Yahoo Issues

Q: Yahoo Issues

I am a long time Yahoo members. I have seen the transformation of its website way back in the 90s. Recently they introduce this feature that you can chat when inside your email. But lately, I have been receiving various chat request from different usernames I do not know. My question is, is this some kind of hacking attempts with this users? Is my security already compromised since I always used the invisible mode but I still received this chat messages telling me to chat with them which I always dismiss as spams.

Preferred Solution: Yahoo Issues

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Yahoo Issues

I don't know if I would describe it as spam. It seems more like trolls trying to get you to go to porn sites and stuff like that. I usually click on ignore and it gives the option to report as spam so I do that too. But sometimes I get contacted by people who know who I am because of my blog but I don't know them. So I just ask questions like who are you and how do you know me. Sometimes it's someone I want to talk to, sometimes not.

I have a Yahoo account for which I am experiencing the following problems:

* Unable to add file attachments
* Unable to reply to incoming emails
* Unable to send outgoing emails

When I try to perform any of these functions the session simply hangs, although I am able to cancel out of the particular screen I am in and return to the previous one. I recently experienced some problems with Yahoo Companion which I have now removed from my PC.

Other info:
* McAfee Internet Security Suite 2004 v6.0 installed
* Use Tiscali Boradband
* Use MS Internet Explorer v6.0

Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Any assistance gratefully recived!

Many thanks,

I need to know who can help me regain access to my yahoo account. Yahoo doesn't seem to provide a solution and there is no one to talk to. Who can guide me? My yahoo ID exists, it was registered by me, but it tells me wrong password. However, it does not let me reset my password because when I enter my yahoo ID, it tells me "We don't recognize this email". When I ask them to text me my ID, I receive it so it exists. Yet, it is not recognized for a reason I cannot understand... Please help!

A:Yahoo mail issues

I had a similar issue to this a few years back. Yahoo finally replied to my "backup address" that I had somehow violated their TOS (Terms of Service) and would not explain further. I simply abandoned the account, as it was not my main communication channel, but only to access "Yahoo Groups." I had noticed that some of my subscribed groups had been mysteriously disappearing prior to this. When I created a new Yahoo ID it also disappeared within days as well.

I don't trust Yahoo at all as a result and have had nothing to do with them since. You get what you PAY FOR, and since you don't pay for it, they can revoke that "privilege" at any time for any reason without warning!

Is anyone else having problems with their Yahoo EMail accounts. I have had my account for over five years with some annoying issues along the way but never anything too horrendous and two days ago when I tried to log in I got a message telling me that I had to change my password because my email account had been "compromised".

I find this hard to believe since no one uses my computer and I have it protected by a 128-bit hexadecimal rotating encryption password and biometrics (yeah, I know I have too much time on my hands). I also run virus and malware scans at least twice a day so I doubt anything bad got onto my computer and is hijacking the Yahoo site but it could happen.

How about it everyone, is anyone else here experiencing problems with their Yahoo EMail account or am I the only one? If I didn't have over five years of correspondence, contacts, and everything else in my Yahoo account I would just close it and move over to GMail but I don't really want to make my life harder than it is. Thanks!

I am having trouble playing euchre on Yahoo! games. When I click the link to join a Lounge, the window has a red x instead of the menu for all the tables. It has something to do with Javascript not running I think. I have installed every Windows update available using the program and freshly installed IE6. No luck. Any ideas to a fix would be appreciated. Thanks

For the last week, I have been unable to send new emails or reply to emails in my Yahoo account. When I click 'send', a pop up comes up saying basically to contact Yahoo Customer Care as an unknown error has occured.
Well Yahoo's Customer Care hasn't helped me at all! I tried doing as they suggested and have cleared all history, cookies, cache, and updated my Java...and it's still not working.
Could there be some sort of virus or something on my computer interfering? It's not just my one Yahoo account...it's also my husband's Yahoo account...but Hotmail works no problem...I'm lost!
I'm including a HijackThis log and hoping someone can look it over and let me know if they see anything fishy going on there.

This might be the culprit:

O2 - BHO: CBrowserHelperObject Object - {CA6319C0-31B7-401E-A518-A07C3DB8F777} - C:\Program Files\Dell\BAE\BAE.dll

Uninstall it from your Programs and Features.

