Windows Live Installation error

Q: Windows Live Installation error

Hello all, I'm a Systems Maintainer/integrator, and I can't even figure out my own problem. I did everything, I registered my regsvr32 MSXML3.dll, I disabled my firewall temporarily of course, and I did others and it still won't work...Anyone have any ideas I can do or a fix that will get this to work?

Preferred Solution: Windows Live Installation error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When i go to install windows live messenger on my windows 2000 it comes up with an error
that says: The ordinal 730 could not be located in the dynamic library SHELL.dll.
It comes up with the error twice then another window comes up saying bootstrap.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows you will need to restart the program. An error log has been created. If anyone could tell me how to install windows live on my windows 2000 or fix this error that would be great.

Maybe you can download Windows Installer to get rid of the previous version clearly and then install the new version, I don't know whether I remember the name or not, but I used this kind of tool, is really so useful.

Not sure if normal discussion, non-question threads are allowed, but...

Seriously, Windows Live Essentials is such a hassle to install / uninstall / reinstall.

When I went to delete Messenger to attempt a re-install, it wasn't listed in add or remove programs, so then I had to go delete the folder in Program Files x86.

Then I had issues with the Windows Live Essentials thinking it was still installed. Even CCleaner wasn't enough to get rid of whatever it was tricking the installer into thinking it still existed.

In the end, it took a long time of browsing forums and so forth until I had to use third party tools to get it to work. People have had to develop their own dedicated tools for this specific problem.

Seriously, Microsoft, the creators of the Windows OS, and one of the most established companies in the world, should not have such crappy problems. I'm so annoyed that I actually had to rant somewhere about it.

But, for future reference, is there any more simple way of repairing MSN without going through all this again?

If anyone here knows anyone that has anything to do with the development of Live Messenger : Pass this info up. It's seriously a headache to deal with. I love the features of the programs themselves - the Essentials Antivirus is enough to protect anyone's computer (who won't download dumb crap) and messenger is good (except blocking people in nearly impossible now). It's just the installation that's so...crap, really. You shouldn't be nearly forced ... Read more

Hello

Sorry this might be a dumb question, but will my computer be ok if I opened live messenger and sent a few messges while windows update was being installed on full load on my HDD? I'm kinda worried it would cause some bugs or errors since there was lag when I was typing, opening windows etc wtih live messenger.

A:Using live messenger during windows update installation

Just personal opinion, and others may disagree. I prefer to let Windows Update and other "critical" operations like system images, creation of restore points, etc not have anything else going on in the background. Whenever system files are being accessed, read, or written to, I'd rather have all of my computer's resources concentrating on just that one task. But that's just me.

WLM Lite is not an official Microsoft release. It is edited and patched by some 3rd party and contains a trojan as notified by ESET Nod32 Antivirus. You should not use it.

You might have some left over installation file information in your registry. Try running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and remove any old instances of Messenger and Visual Studios you find in the output list. Download the cleanup file and save. Then run as Administrator.

Downloaded Messenger 2011 onto my new computer recently; however, when I went to open it, it couldn't find the files it needed. Went searching for the program everywhere, nowhere to be found, not even on the Programs List. So, I decided, best thing to do would be to re-download it, but when the new installer opened, it said that the program was already installed, despite its apparent absence from the computer.
There is a similar problem with Adobe Flash - tried to re-download it, but it continues to believe it's on my system. Hopefully I explained the problem well :/

When I download and install Windows Live Email 2011 onto Windows 7 64bit, will the installation automatically
find and install the correct server designations? Will the app then be ready for immediate use or is there anything else I have to do?

A:Solved: Windows Live Mail 2011 Installation on Windows 7 64bit

Windows Live Mail 2012 is the most current version.

I personally use it with Windows 7 32-bit.

If I remember correctly, you need to enter the correct email settings for your Internet Service Provider(ISP) after it's installed.

---------------------------------------------------------

After you download and save the wlsetup-web.exe file, close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to run it.

Make sure to uncheck all the extras you don't want to install with the email app.

If you don't, you'll wind up with a computer full unnecessary apps.

If you're not sure how to install it and set it up, you need to have a computer-knowledgeable person help you.

Recently I had to re-install Vista on my machine. To my surprise even after installing 3 times update problems majorly 8024200D were there. So, I searched here n there on net including this forum but of no process worked. Hence, I decided to go for another installation. Here I will be discussing what I have observed:-

1) Installation : Something changed from Microsoft hence please install Vista as fresh and do not install any driver and/or application except LAN Drivers otherwise, you will face too many error messages during updates. Even after installing LAN driver you might get error# 80070103 but you may ignore this as this is only due to old drivers error.

2) Update : Keep updating your windows till it says no further update available. Please do not use internet except updating your windows otherwise your PC might get infected.

Surprisingly, Original Windows Vista DVD (without Sp1 or SP2) is of around 4GB and updates are of around 2GB and it will take minimum half a day to update your system 100% with good internet speed (minimum 2MBPS).

