New Inspiron 5558, Right Angle DC Power Plug adapter

Q: New Inspiron 5558, Right Angle DC Power Plug adapter

I have been searching for a right angle adapter for the DC power plug. The male plug diameter is 4.5 mm (0.178 inch diameter). The existing male plug is straight and the cord receives much stress at that point because the female receptacle is located on the side of the laptop rather than the back. A right angle adapter will relieve that stress. There are many right angle adapters available but I have been unable to find any of the correct size needed, which is much smaller on this laptop. Looking for a source!

Preferred Solution: New Inspiron 5558, Right Angle DC Power Plug adapter

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys.
So I like to think I'm pretty good with PCs considering i do the maintenance on my own whenever I need to. However, this computer is pretty new, about a week old. But I noticed that half the time, when i plug in my adpater to charge my laptop while I'm using it, it goes to sleep. I know it's asleep because (a) the fan stops running and (b) it's woken up quickly using typical methods to wake a computer.
Anyone got a clue about how to prevent it from auto-sleeping?

My power adapter burn, where i can to buy new? 65w 3.34A

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dv9700t laptop. The power connector attaches to the right side of the laptop and the plug is straight. Unfortunately, I do not have much spare room on the right side of the laptop where I typically use it and the plug/cord is interferring with my mouse. I've been scouring the internet looking for some kind of a right angle adapter that I could plug into the end of the power cord and then into the laptop so that the cord would immediately turn towards the rear of the laptop and give me more space for my mouse. Does anyone know where I could buy such an adapter?

Thanks for any suggesions.

If the adapter IS recognized, replace the battery.
If the adapter IS NOT recognized, and is a non- Dell adapter, replace it with a Dell adapter.  If it's a Dell adapter and it's not recognized, replace it with a new Dell adapter first.  If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack in the system:

The power button is not very responsive. It will turn on with a lot of pressure. Would I have to take the laptop apart to correct this problem?

Here's the story. I got home yesterday and tried to turn on my laptop, and it wasn't turning on/booting fast enough. I had already had a stressful day, so there was a major lack of patience on my part. So i kept on pressing the power button and holding it down etc, and I pressed it very hard before eventually quitting. Then i take a break, I try the power button again but this time there is no click/compression. I'm not sure if it's jammed or anything but it won't click/compress (almost like there is a spring missing). So I sit there for a while starring at the screen and all of a sudden it turns on (blue screen says something about repair; was too fast for me to read).
I take the thing apart following instructions online to try and un-jam the power button, maybe it's stuck in a constant hold position, I'm now at the final step and not sure what is happening because there is compression but no spring back when against the power button pcb. I'm not sure what is wrong I need any help at all.
Do you think I broke the capacitor in the power button pcb or maybe I exceeded the limit of proportionality in the surrounding plastic and negatively alter the elastic modulus from applied stress/strain?
Here are the tutorial that i followed online:

I am traveling to Hong Kong in a couple of months. My HP laptop is from the US. It has an external power brick that takes 100-240V.

My question is about the cord that goes from the power brick to the wall outlet. The cord has a US plug. Does the cord also take 100-240V and I just need to buy a plug adapter, or does the cord only take US voltage and I need to buy a new cord?

A:Buy plug adapter or new power cord for travel?

You just need a plug adaptor, the power brick and the cord itself already supports International Voltages (worldwide)

(e.g. Hong Kong uses 50 Hz, 200/220 V, so you're pretty much covered there.)

Hi I'm using an Advent 7111 Laptop using Windows XP Media Centre SP2.
I have an Orange Livebox wireless router (formerly Wanandoo I believe) and I can connect wirelessly on my laptop just fine when it is running on just the battery. As soon as I plug in the power adaptor/charger, the wireless connection disconnects. When I hover the cursor over the wireless connection logo in the bottom right corner (system tray i think it's called) it says the connection strength is excellent!? But even when it says it is excellent strength I still can't sign to Windows Live Messenger or surf the web! Please reply ASAP please!!!

A:Wireless network diconnects when I plug in the power adapter/charger!?

I did that to myself once when I carelessly put the power supply too near the wireless adapter.

If your power supply is not within inches of the adapter, and not in the direct path between router and adapter's antenna I'd guess you have a serious problem with the power supply or with the overall wiring in your house. Try plugging into the same outlet as the router.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5567.  A previous Inspiron I owned had a wider connector for the power adapter.  This on has a narrower connector.  I just want to buy a right angle elbow so that the cable lies toward the back of the laptop not out to the side.  It's very hard to tell if what I want is online or make sense of the measurements.  It's just a wide angle joint.  Doesn't anyone know where I could find this?
I contacted Dell.  After a week they emailed me back to call their 800 number about accessories.  After first being cut off, someone answered and directed me to a part number that turned out to be a $60 right angle adapter.  This is what should have been the one included with my laptop.  The part I want should be about $6.  If Dell doesn't make this, where can I get it?

The power button on my Zino lights up white and then turns to solid amber color after 1 second or so.
After a little "googling" I found out it might be the power adapter (or motherboard and such)
I was wondering if my 90W (19,5V and 4,62A) might not be suitable with my Zino?
I have a couple of these 90W power adapters and they all light up green so they all work.
I want to be sure before scrapping my Zino or try to buy an OEM pwer adapter.

Your help is much appreciated.

You need the octagonal connector.
The round plug won't fit securely - and while third-party adapters will run the system, the won't charge the battery.

I went ahead and searched through the forums, but I didn't find anything that may work in my case, so I thought I would ask here.

For the past few months, the battery on the laptop will not charge although it is plugged in correctly - I checked the pin inside the adapter connector, and it is straight as an arrow. Fiddling with it does not fix it at all. I am using the original adapter that came with the laptop. A few weeks ago, I installed the new BIOS, but the problem is still there.

The laptop gets a message during startup that reads
"AC Power Adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect Dell 65W AC Adapter or greater for best system performance. To resolve this issue, try to reset the power adapter."

When the laptop, the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging."

One time, I managed to fix it by unplugging the battery for a while and reinserting it, but after a week or so, it kept happening again.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1521, and it's only 1.5 years old. I understand this may be a battery problem, but those can be rather expensive, and it seems a little soon for the battery to be dying. I'd rather try to rule out anything else before I have to buy another one. I don't have a spare to test it, but is there any other way I can try to figure out what's going on? Or does anyone else have any thoughts on ... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron Power Adapter problem

It's almost certainly the battery. Depending how it was cared for, how much it charged/overcharged, and what type it is, it may not be at all unusual for it to quit after a year and a half. Do you know what type it is (Lithium, NiMH, NiCad, etc.)?

It can't be the adapter if it is powering the machine.

What percentage charge does it say the battery has?

This morning I woke up to see blue flashes coming from my office at home. My cat had eaten through the cord BETWEEN my LAPTOP and it's POWER BRICK. Fortunately the cat had also pulled the cord free of the computer - and the power brick itself seems to be in good working order.

Unfortunately the cat was still alive and probably hadn't been taught much of a lesson.

I took one look at the cable and decided that the two areas where the cat had eaten through plastic just had to be cut from the cable (luckily both bite-spots are close to each other) and then the remaining good parts of the cable could be spliced together.

However, I'm now wondering if a trip to Radioshack is in order. I would like a longer cable between power brick and computer anyway. Since I am at work now and would like to swing by radioshack on my way home from work, I cannot take another look at the damaged cable. I've checked online and can find no pinouts or schematics of the power supply.

So I guess my question is this...

If you were going to repair an Inspiron 9300 Power Supply cable and you wanted to do a really good job of it, what supplies would you pick up from Radioshack while you're out shopping for a cat defibrillator? Any idea what kind of replacement cable I should be picking up? Also, are there any protective cable sleeves I can buy to prevent this kinda thing happening again?

When I adjust the angle of the screen on my Inspiron 5555, the screen goes black.  Sometimes I get black-and-grey horizontal pinstripes across the screen for a moment before it goes black.  (These stripes replace the video display -- nothing is visible beneath them.)  Initially, this only happened when I adjusted the screen to a certain angle.  Now it sometimes happens simply if the computer is bumped.
The computer is not going to sleep when it goes blank -- if I am streaming a video when it happens, I can still hear the audio.  If I attach the laptop to an external monitor like my TV and set the display to duplicate, the TV display continues to work even when the laptop screen goes blank.
I thought that maybe a cord or wire was getting pinched in the hinge, but if I press the power button to put the computer to sleep and press it again to wake it, the display comes back like nothing happened.
The laptop is about a year and a half old -- I bought it on Black Friday 2015
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi -- not sure if this is the right place for this, so apologies if it's not.

I've had my Dell Inspiron 600m for about a year and half, and in the past couple months, the power adapter seems to "shut off". The green indicator light goes out, and my laptop begins to run on battery power. If I unplug the power adapter and plug it back in, it starts working fine again.

The frequency of this seems to vary, and I can't identify any behaviors I'm doing that are associated with this happening. Sometimes, if I leave my laptop unattended for a couple hours, I'll find that the power adapter has shut off and the battery has drained to the point where the laptop has to go into hibernation mode.

What might be causing this? Is it something wrong with the power adapter itself, or something in the motherboard or laptop itself?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

A:Problem with Dell Inspiron 600m & power adapter

The problem is most likely one of three things. However, I have to ask a two question first!

Do you mean the GREEN light on the AC Adapter or on your Laptop. I am assuming on the AC Adapter for this response.

Do you keep your laptop plugged into the same outlet all of the time? The reason I am asking this is that it could be a bad outlet or the outlet could be damaged and the power supply is simply losing connection at the outlet.

1. Possible outlet problem as in it has a worn plug in and the ac adapter loses contact. This can also happen on a power strip too!

2. Could very well be a failing ac adapter.

3. Could also be caused by the battery.

If #1 is a possibility, try a different wall socket.

If it does it in all sockets, you could remove the battery and plug the AC Adapter into the laptop. It should run without the battery too! This would rule out the battery as being a problem! If the AC Adapter fails without the battery, then it is the AC Adapter. If it works with the battery out, then it is most likely the battery!

Hope this helps!

I tried update my BIOS - nothing.
Replace AC - nothing
Exclude malfunctioning AC adapter.
Sometimes after a few connections begins to charge my battery, and it is a day where you do not try to charge.
But I found a solution, which is always charge my battery.
when i turn off the system, and then pulled out the battery. I push the button 'power on' for 10 seconds. And then I put back the battery and plug the charger. I turn on the system and everything works.
But once again, disconnect and plug the charger that stops charging

Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Since you have replaced the adapter, if the battery has good health, then then next part to be replaced would be the dc port - you would need this part - http://bit.ly/2d2vuCc
If nothing works, the motherboard might be at fault.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5040N Laptop that now has a Dead Battery due to lack of charging.  Once the AC adapter is plugged into the Laptop the AC Module stops charging (green light goes off.  I have tried another Ac Adapter and have even replaced the AC Power Plug on the laptop with the same results.  I can not run any of the Tests due to battery is dead and Laptop will not turn on.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi RAYB871,
Please check if there is any damage on the machine. Check if all the ports on the machine are fine or misaligned. Sometimes if the pins in the USB ports are touching each other, they are known to cause many issues on the machine.
Three components cause this issue, in this order:
Adapter - you have already tested another adapter, so ruled out.
DC Port - the port that holds the adapter in, might be shorted - you would need this part - http://bit.ly/2bQ3HoP
Motherboard - I would primarily suspect this part, if the dc port does not fix the issue, then it is the motherboard that has failed and needs to be replaced.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
Personally, I would suggest, you invest your money on a new machine than to repair this old machine. However, it is your discretion.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hello!I've problem with my dell inspiration n5110 laptop. At the beginning there was sometimes a screen like below, but now I've it on every turn on. I haven't changed anything in BIOS, so it could be the power adapter problem? Which one should I buy to test it?I have all original parts in my laptop.I'm little surprised about this 130W Adapter. Could I buy dell adapter with params 19,5V 4,62A 90W or should I look at the 130W?

I was bought the above laptop as a present to replace my ancient Inspiron 1525 two weeks ago and since pretty much day one it has been rebooting randomly and displaying "whea_uncorrectable_error".

Machine runs Windows 10 (supplied with) and has not been fiddled with or messed about with in any way. I have updated all recommended Dell drivers including BIOS and Windows is fully up to date. I have not overclocked or adjusted the processor.

I must admit is rather dissapointing on a brand new machine as I really hoped it would just work without any issues and I want to use it for work purposes so it really needs to be reliable.

You might be experiencing a corrupt windows update. Please type troubleshooting control panel onto the (Cortana) search box, click on "View All", and then windows updates. You can click System Maintenance as well.
