Games crash whenever I left click and press other buttons

Q: Games crash whenever I left click and press other buttons

So I have had this problem for a while now but never really did anything about it. When I left click and hold buttons like 'shift' or 'w' simultaneously, the game I'm playing will crash and just completely exit the game. This happens usually when I spam click but will eventually crash even if I click slowly. It has only happened on two games: Minecraft and Starbound. On Minecraft, the center of the screen will show the flickering blue loading symbol and then crash. I've noticed that when I go in windowed mode, the problem does not occur; however, the screen is buggy and it will show my desktop flickering. It is really frustrating having to restart the game, so please help. Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

On this new laptop the left and right click buttons are in the corners of the trackpad, unlike my old aspire where they were on a seperate pad just below. The problem with the new one is, the cursor moves when you press for left click, making it annoyingly hard to scroll down, stop, then scroll down again. Is there a fault on it, or can this over-sensitivity be adjusted?

We can't really figure that out if we don't know your computer model.

Hey everyone. I received my sony vaio 15.5 eb series i3-370m laptop today. However, the left click on touchpad right clicks. Support told me its a hardware issue that cannot be fixed and that they can send someone over. Also, if i want to close the firefox window... pressing the left or right click works which is a problem with this touchpad. The scrolling of the touchpad however has no problem though. Would you guys suggest i sent this laptop back instead? If they send someone to come and repair it, they would have to open the laptop and i don't think that is good for the long run of Should i just request a new one instead?

I would assume i don't have to pay the extra $50 now correct? The battery life i notice is around 2 hours just web browsing. I am thinking if i should just return it and get a sager 5135 because i heard battery life is 3 hours and it offers 1080P. But i know that laptop does not look as good as a sony one. I will mainly play online poker with applications on it and browse and listen to music.

I just talked to support and did trouble shooting and installed a driver. What is funny now is that the left and right click buttons don't even work anymore. However, the left click and button button works if i click on those items on my taskbar such as internet explorer and windows explorer. But if i click it a 2nd time, a new explorer will show up. I cannot click on anything besides those 3 items on my taskbar with the left/right click now. ... Read more

Hey Everyone,

Any time that I press a key on my keyboard in game, it completely crashes the game (sometimes with an error and sometimes without). This happens with about 75% of my games, so this is definitely a hardware issue. For example, I'll load up a game, and when I go to type in my login information, the game crashes (i.e. Torchlight 2). Or if I get into a game and press the "e" key to access an item, my game crashes (i.e. Borderlands 2). This does not happen with games like WoW or Arma III, but does for most of my games.

I have tried using a different USB connector and a different keyboard altogether, but to no avail. Has anyone ever come across this type of issue?

I use a nVidia GTX 660 video card, Windows 7

So ive been having this problem for a couple weeks now. Most games I have open flash and show my desktop for a brief moment with every click.

Upon further inspection i can notice that when i click, it highlights the X in the upper right. Possibly closing and re-opening or maybe its just very quickly minimizing.

ALSO i notice the game icon in the task bar seems to go away then slide back in from the right. Thats why i think its closing, but can a program close and re-open so quick that it seems to have no effect with progression? You dont have to start over or anything, it pops right back up to the exact point you were at.

One more thing. I am not too familiar with any OS after vista. I got this laptop for a good deal on blk friday.

its almost exactly like this post I found Screen flashing when left clicking in games

Hello,Several days ago my laptop (As per title) crashed (I had dozens of Chrome tabs open + MS Word). After restarting, I lost right click completely. Left click will be unresponsive upon start up but eventually after some time (2-3 minutes) comes back to life. However it often then ceases to work soon after for no reason. So left click only works intermittently. I am almost certain it cannot be a physical hardware issue as the touch pad + click function worked perfectly before, then after a system crash it became completely unresponsive. I am stuck navigating using the touchscreen, tab/enter/arrow keys and the keyboard shortcut for right click. An external USB mouse works perfectly fine and I can left+right click normally, but this is not a long-term solution. This is very annoying. My laptop is out of warranty, as I purchased it new and have been using it since late 2016/early 2017. So far every attempt to resolve this has not worked, but so far I have tried:1- Updating my Elan Device Drivers through Device Manager2- Attempting to 'Defrag' Windows through it's inbuilt tools3- Full Reinstall of Windows (Wiping all files completely)4- Uninistalling/removing Elan Mouse Device completely through Device Manager, restarting, then allowing it to automatically reinstall.5- Shutting down the system, holding the power button for 30 seconds (I read this can help clear out bugs, someone had some luck with it rectifying their track pad right click issues but didn't h... So far this only seems to be happening with Steam-based games. (TF2, HL2, etc.) Though I bought Bioshock 2 through Steam, it too crashes, but these are normal game crashes where the screen goes black, you crash to desktop and Windows properly reports that the game crashed, and you're back at a responsive desktop.

With the Steam games, after a random amount of time, the game's audio will loop and the frames will lock, then the hard drives will begin to click once per second constantly.

If I'm quick, you can CTRL+ALT+DEL and click LOGOFF to get to the desktop and start again, but if the HDDs begin clicking, you have to do a shutdown in time or the whole PC becomes unresponsive. After a forced shutdown, the BIOS will sometimes reports issues before being able to boot up normally.

Through the troubleshooting process, Valve requested a dump, which at that time, I performed, however that was a time when the HDD never clicked (because I had time to ALT+TAB out of the game and do the dump write) With the HDD click errors, you simply don't have the time to write a dump.

But I've hosted the dump file for review here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey whats up guys?

Hey when I have Windows Explorer opened up, and I press lets say the ' H ' Key , you would expect it to jump down and highlight a folder with that starts with the letter H right? Mine Jumps to the top right corner & searches my computer for files that start with H, or whatever else I choose to add into there afterward

How can I make it go back to the way it used to be & have it highlight folders.
Thanks in advance!

A:When I press buttons on my keyboard..

Hello Spinsta Welcome to the Seven Forums!

It mainly depends on where you have WE opened to when going to press the H key. If you simply click on your main drive here and press H the highlight immediately goes to HomeGroup. If you click on let's say the first folder on C with an A it may go direct to the hiberfil.sys file at the root which begins with H.

If you clicked in the search box and press H Windows assumes that is the first letter of the item you are running a search on there. If you happen to have Programs Files or Program Files(x86) open and click on anything in one of those directories it will go to the first H item found. WE is acting normally searching for the nearest H item being the explorer tool.

All three buttons have a tactile bump and audible click when pressed but the machine won't register a click until I use an unnatural amount of force to force the button to bottom out.  With normal use, I'm seeing a 50% miss rate for clicks for lack of "smashing down" the buttons. Here's a demonstration of the problem:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsxTQNEkBoQ Has anyone seen anything similar to this?

Also, there were no start menu icons or quick launch icons, until I ran unhide... Not sure how else I can title this post!

I have a new Dell Inspiron 15r as of this Christmas, running Windows 8. I ran the upgrade to 8.1 but I still have a problem with my cursor wanting to "hover click" on links or browser tabs, as well as being stuck in the down position, when I'm not even pressing on the touchpad left button. I end up selecting an entire region of stuff while moving the cursor across the screen.

I can't figure out what to change or configure in Control Panel, or is it in the Dell Touchpad configuration utility?

In Control Panel/Ease of Access Center/Make Your Mouse Easier To Use I have unchecked "Activate a Window by hovering over it with a mouse." Still happens.

It's driving me mad - never had this problem with Win 7 or any desktop machine.

Anyone? Thank you.

A:Dell Inspriron Hover-Click and Left-Click Gets Stuck

If you go into Mouse in Control Panel, then click Device Settings Tab.. on the right there's a Settings Button. I turned off the ones that say swipe. I also disabled rapid app switching. To do that press Winkey-q click Settings on the top right. Type "swipe" in the box. You should see a box on the left about rapid app switching. Click it and you can then disable it.

This is my first laptop also. The mouse gestures drove me crazy. About all I kept was tap click. Also I bought a $5 optical USB mouse and a $.97 mouse pad. I keep these in my Laptop case. When I have time and room to set up the mouse pad I feel much better about using the machine.

Dell Latitude - XPsp3

This is a problem with the built in mouse pad. I left click something like the desktop and the options menu comes up as though it was a right click. It's not a software setting, as I've checked them all, and I've reinstalled XP.

The only (temporary) fix I can apply is to plug in a usb mouse. Then the touchpad mouse will act appropriately. But it reverts back to this issue upon reboot.

Should I update the BIOS?

Getting very frustrated with this issue now!
Bought a reconditioned XPS in June, full warranty from DELL.  Everything works great, except the touchpad which is AWFUL!!!!
The physical buttons are the worst problem, and they need to be pressed VERY hard for them to work.  I have had DELL engineers change the entire trackpad twice now, and still the problem persists.
The "tap to click" option is better, but still seems to miss about 30% of my clicks...
I bought this laptop as I am so often working on the road... this issue has basically made it unusable, and I'm ready to chuck it out the window.
Rant over, and what i've done to try and fix:
- Twice service engineers replaced touchpad hardware, no improvement
- Flashed BIOS
- Deleted all touchpad and mouse drivers, reinstalled latest driver from dell website
- Endlessly played around with different combinations of touchpad settings
Does anyone have this issue too?  Any other ideas of what could be tried?  This simply can't be a how it is meant to be, everyone who uses this laptop has trouble clicking!!

Hello all, from a few days until now I have started experiencing what seems to be a recurrent problem in the P50 laptop touchpad drivers. When using the driver 19.3.4.16 for synaptics pointing device, the left button of the touchpad double clicks most of the times (about 70-80% of the time). If I decide to update my drivers to the latest version, 19.3.4.202, then something even worse happens: the left and right buttons are inverted (and I have checked that the box of inverting the buttons in control panel is unclicked). From what I have been reading this has been an issue that has happened before already, but I don't know if Lenovo fixed it, or it has just been unsolved until now. Maybe someone around here can help me with this?

