FLEX 4 Warranty question

Q: FLEX 4 Warranty question

Hello All, My Flex 4-1580 just got back from the Lenovo Repair Center, where they fixed the backlight and the microphone. Thrilled, I opened it up and proceeded to play games on it for a few hours, then closed the laptop. When I come back and open it up, the top of the screen is cracked and the touch is permanantly clicking at the top of the page. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the screen case was not properly reinstalled, as there are gaps that did not exist before I sent the laptop to Lenovo. I want to know if this repair is covered by my original Lenovo Manufacturer's Warranty, as I have a third-party warranty that explicitly covers ADH repairs. I would assume that Lenovo would cover it, as the damage here was caused by their oversight, but I wanted to make sure. I'm going to call their customer service number when it opens tomorrow. Reply if you'd like an update with how it goes!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,
I want to know the warrant policy regarding the following issues:
I have a Lenovo Flex 2-14 laptop.
Will my warranty be void, if:
1. I upgrade my RAM to 12GB by making use of the two provided slots. 4 Gb Ram the implicit one and adding another 8 Gb Ram.
2. If I dual boot my laptop with Ubuntu Os.
Kindly let me know the warranty status in both the cases.

A:Flex 2-14 - Warranty: Replacement policy

Hi wavare_ajinkya ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As a general rule, CRU (customer replaceable parts ) will not void the warranty as listed from the hardware manual . However most upgrades on this model shows that such are considered FRU (field replaceable unit) , meaning you would have to open up additional parts and might require skill and specific tools thus CRU ID is N. (item6 page 72 ).

1. Upgrading your RAM however would not void any warranty.
We had same issue discussed on this thread .
On quotes: " Similar to this query is this case  for the Z500 replacement of optical drive which is also a CRU Id - N and this thread.

Warranty agreement :

What this Warranty Does not Cover
- failure or damage resulting from misuse, abuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, improper maintenance, or use not in accordance with product information materials
-damage caused by a non-authorized service provider
-failure of, or damage caused by, any third party products, including those that Lenovo may provide or integrate into the Lenovo product at your request

Warranty is not covered if during the process of modification , damage or accidents may incur both on the replaced parts and the original devices ."

The answer would be no , upgrading  the harddrive ,RAM will not void your warranty... Read more

I registered for my warranty and have more than 200 days left.Thing is, I'm in school out of the US and want it fixed and looked at.  What do I do?Please help. Thanks so much!PS: Nothing ever happened to the laptop. It never fell, over heated or made any weird noise. It just stopped working after the smell came out.

Hello, I recently purchased Lenovo Flex 5 (14") laptop (Part Number:  80XA0011US). This comes with 16.0GB DDR4 2133 MHz and 1TB 5400 RPM+128GB PCIe SSD.  I have 3 questions: 1) I am hoping I like the laptop. If for some reason, I want to return it, how many days I have? And, is that from the date of purchase or date of delivery?  2) I forgot to buy warranty with the purchase. How many days I have to buy warranty?  3) I bought accessory - Slim DVD Burner. Will this be attached to the laptop or is this an external one? Thanks!

I bought a Lenovo Flex 5 14" and at first really enjoyed the product, but it quickly had screen flickering issues. Thankfully, it was still in warranty, so I shipped it back and the LCD was replaced. However, the testing must not have been very rigorous at all because after a while, it still has the same flickering issue. The root cause analysis was incomplete, the problem was not completely fixed, and now my device is out of warranty. I tried to contact Lenovo months back, but because my device was out of warranty, I couldn't get through. Now I really need to use this laptop again and it is basically useless without an external monitor. I am very disatisfied with the level of service received.

