Windows XP video/graphic driver issue!

Q: Windows XP video/graphic driver issue!

Hi

I have Gateway m 6823 notebook, which came with WIndows Vista. I have downgraded from Vista to XP, and was very surprised that there were absolutely no drivers for XP on gateway website for this model. I have searched intel and other sites and found XP drivers that work fine on my notebook now. I got wireless card working, sound, touchpad, the motherboard chipset driver and etc.

Now i have also downloaded Intel Video Driver Version: 7.14.10.1283. Which is actually works on this machine. I can now choose from many different resolution in display settings, and the stand by option available, and picture itself is clear. But there is a huge problem. The screen is too dark. What is the issue?

It is not a hardware problem, monitor is ok. Once I uninstall the driver it is bright as usual. Adjusting the brightness with FN combination has no affect. I tried also installing older versions of this driver but same issue. It is still dark. The only way to adjust brightness is in driver utility itself, but that is not doing what it supposed to do.

Please help. I need you help.

Thanks you guys.

Preferred Solution: Windows XP video/graphic driver issue!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Windows XP video/graphic driver issue!

You have probably done all that can be done. If you can't find the correct driver, or the one you have is not adjustable, then you may have to deal with a dark screen, or remove it and deal with the reduced resolution. If Gateway had no drivers, it is because this model was never sold with XP and there was no need. No one is making many new drivers for an operating system that is almost 10-years-old and been replaced by 2 generations of new operating systems.

It is surprising when XP even supports some new hardware since its kernel was designed before this new hardware even existed.

hello I had to reinstall on a new HDD windows 7 64 bits.after reboot I reinstalled he graphic adapter driver (Intel HD 3000) and got- freeze of the computer (means no reaction of anything done on keyboard)- completely corrupted display what i did : reboot in safe mode, uninstall driver, reboot, reinstall : no luckI've also tried with an extrenal monitor (installing driver with a second monitor connected) : and it worked.at that point I was thinking i'm saved, but no luck again.- reboot without the second monitor ends to the same- disconnecting monitor when running ends to the same display corruption. I've also tries some other setting in the intel driver (and other evsions) but no way to have it working only with the laptop monitor. I may say also that i've taken the chance to dualboot on a linux and there it works out of the box. Bios and other frivers are tha latest ones from HP web site. Any nice idea? it will be a pain  to stay on a VGA driver... best JM

My Dad installed Windows 7 onto my computer and the display quality was kind of big and blurry-ish. I could read and see everything just fine but I didn't like the blurry look. I went into Device Manager and the Video Controller showed a yellow exclamation and said it was not up to date. So I got a video controller driver off a website that I can't remember now, I'm almost positive it was the one from Dell's official drivers but one that was compatible with Windows XP (what my computer originally came with, since thats what driver came up when I put in my service tag). After I updated the driver in device manager and restarted my computer and the picture is all distorted in like green, blue, and purples.

I have a Dell Inspiron B130 that I got like 5 years ago. I'm planning to get a new computer anyways, but I wanted to fix this so we can use it as a fully functioning and usable just older, less fancy family computer. I would love any help there is to offer. Thank you!!!

A:Video Controller Driver issue on my Windows 7

An XP driver generally will not work for Windows 7. Did you check on the Dell site for Windows 7 drivers? Did you run the Windows 7 upgrade adviser before upgrading? Most XP machines will not be able to run Windows 7 because of the lack of driver availability. I would take it back to XP.

I am running windows Vista. I have just reformated and then I literally started getting graphic card errors *Note was working perfectly fine before hand!!!!*, so I don't think it's the graphics card. After installing Vista *At this time I am running on onboard graphics*, I installed the installation disc that came with the card, and then the most recent drivers. But when I restart to ocmplete driver installation, I get BIOS beeps *2 short, 1 long* which indicates a video error *can someone give me more information on this*. Since it didn't work I decided to reformat again this time installing a later version of the graphic drivers 186, *which I know are stable from when I know I used before I reformated*, and still no luck. The thing again, which I must emphasize, is it was working 100% *no troubles at all* before I reformatted which was yesterday, and my display is connected and coming from my graphics card. I go to device manager and I get error code 43 can someone also get me more in-depth information on this as well as the BIOS beeps.

Much appreciated, and I hope to god it isn't my graphics card

First time here, and now I really need some good advice.

I am the owner of a Sony VAIO VPCCW1S1E, and since start in January 2010 I have had some problems with crackling sound when playing audio or video. Over the last week things have gotten worse; the crackling sound won't stop. I've been reading several threads about the problem, and I realize that it's common. Obviously, I'm not alone. Some seem to get the problem solved in different ways, and others seem to struggle.

