External monitor (mini display port to full size DP) does no...

Q: External monitor (mini display port to full size DP) does no...

Hi there, I have a spectre x360 which I am using with 2 monitors: 1 x 24in monitor plugged via HDMI - HDMI lead1 x 27in monitor pluged via mini DP - full size DP lead I have the laptop screen and the 2 monitor screens on at the same time - so effectivily im using a total of 3 screens. Everything works fine until the laptop goes to sleep. When I wake up the laptop, the laptop screen and the monitor plugged in via HDMI turn on. The monitor plugged in via display port doesnt wake up. The only fix is to unplug the mini displayport cable and plug it back in to the laptop - this wakes up the monitor. The issue with unplugging and plugging the cable back in is all the windows that I had opened get moved about and its very frustrating. Please advise how I can get the laptop to wake up both monitors. thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hallo Community, I am using my X1 Carbon gen 4th with an external Monitor via HDMI cable. Now i would like to try to add another external Monitor on it. Without any docking station would be perfect. I notice that there is also a mini display port on my device. I suppose I can connect one monitor via HDMI and the other with mini Displayport? Will these two monitors work together at the same time? I would like to ask, if anyone has experience about that?   Thanks for the  inputs in advance!

Hi guysHave an issue with an X220 where the system was ready to be sent to the user, I did system update the night before deploying which included a firmware update, next morning the wifi was disabled. (original bios 1.28 I think, new bios 1.4).The wifi card is no longer detected by the system at all, indicating the firmware has disabled the card. I managed to force it back to a previous BIOS revision but the issue persists, I then rolled to 1.4 official again and have tried the modded bios v1.4 (without wifi whitelist).I have tried the original card in a different unit and it works, and have tried the spare units wifi card (same model card) in this X220, also not detected. So it seems the BIOS is still blocking all similar Intel cards. Interestingly if I try a Broadcom card from a different model Lenovo, it is detected in the mini wifi slot.So this confirms the slot is operational.I cannot use it however since it is a full size card and does not fit in the mini wifi section in the x220.Last idea I had was to try all the cards in the 2nd (full length) slot but that will not pick up any Wifi cards at all. Anybody have an idea where to look to enable the Intel cards again? I have seen mention of a pin which is used for this but surely with the modded bios this should not be an issue? Note that with any of the intel cards inserted no devices are detected in Dev Man, and no option to switch them on via Fn+F5 (wifi option missing) Thanks for any suggestion... HiWhat's the wifi card model, its p/n, Lenovo FRU? If this card isn't approved to use in x220, do you get the lock screen with error 1802 message during the laptop booting with original BIOS? Regarding the patched BIOS any question should be addressed to its author, it's not a deal of this official forum.BIOS v.1.4 wasn't released ever. Intitial, factory released version 1.04 dated 2011 year is outdated. The recent version is 1.43. It's impossible to rollback this version to any previous version, 1.28 including.

I'm using a T430s and a mini dock plus series 3. This is the dock with the dual DVI, dual DisplayPort, 1x VGA. I do not use the laptop's built-in screen; just the 2 external monitors. They both worked fine. I upgraded to 2 24" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution. The laptop is not recognizing the second monitor. I have tried:dual display port (dock side) to mini display port (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizeddual dvi (dock side) to HDMI (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizedI ruled out monitor and cable problems by swapping...each by itself works fine. Looking up specs, I believe this resolution should be supported by DP or DVI. Can anybody confirm that this is a supported config? Any ideas what is wrong? UPDATE - I did try 1 DP/mDP and 1 DVI/HDMI: this does work. However, its not an ideal solution because it would interfere with the monitors ports which I want to use for a second PC. UPDATE 2 - OK, now I am beyond aggrivated. Fixed; was a driver issue. Problem seems exclusive to a Dell u2415 on DP port 1 only of the dock or to the laptop's DP port (at least for the couple monitors I tried). It's possible it could affect other monitors. My starting point: / (Nvidia /  Intel) The latest driver from Lenovo is / I'm not sure how i have a slightly newer Intel, but that's what it was. I couldn't install the Lenovo driver. I also couldn't install a newer driver from Intel ( In both cases Windows or the Intel installer stopped me saying the mfr provided the drivers and that the installed version was up to date. I worked around by first rolling back the Intel driver. The manual (.zip) install of the latest intel driver worked. This immediately fixed the Dell u2415 on DP port 1 and laptop's built-in DP port.

