7 4810MQ has a TDP of 57W.So after update the BIOS to version 3.08 willingly I took up the replacement processor. To my surprise, after an exchange with i5 to i7 4200m 4810MQ laptop will not turn on, for a short time (1 to 3 seconds) shone on the white button "power" but immediately afterwards extinguished.I suspect that it is a voltage input to the processor, but the BIOS is not possible because the feature voltage change is not visible / hidden. I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

This has been an exhausting day! I've been trying to figure this out for quite awhile.

To start, I'll post some information.

My webcam was working fine yesterday! I tried doing a system reboot to the the week before that and alas the issue prevailed. My internal webcam is not being registered by my laptop!

So the solution that seemed obvious enough was to check my drivers, update them if necessary. Which I ended up doing. Alas, the issue prevailed.

Checking the device status, I received the error "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." The device is currently registered as 'Unknown device' as I uninstalled the driver. I was receiving the same error when I did have the original drivers though.
Looking up what the error means, it meant that the device was disconnected. I'm not entirely sure how this could happen though with an internal laptop. I also need to get a new copy of the drivers (Which don't seem to be registering the device upon installation).

Anyway any help would be appreciated as this has become a huge headache for me, and i just want to skype with my friend!

A:Need help with internal webcam drivers for Lenovo Ideapad y510p.

It might be that the webcam has failed if everything else has been tried.you can take it somewhere and have it looked at but im not even sure they can be fixed when they go. it might be cheaper just to get an external webcam such as a logitech.

Hello.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p and it has erratic BSOD behavior, usually after sleep mode, but not always. Would love to get to the bottom of it and appreciate any help you can provide!

I've attached the necessary file as per the BSOD posting instructions.

Thanks,
Alexander

A:BSOD on Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p, after sleep mode usually

Only 48 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 80 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The memory dumps blame usbccgp.sys, but MSINFO32 lists ks.sys (kernel streaming of video driver)
And this seems to happen during a power down event (such as power off/hibernate/sleep/etc)

Finally, what applications do you delay using Startup Delayer?
What USB devices do you have connected?

I'm concerned about your version of Diskkeeper as it dates from Jan 2013 - well before Win8.1 was released.
Can you update it? If not, please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

You may not find an update for this one, if so, just leave it be:

Hello, I only found out after purchasing the Y510P laptop that it for some strange reason does not support 5Ghz networks, only 2.4Ghz. This results in me having insanely slow connection every single night around peak hours (7-11pm), and I'm unable to do anything like watching movies, playing games or download stuff. Does anyone know exactly how to upgrade the wireless card on this laptop so it supports 5Ghz networks? Do I have to go out and buy another wireless card, or is it software upgrades like drivers only? I'm not a computer major so a walkthrough would be appreciated. Thanks.

From about 3 weeks ago, my Lenovo Y510p (GT 750M Sli, purchased in 2013) started to make this weird grinding/buzzing sound at random times on the CPU side of the fan. It was barely noticeable if I had headphones on at first, but starting from the second week the noise and vibration of it grew louder. After doing some research for possible fixes, I have tried the method openining Energy Management and running the Dust Removal feature to temporary solve the problem. However, that method only worked for about a week, and starting from the third week the buzzing remains very consistent even after I run Dust Removal several times. Does anyone here know what is the problem exactly? I know for other models, people have been able to solve the problem by updating their BIO driver provided by the website. But all Y510p users seen to have that problem early enough to just get a refund or send it back for exchange/repairment using their then still active warranty. I would like to know if there's any way that I can fix this without having to spend money for the fix when it is proven it is the company side issue since even fresh new purchases of the same model ran into the same exact problem within days.

Unfortunately my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Laptop has gone faulty just a month outside my two year warranty.  After being inspected this has come back as being customer fault as it is the centre pin in the power connector that has been bent that has caused the issue.  However Feel that this is a very poor design and that for an item at this price point that it is not fit for purpose.  Also when I was speaking to a work friend they had bought the same item only a few months before me and had the exact same fault.  I have since done done a small search and seen this same issue has been raised on a few forums over the last few years.   I was was hoping to get a view on how common this was and if you have been able to resolve.  If anyone else has had this issue please can you let me know and also how long you had the item before the issue began.  Many thanks

In December of 2015 I bought my daughter a Lenovo 300-15ISK IdeaPad. In many ways it was a good laptop, but it wasn't durable and I wouldn't buy another one. After 5 months (May 2016) part of the housing around the power connection was broken. Because of this the power cord wouldn't plug in all the way and the IdeaPad wouldn't charge. I took it back to where I had purchased it (MicroCenter) to be repaired. I was told that this type of repair was not covered by the warranty, and the price they quoted me was over $300 (about 3/4 of what I paid for the laptop). I was upset that the repairs weren't covered and that they were so expensive. Other places near me had similar prices for this repair. Luckily I was able to jury-rig a solution so the power connection would stay in place and the IdeaPad could be plugged in and charged. My solution lasted until late 2016 before I needed to adjust it again. That 'solution' lasted until this March before it failed again. This time the power connection became detached from the interior of the laptop. So I opened up the laptop in order to fix it again. This IdeaPad was clearly not designed to be repaired -- opening it up was an adventure which strained my abilities and patience. I was able to reconnect the power connection and reclose the laptop, but the IdeaPad will no longer start. So I am left with a bricked IdeaPad, a poor opinion of the durability of Lenovo products, and a worse opinion of Lenovo warranty terms.