I have persistent problems with Yahoo services, both email and with my FLickr account.  At times, Flickr is very slow.  These are the only services with which I have issues (now that Comcast reset something in my network that fixed the YouTube freezes.)  However, Flickr and my emal are still problems.  They are very slow at times, and my mail has crashed a few times.  Today while trying to start an email, the program froze and I couldn't do anything.  I switched to my Flickr account (was already signed in) and I got an HTML layout page of the Flickr site.
What kind of scenarios could cause this issue?  This has happened a few times in the past months.
If you aren't sure what I mean by an HTML page,  It basically looks like the page (not the code) before any CSS rules are applied.
I can upload an image but can't find a way to do that from the present screen.

That causes problems with attachments in Windows Mail,
although I haven't seen anything about problems in Yahoo
being caused by it. The only real cure for WM is to
uninstall IE8.

Hi there, I was introduced to this site by someone on another board. I have an issue with YM as well and thought I'd piggy back this thread to avoid cluttering the board. I can also say that YM seems to shut down on its own and leaves no error message. I've been in mid-conversation with someone and it just goes. I believe this has also led to the issue I detail below:

A few days ago, I got booted off Messenger (for the umpteenth time) and when I logged back in, I lost the graphics on my avatar and emoticons. I also lost all archived messages prior to Oct 20 - the day everything blew off.

But here's the thing...the functionality for achiving is still working because it's saved all messages after Oct 20 and as far as the emoticons go, the box is there and if I roll the cursor over it, I can see the code for the emoticons. So I don't think I've really lost anything except the visuals.

I found the Messenger logs on my hard drive. I can e-mail them to whomever if that will help.

I've written in a couple of months ago with this same issue, but it never was resolved. So I thought I'd try again.......

The drop down menus on my Yahoo e-mail no longer work. Every time I click "Move" or "Forward", nothing happens. The same is true when I click on "Compose" or "Check Mail". It just sits there. Also, any e-mail that I open up is blank in the body of the message. I just downloaded IE7, so I don't know if that is the problem or not. I also installed McAfee Security Center from Comcast (since it was free), but then I couldn't even connect to the Internet so I had to uninstall it. Since I've done both of those things, my internet seems "different". OS: Win XP. Thanks!

A:Yahoo E-mail Issues

I would try uninstalling Yahoo e-mail and reinstalling it (I'm talking about yahoo messenger). If you haven't downloaded messenger, do it now and see if your e-mail works correctly now.

IE 7 could be a problem. Try going to the Control Panel, click Internet Options, click the Advanced tab, then click the "Reset" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Good luck..you could also ditch IE 7 altogether and use Mozilla Firefox instead....www.firefox.com

Try this and see it it works. This was given to me by Bob C.
If you click on a hyperlink in a web page and only a blank window appears,

Go to Start / Run
Then enter regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Click Ok when finished

If that single change does not resolve the problem, repeat the process by running the following additional entries:
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

There have been several instances where the previous tip using regsrv32 does not solve the problem with hyperlinks not working.

In this case try:

Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools / Internet Options
Click on the Programs tab
Click on the Reset Web Settings button
Bob Cerelli

I useed all oh the registry fixes but they didn't work and reset the all anyway, but the one that worked for me was the "reset web settings"
Good luck

Is there any way to make my webcam on yahoo perform at more frames per second. It's a little laggy and I would enjoy if it performed faster...Thanks.

A:Yahoo Messanger and Webcam Issues.

Hi Blackbird1821

I would expect that the webcam's frame rate would depend on the quality of your Internet connection, so long as your PC isn't overloaded due to a smallish amount of system memory - or a great abundance of background processes.

You can easily check if it's your PC that is overloaded (rather than a challenged Internet connection). On the Windows taskbar, right-click and select Task Manager. Click on the Applications tab, to see how many apps you have open, make a note of the number. Then click on the Processes tab, and place a checkmark in the "Show processes from all users" box, and write down the number of processes running. Now click on the "Performance" tab, and write down the number for the "Commit Charge" Total - also write down the number for the "Physical Memory" Total. If your total number of apps and processes is well over 50, you've a lot going on, and will likely require a fair amount of memory (1gb or better) & a fast cpu to keep all those processes happy. Systems start to experience serious slowing when the "Commit Charge" Total is more than the "Physical Memory" Total -- because extensive (in fact, nearly constant) page-file activity drags performance to a crawl [your system is constantly fetching data from the hard drive, rather than system memory].