A friend came by about 3 weeks ago and attempted to show me the proper way to use tabbing in IE8. After he left, I noticed a difference in the process to connect to links within web pages that I'd never experienced before. He lives overseas and is hard to contact.

When in my browser, I have always left-clicked to go to a linked site. That works just fine; however, when I am in a webpage with embedded links, I can sometimes left click to go to the site of some of those links, but find that for other embedded links, I must rigt click and choose "open link" or "open link in new tab" or "open link in new page".

I've never had to right click to go to a link within any web page.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

A:trouble with left and right buttons

it isn't a feature all touchpads have.

Anyway, follow these steps:
-download and install the touchpad drivers from the laptop manufacturer's support area of the site.
-click on Start button and write "mouse" in the small seachbox near the bottom of the panel, then select the first entry from the top (that should be called "mouse")
-go to the tab called Hardware, and there you should see some button to open your trackpad's utility to change such features.

You need to try and tinker on your own with the options and settings of the trackpad's utility, since every trackpad around has a different one with different features.

I have just installed a program called CCS Compiler and I associated hex files with this program. Since then, I get the following window in various places like Save As... Two top buttons on the left: Projects and examples.

Click picture to enlarge

I have uninstalled this program now as I don't need it, but I'm still getting it. How can I manually tweak it?

Not only that, but the "Desktop" button seems to be missing in certain areas/windows, which I can't describe now as I can't remember, but in Vista the Desktop button was where I needed it. I've never bothered finding out more about it, but now this is getting annoying.

Any ideas how can I restore/customize it?

Hi there zyx. you mean those two folders. Before you dig through the registry I would try and see if you don't have a system restore point that lies before the installation of CCS.

Using the computer (Windows Vista) after my little sister I found that she had done something to the taskbar so that the buttons showing open windows appear on the right instead of on the left.
I cannot work out how this was done or how to change it back, and can't find anything about making the taskbar work from right to left in any help files.
It's not a terrible fault, but it's rather annoying as we aren't used to looking there for open things, and it automatically squashes the taskbar buttons up because it thinks it hasn't got much room.

Any idea how to make it go back to normal? Thank you.

A:Solved: Taskbar buttons gone all right-to-left

Never mind, happened upon the solution.

In case anyone else ever wants to know, the reason I couldn't move the tasbar buttons back was that the taskbar was locked. Unlocking the taskbar (right click inside taskbar and untick 'Lock the taskbar') allowed the handles for resizing each of the sections of the toolbar to be shown.

The section for active windows was really small and squashed up on the right; extending it back over towards the Quicklaunch tray on the right fixed the problem.

I notice when I push on the right side, the key pushes in perfectly meaning no tightness or whatever. But when I push on the left, I notice its a bit tougher and if you were to hear it, sounds like the key is touching against another key but its not. It just seems not as smooth. What can I do to make my left side push as smoothly as the right? Im thinking maybe it just needs some buttering up on the left side, maybe just a little dry. But how do you go about popping off a laptop space bar without breaking it. Is there any springs in voled.

A:Space bar key on laptop seems to press differently on the left side than the right.

It should just pop off; pry it off with a screwdriver. This article may help:

Hey guys just opened up the new surface pro 4 I bought yesterday. The only thing I'm noticing so far is that when I press slightly hard in the bottom left corner of the device I hear creaking/click noise. And it occurs every time I press there with a little pressure. I'm wondering if that's normal. I'm also noticing when I press down with a little Force anywhere on the screen there is a little discoloration that appears on it until I release the pressure is this normal? I do have some light bleed in the upper portion but that may be normal with lcd's. Is this normal or should I go ahead and return before the sales are over.

Hello.  I have a fairly new Lenovo G510 laptop, just a few months old.  Ever since I received it, I noticed the buttons on the touchpad are very loud when pressed.  The left is louder than the right, but frankly both are annoying the people around me.  The sound has not changed with use.  Is this just how they are, or is something wrong?

A:Lenovo G 510 Touchpad left/right buttons very loud

Hi Lulu12,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing an issue with the touchpad buttons are very loud.

As this is not hardware or the software issue, as there is spring below the touchpad the sound might be due to the spring when you click on the touchpad, this is due to the mechanical action that goes through when the clickpad is clicked this is not a issue with the hardware.

Best regards,

Hiya,
I'm having a problem with my touchpad on my laptop - when I press 'Fn' and F8 to Mute, I can still move my cursor round the screen, but if I try to click something, it just doesn't do it, but after re-boot, it's fine. I'm on an Acer aspire 5050.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
John

Sorry - It's whenever I use the 'fn' key not just 'fn' and f8

Started after I tried to put Norton on my computer. Kept getting all kinds of error messages, so I deleted Norton. Immediately after, LEFT click stopped opening anything (except on this site, oddly enough). On eBay, hotmail, Amazon....anything other than this site, I have to RIGHT click, then chose Open. I saw this addressed in a few places, but didn't understand the fix that was suggested. One said to go to #18 on the home page. That didn't make sense to me. Would really like to just be able to LEFT click to open something. Thanks, y'all.

A:Left click opens nothing. Having to right click.

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse > Buttons > Button configuration > Untick the box.