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK, Model 80UD0017US, and would like to purchase a 2nd power adapter as a backup. In the hardware manual I did not see a reference as to the connector size (ie 4.0mm*1.7mm), which is the connector size reference I saw by one seller. Does anyone know the connector size on this power adapter for my model? Thanks,Kim

Hey Everyone, I've recently noticed my laptop slowing as I played games like h1z1 on the lowest setting. Eventually, I would get error messages about my GPU when the game would crash. I noticed my drivers were out of date and SLI was also not enabled. I have since updated the drivers and enabled SLI but I still get many of the same problems.  The laptop has two GeForce GT 750M's. I downloaded MSI afterburner and it shows both graphics cards at 135/405MHz at rest. But while gaming, the second graphics card remains at that same amount and relatively the same temperature while graphics card number one goes to about 1058/2499MHz and 75-90 degrees C temperatures. I've also taken out the ultrabay with graphics card number 2 out and put it back in to make sure it wasn't loose. I honestly don't know what any of the data really means, but I'm really hoping to get this fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Let me know if I can provide any more information!

Hey I just want to know that is my laptop CPU is upgradable? My model is Lenovo Ideapad Y550 and the CPU is Intel core 2 duo T6600 2.2 GHz.
From this link I found that it is upgradable ncompservices reviews: Lenovo Y550 4186 - Processor and Hard Drive upgrade - A potentially very inexpensive gaming laptop.

Main reason for upgrading is that it CPU is bit slow 2.20 GHz so I want to upgrade it. Which mobile processor which you guys suggest that is compatible with my laptop? I really want to upgrade. And also the link which I provided has image corrupted so I can't see the whole tutorial. Anyone please help me.

And yeah one thing that I must told you that my laptop CPU hasn't soldered to the motherboard unlike most of the laptop so I think it is replaceable.

Thanking You,
Ravi

A:Upgrading Lenovo Ideapad Y550 CPU.

Although many laptop CPU's are not soldered and can (theoretically be replaced by the end user) your BIOS may not be able to handle the upgrade. I would be careful in attempting such an upgrade as you may render your warranty void as well as make your computer nothing more than an expensive paperweight.

Lastly, will upgrading the RAM and SSD void my warranty? The "Hardware Maintenance Manual" (HMM) contains the specifications of your laptop (plus other information).  You can download it from the Lenovo web site.  Scroll to the bottom of this page and click "Manuals" in the "Support" column. I have an Ideapad 700-15ISK (not a Y700-15ISK), but I think that the answers to your questions are: (1) Two RAM sockets.  My 700 also has two RAM sockets, and the maximum RAM supported is 32 GB, but the Y700 might have a maximum of only 16 GB.  Look in the HMM to find out. (2) One M.2 SSD socket.  Note: not all brands and models of SSD are supported; you have to purchase an SSD that is on the list of supported SSDs (if you buy something else, there is no guarantee that it will work in the Y700).  Look in the HMM to see what SSD models are supported. (3) You can use an M.2 SSD with the HDD.  Alternatively, you could remove the HDD and replace it with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. (4) I think (not sure) that the RAM, SSD, and HDD are regarded as "user replaceable parts", so you can change them without voiding your warranty.  But it needs someone from Lenovo to confirm... Hi,I just bought 4GB DDR3 RAM for my Lenovo Ideapad Y560 laptop. Before, I have 2GB+1GB DDR3 RAM, so I think the new one will be okay. After plugging it in, I can't boot my Windows 7 OS. I can't boot installation of Windows 7 OS. I can't boot even memtest86.Can someone help me with that? What can I do with that?Normal launching (1)?Normal launching (2)?Memtest86?Safe Mode/repairing startup?BIOS with 4GB inside?

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 upgrading RAM

Hi hyperxd ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the product RAM specification :
4GB or 8GB std / 8GB max7 ; PC3-up to 1333MHz DDR3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

Recommended RAM upgrade as per hardware manual FRU listing for 4GB (page 85) :
13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, SAM M471B5273CH0-CH9 DDR3 1333 4GB  Part number : 11011934 13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, HMT351S6AFR8C-H9 N0 ((Rev Orion /2Gb/54nm)) Part number : 1101151313 DDRIII 1333 4GB, ELP EBJ41UF8BAS0-DJ-F DDR3 1066 4GB Part number : 11011867

Do you have the same specification as indicated above?
Would that be the same issue when it is on the lower slot 0 ?

Note: If only one DIMM is used on the computer you are servicing, the card must be installed in SLOT-0 ( a : lower slot), but not in SLOT-1 ( b : upper slot) (page 41).

Update us how it goes.

