I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I've had this laptop for 3 years now, and as of one month the T key started malfunctioning, either by double or triple pressing or just not working at all. As of a few days ago the R and 4 keys have also started doing the same. Anyone know a solution to this?  Thanks, Kevin

My Yoga 2 Pro is closing on 3 years old. A few weeks ago the Backspace, \, and Enter keys began to work when they felt like working. It was fine for a week and now it's happening again. If I use the pop up keyboard, no problems, all keys work.I've air sprayed the keyboard to clear any foreign bodies. Any ideas on where the problem originates and possible solutions?  Thanks in advance.

There was an earlier post asking this question. I had the problem and was able to solve the problem by using the customize keyboard function. To the up arrow key, I assigned the command LineUp. To the down arrow key, I assumed the command LineDown. Worked like a charm.

Just got this Yoga 3 14 series laptop for cheap from a local shop, and it works great on Windows 10 except for one minor but annoying thing. In the Lenovo settings app, the keyboard settings for switching between F keys and the hot keys being on the function row are reversed. If I set it to have hot keys without FN, it instead does the F row functions without FN.If I set it to have F keys without FN, it instead does the hot key functions without FN. Anyone have this problem before, and is there a fix? Many thanks!

Hi, The "5" key and the "L" key on my X1 Yoga Gen 2 seem to be slightly lower than the rest. This causes the sound to be different, as if it's sticking a bit to the bottom. I didn't find any threads relating to this issue, so I was wondering if anyone else has this problem? Thanks.

The keys move down slightly when the lid is closed, so they do not hit the screen.  They may be sticking.  Was anything spilled onto the keyboard?  Are you still under warranty?

I've had my X1 Yoga 3rd Gen for a couple of months, generally very happy with it. Yesterday I noticed the right arrow key (bottom right of the keyboard, under the PgDn key) is broken - not completely, but the left half of it stays depressed when pushed down. Aside from the fact that I'm unhappy this has happened so soon after purchase (and my sense that it may be a function of the retractable keys and that there's more of the same to come), I'd like to know (a) if these keys can be replaced and (b) what I need to purchase and from where. I've had a look at various sites including http://www.laptopkey.com/ and none have any specific reference to the X1 Yoga 3rd Gen. Can anyone help please?

A:X1 Yoga 3rd Gen replacement keys

Since your machine is new or at least less than 1 year old it should be under warranty.  If it was me i would call support to have keyboard replaced.  I have never had a key fall off but have had keys that were "overly" sensitive.  I would hit a nearby key and it would trigger the key next to it as well.  Lenovo replaced the keyboard and problem was solved.

Hello - We have owned this Lenovo Yoga (product specs below) for about 3 years with no issues. suddenly, a handful of keys stopped working from the keyboard.  I can type just fine using an external keyboard, or by using the screen keyboard. The letters that don't work: g, i, o and p.   I updated the bios and all other drivers from the Lenovo site, hoping it was just a driver issue, but it seems pretty obvious that it's a hardware issue.  I deleted the kayboard from device manager and re-installed, as well.  I have swapped out Lenovo keyboards before, but this one looks different.  Using an external keyboard is not a long term possibility for this user.   Any thoughts?  Thank you all!Device:Yoga Laptop (ThinkPad)Machine Type: 20CD00BYUSOS: Windows 10 (64bit)Processor: 1x Intel Core i7-4600U Processor(i7-4600U): Memory: 1x 8GB PC3-12800

Just got a new Yoga 910. One thing is driving me crazy -- it appears the function keys by default require pressing the Fn button. I don't use the alternate things like airplane mode and speaker volume as much and would prefer to have function keys primary and then press fn keys for the quick keys. There is mention of reversing the fn key in the bios, but under configuration I have no hotkey option. I'm running bios 2JCN39WW which appears to be the latest. How do I switch the hotkey / function key priority so I can use F4 and F2 without holding the fn button?

When I press the F3 key, I need the Yoga 920 to interpret this as "F3" and not "Increase sound volume." In the past, certain Lenovo notebooks had a BIOS setting that let you reconfigure the function keys to do just that. I don't believe the Yoga 920 has this BIOS setting (why don't all Yoga models have a similar BIOS structure is beyond me). I have an excellent Microsoft external keyboard that allows you to lock the function key, simply by pressing "Fn" (a small light turns on in the "Fn" key, similar to the "CapsLk" key.) Any suggestions? It can't be this difficult, can it?

Hi waqas_a  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Ideally it would be best to isolate it with an external USB keyboard and check if same thing would happen .

How about on the onscreen keyboard under ease of access.

From how you describe it , seems tending to be more of a mechanical contact issue .
Noting the proximity of n-m , v-b , spacebar - enter .

You can air can clean it for particles causing this . Any incident of liquid spill?
You can check on the hardware manual from the support site for guide if you have the shill and tools to dissassemble the keyboard for cleaning else if you have an active warranty do call in tech support for assistance / local service center.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

I'm running Win ME and just ran Spyware Doctor to check for malware. After the scan, I went to word and find that now, when I click on the Tab key, the cursor doesn't move to the next field. Instead, it functions as though I pressed Alt Tab and moves me to the previous screen. I would like to restore the Tab key to it's normal functioning so I don't have to press the space bar to move the cursor to tab stops.

Thanks,

I was doing some tech support for my mom regarding screen captures and discovered the print screen key (and eventually the F12 key as well) is not working, on an otherwise fully functional keyboard.  The laptop in question is a Yoga13 running Windows 8.1 (Yes, it survived the forced Windows 10 update era) It will be needed tomorrow, so I didn't want to do anything drastic just yet; I've rebooted the computer and cleaned the keyboard as much as possible (those chiclet style keys don't pop off the way old style keys did, so cleaning under them is problematic).  No effect. I've found workarounds for all of the features assigned to these keys - the onscreen keyboard handles the normal F12 and PrintScreen functions, and Power Options allows for brightness adjustments independent of the F12's special function (which is good, because I cranked the brightness way down testing the keyboard - F11 works just fine), but we'd rather not have to deal with these solutions long term. We had the keyboard replaced at a reputable computer repair shop a while back - I'll be getting in touch with the proprietor there tomorrow, and I've already made a post on TechSupportForum.  I'll keep you posted on what I try based on their advice.

Hello all, I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20FY0002US), which was purchased 14 months ago, so it is just out of warrenty. It worked great, although I only use it when I travel. Starting from a few days ago, some of keys of it are not working. The keys in the middle as wel as the function keys are fine.   I believe that It is not an issue related to the windows, but the problem exists even in the BIOS. Hi! So my Yoga 2 just turned 2 years old a few days ago and now it's acting up; the volume display keeps going up to max volume and every time I try to mute the laptop it just keeps showing that green bar notification. My touchpad doesn't work (but my mouse does), and if I have a program that has more than one window (i.e. word documents or chrome windows), then it cancels out when I hover towards the window. I know that my up volume button is jammed since every time I try to turn it down it just goes up again. Is it possible to disable my physical volume keys so the jammed button won't register and keep changing the volume?

I could feel that the arrow keys on my machine were a little wobbly from the beginning, but now both of them pop out very easily.  I?ve inspected the black key cap itself, as well as the white plastic clips on the mounting bracket that the key cap attaches to. There doesn?t appear to be damage to either part, but the keys won?t stay firmly in place. Tried carefully reattaching it according to guides from laptopreplacement key,  but to no avail.  Wondering if others have had this issue and how it was resolved. Laptop is 5 months old and gently used. Bought the machine in the U.S., but working is South Korea currently, so not sure how difficult getting warranty service will be here or if it?s possible.

Normally I have to hold down the fn key and then a function key in order to do something. For example I need to hold fn and then click F1 if I want to mute the sound. Today all of a sudden, I did not have to hold down the fn key anymore. This means that the ways fn and the function keys interact have switched. I was wondering why this would have happened out of nowhere and if I should be worried? I have looked all over and I definitely have not accessed the BIOS and fn+esc just changes the screen to paper display. How could I have changed the way fn and the function keys have been working?
