Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 Broken Screen

Q: Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 Broken Screen

My laptop's screen is shattered and is no longer protected under warranty. I have been having a very hard time locating the correct replacement part for the model which is a ThinkPad Yoga 12. I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction, as replacing a screen is far cheaper than buying a new laptop. cheers!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,  The display of my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga first generation broke and the guarantee has not expired yet. Also the display has quite some scratches from the keyboard when closing the laptop (which as I've read is a common problem with this model). Is the replacement covered by guarantee? I've already had the laptop sent in some time ago due to a cracked cover, which somehow got larger over time without ever dropping it (also a common problem as I've read in some forums and heard from people I know that experienced the same problem).  I'm looking forward to an answer,  Thanks in advance! Anton

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Yoga 3 laptop screen is broken but the computer appears to still be working. Is there a way to move the login screen to an external monitor ? I've got a monitor that I've used with that laptop connected and the mouse cursor shows up there but I can't find a way to disable the laptop screen so that the login prompt is on the external monitor. The function key f9 switches the laptop screen but laptop doesn't switch over to the external monitor... Any help would be most appreciated, thanks

The symptoms:One day when you've opened or closed the lid as you would with normal use, you here a pop and notice that the screen has separated from the lid body in one of the corners near the hinge (the screen glass may or may develop a crack a that point). If you chose to do nothing though, this problem will only get worse and, eventually, the screen glass will crack.  The problem:The root cause of the problem is the use of glue/adhesive applied by the manufacturer to keep hinge assembly attached to lid body. After a while the glue fails to hold the hinge in place and it separates from the lid. When that happens (with a pop), the hinge mounting plate (made of steel) is now moving freely between the screen and the lid so when you try to move the lid, it's pushing against the back of the screen causing screen glass to bend outward. This applies to ALL Lenovo Yoga series notebooks as their hinge design is the same and Lenovo is aware of it... but choses to do nothing. Support:Given that Lenovo designed this hinge and chose the materials and methods to assemble it, you would think that it would take the responsibility for it failing to last passed warranty. Unfortunately, no such luck. When you call support, you get nothing but denial and blame for mishandling their state-of-the-art product and causing it to fail. So you end up with a total disappointment on your hands and a bitter taste of unfairness. Repair:The hinge can be repaire... Read more

I haven't seen any topics that seem to quite replicate the specific problem I have, so here I am.Without warning, the screen of my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e tablet-notebook will turn black. It appears to be an "active" black rather than the screen turning wholly off. The rest of the computer is working normally during these times: audio carries on, keyboard and mouse input function, and nothing else seems to shut down or turn off. Keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen input causes the screen to return to normal briefly, but the only way to make it stop happening for sure is to restart the computer. I don't think it's connected to sleep functions, given that it happens while I'm actively using the computer.I don't know exactly why this happens, but it usually happens after long periods of use. At least once it has happened within an hour or so of being turned on for the first time that day, but I had a great deal of Chrome tabs open and that may have been similarly taxing. While this problem is not exactly disastrous, it is pretty annoying and well outside the acceptable boundaries of computer behavior, especially for a device I have had for only a few months. I would greatly appreciate help in rectifying this problem.

I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello everyone.   We are fairly new to the Lenovo community and have started to deploy the Yoga X390 to some of our more travel heavy employees.   A couple of them have come up to me with this odd problem.   Let me set it up for you... User has 2 external monitors plus uses his laptop screen.   In the case of the screenshot below, he had MS Teams open full screen on the laptop screen.   He disconnects from the dock and this artifact of Teams (In the red box) stays on the screen until he reboots.    This will happen with whatever application is open on the laptop screen when disconnected from the doc.   We have updated the display adapter driver with no change in result.   We pushed the Thunderbolt updates when they were announced late last year and confirmed success.   Any ideas?

I've just bought a Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga (this one: https://www.lenovo.com/de/de/laptops/thinkpad/l-series/ThinkPad-L13-Yoga/p/22TPL13L3Y1) with both a touchscreen and a so-called "Thinkpad Pen Pro" stylus for handwriting. On my Manjaro installation (Arch Linux with gnome) the pen works like a broken mouse, allowing me to move the cursor around and execute left-clicks upon pressing it into the screen really hard. However, Both of the pen's buttons do nothing and I can neither use it to select text nor to draw lines in graphics software such as Krita. It is also not registered by gnome's settings no matter how much I move the pen around, resulting in a picture that looks like this:As much as I love Linux, not being able to take handwritten lecture notes is kind of a big dealbreaker for me right now... Do any of you have experience with Yogas and their pen support for Linux systems? Or do I really need to downgrade to Windows 10 again?

I followed the old thread asking similar things but I am not able to find any parts for L380 Yoga. I tried: https://lenovo.encompass.com/ https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-l-series-laptops/thinkpad-... If I enter  number starting 20M******** it says no matchIf I enter serial number R90***** it says no matchif I enter MB number WIK******* it says no match I think Lenovo is actively hiding the replacement parts so that people are forced to buy another same laptop. I am sick to my stomach. What I need is touchpad with two clicker, touch LCD paenl, glass cover.  If I could afford it, I would swap everything above besel because it is bended. Thank you in advance for all the sugeestion you may give. I am lost.  I run linux so I gather all the info with lshw and BIOS screen.  Search box is asking for model number but there is no such thing listed in BIOS or lshw command.

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 730 15" Laptop a couple months ago. I have never misused or mishandled it but tonight when switching from tablet mode to regular mode, there was a problem with the right hinge. Part of the right hinge popped off and now it seems that the screen (the glass part) is coming apart from the back of the laptop, especially when closing the computer. I don't know what to do as I am worried that further damage may occur to the computer/screen and this is a great concern as I have had it for such a short period of time. I am unsure as to what caused it to break as I was handling it quite normally but I think there may have been a problem with the hinge when it was manufactured as it was a little loose before it popped off. Thank you in advance for any help.

Bought my lenovo yoga 720 13inch from my dads friend about 6 months ago. He used the laptop for a few months and left it with my dad when he left the country. I used the laptop for a while just to check it out and fell in love with it. So i asked my dad if he could buy it from him, he agreed but his friend sold it barely below the original price as it was'nt used much. 6 months in, i'm enjoying everything about this laptop and suddenly the right hinge breaks and cracks half of the screen. I was absolutely devastated as i had no warranty and repairing it would be expensive. With much effort i convinced my dad to send it for repairs and was able to use for another month before it broke again. Money gone down the drain. After a bit of research i found out that many people had the same problem, i just feel so cheated. I'm about to go into university with no laptop and i'm doing an IT degree. My dad won't fund me as he's already paid so much for the laptop, I might have to start part time work now just to get money for a new laptop. No words can explain how dissapointed i am at lenovo as this isn't a problem caused by the customer, rather a fault with the companies engineering (you can't tell me thousands of people who've experienced the same problem are the cause of it). It's a shame because I loved everything about this laptop and believed it was worth every penny. I feel worse for my dad who has to see his hard earned money go down the drain. heres a pic of the b... Read more

Hi guys, I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 last week from an online seller here in Germany. When it arrived, I did a full system check to make sure everything is working on this close to ? 1400 machine. It turns out everything except the internal microphone is working fine. Specifically, I cannot use the microphone whatsoever. I just hear a loud, static noise when I listen to the mic through the speakers. When I say something, I don't hear anything I say though, only the static.  So I tried updating all my drivers and playing around with the properties of my microphone like changing levels up to all the way down and disabling/enabling various sound effects. All this didn't resolve my issue. So I tried more invasive stuff like updating my BIOS and, as a last resort, reset Windows 10. To all avail, this also didn't resolve my issue. So I am out of answers now and suspecting that my built-in microphone has been poorly shielded or has some broken wire somewhere.  What do you guys think? I can't find anything about microphone issues on the Yoga 900 and wanted to make sure that it's in fact a hardware fault.