However, I've been trying some troubleshooting today by using DPC Latency Checker and atencyMon. I have found out that my graphic card NVidia GeForce GT 230M is the main problem. In LatencyMon driver file nvlddmkm.sys reaches highest execution value (>2.00), but also tcpip.sys, ndis.sys and ACPI.sys get high values (>1.00) in LatencyMon.

In DPC Latency Checker I get more red bars than green, and values are pending between 2000 and 25000um. When disabling, and also uninstalling the graphic card, the green bars will show up more frequently with values between 500-1000um. After reinstalling and upgrading NVidia things haven't get better. Actually, it seems to have gotten worse, and the crackling sound goes on. I have also upgraded BIOS, and reinstalled sound card drivers.

What to do now? Suggestions?

/Per, Sweden

A:DPC Latency/NVIDIA Graphic driver issue

I know nothing about your particular hardware, but when I have had problems with crackling sound, I was able to eliminate it by adjusting and/or reseating the cables in their connectors. I'm assuming that your audio and video work through the same HDMI connection, if not, then I don't know what to say.

Hi, i'm experimenting problems with graphic card driver. When i install the driver (both the Lenovo suggested one and the Intel one), the screen become black and i can listen the sound of a disconnected device. Then, after every boot, i can't see anything on the display. I installed windows from zero and i haven't installed any other third party software, the only operation i've done after the installation is the Windows' update and Lenovo's drivers update. I tried also to install graphic card driver in safeboot mode, and the installation completes, thus i think the problem depends on conflicts between drivers. I also tried to install old Intel driver, but the problem persists. The first time it happend was in June, during a Windows' update. After that, the only "solution" i found to see the screen is to restore the Microsoft basic driver. I can't figure out if the problem depends on Windows or on Lenovo's drivers. Any solution?Thank you.

The computer's a year old, running XP, and my boyfriend and I have no idea what's wrong with it (it's his). I'd put in hardware support but I don't know which piece of hardware may be corrupted, exploding as we speak, or what.

It began last night. He's done this before -- he has two monitors, one meant for a TV (I believe) and another old computer screen. Normally it runs on the TV one because it's bigger. He switched to the older one to show me how he can adjust the settings so that it's all vertical. That was great and dandy and we didn't expect any issues. He's done it before and it really isn't doing much to the computer.

Later, after midnight, he goes to switch everything back to normal. First, the computer acts like the monitor is there but that it can't do anything -- it tries to go into sleep mode or something. Then I suggest he unplug, shut down, plug things back in normally, and power back up. This appears to work.

I was a bit happy then, until we got to the XP loading screen. It's going... and then after, it flashes, then goes black. Nothing comes up, nothing does anything.

And so the three hour saga of last night begins. We restart, we spam F8, we get into safe mode, he disables Nvidia but can't open the application. Nor does his mouse function in safe mode (I know some don't, but it really doesn't help the situation). I've used my laptop to bring up shortcut keys and we're functioning through everything that way. He restarts after disabling Nvidia, an... Read more

I have a computer here that when you boot up you see the posts.
Then you see the Windows Home sceen with the moving bar then the screen goes black.
The Monitor button light stays green the computer continues and boots up but you see nothing. Pull the monitor cable and you get that it is disconnected. Plug it back in and the green light stays on but the screen is still all black.

Things done.
Tried a Video card. The one was onboard. This did the same thing.
Tried a new Powersupply. Same thing.
Finally I put another HD with a OS on it and it worked fine.

I now have that Harddrive from this computer as a slave to save what is on it.
I was going to wipe the OS and restore.

What can be done in windows working on a drive.

The person said one day it just stopped.
So did a new video driver get installed and screwed it up.

Is there a way to make the system restore on that Slave Drive back a week?
Then install back into the orginal computer to see if it would work?

Thanks for any help.. or ideas

A:I believe Video Driver Issue but who knows?

Your post is somewhat difficult to follow.
From what I can understand your system was working ok and a new video driver was installed. This resulted in no display.

Did you try and boot into safe mode?

Do you see post data when your boot your system? Note this is the part where your drives are detected, memory count, etc.

I'm trying to play Diablo 2 on an older HP desktop with onboard video. I get "Error 25: A critical error has occurred while initializing Direct3D" (This only happens when trying to run it in fullscreen mode, and I need fullscreen mode the first time running it because it won't update/validate version in windows mode)

I see 2 possible ways to get around this,
#1 Get the proper video driver (right now it's using "Standard VGA Adapter". HP only offers XP drivers on their site for this model Pavillion a500n. I tried taking the name (VIA S3G Unichrome) and searching, but several downloads later I'm still stuck. I don't think I ever found the exact correct driver. It is a VIA KM400.

#2 Fix DirectX in some way such that it still works using the "Standard VGA Adapter" driver that is currently installed. It's DirectX 11. Here is the dxdiag.txt below if you choose to go this route.

First off, i'll start with the beginning.

I purchased a new machine. I set it up, installed the drivers for the video card I was putting in.

I installed the software for the drivers. When it said "screen may flicker or go blank," the screen went blank and stayed that way. For about 10 minutes until I rebooted. Everything ran fine at that point.

I do have an onboard card, but was told I could just put the new card in after installing the drivers, and it would run fine.

Whenever I try to change the refresh rate, whatever game i'm playing freezes. Occasionally, when in Call of Duty 4, the screen will go black and then return to normal, sometimes telling me there was an error with my video drivers. Sometimes this will not happen for some time, and sometimes it will happen over and over.

When playing Crysis and Hellgate, there is a tendency to just freeze.

Windows Vista home edition

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+ @ 2.80 GHz

Hi all . I'm working on a client's computer who had a Nvidia Geforce 3 TI card that wasn't working properly. The system recognized it, but the display properties said it had an error loading. The latest Nvidia drivers did nothing to reconsile the situation, so I thought he had a bad video card.

Upon receiving a brand-spaking new 5700 card, I installed it with the same problem. Drivers seemed to install fine, but upon reboot,. it's using a standard Win VGA driver. I've checked through the BIOS of the Dell 8200 desktop, and switched IRQs around a bit, but still no go. I'm insalling SP2 as we speak - not that I believe that'll have any bearing, but with as many files as it replaces, I figure it's worth a shot. I didn't think the AGP prot could be bad, as it displays graphics in about 16 bit color, but even surfing the web is choppy. A dxdiag reveals that direct draw works fine, but of course it can't do any 3D, as it doesn't know how without the drivers. I'm about at wits end, as now I know it's not the AGP card. Any suggestions?

Oh - one mor ething. It's an Interl Borad, otherwise I would've downloaded the latest motrherboard chipset drivers... can't seem to find them for this MB, though. : ). thanks again!

A:Jvc Video Camera Driver Issue

I don't believe there is any Vista driver for this camera. Are you intending to use USB or Firewire? Using Firewire, your Video Editing software should be able to access the camera directly. However, some cameras including JVC are known to have issues communicating correctly with Firewire chips that are not Texas Instruments (eg Agere). Folk have reported installing a Firewire card with a TI chipset and having the Vista Video editor immediately see the camera, eg the topics here:http://camcorderinfo.com/bbs/printthread.php?t=138906and here:http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t111245.html

So for the last little while, whenever I play WoW I am getting random shutdowns - sometimes with a BSOD stating "system service exception", sometimes not. I monitored the temperature and it isn't changing between when I'm playing and when I'm not. I've tried shutting down *everything* else when I play, that doesn't change anything. I tried cleaning off a lot of old programs and updating the video card driver and it got *worse*, to the point where I've had to use the repair feature twice tonight, the first time it did a system restore (but didn't tell me to *when*), the second time it didn't - this is getting frustrating! One note, I went to AMD's website for my card (http://www.amd.com/us/products/desk...d-4800/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-4800-overview.aspx) and clicked on "Support and Drivers". Under product type I chose "graphics card - desktop" - but I can't find the 4800 series in the list. At that point I looked at the next link in my google search for a driver (http://driverscollection.com/?H=Radeon HD 4800&By=ATI), checked to see what other people said of the website and couldn't find anything negative, so tried that. That's when things got worse. Everything else works fine, and I haven't had an issue with any other games I've played. Here's the system info:

A:Video card driver issue... I *think*?

The drivers/support for the AMD Radeon HD 4800 is under the "Radeon HD" section. Try uninstalling the drivers from Programs and features in the Control Panel and install the latest drivers from the AMD website.

Please post what power supply you have in your computer, Acer's generally one with low wattage/quality power supplies. The power supply model/wattage will be listed on a sticker on the side of the power supply once you get the side of the PC off.

Also post the model of the complete system, such as Acer Aspire T710-3412.

Post the temps and voltages at idle and at load(such as when playigng WoW, post a screenshot from HW Monitor: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Also ensure WoW is fully up-to-date.

The problem may also be due to you running a game off an external drive. USB is not perfectly stable and massively slower then an internal SATA drive. You ideally should reinstall the game to the internal hard drive.