Too many processes wanting to share the Internet, of course, will also slow your frame rate. Try to have Yahoo be the... Read more

I recently had to format my PC in early Feb. and DLed Yahoo/AIM earlier last week, however I've been having issues with my friend's display images.

Yahoo won't display my friend's profile pictures, just a black square. I can upload my own pic fine however but can't see anyone else's profile pic. I've tried the following to fix it:

-Reinstalled Flash
-Reinstalled Yahoo
-Disabled Windows Firewall
-Disabled Avast
-Cleared Yahoo Messenger's cache

AIM is a bit weirder. When I use the AIM client I can't see anyone's buddy icon or set my own for the most part, for some reason it will let me use the sample pics that came with Windows 7 as my buddy icon, everything else is a no go. And when I chat with them their buddy icons are red Xs as well as smilies. However it seems to work fine when I use the web version of AIM. And if that wasn't odd enough if I use a different AIM screen name everything works just fine. I can set a buddy icon from any pic on my PC. And everything else works without a hitch I'm assuming. As for things I did tried to fix it:

-Reinstalled Flash
-Reinstalled AIM
-Disabled Windows Firewall
-Disabled Avast

Any advice? Not sure what info you need, but my OS is Windows 7.

Okay, I've never actually seen this problem before, so I have not clue what is causing it. If I close the lid on my laptop (sleep mode) then open it up again, all of my messanger programs will have gone offline and will refuse to let me sign in again, giving me an error message with a trouble shoot button. Sadly, the trouble shoot doesn't seem to know what the problem is. Restarting my computer sometimes fixes this, but it is a problem that just started this week.
The other wierd thing about this is I can get to anything on MSN's front page, but if I try to go to hotmail, then I get the classic 'we could not find this site' screen. It will do the same with chatango, yet I can read all of my webcomics on iGoogle, or from their main pages, and I can visit deviantart just fine, as well as youtube.

The MNS Error Message has this in the details:
Error Code: 80072ee7

I don't know what's up. I have virus protection software, I even run Melware Bytes. I've also done disk clean up and defraged recently, and that didn't seem to fix it either.

Please help if you can.

Yahoo Messenger 9 version, yahoo.co.in e-mail, Yahoo answers, etc. do not run/open on my PC. On attempting to log into Messenger 9 I get an error message: “Please click Try Again to re-enter your ID and password. If you have forgotten you ID or password, click Sign-in Problems”.

Earlier they would open only if they were the first programs I switched on when I would start my PC else I would get an error message “Messenger encountered a connection problem. Please check the network connection and then click "Try Again" (81003004)”.

My computer system: AMD 64 3200+ 2.01Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, Windows Professional XP-2, IE 6 with Cookies Enabled, MS Office 2003, BSNL Broadband, Java (TM) 6 update 11, Java (TM) 6 update 7, no Startup programs other than AVG Free version 8. I am based in India.

I have checked with those using the same broadband connection as to not facing any problem with Yahoo.

Yahoo FT Server and Yahoo! Messenger are provided as exceptions in my Windows Firewall. In IE6 under Security Sites I have not blocked any website.

Where could the problem be?

see post belowI want to add a few updates.  I did a virus scan this morning and while it didn't find anything, it took three times longer than normal.  I followed that with a MalwareBytes scan and it detected three items, all related to Vosteran, which I thought was completely off my computer.  Obviously not.  I haven't downloaded any new things.  Here is what MalwareBytes found the three items listed below.  I am doing a second scan but this time the scan is including the rootkit. Last week I installed WOT add-on extensions to Chrome and IE.  I already had it installed with FireFox (my default.)  I see that two of the PUP items are related to Chrome, which was the browser with which I was having Vosteran problems. I hope I didn't screw anything up running AV and Malwarebyte scans.  Just to be certain, I will run a second DDS scan and post it below. Yesterday when I opened a browser, it went to YouTube on its own.  Malwarebytes Anti-Malwarewww.malwarebytes.orgScan Date: 12/17/2014Scan Time: 7:06:42 AMLogfile: MalwareBytes_Log.txtAdministrator: YesVersion: Database: v2014.12.17.01Rootkit Database: v2014.12.14.01License: FreeMalware Protection: DisabledMalicious Website Protection: DisabledSelf-protection: DisabledOS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1CPU: x64File System: NTFSUser: ToolooseScan Type: Threat ScanResult: CompletedObjects Scanned: 377748Time Elapsed: 26 min, 14 secMemory: EnabledStartup... A:Stolen Email Passwords and various Yahoo Service Issues

As instructed, I ran a DDS scan and am posting a new thread.
A few weeks ago I downloaded a browser hijacker Vosteran from sourceforge when I downloaded Filezilla.  That was taken care of here at Bleeping Computer.  The moderator who helped me told me to change my sensitive passwords and i immediately did so for online banking.  A few days later I was informed that a credit card was flagged as there was some suspicious activity reported.   I contacted the bank and filed a report and they cancelled the card.  The bank caught the activity before they were able to use the card.
A few days later I started having various Yahoo problems.  I have a few Yahoo email accounts.  Last week two of my email account passwords were compromised.  I reset the passwords.  Today, a third account was compromised.  And two days ago someone got into my Wordpress account and I changed that password as well.
As for my Yahoo issues (I use Firefox - Windows 7 OS) 3=4 times now Firefox crashed while I was writing email.  Yesterday I got an error msg after the crash, something about network issues.
I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but I got curious and checked Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Log > System and note HUNDREDS of the same item.  I posted one example of this in my initial "Am I Infected" post.

I am having trouble with YahooPops and Yahoo! Mail account. I download and install the software and use my LATEST version of Windows Live Mail. After that I keep getting error messages. I use pop3, smtp and my username as eg. [email protected] I enter the full address, even the @yahoo part too. It asks to check authenticate option in the settings so I did. I even tried changing my zone to Asia because I heard some people on the message board there talking about it. That didn't work. I get my gmail to work but why does Yahoo! have to be so complex? Anyway, if anyone can assist, please let me know.

For years, I used Outlook Express and Outlook. I preferred to use Outlook Express because as a mail program, it did everything I wanted with ease. The interface was intuitive. But, I was forced to change to Outlook because my AVG Internet Security (virus/spam) program would not work with Outlook Express. Outlook has far too many convoluted options and unnecessary 'mini programs' built into it that I have no use for. It's a mess.

So, I opted to use Yahoo Mail Classic, (NOT THE NEW PAID VERSION).

My problems with Yahoo Mail Classic are these:

1. It does not display attached images (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) within the body of messages that I receive from family and friends automatically. Instead, Yahoo forces me to click on "download images" links to download the images to my hard drive. I have to click several different links in order for me to simply 'Open' the image so that I can view it. That is a waste of time and totally rediculous. Neither Outlook Express nor Outlook required such a procedure. And, it's even worse (even rediculous) when I get an email that has 8 or 10 images attached! I have to go through that silly process for each image!

2. MAIN ISSUE: The silly "Compose" interface in (sending a new) Yahoo email.

Why did the programmers decide to make the "Compose" window the size of a postage stamp?? It's not even re-sizeable!! Are they crazy, or just sadistic. I can't even see what my messages will lo... Read more

Hello all,

My wifes lappy is acting up again. (Compaq Presario Celeron 2.3 ghz 256 ram winXP SP2)

Pop ups begin to appear wildly, then Yahoo Messenger and AIM stopped working (when you open the programs, they appear for a lil bit then disappear and never load)

Ran Ad-aware and Spybot ad cleaned somestuff off, checked firewall setings, all seem good and working good. Wireless internet connection is good. NAV up to date.

Checked the source code on some of the pop ups and they had Zeno all over them. Searched for instructions on removing Zeno, followed a couple of them and appears like Zeno is gone.

Still get a few pop ups here and there but Yahoo and AIM are still not working.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I recently reformatted my harddrive. I installed my mouse, a Logitech first wheel mouse. Then I installed the newest from of Yahell Messenger. Now my mouse works with all other applications as far as scrolling. But it doesn't work whenever I open a message window and try to use it to scroll. I have reinstalled both the mouse and Yahell mesenger. What do you think I could do to resolve this minor annoyance?

A:Solved: Scroll mouse issues in Yahoo Messenger

I'm hearing this for the first time. Never heard that a single application not responding to a scroll mouse. I had a similar problem but that was in Linux. Now thats fine too.
I searched regarding this and got a link but I dont think it would do all that is required. But its related to the mouse events and so I guess checking it wont harm that much too...