SP1 is of around 750MB and SP2 is of around 350MB and rest updates are of around 1GB+.

If you have to re-install your OS once or twice a year then you should make image of your system otherwise, updates gonna increase in future and you will be spending hell of the time in updations.

Hello and welcome to the vista forums.

I am going to assume that you have the full version of winds. Since you have done 3 installs I would suggest doing one more but like this.
Clean Install with a Full Version of Vista

I would do a full scan with your AV...
Download and run a full scan from malwarebytes free version...

I would aslo do a sfc scan and here's how...
System Files - SFC Command
If the sfc comes back with problems then run the sfc 3 times, the sfc scan can fix many problems on your computer...

You might also want to do a CHKDSK on your system and her's how to do this one.
Check Disk - chkdsk

I have had Windows Live Messenger installed for a long time and I used to use it a lot, but not so much recently. Tonight I opened it up to try to contact someone and it opened fine, but the window included a message telling me that there was a newer version available and asked if I wanted to get the newer version. I clicked "yes" and an installation process began. I had a choice of things to install, but the only item I selected was Windows Live messenger. The process seemed to take longer than what I would have expected, but I patiently waited until it reached 100% installed. Unfortunately a message appeared telling me that it could not install Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Toolbar (which I had not asked for) and the installation was aborted. It gave an error number 0x80004004 for the Windows Live Messenger and for the Windows Live Toolbar it said it was unable to uninstall an older version of Windows Live Toolbar.

So I figured I would just keep using the version that I had, only that version no longer works. When I click on the icon for Windows Live Messenger I get a message saying that it cannot locate Windows Live Messeger.lnk.

So I went to "Add/Remove Programs" and tried to remove Windows Live Toolbar, but there I got a message saying that it could not find WLToolbar.msi. I then did a "Search" of my hard drive and the search results came up with nothing.

So then I went to www.microsoft.com, searched for Windows Live Messenger, ... Read more

I found an answer on another forum. I went to microsoft.com and downloaded a program named msicuu2.exe. When you install and run it, it displays a list of programs that have been successfully or unsuccessfully installed by a microsoft install program. You can then select one/all of those programs to remove. Although (at least in my case), it didn't really remove the software, it removed whatever it was that was keeping me from being able to install Windows Live Messenger. NO THR RAM AND HDD IS NOT CORRUPTED/BROKEN I have ran multiple tests. The error from formatting is x80070057 and I have tried EVERY SINGLE DISKPART AND BOOTSEC COMMANDS ON THE INTERNET. I have also tried startup repair etc. I booted gparted and it said "Your PNP bios is causing a fatal error" I can't even install a Linux Debian without the formatting process freezing. I also tried booting from CD but it doesn't boot from CD. THE BIOS HAS NO OPTION TO CHANGE AHCII or something like that. I conclude that the bios needs to be updated but I cant do it without a windows Os. There have been over 7 versions of the HP dv 66466us and the change log even states it fixes these problems. The bios comes in a self extracting exe. There is no .bin file. I don't know of its possible to flash the bios with usb without a .bin or something If you have any suggestions please do post. In January I installed the newest version of Windows Live but it didn't work. I got the error code "8000401a". I tried looking it up on their help page but nothing came up. I left it for a few months and used an eMessenger. This past month I tried installing it again and the same thing happened, same error. I contacted Technical Support and they've never even heard of the error code. They gave me a bunch of instructions, which I followed correctly, and the only thing that came from that was Internet Explorer doesn't work anymore. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but nothing is working. I also tried installing an older version on MSN Messenger but when I tried to sign in it said I need to install the newest version, which brings be back to this error code.

Is anyone else having problems like this? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks.

A:Windows Live Error Help

Hotmail was bought by Microsoft. Microsoft renamed Hotmail to Outlook.com and have been slowly moving users over to the servers. You can still use your hotmail email address, just need to get the email in a different way from different servers. Old way was DeltaSync and new way is IMAP. Because they changed both the server names and the mail type, you can't change settings of the current Hotmail profile in WLM. Instead you need to create a new profile and then disable the old so you still have access.

Was there somewhere you were getting stuck with the "Adding IMAP account" instructions in the link you provided? Or did you think the instructions weren't relevant because of the Hotmail>Outlook name change?

Hi I keep getting this error:

Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.

Configuration:

Server: imap.gmail.com
User name: compu.ca06
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): 1
Code: 800ccc0f

My pc has 4GB memory & I have 114GB free on my HDD.

After I have read my e-mails they keep going back to "unread" for a while and much later after opening them again they stay "read". I have no problems surf the net.

Anything I can try?

I looked at alot of links on how to fix this and thought I found it here:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/wiki/livemail-email/windows-live-mail-and-outlook-mail/6edb5ba6-f9f2-40fd-80a1-fc23cc6fbfe0 Except, I'm not using anything that says Outlook or outlook.com. Now I'm more confused than when I started this journey. Can someone help me fix this? I just want it to work in the WLM app. I don't care about the calendar or contacts for the hotmail.com account because I have them in the live.com account. If someone can give me easy to follow steps I would really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

All of a sudden I'm getting error x800CCC0E upon trying to receive mail in Windows 7 (OS) using Windows Live Mail.
This morning it was the same but ending in A so I changed the SMTP setting to 587 - restarted my computer and the same thing happened but that's when the error changed from A to E ending. I thought of doing a System Restore but I did Windows Update and it took forever (lots of updates)....so I didn't want those to be undone. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you! Anna PS: the box saying: server requires authentication is checked.

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, this may possibly be related to your antivirus program. Which do you use?

Also, are you getting any Socket Error's, and if so, what is the number?

Regards

This issue suddenly occurred today - quote :

Unable to send or receive messages for the Yahoo.co.uk (account). The connection to the server has failed.

Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10061

To be clear - I have NOT changed any mail account or server settings since I started using WIN7 and Livemail almost 4 years ago. I am able to send and receive Yahoo account mail using my iPad and using my WIN7 laptop if I access my mail account via the web.I am only unable to send/receive from laptop when trying to connect to mail server today.

I am using MS Security Essentials as my only Antivirus program and have been for at least 2 years. I do not have any other AV program installed

My outgoing mail (SMTP) server port number is set at 587 (changing to 25 has no effect)
Icoming Mail (POP3) is set at 110
Server Timeout is set at 1 minute
Outgoing mail server is checked as "requires authentication"

EDIT - Servers :
Icoming mail (POP 3) is set as pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set as smtp.mail.yahoo.uk

These settings have not been changed since originally established and were working perfectly 2 days ago. I had not accessed mail on the laptop, which had been powered off, for 2 days.
Any ideas ?

Thanks

For the benefit of anyone who has a similar problem .... I eventually found this on the Yahoo web site

Yahoo Mail
We've recently updated our servers for your safety and now require a secure connection when accessing Yahoo Mail from a mobile device or mail client.

If you're using an unsecured connection, you'll receive a connection-related error. Don't worry, here's how to fix it.

POP server settings
Want to access Yahoo Mail from an email program like Outlook or Mac Mail? Here's the settings you'll need.

Incoming Mail (POP) Server - Requires SSLSecure Socket Layer
•Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
•Port: 995
•Requires SSL: Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLSTransport Layer Security
•Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
•Port: 465 or 587
•Requires SSL: Yes
•Requires authentication: Yes
If your POP client doesn't offer TLS, you'll still be able to use SSL.

Login info - Requires authentication

•Email address: Your full email address ([email protected])
•Password: Your account's password.

In my case I simply had to check the SSL box, which automatically set the incoming port to 995. It also set the outgoing to 25, which I reset to 587. Problem solved.

Would have been nice if Yahoo had warned me of the "update" in advance.

I read somewhere that "this is because your Live ID password has expired, go here to reset it by inputting your ID and cliking I Forgot My Password", but when I follow the link provided by the people who say this, I just get exactly the same message as I've copied and pasted directly above.

Please help, someone!

I have recently reinstalled my OS (Win XP Home) and installed "Windows Live Messenger" and I get this error when I try to log in: 8009000b. I have scanned my computer with AVG, Spybot S&D but nothing. WLM currently work for all my friends so Its gotta be my computer.

The only thing I have done is disabling a few services (only ones the says disabled under "safe"): http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Maybe I have disabled something that is needed for Windows Live Messenger?

But I follow that guide after every reinstall and wlm has always worked =/

server pop.siegel.....Click to expand...

That doesn't look like a valid server name, and outgoing email servers don't typically have "pop" as part of the name.

I started getting this error message suddenly when using Windows Live Mail:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Msn (solarguy48) account.
Server Error: 0x800488EB
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'

I can still access my email through msn.com, but it does not have as good an interface.
How do I enable WLM to operate correctly?

I use Windows Vista 32-bit, but it seems to occur in other operating systems in the forums I have visited.

Windows Live Mail - Error
W7 Home Premium SP1 & WLMail 2011, build 15.4.3538.0513

Each time WLM finishes searching for new messages it gives the following error window:

The error always shows up on the last email account installed. I proved this by uninstalling two accounts & reinstalling them in reverse order.

Image 3 - error shown with Gmail account removed.

If all news groups are prevented for searching for new messages the error does not occur. Of course this means that the News Groups are not updated.

Can anyone throw any light on the matter please.

Good job of providing the error message.

When did you download Windows Live Mail?

Which version of WLM are you using?

When did WLM last work correctly.

The problem may be with W L M.
Please see the screen shot I have attached.

Try to be patient and wait a couple of hours. The W L M server may be overloaded with requests, or the server may be on a break, for maintenance.

I am NOT suggesting that you shouldn't be concerned. I am only suggesting patience of 2 to 4 hours.