Hi there,My Lenovo Flex 5's screen started to flick and sometimes most of the screen is covered by black flickering . When it is moved and especially when the screen is moved up or down the flickering appears. I bought this laptop new 3 weeks ago and I do not live in the United States and my laptop is not covered under international warranty plus it is not made in Brazil and it cannot be fixed in here because they do not have the necessary components.  Can I ship my laptop to the US for repair or is there something else I can do?Regards,Ana

Morning  I have a question about the warranty status shown in HP Support Assistant...   In August last year I purchased in good faith a new HP Envy 17-N152SA from P C World in the UK.... now the first issue I had was the notebook was actually advertised and sold as a 17-N152NA NOT "SA" which is the same notebook apart from the battery...   After speaking to the Manager this issue was resolved and a refund offered to cover the error... all well...   Now up until a few days ago the warranty status in HP Support Assistant was correct and showed as expiring in Augist 2017 ... but it now shows that HP Warranty is not applicable and to speak to the retailer (see attached image)   I have my own opinion that this notebook was from a unauthorised source, and the "SA" is not a UK machine, but P C World just say that the recipt is proof of warranty and as authorised HP repaires they will look after it...   BUT why would HP not be interested in a notebook I purchased in good faith from a retailer? if as I suspect it is down to the model that is not my fault....   Hopefully I will never need to use the warranty anyway but it has annoyed me....  I have emailed a complaint to P C World just waiting for a reply.. Stuart

Hello,
i want to ask a question about my laptop warranty and need an answer
i bought my dell Inspiron at 20/09/2016 and i got a small problem so i needed to use my warranty,
when i browsed on DELL site by Service Tag , i found that the warranty started 29/1/2016 and will finish 29/1/2017
so i want to know how it started before my buy day? and if that mean it was used before i bought it?
i am from Cairo - Egypt , and they said i will get 1 year since i bought and that no problem to go to them by it to cheek it
but i want to understand how it started before i buying it.
thank you
Bassem

A:question about warranty

There isn't an official Dell support presence in Egypt so your support is through your dealer.
The system must have sat with the dealer or distributor for quite some time before you purchased it -- not uncommon, but Dell starts the warranty with the ship date by default.

Hi,My laptop is still within warranty (ends June 2017). A week ago power button broke and I was not able to turn it on. When I shook it, I heard something broke inside, something was loose. I needed my laptop for work, so I opened it, I found the problem and I was able to turn it on again. Now, I always have to keep it on / or sleep mode, or I always have to open it, to turn it back on again. Is my warranty voided now?

A:Warranty question

You will have to ask HP about that. Normally if you are able to open up a notebook or PC  for an upgrade without it being obvious or damaging something inside, the warranty is not void.

Hello, I got a standard 1 year warranty that came with the machine. Now that it is running out, I looked at options to renew and it seems the only options I have are for ONE year extension. Depot 1 year ext - $149NBD On-site - $179. Wondering if people thought it beneficial to get extended warranties (I've never had one of those), laptop is used very carefully and anyhow warranty does not seem to cover accidental damage. Unless perhaps if there are more options when I CALL Lenovo directly instead of looking at options online. Thanks,

It will not void warranty if you download the update and update the Unit form Win8.1 to Win10. You may create the USB recovery media before making any changes on your computer. Install all the updates for windows 8.1 and wait for the windows update 10 icon to be displayed in taskbar.

Hi, I have a Flex 14-2 with a FHD (1920x1080) touch screen.  The screen has cracked - the glass is cracked and the screen is dead (black). I can get signal through the HDMI output on an external screen which makes me think the issue is with the screen and not with the GPU, so I'm looking to replace my screen. My question is whether I can replace the LCD screen but get a regular glass on top instead of a digitizer, as I don't really use touch functionality.  If so, where can I get a simple glass to go on top of the LCD? Thank you!

We are trying to decide between a Flex notebook that has a single 512GB SSD vs. a Flex with a traditional 1TB hard drive plus a 256GB SSD. Can anyone shed light on how the important stuff comes loaded out of the factory on a combo hard drive unit? I've been told at a retail store that the operating system is always loaded on the SSD. That makes sense from a reliability issue but would appreciate any educated input. App. how much storage space is used up on the preloaded stuff coming out of the factory? If we choose the 512 SSD, I am interested in knowing how much more is available before resorting to external sources. Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

No, it will not void your warranty.  The User Guide for your model describes the various hardware items that can be replaced by the owner / user.  In your situation the optical drive is one of those devices.  For your reference I have included a link below to your model's User Guide.

