IE 6 pop up messages missing on mouse hover

Q: IE 6 pop up messages missing on mouse hover

I have a problem with Internet Explorer, recently pop up messages have vanished, the type that pop up when you hover the mouse over messages on forums.

It works with firefox so I guess it’s down to an Internet Explorer problem?

Any ideas please?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, This is kind of a difficult issue to explain but I will try.

Occasionally my desktop icons and/or the taskbar go black/missing and do not reappear until I hover my mouse over the area where they should have been.

Another issue I occasionally have is that when I have a program open (like MS Outlook for example) and have one or more desktop folders open which overlap the program, I will minimize the folder, but it will leave these little black boxes or this weird "imprint" of that folder i just minimized onto the maximized MS Outlook or whatever program I have open. The only way it goes away usually is when I minimize and maximize all folders or programs that i have open or hover it with my mouse until it goes away and displays correctly.

Again I know this is a little hard to explain, especially the 2nd issue I noted above with the "imprint" and black boxes, but fortunately, I was able to catch the 1st issue above this morning on video and am attaching it so you can see exactly what im talking about. The zip file I attached has the video in two formats; .MOV and .WMV.

Some important things I think I should note:
-I have a dual monitor setup
-This is a new dell XPS8900 desktop PC running windows 7 Pro 64 bit - 6th gen i7-6700, 8gb Ram, 500gb SSD, 2gb Nvidia graphics card

When I used to hover over the text below a video on youtube, the comment would expand so that I could read the topic of the clip. Now, when I put the mouse pointer over the text, it flashes quickly on and off once then stays off. This happens in Opera,(which I have deleted and reinstalled and still the same), and in Chrome.

Holders of great knowledge, I have read different posts on deactivating the annoying behaviour of the a mouse hover functioning as a double-click. I have tried all recommendations, for example, turning off tapping, turning on double-click in folder options, turning off the select window box in Ease of Access. I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-7497 with Vista Ultimate. Still if I rest the mouse over a selectable item, in just a couple of seconds the item is selected-just as if I had clicked/double-clicked on the item. Mouse is a Logitech bluetooth model. I would like the same in Vista x64.

Hi therock,

I do not think you can change this behavior in Vista. I played with different mouse, folder options, color scheme, and etc.. settings with no luck. It seems that the pane must be made active manually for the one you want to use scroll with.

I use Windows 7 and have been experiencing two issues, unclear if they are related.

First, the mouse often hovers over a link or icon for several seconds (up to minutes!) before the OS "recognizes" the cursor, thus enabling me to select an application. I have tried to update my registry with changing to mouse hover times but it hasn't really helped.

Also, in Internet Explorer (version 9), when clicking the Back button, the browser often takes me right back "Forward" to the page I just left automatically.

Anyone know of any virus or malware that could be the cause?

Thanks

When I place the mouse pointer over certain items such as the close button on a file, there is a delay of about 3 seconds before the tool tip pops up.
During this time, clicking the mouse button has no effect, which is quite annoying.
This only happens on some icons. For example, close, maximize & minimize buttons.

If I place the pointer over the start button or minimized tabs in the taskbar, the response is much faster (about .5 sec), which is how I'd like it on all buttons etc.

Can anyone help with this annoyance please?

How do I stop folders from opening when I leave the mouse sitting on them? It only seems to happen on two laptops that have touchpad mice, even though I am using a USB regular mouse with them. One is running XP, the other is running the Windows 7 RC. This does not happen on a computer that does not have the touchpad mouse.

A:Solved: Mouse Hover Action

Is folder options->single click to open an item set? If so then try changing it.

If not, your laptop probably has a way to deactivate the touchpad--on mine it is FN + F9. If you don't need the touchpad you could try that.

XP Pro SP2

When the mouse hover gets close enough to generate the hover-tip file information in the Explorer listing of files an error is generated instead for some .cab files. The error notice is:

“Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.”
This occurs for some Cab files but not all. It is reproducible. Rebooting makes no difference.

It is noted that the software “Search Everything”, when told to search for all .cab files, can open any .cab file. Whereupon, details of the selected .cab file are shown for all .cab files that do NOT cause the mouse hover error, but a blank listing of details is generated for the .cab files that do cause the mouse hover error. Something odd is going on with respect to some .cab files. It is as if something is selectively corrupting part of these .cab files.

How can I track down the cause for this problem and then eliminate it?

Hi all, I prefer to have the mouse change focus on a window by hovering, I've used this setting for many years, and it's what works best for me. I'm finding that with Win8.1 this setting is randomly being reset -- searching for this I've read about mouse issues when there's a reboot, but this will just happen in normal use, no reboot required. One minute everything is working as it's supposed to, then I'm hovering, and realizing that nothing is happening, and when I check, sure enough, the check mark is gone from the Control Panel setting.

I've done many searches, but haven't been able to find any reference to anyone having a similar frustrating experience, Since this is a Win setting (accessibility), I'm thinking it's not to do with the mouse, but, just in case, it's a Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball, using SetPoint Control Center 6.65.62, Drivers v.5.80.4 -- searching for an update tells me that everything is up to date.

This is a Toshiba Laptop, and the track pad is turned off. I'm willing to make registry adjustments if that would help make this problem go away (and no, I haven't done anything in the registry that might have caused this, if there's a registry change to fix this, that will be the first change I make to this machine).

Thanks for any assistance!

Edited to add: the custom settings of the trackball (switched buttons, etc) do not reset, only the hover behavior.

A:Focus-on-hover mouse setting randomly resets.

One standard "support trick" that works quite often is to boot to safe mode, go into Device Manager, and delete the misbehaving device. Reboot normally. Windows will display "new hardware found" and install the same driver you just deleted. For some reason this often fixes issues.

It is some weird thing nobody knows exactly why it works(like as soon as you crack open a novel the phone rings.)

I have just acquired a Toshiba netbook running Windows 7 Starter. When I allow the mouse pointer to hover on a clickable link, the link activates after a couple of seconds. Dannyboy42 asked the same question, and Frank4d suggested that he "go to Control Panel > Ease of Access Center > Make the mouse easer to use. Uncheck the box next to Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse". Unfortunately, that did not solve dannyboy42's problem, nor does it work for me - that box is already unchecked. I just upgraded from Vista Home Premium (32bit) to Ultimate (32bit).

I use the old Windows style of folders.

Everything seems fine except one extremely annoying thing: for almost every folder that the mouse hovers on, a blue arrow pointing down pops up to the right of the folder.

I never saw it in Home Premium, and I'm going nuts trying to find a way to disable it but haven't found any articles about this thing. I must disable it. It disappears as soon as I try to move all the way over to try clicking it.

If the folder is empty, then it doesn't pop up.
If the folder contains other things, and IF the arrow pops up close enough to the folder so I can click it, it will display a dropdown list of the folder's contents.

I only have a chance of clicking it like if I set the folder view to Tiles...

Is there a way to get rid of the way Windows 7 keeps a unique color on each Taskbar item you hover the mouse over? (i.e., Firefox's tab is orange, the color being based on the icon's colors) It's a feature I don't want. I could be using Firefox, for example, but the last item my mouse happened to hover over was an AIM IM window, and suddenly it looks like that tab requires my attention. If the unique colors must exist, is there a way to at least cause it to be that only the currently active window is what gets the color, and no other tab can steal it with a mouse hover? The problem is the color remains even when the mouse has gone off the tab *and* the tab isn't the active one.

For example, is there a way to cause Window 7's tabs to act as they did in Windows XP (or Vista, if it wasn't like Window 7's, because I don't know)? Only the currently-active tab looks any different than any other, and preferably the same toned-down color each time, not some bright yellow (like AIM) or orange (Firefox), because, as Windows XP veterans know, a bright orange refers to a program requesting your attention. I tried to get used to these unwanted features, and I never did, I simply get annoyed at having to hover the mouse over tabs until it lands on one that has an undistracting soft blue, like a Microsoft Word document's tab.

Another problem, completely unrelated, is that, for whatever reason, my Windows 7 Desktop Slideshow, set to Shuffle every 5 m... Read more

Hey all,

Here to share some annoying stupid issue I'm having of late. I had a game that didn't work on my pc and tried to get it to work and found a work around but as a result created the issue I'm having now.

I have had it for some weeks but didn't get around to reporting it here or someplace else because even when screenshotting it didn't appear on the screenshot until now.

Whatever action I do like clearing my trash bin or copying something it then appears. Not always the same message. It depends on what my last mouse action has been. I see what you see below everywhere I go. But when I fire up a video game it is gone and when I exit it is also still gone until next time after a mouse click. Sometimes when doing certain mouse actions I don't got any issues other times I have.

I hope someone knows what to do... I really got no clue what triggered this.

I am receiving several Error Messages when I start up. The first is a Virus Warning (I have Anti Vir) it says the files "C:\WINDOWS\"GLH000Z.TMP" conatins a code of the virus "TR/Dldr.VB.DX" then it gives you optons of Delete, Rename, Move, Ignore. I always press delete and it is always there the next time.
2nd is a message that says "The C:\INSTALLER\ID53.EXE File Appears corrupt. Reinstall the file and then try again." I don't even know what that is.
3rd is a message that says Windows cannot find "C:WINDOWS\rico.exe" when you push the button on the window you get another window that says "Could not execute the external program C:WINDOWS\rico.exe. When you push OK you get a third window that says INSTALL this system must be restarted to complete the installation.
On top of that my mouse and keyboard are constantly locking up. I've found, although it may not be a good idea, that if i push the large power button and force the computer into sleep and push it again to get it on they work, but will soon lock up again.
Maybe these are elementary problems but I have no idea what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, I'm missing messages on Windows XP such as the logging in message or shutting down message or the updating (when shutting down) message. I have a picture right here. Anyone know how to fix it?

What OE keeps doing is creatin aa new folder the to one am trying to restore from the *bak , can someone tell me how I managed to restore some of the folders YET the rest WON'T???

Thanks in advance,
Francie

A:HELP!!! OE Messages missing after compacting disruption?

Because some of the files were corrupt/didn't finish being compacted while others did.

The only way to get it back right now is data recovery software, and it's probably already too late for that considering how you've already used your computer after the incident.

I have a strange problem. I have been using Auto Archive for several years, with no issues. Until now. I performed a search in my Sent Items for messages I sent to someone (I'll say Dave). My search yielded 0 results, even though I know I have sent several messages to Dave over the last couple of years. I noticed my entire Sent Items shows only 326 messages (it should be several thousand). I opened a message Dave sent me in April of 2013, to which I had sent a reply. I selected to Find Related Messages, and the received message as well as my reply were displayed. My reply was also sent in April of 2013, and Outlook showed that it is located in the Sent folder. I once again went into my Sent items, and it still only shows 236 messages, the oldest of which is April of 2014. Why would Outlook not display messages prior to that date? Is there a way to have all messages displayed? I really need all the messages I have sent (not just those to Dave), for legal purposes. Can someone help please?

I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010, connected to an Exchange Server. Thanks.

When I turned my computer on this morning, Outlook Express locked up and had to be shut down. Upon restarting the program, I noticed that about a month's worth of mail was missing (from Oct 12 to Nov 15).

I've spent all day trying to find a solution. I've identified the location of the OE Files and tried copying the files from my inbox to another folder and then importing them. This resulted in duplicates of the files that were there when I started, but the missing messages were still missing.

I also tried renaming the old inbox, creating a new inbox, and copying the data from the old to the new and then using the new one. Interestingly, although I attempted to copy everything from the old to the new, the file size of the new one is much smaller. But my missing emails are still missing.

If anyone can recommend an inexpensive solution to this problem, I would appreciate it. We're a nonprofit animal rescue and the emails I lost included all of the applications on a litter of puppies I'm fostering, so I'm very anxious to recover them.

Thank you!

Which email provider are you using? Perhaps your POP settings are off. Go into account setting and see if all information is correct.

When I login to the pc I get 4 missing file messages..ssqon.dllnefcoskb.dlltuvutrs.dlljkkig.dllAlso.. half of the programs in this log do not exist on my machine because they have been uninstalled. I have ran several virus scans and spyware plus rootkit with nothing else being found. I did find some viruses before and I manually deleted these missing files. Since I deleted the files, the popups have ceased however I now experience the login error messages. I have also ran scandsk and chkdsk both and again the anti-virus programs in safe mode all to no avail.. plus ran several online scans.. a few online scans would not work. Not sure if I fixed the problems or not by checking these boxes in HiJackThis and selecting "fix".. but at least now they don't show as missing files when Vista is loaded. Is there anything I should do here? Thanks.

The welcome message like "logging on" or "applying computer settings" have strangely disappeared, so did the "windows is shutting down message" or "applying update 1 of 1", and all of these are strangely on the same font, and place on the screen, how do you fix this?
