Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Q: Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

Preferred Solution: Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

Cheers!

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

I am running Windows XP Professional with Explorer and I have downloaded Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and after about 3 to 5 seconds, the Mozilla window closes unexpectedly.

I have deleted Firefox and down loaded the program several times without positive result.

Searching Goggle has not given me the answer either.

Can some on help please?

I just noticed that if I run a full system "Spy Doctor" scan from start up, then the Firfox browser works fine until I log out. As soon as I do that and log back in I am back to the same problem. Any ideas please?

I set up Firefox Sync Bookmarks on my PC where and how do I get my Bookmarks which are being synced and saved ?

A:Firefox Sync Bookmarks? (Moved from Windows 10 forum)

The purpose of the Firefox sync feature is to allow another device (PC - Phone - etc) that has Firefox installed the ability to sync the bookmarks, history etc to itself. For example. I have a Desktop PC, A laptop PC and a Android Smart Phone. Each of these devices have FireFox installed. Each of the devices are sync'd together. So if I save a bookmark on my PC, I can then use Firefox on my Smart phone and the bookmark will appear there and can be used by FireFox.

Its not really a backup. It just makes what ever your syncing available on all devices that use FireFox.

I have 4 browsers on my computer: Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. I am trying to listen to some MP3 files on a website, and all of the browsers, except for IE 8, told me to download the Realplayer Plugin. So I did, and when I tried to listen to the MP3 file, Realplayer will automatically enable this "Autoupdate Helper" thing and check for updates. So I let it check for updates, but then it'll say "There are no updates..." and just stop there. The file won't play! I click play again, and the same thing happens.

Internet Explorer is the only browser smart enough to open the MP3 files on the web page using Quicktime (the website actually tells you to use Quicktime to open the files) but it doesn't load the Youtube videos that are embedded on the site. There's a X on the top left corner of the section where the video is suppose to be.

Now I'm stuck! I want to view all the contents on one page with one browser! But none of the browsers will actually work properly!

So the main problem is:

1. The MP3 files won't load in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera using Quicktime.

Chrome is the only browser I use frequently, and the others are basically backup. IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO THIS!?!?!?

Thanks everyone!

I know other users have had issues with this but I didn't know if I could follow the solutions for their problem or not.

(Not sure what information is helpful so I'll start and the top and be brief)
For my job I am required to sometimes go to 'suspect websites' and normally Norton will catch anything before it even has a chance to download. Sadly, two weeks ago I did download a file called Trojan.Gen (or at least that is what Norton called it). Almost immediately Norton caught and removed all threats but I knew I wasn't going to get off that easy.

For a few days everything seemed fine but shortly after I started seeing attack messages from Norton from \device\harddiskvolume1\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, the IP and web address changes.

I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to my computer and have since been trying to remove it with no luck with Norton. Now, my web pages are being redirected to either a fake search page or a Pay Per Click page, if I click a link in Google.

Norton and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free are telling me that they are not detecting anything.

I did read the preparation guide, so I hope I have all the information that is needed.

I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can get and I understand that this is a process. I appreciate your time!
-Eve

Dear BleepingComputer folk,

My laptop is running Firefox 40.0.3 under Windows 8.1 (64-bit).

The Problem

Two nights ago my browser (then Firefox 40.0.2) started opening some webpages extremely slowly, simply refusing to open others and producing a "This document has been moved here" message for others (see below screenshot - the link would appear to go to whatever I searched for, but I never clicked it).

These various problems were affecting familiar websites that I have bookmarked and regularly open, such as Facebook.  This seemed to be in some way related to the cache, as it was not affecting new URLs that I had not visited previously during that browsing session.

Hi Guys

I am new to this forum and have limited knowledge of computers.
I was using Firefox version 2 and was very happy until I was requested to download version 3. Now I seem to have endless crashes and keep getting told Firefox has a problem & needs to close. Up to 5 x a day.

This is very frustrating.
This happens with avg, facebook ,all internet functions.

I have spybot running and avg and says there are no problems.

We had a power failure earlier yesterday and when I switched back on Microsoft suggested I check the C drive as there was a problem -but that seems to have sorted itself out.-probably due to not closing down properly.

So can you help me with detailed instructions on how to fix forefox or totally remove it and install from the beginning or is there major problems with that version 3 .1 ?