No - the warranty does not cover accidental damage - which is what this is.  Contact Dell Out of Warranty repair -- or a shop of your choice -- for a paid repair estimate.

Hello everyone! My Lenovo Y50-70 has been performing very well so far. It's been almost two years now and it still runs very smoothly. I used to play games which were making the keyboard corpuss reach average temperatures. It was actually quite pleasant during winter. Due to the heat "a" and "s" keys have popped out and I barely managed to get the "a" one back. Didn't have the same luck with the "s" though. I damaged the corpuss of the keyboard. I do have a warranty coverage which includes accidental drop and spill as well. The problem is I can't find the warranty card and my question is: Is it possible to get a copy of it so I can claim my warranty and have my laptop fixed? And if so what would the procedure look like? Who do I contact? The service provider here in Bulgaria won't take my laptop unless I have the warranty card. The laptop was bought from the USA. Thank you!

Dear Admins, I address my question to you as I have no clue currently how I should approach the question any further. I have a refurbished P52s bought from the US. The system reallowed me to buy warranty extension as the machine approaches the end of the one year limited warranty. I wanted to buy the 4 years priority package with the international option as I am currently not in the US as per my registered contact details. Since the machine originates from the US, I cannot buy the extension in the current country as per my contacts at the local retailers, from the global webpage I am redirected to the US page, but when I want to checkout, I get a warning that shipment is only allowed to the US. I also cannot get in the chat system as this is allowed from the US/CAN only. Could you please help me whom I should contact at Lenovo? Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Sandor

Like when you type, when it gets hot the comp...and you type away, you can feel the keyboard flex and hear maybe the plastic frame just make a bit more noise than it should, meaning not just the keys pressed making noise. Or should it be complete silient other than the key pressed.

what is normal these days. i dont know if i should get my keyboard replaced or not. I brought it in the toshiba and they said it might be normal with this model.

Who has ever sent their computers in for a repair when it's under warranty to the manufacturer's repair center?

I am having to send mine, because I can't get the shutdown and sleep problem resolved.

Acer says its a hardware problem.

A:Computer Repair Under Warranty Question?

I bought an Acer Aspire T310 desktop machine (the first time I'd purchased an Acer product) in early 2006, which had a faulty DVD/CD burner. I contacted the repair centre and they assured me that if i sent it in they'd replace the drive.

The service centre was (and is) about 80km away, and it so happened that I'd be in that vicinity on business in a few days, so I arranged to drop it off then. I did so, and then went off to conduct other business.

When I returned several hours later, it was ready, with a new drive fitted, at no cost due to the warranty.

Obviously in my case I virtually eliminated any chance of damage-in-transit, but I certainly can't complain about the service I received from Acer.

Interestingly, having owned seven Acers over the years (I currently own three - one desktop and two laptops) that was the only time I've had an issue of any kind, with any of them.

Needless to say, my next machine will probably also be an Acer.

Wenda.

Hi all.  My T470 stopped recogninzing the power adapter over the weekend (USB-C) and is also not recognizing my wife's 'normal' power adapter from her E570.  I created an MTSA ticket which is sitting as 'open' with no updates other than my own but not sure if that will work because of my situation..... PC was purchased from and delivered to Canada so is likely a 'Canadian' machine in Lenovo's eyes.  I now live on the island of Roatan in the Caribbean which belongs to Honduras.  When I created the MTSA ticket it automatically populated location as Honduras, doubtless due to IP address.  Warranty is return to depot. I fully expect I will need to ship the machine to the support center, US makes the most sense as we have a US PO box for return shipping (no mail or regular courier service on the island) and will then have the repaired machine sent to that PO Box and arrange to get it through the shipping company we use. My question is, will MTSA actually work for this?  I'm concerned that Honduras doesn't have warranty coverage and that the ticket will end up 'lost' in the system.  Do I need to do something else, do I need to contact someone outside of MTSA or do I just need to be patient and wait for a response? Thanks in advance.