Yahoo! Help

Mostly all such problems would be solved by just re-installing the applications. The file is not too huge so re-install can be still an option. What latest version do you've? Have you downloaded the latest Beta version or the complete version???

Anyways try this and hope it will help you out...

Hi, I'm having trouble loading pages such as facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers and upon further research all pages that have some form of login function. It is not a malware problem, it is not a slow internet connection, it is not a registry issue. I've run ASC scans and CCleaner, none of these are on my list of banned sites. There are no viruses on my computer, of this I am sure as the hard drive is two days old and fully protected, or on any of those in the house.

Facebook is particular takes several minutes to load then appears text only. I cannot navigate anywhere around the site from this text only version, nor can I engage in any interactions.

This issue is widespread throughout my household. All other computers in the house (2 PCs on Vista, a laptop on XP and a Mac with the latest... Mac OS thing) have the same issue. I'm at my wit's end.

Please help.

Edit: I should also state that I use Google Chrome, the other PC and Laptop use Firefox and the Mac uses Safari. There is no lack of disparity in search engines.

A:[SOLVED] Issues loading facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers...

If it affects all your computers on the network, then there is something wrong with your network, or your ISP. Have you turned off routers and modem, then turn just the modem back on, and after all it's lights have come back on, and stop blinking (this can take up to 10 min) turn your router on. Once it's on, then turn your computer one and try the site. If it's working then continue with each computer, one at a time. If this doesn't help, you need to call your ISP about the issue so that they can see if they have a problem with your modem, or their network.

I have looked over other threads concerning Yahoo Messenger voice issues, but none seem similar to the current problems I am experiencing. At the moment I am using the current version of YM for the US and while I can access chat rooms, I can't use audio nor receive audio from other users. When I first enter a chat room, voice is switched off as default, so when I switch it on I occasionally receive the error message 'the attempt to connect to the voice server was canceled.' The audio toolbar will appear below, but the talk and volume options are greyed out, like so:

I cannot interact with any of the voice options whatsoever.

I have fully uninstalled and reinstalled YM several times and still experience the same problem and under connections in preferences it is selected as 'connect directly to the internet' as opposed to proxy servers which appears to solve other similar problems, but makes no difference in my predicament.

If anyone here has experienced this issue in the past any suggestions of what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Update: This apparently is not caused by problems on my PC, as I tried Yahoo Messenger via my laptop and experienced the same problem. Could this be issues with my account or my geographical location? I'm using the international US version in the UK.

My Yahoo home page and related yahoo pages won't display ads, does anyone know how to fix this. I have uninstalled IE8 reinstalled it, restored advanced settings and reset internet explorer it worked for a short while after i did this now its playing up again. Really annoying, I get the usual diagnose internet connection and of course ther is nothing wrong with it. I forgot to say its windows 7 pro I am running, I would update to IE9 but I hate it if only they kept the layout the same as IE8
Thank you in advance

A:My Yahoo home page and related yahoo pages won't display ads

Just Yahoo? If so it is probably their problem. They have lots of them. It may resolve or may not. That's the beauty of Yahoo.

If you see it on other sites then it is something with your system. Maybe a program you have is blocking ads from displaying. I know I had an issue with SpywareBlaster doing that.

Hi Folks,

I have had a recurring issue with my Windows 7 computer redirecting Google, Yahoo, and sometimes Facebook to a Yahoo Developer page (or a generic error page on iPhones and iPads on the network). Once it starts, it sometimes stops on its own after a couple minutes, sometimes it requires a power cycle of all networked devices (modem, router, a printer, 2 iPhones, and iPad and my PC).

I've had Norton continuously since purchasing the computer, run anti-malware bytes and SuperAntispyware, and none of them have been able to locate an issue.

I even tried re-installing Windows 7, but I think perhaps because I have an upgrade disk rather than the original I didn't get a full purge and the problem continued before I returned any backed up files onto it..

I also removed my PC from the network for about a month and never experienced the problem with my other devices. I'm fairly positive it's the PC, but I can't figure out the issue and am hoping someone here can help.

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you do the following:

Download Security Check from here.
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Search.
A logfile will automatically open after the scan has finished.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[R1].txt as well.

Please include the checkup.txt, JRT.txt and adwCleaner[R1].txt in your next reply