I have an odd issue with my mini port that connects to monitors and big screen TVs: It won't work. Sometimes it works fine. I turn on the monitor or TV and connect the mini port adaptor (I have one for HDMI and one for Display Port) and the screen appears on the monitor or TV. Other times it simply DOES NOT WORK. Then, several days later, I boot up and connect to the port and it works as if nothing was ever wrong. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this happens. When it does not work, I have tried everything and it refuses to recongize and identify the external display, which does not show in Display Properties. I have rebooted. I have tried connecting to the port in every order there is, before I turn on the Y 900, after. I have tried turning on the monitor before and after, or connecting the adatptor the monitor before and after booting up, etc. NOTHING WORKS. And it happens with all monitors and various cables and adaptors. There are times when I need it to be able to see my work (video editing, audio editing, Photoshop) because the native screen on the Y 900 is just too small. Why does this happen?  How can I get it work when I need it to work but it isn't working? Thank you.

Well I'm not sure how to describe this accurately. (I tried to take a screen shot but that didn't capture the issue).
My laptop screen appears to be working fine however windows doesnt seem to want to use the entire area of the laptop screen. It's only using about 75%. I'm losing about 2" on the right hand side and about 1/2" on the bottom. I've played with all the resolution and screen size settings that I know of and can't seem to get it to go back.
Need some help troubleshooting this and getting it back to normal.
Any help is appreciated. Again. Screenshot doesn't capture it so I'm thinking windows setup has the screen smaller than it actually is? dunno.

A:Precision 7720 mini display port disabled

To my knowledge there's no way to disable the Mini DisplayPort output by design, so if it's not working, I don't think it could be a configuration issue.  If you haven't already tried toggling the "Graphics special mode" option, you may get different results by changing that setting, but the output is supposed to work either way, so that would just be some experimentation.  Otherwise, if you've already tried things like changing the cable and/or display (or you've validated that display and cable elsewhere), my guess is that this is a hardware issue that will require a motherboard replacement to resolve.

Hi,I have a ZBook 17 G2 and  its plugged into a docking station. Its been fantastic, however, seems wth the last update it installed on 9/25 (Intell Wireless LAN) my mini-display port no longer functions when plugged into the station. I've a dual monitors plugged into the dvi output on the dock, and I had a mini-display port plugged into a large external LCD (to show clients projects up on a big screen). I had been working totally fine- being able to see an extended desktop on both the two regular monitors )plugged into dvi output on the dock) and the larger one plugged into the mini-display. If i remove the laptop from the dock, the mini-display port functions again, so I know its nothing wrong with either the external display, the cables or the the mini-display->HDMI adapter. Any idea how i can roll back that update? I think its the culprit, as it was functioning totally fine until it was installed. Thanks for your help,-Dan

my 3mo. old used simpletech 320gb ext hd w/ replacement mini b to dual male usb cable ...i have committed some sins like, leaving it plugged in for long periods of time or accidentally pulling out the cord (and i want to mention that the other day after that happened, i could hear, very faintly, like the drive was skipping a little ...and i could not internally stop the drive and had to disconnect it once more to make its blue light go off) - but after that i plugged it in and it seemed to work okay still...) and, now the mini b connection (which i think stayed in place before) is now so fragile that, literally if i barely breathe while resting the drive on my lap (w/ my laptop) the drive will no longer be recognized by my computer... i have to be PERFECTLY still, i can barely get in to look at my files before it happens again...

do you think i should try a new cable, or duct taping the mini b (not too firmly though, because pushing the plug also makes it disconnect) in place ...or do you think i physically damaged the mini b port when the cord accidentally pulled out? ...do you think my files are toast?

i know you all work so hard and might not have time to help me but, thank you so much to anyone who took the time to read this...........................

Long story short, purchased LG W2353 when I was running Windows 7 Ultimate trial edition. Hooked it up via HDMI and it worked fine.

Now, I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium, installed, same config (HDMI) and now the screen resolution won't adjust to fill the entire monitor like it used to.

I've also tried to extend it through the Command Prompt, and that didn't work either.

A:Games won't play to Full Monitor size?

I think the refresh rates at the resolution you play those games is different from your desktop resolution - or else the two resolutions are different altogether. To avoid going through all the monitor adjustments to properly line up your picture you may want to try forcing your refresh rate to the same one you use at your desktop if it's the same resolution you're trying to play your game at. Monitors typically store a set number of image settings based on differences in resolution and refresh rate. That number is based upon the brand and model of monitor you buy.

Hi Guys, my P50 is running with full resolution and 250% DPI which is absolutely working fine. Yesterday I connected my 24" Eizo (Full HD) to my Laptop, both are working with their native resolution. And here comes the problem. The external display shows everything way to big. Just like I'm using it with a loupe. The internal 4k (primary) has the DPI setting of 250% and Windows 10 shows me, that the second one (the Eizo) is working with 100% DPI. But in my Opinion this can't be true. I think it takes the 250% from the 4k-display an set it to the base of 100% for the external one if you understand what I mean. But I googeled a lot and it seems that there is until now no solution because Microsoft handles that different to Apple? And I don't want to set the 4k-Display to a lower resolution (I know that would fix the problem). I think that I don't demand something impossible?

I run a Dell dimension 4100 with a 19" monitor. Windows 98SE with Internet Explorer 6 on a dial-up connection. Today something odd has happened. The monitor display cuts off the bottom inch or so. Thus, my background screen does not show the bar on the bottom where I can tell what programs, files, or web windows are turned on, or what has been taken off the screen but is available by pressing the proper place at the bottom of the screen.
In addition, some, but not all web pages have the same thing, so that I miss the bottom of the page, often where the key place to click is located. In the lower right corner of specific windows is a place to resize that window, but that corner is invisible, and I can not bring it up on to the screen.
When I first wanted to log in to Tech Support Guy, I went to look for my password, and inadvertently clicked the short bar on the upper right corner of the window, placing it down at the bottom, which I can not see. So I had to come in again, using keyboard techniques, to get to ask this query.
Thanks for your help.

A:Size of display on Monitor

Ok, sit down for this...
I have never owned a Dell but the very same thing happened to me with my monitor...and I am sorry to say, the Monitor had to go to Monitor heaven.
Something to do with the screen scroll lock (or something equally technical sounding) having failed, and its irrepairable, kind of like an inflatable pool not being able to hold the water in place any more...

Hope I am wrong though, and that someone else might have a suitable answer for you.

So, I got a Benq G2400WD and a 32 inch LCD TV connected to my computer, to my ati 4890 graphic card, and i wonder if i could set a different font size/dpi on my LCD TV than whats on the Benq?

A:Set different font size/dpi for each monitor/display?

AFAIK, font/dpi settings are universal and can't be different for each display.

I can't get the size of the display to fit the full size of my monitor. I have black screen approx 1"(inch) to the left, 1.5" to the right and 1/4" on top and bottom. Just installed XP home edition - I had display that fit to full screen viewing prior to installing XP home (I had XP pro and overwrote it w/ XP home).

I tried the stretch option in control panel/display/desktop and that did not work. Not sure if this applies to only desktop background picture but even desktop background does not stretch to fit.

Any ideas?

Does your monitor have an auto adjust function? If not then try changing the screen resolution

recently for the past few weeks (about 2) my screen has been "morphing" its size. It get's so bad that I can't even see the bar on the bottom of the desktop (with the "start" button) as well as the title bar on full screen windows. It's odd though, because last night I tried changing my theme from Classic to Windows XP hoping to fix this, but it didn't. So I kept it at Windows XP though, and I changed the Screen Refresh Rate to 70 Hertz. That fixed it temporarily, then this morning, I turn on my monitor and the screen is morphing again, and it gets me dizzy sometimes Then, I turned the monitor off, and on, and now its fine. If/When(most likely when) it starts up again, I will take a screenshot and post it here.

I appreciate any help

PS, I have Windows XP and a Compaq FS740 Monitor. Both were purchased together about 5 years, give or take one or two, ago.

I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop running Windows 10. I have just purchased a Dell U2515H monitor which I am waiting for delivery for as we speak. I believe the monitor has quiet a few inputs however I am not 100% sure which lead to get to connect them both and which port I use on the Dell Laptop. Looking on the left hand side of my laptop there is a port with a lightning sign next to it, is that called Thunderbolt? and is that my monitor/display port? and what lead do I need? it looks like some sort of micro socket!
