Q: Ideapad 520S BIOS Download - Checksum does not match

Hello,

I would to update the Ideapad 520S 14IK (81BL) bios (4QCN43WW) but the checksum doesn't correspond.

Lenovo site checksum : SHA-256:6f3814d904ee75083498c8d3b32d31591a56959d73db91692484f01470babfe3

Do you think they have forgotten to update the checksum on the site ?

Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:[SOLVED] The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum

I think I know what the problem is. Hopefully, it's just my video card drivers screwing around. If that's the case, I'd just have to enter the OS in safe mode and delete the driver or just format the HDD. The problem is, it won't let me get to any such screen. Either the file is possibly corrupt, or it restarts.

Hi All,

I have been trying to install Windows 8 64 bit retail version on my PC for the last 6 hours without success . After the 1st part of the install where you choose the disk and partition to install to, then it copies files etc, the PC does a reboot, which is normal for this part of the install. However, I let the boot sequence continue without selecting dvd of course, then it tries to boot from the hard drive but I get an error.

The header checksum for this file doesnt match the computed checksum.
File: \Windows\system32\winload.efi
Error Code: 0xc0000221

My system was previously running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit for years without any problems. This is not an upgrade, I am starting from a clean slate with a fresh wiped drive with no partitions.

System specs:

AMD FX-8150
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-D3
8GB DDR3 1333Mhz
XFX Radeon R9 270X
Samsung 840 120GB SSD (Trying to install fresh win8 to this)
Samsung 840 120GB SSD (Unplugged during this install for ease)
WD Black 1TB HDD (Unplugged during this install for ease)

I have tried both SSD's and also another Samsung 500GB HDD all with the same result.

I have tried the following:
- Win8 Install DVD - Automatic repair - fail
- Startup repair - fail
- Bootrec fixboot and fixmbr and BCDBoot commands successfully
- SFC /scannow gets to 100% but reports that its unable to do anything or something like that

A:Header checksum of file doesnt match computed checksum

I replaced the Corsair 4x4GB (16GB) DDR3 1333mhz with a set of 2x4gb (8gb) DDR3 1333mhz Elixir ram from my other machine.
The 64-bit DVD booted all the way to the installer this time with bios in AHCI mode and CD/DVD set to Auto/Non-EFI (1st time it has ever worked). The installation went on without a hitch and rebooted fine without a checksum error and I am now using the install to post this message without problems.

The RAM was the problem all along, although worked fine on Win 7 for a couple of years. Just must not like this new system setup.

Thanks to Mike Barnes from tomshardware for the suggestion.

My Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop won't get past the Dell logo at startup, resulting in a black screen with the error message:

"The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

I shutdown my laptop normally last night and booted it up this morning and received this error message. I have not added or changed anything.

So far I've run the Windows hardware and memory diagnostic tool (F12) and there were no errors. I also tried to run the Windows Vista Repair/Reinstallation DVD that came with my laptop; however, none of the repair options will work and the Windows Vista install crashes each time.

Startup Repair provided the following problem signatures:

CorruptBootConfigData

FixPartitionTable

Can anyone suggest how I may begin to recover my laptop?

Help! Any technical assistance would greatly be appreciated.

A few days ago i recently got the "blue screen of death" for the very first time running windows 7..

Today i left my laptop on and went to sleep when i woke up it was trying to boot...
but was stuck on this error "The header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

I tried booting again but got the same error... i ran ubuntu live cd and tried to save my data files but it wont access my hard drive either... neither can i run recovery since it was also on a partition on the hard drive.

I have an HP Compaq CQ 70..
3GB Ram
Dual Core 2.0
250GB HDD
originally came with vista i upgraded to win 7
Kindly help me recovering the data...

A:Cannot Boot Windows 7 "The header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

If you can't access w/Ubuntu, then it's likely that there's a problem with your hard drive.
Each use of the hard drive increases the chance that you won't recover anything. I'd strongly suggest looking into professional data recovery services - but be aware that they are very, very expensive!

Hi All
New build PC with Windows 7 32 bit, I keep on getting the following error message on start up after 30 mins of shut down ?. The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum

Then I Alt+Ctrl+Del and the PC fires up ok.

The only peripherals connect are mouse, keyboard, and a Monitor, once booted up and running I have used the following to check things out:-

Windows Device Manager:- All items are working correctly with no exclamation or question mark warnings. I have update all drivers for all devices.

Windows computer maintenance: Again all items check OK and are working.

Intel Application Accelerator Raid:- again all Hard drives and their raid configurations all check out as OK.

If I restart the PC all is fine, if switch off the PC and restart within 10 to 20 mins all is OK. However if I switch off and re-start after 30 mins the checksum error message reappears.

Any advice or assistance would be appreciatedThanks Zee Man

Hi, My computer came to some problems that can't be solved by myself. 1. keyboard backlight can't turn on whether win10(64) or win8.1(64), only the moment I turn on it will the backlight work a second; 2. Usually wifi can't work after I turn on this device, but will work if I turn off then turn on again; 3. Bettery used out when system show 47% power left, if I use it to 47%, it will suddenly shut down and can't turn on without AC plugged in. 4. I find Bios update in HP software&Drivers then try to update BIOS, but ended in failure, I noticed that my system board ID is 1912, but the BIOS I downloaded and tried to USB flash by Hardware Diagnostices is 01911, means that my SSID should be 1911. And my current BIOS ver. is A.03.03, but spectre 13-3000 series BIOS ver. in HP is all F.xx I have no idea how previous user made this condition happen.... Now I plan to restore BIOS ver. F.16, the latest ver. from HP Software&Drivers for this model, but I am afried this will do permenent damage to my computer.... Thanks for any advice!

I don't know if my barely 1 week old laptop is defect or if these Harman speakers are of exceptionally bad quality, but I simply cannot have the speakers on for a moment since there's constantly a static background sound coming from them. The only way to fix this seems to be to turn them off, but sometimes even turning off the speakers gives me this static sound. Should I bring in my laptop for repairs? The sound quality is also very poor. I've had a cheaper ASUS and HP in the past and their speakers were MUCH better quality, so I didn't think a more expensive laptop would give me this issue...

It seems, that some sort of security is enabled in BIOS (Secure Boot?). Please referer to User Manual, page 7. Turn off your laptop and press Novo Button. Your laptop will turn on and Novo Menu will be displayed. Please go to Bios Setup and look for security settings. BTW. You can create an installation media using Windows Media Creation Tool.

Hi! I'm having an issue with my new laptop and I really hope someone can help me with possible solutions or at least explanations. Thank you in advance for reading about my problem  In short, I've recently purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 520S laptop, with the following specs: Intel® Core? i7-7500U 2.70 GHz, Kaby Lake, 14", Full HD, IPS, 8GB, 256GB SSD, nVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB I was looking for a good compromise between mobility and performance (with a little bit of gaming capacity thrown in), and this is the best I could find within my budget. And, while overall the laptop works as well as I'd imagined, I'm having a really frustrating problem on the gaming front.Specifically, while playing a rather old game (Mass Effect 1, for what it's worth), the laptop gets hot (to very hot) exactly in the much needed WASD keyboard area, thus rendering the game nearly unplayable. Now, I fully understand that this is nowhere near a gaming laptop, but we're talking about a 10+ year old game! Not only that, but I've played the same game before, on a significantly lower configuration, with nearly no issues at all. Actually, I've played many games, on laptops with weaker processors and integrated graphics, and I haven't experienced this much heat.So... has anyone encountered this issue with a similar laptop? And, if so, can anything be done about it? I find it really frustrating that I can't even play such an old game in decent conditions, not to mention disappointing...Thank ... Read more

Hi everybody, I have issue with new 520S-14IKB. I bought it 5 days ago.Installed Windows 10 and updated to latest version. Installed all drivers from Lenovo support site. Laptop freezes randomly few times a day. I can't get patternt, because it sometimes crashes while watch youtube, sometimes when swithcing windows, sometimes just by using some text editor. It just stucks, I can't click anywhere, cant switch windows with alt+tab, can't open task manager. I can move mouse and that is it.No any message, no "not responding" message. When I put it on sleep by pressing power button, and turn it on again it runs normally, as nothing happened. It is becoming really anoying because I can't find out what causes the problem. I tried everything I could find on web, also installing intel graphic driver from Intel site manually, turning off Link state power management for PCI express which I found on internet as solutions for windows 10 crashing. I am getting really desperate about this and thinking about returning laptop to my seller back. Can anybody help please? Thanks in advance.Kind regards

I hope they improved this new version with a thunderbolt connection. I also want to upgrade the native m.2 SSD for a Samsung 960 EVO so I can enable hardware encryption on it.Does anybody know which SSD is used in this model and does it already support SSD hardware encryption (TCG Opal) like the samsung does?Does this motherboard support a PCIe 3.0x4 NVMe SSD like the Samsung 960 EVO? Here are some specs: https://us.hardware.info/product/413163/lenovo-ideapad-520s-14ikbr-81bl005ymh/specifications I can't find any further info (or user manual) on this model and I can't even find the model on the Lenovo website except for the older models like 520s-IKB.  Hope someone can help me out. Thank you!

Hi all, Would love some help here. The fingerprint sensor suddenly, like literally suddenly stopped working all of a sudden. It was working maybe give and take about an hour before. I went into account settings under sign-in option to find that WINDOWS HELLO is not available for my device?! Then i went crazy all over the web trying to find a solution but to no avail. I have tried all kinds of method the web can find for me like:1) starting the cmd prompt and doing a system scan and health restore something like that which says the system is fine2)enabling the fingerprint driver in group policy3)updating the driver did not solve it4)reinstalling the driver does not help at all5)updating the laptop6)going into BIOS but could not find the driver anywhere7)renabling the driver there was no previous updates to the driver at all, it just stopped working and therefore i cannot do a rollback of the update to a previous version. o and after doing all these, i still cannot get it to work. Is there something wrong probably with the hardware?I just got the laptop about a month or so, hope this is just temporary as i quite like how this laptop is functioning for me now and would love the fingerprint function to be back. Sincerely,A lost carpex

What is happening with the BIOS updates download links for Ideapad 510-15ISK? under Drivers & Software there is no BIOS download mentioned anymore and i checked regularly during the last few days. Is there a new BIOS being prepared to fix a critical bios problem or have they been removed because Lenovo intends to stop supporting this product series and it has been tagged as End Of Life?My notebook is barely 10 months into its 2-year warranty but it wouldn't surprise me anymore, Lenovo pulled the same crap when i bought my Moto E 2015 LTE (surnia) - they stopped updates barely 6 months into my 2-year warranty.

Dell Inspiron 1525, Vista. AVG free, Adaware, Spybot S&D. Scans done weekly, no problem noted prior to this.

Daughter called me at work bent out of shape because she gets this on startup:

" The File is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum doses not match the
computer ed checksum..." All of her summer howework is on the HDD and she's no happy. She's been warned about not having backups, but she knows everything at her age...maybe this will get her attention. She says it flashes the Dell logo at start up and then goes to a black screen w/this message.
My search here kept coming up w/"IE cannot display this page...", so I thought I would start a new entry and hope somebody might have something to offer by the time I get home to look at it.

FWIW, this is a laptop on a wifi network. AVG on another computer on this network started giving a virus alert yesterday, (mentioning smitfraud), AVG scan found nothing, Panda online scan found nothing, and Spybot found nothing. That was my project for this weekend, but I guess it goes onto the back burner now. I do not know if there is a relationship between these two issues.

Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

hello this morning i turned my laptop on and recieved this error message the file is possibly corrupt. the file header checksum does not match the computed checksum. I've tried using the recover cd and alt f10 but the error seems to kick in before i can do anything any ideas??

A:the file is possibly corrupt. the file header checksum does not match the computed ch

You need to boot from the CD. Enter BIOS setup and change boot sequence so that the CD/DVD drive is the first boot device. Then you can boot from the recovery CD.

Note, using a recovery CD will erase the entire hard disk and you will lose any documents, emails etc on the hard disk.

I have a Toshiba running Windows 7. The computer was having a lot of problems with opening files, getting on the internet, etc. It would boot up but then wouldn't do anything else. I have the Toshiba recovery media CDs which I have used in the past when the computer got a virus. I tried to use them again. This time it went through the process on CD1 but after pressing finish, it now gives an error when trying to boot.

The file may be corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computer checksum.

I tried taking the CD out and booting up and got the same error. I tried putting the CD back in and redoing it but still get the same error. Are there any suggestions?