Thanks
Carol

Forum, after using my Mozilla Firefox very successfully today for a while. I went off line for a couple of hours and left my pc. When I returned I saw a message from Adobe that they wanted me to download their latest Flash Player. I said OK. While they were downloading that and my Norton was telling me it was safe, they were also simultaneously downloading the McAffee Security Scan Plus, which was automatic. I couldn't stop it. I then removed the McAfee Security Scan Plus (I already have Norton, Malwarebytes, and Superantispyware). I found that I could still get on line through Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, but unable to get on to the MSN site through Mozilla Firefox, which is my "main" browser-although I'm not sure I made Firefox my default browser.

Whenever I click on the Mozilla Firefox icon through my Desktop page to access the net, I get the following error message in bold colors:

Server Error

403--Forbidden: Access is Denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

What gives? Again, so far I can access IE and Chrome but NOT Firefox. I will say that I was unable to access IE either for a while. I kept say that "http:///" is not a valid e-mail address (for IE). Somehow, I managed to fix that problem. Again, Chrome is working OK. But Firefox has remained inaccessible.

Any advice appreciated. Steve

I have been using Firefox for quite some time. Not too long ago I went to open the program and received an error message "could not find the Mozilla runtime". I figured I was probably due to upgrade versions anyway, so I simply reinstalled the program. It worked for a few days maybe and then received the same error. This has happened at least three times now. What could be wrong?

Im not sure the two could possibly be related, but it should be noted that this began happening at about the same time as my previous post about my Outlook error message.

Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
Windows:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

Please help me to get rid this of problem

Thanks

A:ActiveX Error in Mozilla Firefox browser

khaleel516,

You might want to start checking your machine for spyware and these steps are found elsewhere in these forums. This seems like the suspicious behavior of a browser that is infected with a trojan. Typically Firefox does not use ActiveX unless you installed a particular plugin and that goes against installing FF in the first place.

I updated Mozilla Firefox and now when I open it it gives me this Error Message.

Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features.

Please help!

IE is giving me trouble too - if there are 2 or more windows open and I close one, it closes IE down completely.

Appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks

I'm thinking it has to do with the secrurity settings on Firefox but im can't find anything on it. thanks for the help.

A lot of these on line scanners use IE only, so I would not worry I went there with both Firefox and Internet Explorer 7.0 and IE went four time faster thru the pages, which is just to opposite that I have found with the browsers.

Try it with Internet Explorer and all of the Scanners should be the same.

Hi, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Toshiba Laptop.

I recently upgraded to the new version of Mozilla Firefox (23.0.1) and when I tried to go on Facebook it came up with this error:

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I also noticed that it would not go to www.google.com either.

I have tried clearing the cache, cookies, offline web content, user data and I also checked the box "No Proxy" because I don't have a proxy sever. Still no luck .

I think there might be something wrong with the http or https?

If anyone has any suggestions of how to fix this, I would appreciate it a lot .

A:Mozilla Firefox, error "The connection was reset"

Try
Reset Firefox

Or test with a new user profile:
Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles | Firefox Help

Or export your bookmarks, un-install Firefox, re-install Firefox and import your bookmarks:
Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks | Firefox Help

I assume that you have the Linux version? You could d/l and install a new copy in case it helps; http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html If that doesn't help I don't know what else to suggest as I don't use Firefox very much.

Version 2.0.0.10 is due out soon, maybe next week.

Are there any suggestions of what to change? This does not happen on Opera or IE.

Hi all,
I have a really urgent and really wierd problem.
I have been reading and posting on this forum for a while now.. probably 2 months?
All of a sudden, starting yesterday, when I try to browse here to this forum, IE and Firefox both tell me they can't find this site.
If fact, it takes me to a site with a similiar name.. vista64.com with no x.
This only happens with this forum and one other and only from home on this computer.
I can browse all over the place on the internet without a problem. I have no problem browsing here from work.
I have made no changes or updates on the computer within the last 48 hours.
I downloaded the latest IE security update from Windows this morning which allowed me here for one session and then went back to telling me the site didn't exist.
Windows Defender full scan says all clear, Norton says all clear.
I have also cleared my cache on both browsers and cookies as well.

The only reason I got here now is because I accessed a cached site on a google search, which sometimes works and sometimes not.

Can anyone please help? I have my notifications enabled so I should see any replies in my email.

Hi,

I'm new here so i hope I posted this in the right section. I'm ok at using a pc but am a beginner when it comes to fixing problems.

When I use IE on certain sites the browser closes straight away so I can't access these sites on IE. They can be any sites not just specific ones. Even when I do a search on google and I click on a link IE will close dwn if it doesn't like it. So my first question is how do I fix this?
I have looked at some of your other threads and used spybot, spyware and adware and I used Hijak this and my log is as follows:
