Winfixer got me, blank screen Safe Mode

Q: Winfixer got me, blank screen Safe Mode

Ran Spybot and Adaware.

When I try to boot into SAFE mode, I get a blank screen. Tried to launch explorer.exe from there, but it kept stopping that process.

Preferred Solution: Winfixer got me, blank screen Safe Mode

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have here my Mother in Laws C670-14D and its developed an issue whereby when you power up the screen is blank. it does have backlight and you hear the windows startup sound that you get before you login as windows starts up.

I can see the screen if I start in safe mode, in fact I'm using the PC in safe mode as I type this.

I did hae a similar problem in the past with another Toshiba laptop and that was windows 8, the issue was connected with power save settings but I've tried all of those and no luck. Also tried the remove battery suggestions, nothing has worked.

I'm guessing windows has done an update that is causing this but I'm at a loss and google has turned up nothing.

Running Windows 10 Home edition 64 bit

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Very similar to the following problem but i do not have a raid, and it seems that this PC has a raid and i don't, plus it was never really determined what the actual solution was.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/596146-solved-windows-cant-boot-black.html
The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.

All 3 safe mods work fine.

Ran chkdsk /r in recovery.
Ran proper fixboot procedure.

Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.

The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AmdK8
Fips
nod32drv

Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.

I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.

Anymore information for me, or from me that you need, i would be extremely happy.
Thanks for your time.

So basically my Nvdia was acting up and a tutorial told me to uninstall the drivers in safe mode and reinstall. but my BIOS menu wouldnt show up so I followed another method using msconfig that manually launched it into safe mode. I didn't realize that it launched in safe mode everytime until you disable it. unfortunately I can't disable it as the computer sends no image to my screen and is blank. so if there is a method to basically force your pc to start in normal mode I could disable the settings and all would be good.

Hiya all! I have big problems here. First of all, Im trying to troubleshoot a toshiba m45-s169 laptop with windows xp sp2 home in it. The problem was that the screen wouldnt come up until I logged in (you could see a dim image while booting up and an external screen works, so I guess is not the video card nor the inverter since I tried a new one)... so I changed the adapter settings to "auto" and after that I get a blank screen with the backlight on right after windows loading (I can hear the sound when the desktop is fully loaded though). So I try to boot under safe mode but it freezes halfway, still in text mode. I have tried all the options under F8 and none works except Last known good config and normal boot, but I cant see anything. Can anyone help me? Thanks
UPDATE: I took the hd apart and ran a chkdsk from another laptop. It found no errors.

Alright guys

I am having a few problems with windows 7 and I was wondering if there was anyway to fix it without doing a fresh install.  Before I start I must say that I have not changed any of the hardware so I don't know why I am getting this problem now.  My windows 7 home was working then I loaded up a game to play and it froze so I restarted the machine, now all I am getting is a black screen after the windows logo,,

I have even tried to go into safe mode and I get the same problem as above.  I can't even repair it because it doesn't find anything wrong with it..

I believe it must have something to do with the display settings within windows itself.. So I am wondering if I remove the display driver and reboot if that will solve it. If so how do I do it through the command prompt in repair mode??

Please someone help me

A:Windows 7 Blank Screen, Even In Safe Mode - How To Fix?

Hi I had this problem its Windows Explorer not running, to get it running so you can start sorting the problem open Task Manager Ctrl, shift, Esc, then file, New task type EXPLORER & run (enter) all is then as normal. I changed graphics drivers, No good! Microsoft give registry edits they didn't work!! So i ran a full update from a current version, my original install was win 7 & i had installed sp1 so you must run that version. It was run as an upgrade from the running OS so no data was lost.

Others reported that the registry fixes worked  but for me  after several days on & off on this machine I found it to be the best way.

Hi,

My computer (Windows XP Home) has recently been afflicted with a number of annoying viruses. Most recently, well the only one I know the name of, was the Antivirus XP 2008 virus. I came to this forum for help on uninstalling, and I utilized the malware program. My computer was scanned, and I thought all of the virus was removed. After doing this I used McAfee to scan for viruses. McAfee found a LOT and after the scan was completed, there were 4 viruses that could not be removed or Quarantined. I shut the computer down ( I needed to go to work) but I was able to do things normally at that time, I thought my problems were solved.

However, when I returned this evening - I turned my computer on, the windows logo appeared, and then it took me to a login screen (which I don't usually need to do). I had no idea what my password would be so I just pressed enter and that seemed to bring success. Unfortunately, after the welcome noise sounded, the screen just went blank and never loaded - NOTHING. I pressed ctrl alt dlt NOTHING. I can't right click either. The hourglass came next to the arrow every once in awhile so i would get excited that something would happen... but again NOTHING.

I turned off and pressed F8 to get into safe mode. NOTHING. Basically the only thing i can do on my computer is turn it on and off by pressing the button, and move the mouse around the screen. That's it. Please Help :-)

Thanks so much

First I'd like to apologize in advance if my grammar and typing suck; currently on my iPad since I have no pc at the moment.

Computer info from what I can remember:
Dell XPS 210 running XP media edition sp2(Before said problem below)
3 gigs RAM
500 gig HD
1.8Ghtz intel 2
ATI Radeon x1300 pro

So today after I got home from class I decided to install MS Office 2010. Went for it but an error message popped up telling me I needed to be running sp3(I know it's been a while since I updated). So I do that and say "whatahell ill upload my video drivers too"(hadn't done this n a while too). The sp3 update goes smoothly as far as I can tell but the driver update shoots an error near the end. I'm seriously sorry but I can't remember exactly what it said since its been like 4 hours since this occurred. Anyways I press ok and the video driver update just let's me know I need to restart my pc as well as the sp3 update (no they weren't done at the same time. I did the sp3 first and waited for it to finish before staring the video drive update.).

Before doing this, a bad ache in my stomach came up in my stomach and reminded to make a recovery point in case **** hits the fan. Why do I say bad ache? Some 5 years ago, at separate occasions, a windows update ended in a bsod and a video driver update in the same shoes. They both caused massive data lost and a full reinstall action

So I make the recovery point and restart. Dell logo shows up then... Read more

A:blank screen on boot up but safe mode works

While booted into the safe mode try looking for any error or warning messages in the Event Viewer, which is in Administrative Tools in your Control Panel. You click either application or system on the left side in Event Viewer, then I do click view, filter, then click to uncheck the box for information, apply and ok, so then only warnings and errors will show on the right. Then just double on one of those to open to see the details of it. Maybe try to run the system file checker tool in safe mode too, click start, run, type in this; sfc /scannow , and include that space before the / too.

Hello, ddad62.
My name is etavares and I will be helping you with this log.

Here are some guidelines to ensure we are able to get your machine back under your control.

Please do not run any unsupervised scans, fixes, etc.  We can work against each other and end up in a worse place.
Please subscribe to this topic if you have not already done so.  Please check back just in case, as the email system can fail at times.
Just because your machine is running better does not mean it is completely cleaned.  Please wait for the 'all clear' from me to say when we are done.
Please reply within 3 days to be fair to other people asking for help.
When in doubt, please stop and ask first.  There's no harm in asking questions!

Step 1

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.

If you are using Windows 8 consult How to use the Windows 8 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt to enter System Recovery Command prompt.

If you are using Vista or Windows 7 enter System Recovery Options.

To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:

Restart the computer.

Neither Ctrl+Alt+Del nor Ctrl+Shft+Esc work to bring up the Task Manager. I am able to boot into Safe Mode just fine, but of course unable to uninstall the Windows updates to the .NET framework.

I have tried System Restore several times now, both from the Safe Mode and from the start-up recovery options accessed via F8 upon system startup. From the same menu, I have attempted Startup Repair but alas, Windows does not detect any problems (go figure, right? ).

I have ran the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool to check if my hardware was going bad, and upon completion, it rebooted, once again, to a blank screen after being prompted to log in. Mouse works, nothing else does. Upon pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del I am greeted with the following message after waiting roughly 5 minutes:

"The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."

^Pressing ESC makes the message disappear along with my mouse, so that I am staring at a completely blank screen.

I am on my friend's MacBook Pro right now, I'm really hoping someone can help, but I mu... Read more

Hello, guys!
Yesterday I've bought a new PC and successfully installed Windows 8.1.
After a few installations of software (vlc, utorrent...) I've had a blue error screen, after that I can't even get into login screen, windows just won't load "an unexpected i/o error has occurred 0xc00000e9"
I've tried to boot from usb with my windows 8.1, but after Asrock logo (sometimes even without it ) it is just a blank screen.
I can't get into safe mode either ( don't know how. F8 won't work ). First time I've managed to do this while booting the same usb, but now it won't work.
I've tried to install windows 10 on usb and oh yes... it booted after almost 2-3 hours of waiting and everything was very slow. I could not install it due to mbr error. Windows sees my SSD and HDD, so they must be fine, right?
So I installed a new copy of windows 10 into my usb ( gpt, fat32 ).
And... now I can't get past black screen after booting. I see basic screen with windows 10 + memory test. I select windows 10 install or recovery tools, I see Asrock logo and... black screen.
Same with windows 7. "Windows is loading files" and then there is just a black screen.
My motherboard is Asrock z170 Pro4s.
Help me please, I don't know what to do.
I am very sorry for my english.

Dell Optiplex running XP SP3. On boot just goes to a blank (but glowing) screen after the DELL startup screen.

Can get the boot options screen, but trying to boot into safe move it hangs on SR.SYS

Booted into recovery console and ran chkdsk which reported it had found errors. Did fixmbr and fixboot, but still get the same problem.

What to do next?

Yesterday I ran Malware Bytes and McAfee because I started to get random pop-ups when I normally do not. Both programs showed no problems. I also cleaned the disk space, which had not been done in a while. This morning, all icons were missing from the screen--it was just a blank black screen, so I shut down by pressing the power button. When I turned the laptop back on and I try to boot in Normal and Safe mode, it will not do so. With Normal mode, it goes to a blank black screen and does not even go to the "Windows Loading" screen. For Safe mode, it begins to list a bunch of drivers, etc, but it seems to get stuck with only half the screen filled with the list and will not move past that point.

I wish I could install HijackThis and run it as it has worked for me in the past, but I cannot even get my laptop to load.

I do not have an XP installation disc, but do have the Recovery Console on my boot up menu. I have tried running ChkDsk, FixMBR, FixBoot but to no avail.

Help!

Sounds liek you have an overheating issue. When is the last time you cleaned out your fans? Regooed the processor?

If thats not the cause, then I would say its probably a virus or malware, or the power supply is on its way out.

Cannot boot in safe mode or VGA mode or last known good config after installing an Nvidia 91.xx driver upgrade. Graphics card is an Nvidia Ti4200 AGP card. When trying to do normal windows boot it gets as far as the Windows splash screen , then goes blank forever. In a safe mode boot attempt the last line printed to screen is "WINDOWS/System32/DRIVERS/agp440.sys", then it hangs there forever.

Swapped to a known good Nvidia 6600 graphics card. Same symptoms. 6600 card again proves fine back in its own PC.

Am able to get to windows recovery console using Win XP CD. Disabling and re-enabling NVSvc and agp440 services does not help. chkdsk c: /r found some error and fixed them, but no improvement. The service VgaSave is enabled.

Nvidia tech support says there's nothing about their drivers that should interfere with Windows booting into Safe Mode with VGA graphics. But something has screwed that up.

My win XP Pro CD is SP1, but the pc is at SP2 with all latest updates as aof a few days ago. I do have an SP2 Cd from another pc.

If I could just get to the System Restore screen I could fall back to a good restore point, but no display!! Helllp!

Thermaltake 430W power supply model XP550NP

No pci or other cards installed, just mouse, kybd, two optical drives

A:Blank screen even in safe mode after Nvidia driver upgrade

Still no progress. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Need to get my PC back up. Is there a log accessible from DOS or REcovery console that would show what offending file is mising or stopping the boot? Can anyone aim me at a Microsoft article on things like this?

Any input on what might be causing these problems will be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys. The problem first began when i was using google chrome and my laptop just hung and went completely unresponsive. When i force shutdown and restarted it started fine but the next time i opened chrome it hung again. This time the restart in normal mode just went from the windows logo to a blank screen. When i stared in safe mode and ran my avg command line scanner it found 106 infections but wasnt clear on its actions against it. Whenever i run this scan i can start it on normal mode again and seems to function normally but clicking on chrome brings back those problems. when i tried using firefox it slowed down and went unresponsive too. After a few days of normal usage i started getting BSODs quite frequently (usually a few minutes after normal startup and desktop access...and today after happening twice in normal mode ive only been able to see my screen in safe mode. the command line scanner brings the same results. Cant seem to do a boot time scan with avast as it just goes from the windows logo to blank screen. Any advice?

Hello,

I just wanted to say 'thank you' in advance for any recommendations that you can provide.

My computer was infected with the "Brave Security" spyware removal program last night. The small red icon with a white 'x' popped up in the right hand toolbar displaying a warning message, the Task Manager was disabled, the computer slowed down considerably, I had trouble connecting to the Internet and the desktop wallpaper changed to a black background with a"Your Computer is in Danger" warning in the lower right hand corner.

I didn't realize that this infection was an entire 'program' so I tried to fix it on my own (before I ran across this website). I managed to uninstall the "Brave Security" program from the Program files and I also ran the Microsoft Anti-spyware program which detected and removed some of the Trojans and spyware files.

Just to be safe, I did a search on the Internet and I found the following website: http://www.pchell.com/support/spyaxe.shtml. I followed the first recommendation to download the following programs on to my desktop, extracting and install them.
SmitRem by NoahdFear - Tool to remove Spyaxe, SpySheriff, PSGuard, WinHound, and other issues
Ewido Anti-Malware - Highly recommended anti-malware, anti-spyware program

I have recently used Driver Genius to update some drivers and had a power outage while installing the video card drivers. After the power was restored I could not boot normally (it would go blank after the loading screen goes away before the log on screen comes up.) So I boot into safe mode and install the drivers there, and then restart. It worked after about 12 tries.... Now, it will not load normally at all anymore.
While checking the system error logs, I find that (from 9/26/09 - 9/27/09) I am missing quite a few catalog files in the "system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}" directory. I also have many DCOM errors...

See "SysErrors.txt" in attachments
I have also ran chkdsk with many errors (I assume they are)

See "ChkDskOutput.txt" in attachments.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another possible culprit... Leftover video card drivers.... While I thought that my nVidia card somehow fried when the power went out, I put my ATI card in and tried to install the drivers for it, but to no avail... Oddly enough, the only way I could get it to work was by manually installing the drivers. While doing an automated install, I received the error message "Severe: Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit."

What could be wrong???

I have tried it with both nVidia and ATI cards and I must disable both in order to boot correctly.. I installed them seperatly so there wouldn't be any conflicts.... How am I supposed to get my video card working If I can't enable it...

i followed instructions for removing winfixer (18610 including downloading Hijack This and Vundo) but when i rebooted in safe mode, my computer would only go to the black screen with "Safe Mode" in each corner, no further. i couldn't get to Vundo in order to run it, nor could i use Hijack This (so no log). i tried to reboot, but unfortunately used msconfig to set safe mode so it reboots still in Safe Mode and only up to the black screen.

when it starts, there is a pop up that begins with something like Running in Safe Mode and Yes and No buttons at the bottom but it shuts down before i can click on it or read the middle. now what? how do i undo (mcsonfig) Safe Mode and how do i get past the black screen?

i am using my kids' computer but urgently need mine for work. i will be highly grateful for your help.

If you need to get access to your PC I suggest building the UBCD4Win which will give you full read/write access to your PC allowing you to remove any malware. To build you will need your WinXP installation CD with SP1 or SP2 integrated or use the I386 which was part of the preinstall again SP1 or SP2 will need to be integrated.

Hi

Someone told me this is going to be a hardware problem? Just in case not, and it is software related, please direct me to the right person? I am also currently running the thread for some bad trojan I picked up

Trj.ZPACK.GEN

at the following url: http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/954912-trj-zpack-gen.html

There are hijack reports there, as well as dds.scr logs.

Today, I tried to boot up my PC. It flashes the usual Acer boot screen, the cursor flashes at the top left corner, as always and then nothing...blank.

In safe mode, the last line before boot-up freezes:

multi<0>disk<0>rdisk<0>partition<2>\windows\system32\drivers\iojtcgwf.sys

I have tried the option of "last configuration of functional settings" and nothing.

My battery seems to have been fried (only ever gets to max 70%) and I thought it might be due to a power surge. To check, I let it run down last night, to recharge it this morning and see if it would charge fully. I was watching a tv series on vlc, and everything was functioning as "normal" apart from the usual issues the trojan would dole out...I was completely surprised and utterly disappointed to find that this morning I have NO computer at all, while I have been patiently waiting for the team to help me axe this damned virus. I want to scream.

PLEASE HELP ME?!

I'm new here and in hopes of getting this resolved. I just installed the new Norton Systemworks 2005 and rebooted after installation. When the boot screen got up to the blue screen with the Windows XP logo before displaying the login names where you put in your password, it just stops. I restarted a few times and waiting a few more times thinking it may need to 'finish' installing. But each time gave the same results. Finally, I went in with 'Safe Mode' and got in with no problems. Tried again in normal mode after looking around for any obvious problems (none found)... back to square one. Tried again in 'Safe Mode with Networking' and it failed like normal mode so I suspected a networking problem??? The last thing I tried which made me mad is that I tried to uninstall Norton Systemworks in 'Safe Mode' and that failed!! Anyone in these forums know the cure? :dead:

A:Unable to get to login screen, works in Safe Mode but in Safe Mode w/ Networking

Just a thought

Safe-Mode
Start \ Run \ msconfig \ diagnostic startup
disable any services attached to your most recent install and restart
should get warning next boot about using msconfig, its ok
One key service that needs to be available is the installer service
Try the uninstall, if doesn't complete
Try the uninstall string in the registry only if you know what you are doing

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Under it you will see a list of installed programs. Some don?t show up as words but you can figure out what they are by looking at their values. What you are looking for is the uninstall string. Double click that key as if you were going to modify its value. Do a CTRL + C to copy and then exit the registry editor.

Go to START \ RUN and paste the uninstall sting and hit enter. This should launch the uninstall.

Just a thought though as I am not infront of a test system at the moment. You should research this a little further so you have a clear understanding of what you can and can't do with msconfig.

or simpler yet

Safe-Mode

Start \ Programs \ Access. \ System Tools \ System Restore

Select restore point prior to install of whats giving you the problem.

Again, Good Luck

PS If you try to install it again, turn of antivirus and other open programs etc..

Start in Safe Mode and look in C:\Windows\Minidump for crash log files with a dmp extension, like Mini071008-01.dmp. Zip 4-5 of the latest ones and post here as a ZIP or RAR attachment. The log file contains information useful to determine what caused the error, most likely hardware.

anyway..the guide requires to boot into safe mode..
when i try to boot from safe mode with networking as suggested i just got this black and blank screen with mouse pointer..

Before got into safe mode , there's an option like:
windows 7/vista/server (pointer)
windows 7/vista/server
windows 7/vista/server (debug-pointer)
windows 7/vista/server (debug)
windows 7/vista/server (no slic - pointer)
windows 7/vista/server (no slic)
windows nt/2000/xp
enter command line

when i chose either one it will start windows and let me choose users . after choosing either one it just shows blank screen with pointer..
and when i leave it a few minutes a messagebox popup says "csrss.exe has stopped working" and 2 options..check online for solution or close program..
either one i chose will popup another messagebox says "runtime erorr at 216 at 004050C5". when click ok i returned to blank screen.

OS is win 7 ultimate 32bit..Can anyone help me..

Thank you in advance.

A:win 7 safe mode blank with pointer

I do have a questionSLIC as indicated above is a way of hacking a win7 OS and not part of the original. windows 7/vista/server (no slic - pointer)Where was the OS purchased or downloaded????Suggest you download Malwarebytes burn to dvd (on another comp if necessary) and run it to see if you are still infected. On Microsoft's official website, they mention that Runtime Error 216 is a problem experienced when either Windows cannot load a program, or an error message might occur when you either try to launch a Windows based program or even Internet Explorer. They attribute this run time error to the infection of a virus called the SubSeven Trojan virus and advises all its users to get a good anti virus software and clean out the problem. The runtime error 216 is actually a common problem with a lot of people and this is one of the best ways to trouble shoot it. With an anti virus software, you are able to clean out the Trojan virus and thus resume your computer to normal operations.Ken J

I unchecked the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" DUH on my part, I may have clicked on a setting that I shouldn't have. The screen went blank.

The only time that the monitor shows an image at all, is at the start up, showing the OS then gos blank. I here the windows opening music, but no image.

I tried opening in safe mode, all 3 of them.
The only thing that comes up, looks like a series of commands that have system/32 in them. Thank you...Robb

It always ends up in blank safe mode. The Windows + R key also doesnt work. I am stuck. Kindly help

Trying to hook up different monitor to computer; getting a "Not Optimum Mode" message; trying to reboot computer hoping to get to safe mode to change resolution to 1280x1024. Monitor remains blank during reboot so we can't do. (Sorry this is sort of a repost of the same problem...thought I worded it poorly before, now I know I should have just edited...)

This problem started yesterday.

I was in the middle of using Solid Works and the monitor went blank, my PC was still running, the music i still had int he background was still playing even.

The power light on the monitor is not loosing power, a short while after it seems to loose its signal from my PC it displays a standard "searching for signal" type of message, as if it was not connected at all.

After this original occurrence i restarted my computer, and it seemed to be OK while i used it for about a hour. However, later that day when i got back from class it had done it again (sometime while i was away) while it was just sitting at the desktop.

Now the screen seems to "loose signal" within a minute of turning on, unless i run in safe mode where everything seems to work fine.

Things i have tried:

Over Heating:
Video Card, CPU, RAM, the monitor itself, nothing feels even warm to the touch.

Drivers (Video):
The first thing i tried while running in safe mode was to uninstall my old drivers, and then reinstall new ones.

Resolution Issues:
I dont think it could be an issue with resolution, simply because it goes off randomly during normal operation, not at any special time

Viruses etc??:
AVG didn't pick anything up, i uninstalled AVG and got a fresh copy of the the newest version, still nothing. After that yeiled nothing, i uninstalled it and installed the lasted version of McAfee i could get my hands on (8.5i) it also found nothing.

Hello. I have a Samsung laptop with Windows 7 that when booting normally shows a blank Desktop except for the bottom bar. Although I see the mouse cursor nothing works when clicked on. Control-Alt-Delete also shows nothing. However, everything appears normal when booting in Safe Mode. I have run several virus scans which come back with nothing found (Malwarebytes, Super AntiSpyware, Eset online). Please help.

i have been having several different issues with my pc. Its a toshiba satellite a105. Seems that everytime my roomate uses it, something goes wrong. This time, i can't fix it by myself...i am not very experienced. At startup desktop flashes a few times, then disappears, leaving only my background. Boot in safe mode, and screen is blank. I can't seem to find the problem. Also note than in safe mode, that one of the administers now has a password that i did not create, and that sometimes on windows log in screen, in bottom left corner it says "turn off computer" and other times it says "turn off Laptop1". I don't know how this happened, or how to get rid of it. System restore has no checkpoints except today.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Cindy

When my PC worked fine I would get a graphics driver error but Win 7 would recover from it and I would continue as normal.
Now when I boot, my monitor recieves "no signal" from the PC. The PC boots fine except I cannot see anything. This means that I cannot format my PC because I can't see what I'm doing.
Right now I am in safe mode with network connection and I would like to know if I can format in safe mode, and how do I do this. Thanks in advance.

This isn't the type of problem you solve by reinstalling, except as a last resort.

Have you updated or reinstalled your Display driver in Device Manager? Let us know the exact device make and model and the driver version date and number you are running. If there isn't a newer one, uninstall the current one in Device Manager and reboot the PC.

To check for the driver Win7 wants, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
then Check For Windows Updates and install all Important and Optional Updates as there may also be performance patches needed for your display.

Otherwise check for the latest driver on the PC or Display device model's Support Downloads webpage.

It would be best if you choose to reinstall to boot the Win7 installation Media to Clean Install Windows 7. Let us know if this method works.