Regards

I have seen several posts for units with similar product numbers, but I can't find this exact machine anywhere in reference to upgrading the RAM.  It comes with 4 g of RAM and 1 TB hard drive.  I wanted to add 4 more G of RAM.  Turns out the 4 it has are soldered to the board and I don't seem to be able to find any literature or any place on the unit where I can insert any RAM at all.   It seems the only spot is where it it soldered to the board.  Is it true I cannot upgrade or increase the RAM in this unit??

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z575 laptop with windows 7 pre installed on it. With the realse of windows 8, I decided to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8. That was a big mistake; So, I wen't from windows 8 back down to windows 7. I didn't notice this until after I setup my computer but the windows 7 drivers got deleted and they were replaced with nothing. Because this is a Lenovo brand computer, it has a program called onekey recover. So I installed that through a USB becuase the laptop doesn't have a LAN wireless network connection driver on it. And I don't have internet at my house. So anyways, once that was installed, I ran it and it didn't work. Is there anyway I can restore all of my drivers and use the lenovo onekey recovery?

A:Lenovo Ideapad Z575 Upgrading & Downgrading - Mssing Drivers

You will have to download the drivers from Lenovo. Generally, Windows 7 will install many drivers, although it may not install all.

You will have to download all the drivers from Lenovo for the Z525. Start with the video, Sound, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, touchpad, etc.

Once a different OS was installed on the PC, I don't think the Onekey or any recovery partition will work. Only a manual install with a Windows disc and all the drivers.

Hi, I'm hoping this is the right place, I'm having some problems and I don't know where to turn... I do a lot of work with video, my original computer was too slow so I decided to upgrade the hdd (to 500GB 7200rpm) and add ram. (The hdd works like a dream!)I went through corsair.com and they showed me a list of compatible ram products. I then took the info I learned from their site down to my local computer store and bought the 4GB Kit. (Corsair RAM suggestions for the Lenovo Y510, I bought the highlighted 4GB Kit)After reading and watching a few things on installing ram it seemed simple enough so I went ahead with it and removed the two 1GB sticks out and put the two new 2GB sticks in.When I started up the computer...nothing happened. The lights go on I hear the fan and feel the hdd spinning but nothing on the screen for me to select. I tried waiting 30 seconds before installing the sticks, I tried alternating sticks, putting in one at a time even. I even put the old sticks back in. Still nothing. Sites say press f2 at start-up, still nothing, and they say press f8 to go into safe mode again nothing. A blank screen. My instruction manual tells me that there is no software to download and that BIOS in the POST process should detect the newly installed ram. What's going on?  Did I blow out my screen??? I know I'm way past the warranty...so I'm wondering who I call/ speak with?  Do I send it in to Lenovo to get it fixed?  How much will it cost ... A:Computer Won't Boot After Upgrading RAM, Lenovo Y510 Ideapad, Windows Vista, 2GB to 4GB RAM

You say the computer experiences the same problem even with the old RAM? If that's the case, the most likely scenario is that you are installing it improperly. You can take your computer to a local computer repair center and ask them to quickly show you how to install RAM. It should be a very quick fix, so don't pay someone to do this. Even a knowledgeable salesperson at a computer store would be able to look at it and fix it. Alternatively, it is possible you damaged both the old RAM and the new RAM (very unlikely, but I suppose possible via extreme static discharge?). Or you somehow damaged the motherboard or other component (I don't see how this could possibly happen, unless you did something incredibly wrong, and even then it would be hard).

Hey there, can I replace my ideapad's graphics card? It only got Geforce 920MX and I want to change it to a better one. and also, I've experienced a bluescreen of death on this laptop. I only had this for around 4 months, the error below has nvlddmkm.sys something. Can I get a fix for this one? I'm currently trying the solution microsoft gave to a user, it's by removing the driver and reinstalling a new one from nvidia. Are there any other solutions?

I inserted a 32G Kingston SD card and initially the system recognised it and said it was downloading software. This eventually stopped but the card didn't show under This PC. I removed it and entered it again, this time nothing. I have followed a similar link on this community and downloaded the driver software, it said it loaded and installed but no effect. The driver doesn't even appear under the drivers section of control panel.

Hello. I have a Lenovo ideapad 100s - 80R2 that I just bought a few years ago. The device is running Windows 10 Home, build 1511. I have recently bought a Sandisk 32GB microSDHC card for use of the built-in microSD card slot of the device. When I tried to insert the card into the slot, there was not "Hardware Insert" notification sound coming out of Windows. I thought the card wasn't working. When I managed to insert the card into a USB microSD card reader, the system was able to detect the card, so it means it's working fine, but the microSD card isn't. I tried to find any updates for the SD card controller of the device, but it says it's already the latest version. Any help?

I've got a new Lenovo Z470 with Windows 7 32 bit.

When I put an SD Card in the slot from my camera nothing happens.

The card doesn't show up in My Computer.

I've looked on the Lenovo website for drivers but can't find anything specific to this problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

goto device manager

and look under disk drivers - see if you have a media controller there

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Device Manager
Post back the results in device manager

windows key and pause Key should open to allow device manager to be seen on laptops may need to use windows key + FN key + Pause Key
if not then

Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager
