All-in-One Windows Driver Update

Q: All-in-One Windows Driver Update

Does anyone else with a HP23se All-in-One PC using Windows 10 operating system continue to have problems with driver updates? My computer doesn't appear to be compatiable with some driver udpates and support has told me that I will have re-install old drivers every 14-15 days for the system to operate properly. I've only have the computer for 6 months and this has been an issue since the first month. I'm interested in knowing if anyone has found a solution other than calling tech support each time.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a FLEX 215 running the new Creators Update.  After I installed this update, Windows update  keeps offering me the ethernet driver even though I already have this latest ethernet driver already installed.   I tried downloading the latest ethernet driver from Lenovo website and went through setup steps and repair option.  When I checked again it did not says "Windows is up to date and the time".  It kept trying to install the ethernet driver.

Is this happening to anybody else?  Please help

Hi, and thanks in advance...

Much of this is a repeat to other threads, until the graphic driver problem at the end...

(I also have an Ubuntu partition.)

I'd left my mp3 player plugged in overnight + an Asus Xonar DAC in a usb hub, when Windows wanted to do an update and conflict over drivers ensued. Strange, because I've selected for notification before updating. Also, have not been successful installing any new updates since the end of May. Was seemingly a common problem, I checked into it, too busy/lazy to pursue and succeed. This part is confusing...?

Woke up to blasting fans and unplugged everything peripheral. First, tried setting back to restore points prior to that night - twice. Could restart in Safe Mode and with networking. Then, could restart normally - but, shutdowns after 20 minutes or so.

Got crash logs, saw driver conflicts (not found) - saved.

Came here, read threads, did restart at Last Known Good Configuration. Restart - Nvidia Geforce driver not found. Went to Asus site, downloaded and installed driver (not lastest version, but last approved version and not much later than one that was installed).

It then went into a system cycled start/restart/etc. attempting to find driver, fix itself - forced to do shutdown to stop it.

Restarted this morning in Safe Mode, followed your instructions for posting. It's been running in safe mode for about 20 minutes now.

Hi,
I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number 8.15.10.1590. So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

Windows Display Driver Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
that should be a good read....

what they mean pre-release means that these drivers are beta drivers (there is a difference between pre-release drivers and pre-release wddm 1.1 drivers)

I am unable to update the Kernel-mode driver framework ver 1.11 for windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB2685811). I get error: 80073712

Also, I am getting BSOD/stop errors in normal mode that say anything from:

I'm not sure if they are related.

When I run in safemode I do not get the BSOD. When in normal mode I will get BSOD consistently when running Norton Full System Scan, specifically when the full system scan gets to the Windows/system32 folder.

System specs:
Processor: Intel 2500K Core Duo Unleashed
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-p67A-UD3P
RAM: I have 4x4 Corsair Vengeance, only using 1 stick of 4GB corsair vengeance currently due to troubleshooting.

A:Unable to install Windows Update: Update Kernel-mode driver framework

I, again, apologize for double posting. I figure I should include the host of other issues I'm having. Maybe they can all be inter related.

-my DVD/RW drive, when connected to mother board in ANY SATA slot, causes the BIOS screen to freeze forever. I have disconnected the drive at this time while trouble shooting. I have tried known-good SATA cables so I know it's either the DVD/RW drive or perhaps a driver or mobo failure.

-I have run the memory diagnostic tool in windows. No issues were reported.

-I have NOT run memtest86 because I do not have a disk drive connected.

-I have had stop-errors (BSODS) such as PFN_list_corrupt, System_service_Exception, Memory_management, IRQ_not_less_or_Equal
All of these could be a result of bad RAM.

I have purchased new RAM as a means to fix my problems. It seemed to work for 2 weeks, then the stop errors returned.

I have a P51 20HH and it refuses to update to Windows 10 1903 due to a complaint of an old version of the Intel RST driver.  I tried following all the instructions to update the driver at both the Intel site, and the official RST driver here on the Lenovo site for P51 downloads.  None actually did anything.  They appeared to work, but actually didn't do anything because the driver update software didn't see any hardware to update.  I turned on debug output on the driver update script and it basically said nothing was applied since there was nothing to do. In my case with the P51 20HH, the driver files are all there but there is zero evidence (Device Manger, etc) that any of them are in use.  I don't have Optane, RAID, etc.  Microsoft update sees the driver as an old version so it won't do the Windows update.  Meanwhile, the Intel driver install packages don't see the driver as usable, so it won't apply the update!  It is a lock out.  So, my solution for the P51 20HH was to rename C:\Windows\System32\drivers\iaStorA.sys to something else.   Proceed with caution with this solution, because if your machine is really using RST, this could cause your storage to become inaccessable, which might put you in a bad boot loop and require a BIOS boot to recovery media.  You should absolutely verify that Device Manager (Storage controllers) does not list anything Intel.  Renaming the driver requires admin priv... Recently Windows updated my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver. A few days later the same driver was released on Dell's driver support page.
Is there any correlation between Windows Update and Dell's drivers? Who does update the drivers Microsoft themselves or Dell needs to release the driver to Microsoft?
As this is the first time when Windows updated the driver is this how the Intel HD Graphics drivers are to be kept up-to-date via Windows Update?

A:Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

ZINGAM,
Referring to the Intel HD graphics driver.
Windows gets code from Intel for the driver and they will implement it in the OS. Dell also gets code from Intel and will release it. Also, Intel will post the driver on their site to download. You can uninstall the Microsoft driver if you choose and install the Dell update driver.

Windows Update is not telling me I need or can update my Wireless networking, but Intel's Update Driver Utility says I should and is offering the update. How would you recommend I proceed?

A:Should I trust Intel's Driver Update utility or Windows Update?

G'day Rolo,

The difference between the two drivers is that the Windows one is digital signed/tested by Microsoft. I would say that unless the Intel one delivers more benefit than the Windows one, and everything works as expected, then there is no need to update.

You often see this with graphics card drivers too, for example.

Hi,
I see that in the Anniversary I can't no more AVOID the automatic search and download of drivers.

I want to STOP this, I want myself to choice my driver and update them.

I read that in "gpedit.msc" > "Windows Update" > "Do not include drivers with WU" > ENABLE

And I did, BUT, Windows Update still see drivers to update such Intel HD, Touchpad, etc.

Why?

On Windows 10 Pro, Version 1511, Build 10586, I've hidden troublesome Nvidia driver updates, using the wushowhide troubleshooter package for Windows 10.

Even with the updates hidden, the next time an update check/cycle is triggered, the Nvidia driver updates are detected and installed. Upon rebooting normally after the driver updates are installed, I see a Windows STOP error (blue screen of death) shortly after signing on Windows.

I can remove the driver updates by uninstalling the associated applications/packages through the Programs and Features control panel. I've also tried to first remove the display adapter in Device Manager, selecting the option to Delete the driver software for this device then removing the associated applications/packages in Programs and Features. As long as I do this before rebooting (after the driver updates are installed), I don't see STOP errors and I can then install an older Nvidia driver that works without STOP errors. If the driver update happens to slip in unnoticed, I can reboot in Safe Mode, sign on and proceed with driver application/package removal, then reboot normally.

The latest (but older) Nvidia driver published by Dell for this laptop apparently works fine (no STOP errors):

But the latest "compatible" Nvidia driver from Windows Update produces frustrating STOP errors, resulting in a largely unusable system:

I've also tried this method to blocking/hiding the Nvidia driver updates, but the result is the same: W... Read more

A:Can't hide NVIDIA driver update in Windows Update

I'm cautiously optimistic I found a reasonable workaround (requires the Pro edition of Windows), by using AppLocker to disallow executables signed by Nvidia to run. This way I can leave the Windows Update service enabled and don't need to constantly fight the Nvidia driver updates that I supposedly "hid" using the wushowhide troubleshooter. For anyone else in this or a similar predicament:

Right-click the Start button and click Run, or use the + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command dialog.

In the Open text box, type gpedit and click OK.

Expand Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Application Control Policies > AppLocker > Executable Rules. Right-click in the pane on the right and click Create New Rule... In my case, I created a Publisher rule with action Deny for Everyone, and used an Nvidia driver installer file as the reference file to capture the Publisher information.

Create exceptions as necessary. Since I want the older (already installed) Nvidia driver of my choice to function, I created a wildcard Path exception for the Nvidia Program Files folder.

Hope this is helpful...

Help.
I was at the Windows Update site and a new driver was available for my ATI Video Card. I downloaded the update and when I reboot I get the New Hardware found. The wizard starts but no new driver is found no matter where I look. Cancelling the Wizard does no good as it keeps popping back up (7 times). Now I have seven "?" devices. Every reboot brings the New Hardware scenario back again.

Where can I find the files I need to delete to resolve this problem.

VGA driver Update for windows 10

I have upgraded to Windows 10 from Widows 8.1 (pre-installed) , on my "ACER Aspire E1 472P- 6491" laptop by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer and successfully activated Windows 10 .

As per ACER ( Acer | explore beyond limits ) , the VGA driver for windows 10 should be updated ( downloaded & installed ) to ?NVIDIA VGA Driver 10, ver- 18.13.5350? . The Laptop "ACER Aspire E1 472P- 6491" has got ? INTEL HD Graphics Card ? .

I want to know if ?NVIDIA VGA Driver 10, ver- 18.13.5350? will be suitable for the INTEL card/hardware ? Will this not create any display or other problems later . I have come to know that many people have faced problems after upgradation of BIOS & drivers. Shall welcome comments from experts and/or someone who has upgraded VGA drivers after Windows 10 installation . Thanks

I usually let Windows sort out the drivers during the upgrade and let it run for a while. Often the default choice of driver by Windows will be fine. Certainly in your case the nVidia driver would not be the right choice for the Intel graphics card.

the imaged, MDT latest version, and deployed it to a couple of test machines.  Here is where I am running into a problem...
I am unable to update any drivers on either of the machines.  Getting the same symptom when the image comes from a Virtual machine.  Checked the Group Policy to make sure that everything under the device configuration was set to no.

People,

My video card is an nVidia GeForce4 MX 420; & I've had some performance problems lately related to a digital audio multitracking app upgrade (SONAR XL 2.2 > SONAR4.) Because of a more graphic intensive design, normal functions (scrolling, navigation, playback, etc.) bogg down redraw & slow overall operation.

Wanting to have the latest video driver, I went to the nVidia site & downloaded v6.6.9.3. This was three weeks ago.

Today, Windows Update kicked in; & a scan of my system revealed I needed the latest Windows video driver for the nVidia GeForece4 MX 420...v52.16 ???

So my questions are:

1) First of all...why the difference (in #'s) between the two versions? (are they different?)
2) Does the Windows Update function for this area kick in because my machine came with this video card from Dell...as installed in the new machine? (or...does it somehow recognize the Dell OEM XP OS?)
3) Why is Windows prompting me to download this driver anyway...doesn't it recognize the driver from nVidia as the latest version?
4) Which is a better driver (Mfg. or Windows)?

Thanks,

A:AGP Driver Update: Mfg. or Windows?

I almost never use Windows Update to get driver updates. The latest and best source for a driver is from the manufacturer. In this case its NVIDIA. Microsoft does not always have the latest driver listed in Windows Update and their method of determining version numbers is badly flawed. The drivers on Windows Udpate are still supplied by the manufacturer(NVIDIA).

Your new driver is 66.93, the other is 52.16 so your current driver is newer. Now newer does not mean better. You can choose to install the MS provided driver and see if it resolves your issues.

Nvidia also lists older drivers for download, users of older cards sometimes find they work better then new drivers which are aimed more at new video cards, the 52.16 is listed there as well:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

Also, see if you have DirectX 9.0c installed. Go to Start -> Run -> DXDIAG and see what version it lists. You can also run through some video and sound diagnostics there. DirectX should be listed as a Windows Udpate but not a Critical one, run the Custom scan at the Windows update site.

I have using DriverMax for the past year and I find it to be usefully as long as you watch which drivers you are updating. Some times driver updated are shown for a device but that device isn't apart of your system. Or DriverMax will show an update for a device that is in your system but the driver may cause BSoD. How do you keep your drivers updated? does anybody know of a good website database to track driver versions?

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 15 9560.  Until recently I have been using a Logitech MX Anywhere 2 mouse which is paired to the laptop's bluetooth (BT).  A few days ago, however, I noticed the mouse did not work.
On further investigation I found that the laptop's BT was not on and the button to activate it had disappeared from the windows 10 action centre panel thing.  I have checked the device manager and the BT section has disappeared; on viewing hidden items there is no BT hardware entry.
I recently updated some drivers following an notification from the Dell Update service. It seems very likely that the updates and loss of BT are related.  The updates were primary Intel chipset related stuff (I cannot find an update history in the Dell Update software so I'm not 100% sure).
I tried to use system restore yesterday from several previous points created over the last few driver and windows updates, but all the restores failed.  I tried also to do the restore by booting windows into troubleshooting mode; same result.  Checking again today, and now all the system restore points have disappeared so that option is gone even if it had worked.
I tried to do a check using the Dell diagnostic software but it says there is no BT hardware to check.
I got the latest BT drivers directly from Qualcomm (10.0.0.309) but their installation made no difference.  I also reinstalled the drivers using Dell Support (Killer Wireless AC Driver 10.0.0279) - no jo... Read more

I've searched for solutions to this problem as best I could, but didn't find anything exactly like what I'm experiencing, so thanks in advance for your patience with the newbie if I've missed something that covers this. I include bold not to be annoying, but to hopefully make this more scannable since I err on the side of a high level of detail. Thank you again!!!

I have a machine I built nearly two years ago that will not boot following upgrading the Motherboard utility update software (MSI Live Update 5 to MSI Live Update 6). I'm not sure if that's really the correct terminology. More details below, but system specs first

Processor: Intel i7 4770K 3.5 GHz
Motherboard: MSI z87-G43
RAM: 16 GB (2 x Patriot 8 GB 1600 MHz)
Video Card: MSI R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, SP 1

As background, I had been having trouble attempting to get USB 3 to function properly on my machine and over the past several months, had tried update drivers using the MSI Live Update software provided with the motherboard, but USB 3 wasn't critical to my day to day use, so I just let it go when no updates for drivers could be found with that software (this was live update 5). I was curious why the LiveUpdate 5 software seemed to have not been updated for a long time, but figured if it ain't broke... Then, the most recent Windows Update was installed (3/8 or 3/9), and following that, it seems that that knocked down some barrier that was preventing MSI... Read more

I am using Asus Notebook K46CA with windows 10 latest build. And windows 10 always mess up my Asus Gesture (except the original 1024 build)

I did try to fix this issue by downloading driver from asus and install it. But then Windows 10 Update forced installed "Asus driver..." and wiped out entirely my Asus Gesture even nothing left in the "Program File" folder.

So what should i do with this? I don't wanna disable windows update or reinstall driver again and again.
Please help, thanks!

A:Trouble with driver from windows update

Hello nheolinkin, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you like, you should be able to hide the driver in Windows Update to prevent it from being available until a new version is available next.

Windows Updates - Hide or Show in Windows 10

After you have installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on Aug. 2nd, you will be able to prevent drivers from being available in Windows Update if you like.

Ok, I downloaded the ethernet drivers for my PC. But when I installed them, Windows 7 auto-updated the drivers to Microsoft ones. The drivers were made for Windows Vista, which may be the reason, but I don't think it is. It was for my graphics card. Note that the W7 ones weren't found on nVidia's website. I was stuck with 640 x 480 at 16-bit color.

Dear readers, I'm your typical online gamer, so when I noticed something wrong after trying to open up R.O.S.E. Online (roseon.com) I decided to ask for assistance here.Well, R.O.S.E. Online has a patcher (an .exe) that updates the game with all the new content they implement -- it is a MMORPG after all. About two weeks ago I had no problem playing it, all ran smoothly, the graphics were in tip top shape, etc. All went well until I took an extended break away from gaming and focused on research.Anyways, today I went to open it and sat here as it patched as usual. It ran, at first, correctly like it should of. But then I was greeted with a blue screen error.WindowsVWIN32 (05) + 000012D0 Error : 0E : 0028 C02A44A8I shrugged and thought it could of been the other programs I was running (instant messangers, etc). So I closed everything down and tried again. Same problem. So I restarted the computer, and tried again. Same problem. I decided to kick up my spyware/adware/malware/trojan/etc programs and ran the usual session that most people do. One or two adwares were found, but nothing bigger. Until I used a-square 2. It located two trojans and two viruses in my Sun/Java folder (I had installed java for mozilla firefox a week back). Quickly I made sure to do away with them and all seemed well for two more days or so. Until I decided I'd like to play R.O.S.E. Online again. So, I repeated the proccess. Opening it up after closing all programs down, trying to let it patch, on... Read more

Hi there,

I have just applied some Windows Updates today (25/01/2011), and have found that my USB Bluetooth dongle has stopped working. It was working fine before the updates, but now all I have is the device in the Device Manager list, showing Bluetooth Radios, then CSR Bluetooth 3.0 with a question mark next to it.

The updates I applied are:

- Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Audio, Other hardware - CSR BlueCore Nanosira

and then immediately after came this one:

- Cambridge Silicon Radio Limited - Audio, Other hardware - CSR Bluetooth 3.0

Now I am unable to roll back the drivers, and after a trawl of the Internet I can't find a replacement. Please can anyone let me know if they have experienced the same issue, and if they have been able to find a resolution?

Thanks,

CB.

Have you tried updating driver from within the device manager? It would help greatly if we had the complete make and model of said piece of hareware.

To try and make a very long story extremely short, I have been trying to nail down this particular issue and have had no luck. Old laptop, a Dell Inspiron E1505 with an ATI X1400, that has ran perfectly fine with 7 and equally so with 8 save for a few minor nagging issues. Namely a recurring issue with the video card drivers:

Under the dell provided drivers (only have up to Vista available and 32 bit only) or drivers provided by Windows Update, full screen non-native resolution applications like games will fill the screen. But if I choose any other driver such as a Mobility Modded directly sourced ATI/AMD driver, the screen is 'postage-stamped' (basically pixel mapped 1:1 with the extra space blacked out) even though the Bios option for screen expansion is enabled.

Windows 7 provided drivers off Windows Update for the GPU which worked fine in this case. Unfortunately they aren't provided in 8. I have went out to the WU catalog and grabbed that same driver and tried in 8 and it always fails. If memory serves it mentions something about missing files somewhere. I will have to try again and get the exact message.

I would like to stay with 8 as there are some features I really enjoy and as far as performance and reliability go on this particular laptop, it runs just as well if not better than Vista or 7 did. Dual core C2D T7200, 2GB ram, 128MB dedicated ATI X1400, upgraded to 60GB SSD with a 500GB platter in the optical bay, 1680x1050 LCD. But this particular bug keeps coming ... Read more

A:Installing GPU driver from Windows Update under 7?

If you update the driver and it causes problems, just use the Rollback driver option (in Device Manager) to roll back to the previous driver. That should prevent having to reinstall.

Some of the problems could be the motherboard chipset drivers. One of the prime things the chipset drivers do is properly identify all the devices on or attached to the motherboard. I used to do a lot of support on the Dell users forums and the chipset drivers were almost always key to a successful install. The Vista motherboard chipset drivers should still be valid for Win7/Win8. Unfortunately, since Dell does not support anything above Vista 32 bit (this is a relatively "old" technology PC) you are basically on your own. One thing that I've seen mentioned several times (and I had to do it with a new AMD Radeon HD7770 video card) is to completely uninstall the old video drivers before installing new ones. Uninstall the drivers, run Driver Detective (Driver Fusion) to root out any leftover ATI/AMD files, restart the PC and then do a comlete new install.

I have disable the in the settings for hardware installations for driver installations as i like to update driver myself such as sound drivers, network and video drivers. Those are basically the 3 drivers that i update including security updates. By using wushowhide, i can see the drivers updates that have been block such as intel pci serial port root, watchtimer and lpc controller and etc. Does it improve performance or should i leave it alone? What does updating those driver do?

A:Windows Update Driver Updates

I can only speak for myself, others may have different views. I recently had a number of problems related to Windows 10 Updates [including drivers].

For the present my policy is to go directly to the relevant manufacturer for driver updates. A review over a number of forums, Intel in particular reveals Intel and Microsoft apparently unable to resolve problems caused by updates. I'll stick with Intel for the moment.

I have a client whose PC I have not had a chance to look at yet. Her issue is as follows...

A week or 2 ago, her PC auto-downloaded the Windows XP updates, and afterwards she was not able to get on the internet from that PC, but confirmed the internet connection was good (XBOX was able to connect). After rebooting, she went to network connections - no LAN connection present. She called Gateway (mfg of PC) who stated they are aware of the Windows XP updates corrupting the NIC drivers and have had "thousands of reports" similar to hers. They emailed her a link to the new NIC driver and advised her to reinstall it. She downloaded it (from work), put on USB stick, brought home, installed w/ no success...still no LAN connection in control panel. As far as I know, she has not re-contacted Gateway. She ran Windows restore back to a date she knew the Internet worked, no sussess, same symptoms. One idea which I haven't had her try yet is to try and ping 127.0.0.1 to verify NIC. I am going to her house to assist tonight and am looking for any input. I did some google searches and was unable to find anything from Microsoft or Gateway. I'm thinking if I can't get her current NIC working, I might just buy her a new one. Has anyone heard of this issue? Any ideas to repair?

Thanks
-Ray

Hi, My hp is 6 years old. it updated itself to windows 10 early this year. last night it was doing a windows update and there was a problem.  now when it boots up it will get to the windows startup window, then the screen goes black. I am trying to update the bios driver. When I go into the system startup, it shows the operating system as windows 7. where can I find an updated bios driver for my system. Thanks

A:need update driver for windows 10 for hp laptop

Hello @fabybabyhp There are no Windows 10 driver updates for your system as HP only supported Win 7 drivers.IF you were running Windows 10 as an upgrade, you would do best to clean re-install Win 10 now.  You would need an 8 GB USB flash drive and use the MS Media Creation Tool to make the media with from a different computer.https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/ Tap the ESC key at power up and choose the Boot Options (F9) to boot from you USB media.Follow the prompts. But it could be that you can get away with reverting back to a restore point. You would still need the Windows install  media to start the computer in Safe Mode. Then do the restore point to roll back prior to the update causing the issue.Click the link below and go to the section for Entering Safe Mode from outside Windows.http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03439317#AbT1 If you can get Safe Mode to boot, you can revert back to a restore point.http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545 Let me know if you need further instructions.

I am having issues with both. I have a windows 7 64 bit preinstalled. The windows update is behaving oddly. When you hit the ?Check for updates? it looks for them, then doesn?t find them most of the time, say the firewall maybe blocking it. What is odd at the same time, the windows update icon by the clock, shows it downloading updates. Just in case it is Windows firewall, how do I allow windows update through the windows firewall. Step by step instruction, I am not familiar with the newer windows firewall. I need to know the name of Windows Update executable, so I can add it to the firewall exception list.

Like I said above I have a 64 bit machine that maybe the problem. Hp claims W7 will install the default OS driver. No luck. I don?t know if the other suggestion about downloading updated driver list from windows 7 worked or not due to my issue with Windows Update.

Yes, I am still on a dial-up, so I can?t download windows 8.1 full install plus I don?t know if that will fix the issue anyway.
Thank You in advance.

A:Windows Update & Printer Driver.

hi groze. welcome to the forums.

what anti-virus are you using if any?

you also mention that you are on dialup? so are you allowing enough time for windows to download the necessary updates?

i wouldn't beleive that the standard firewall with win7 would block win7 updates?

also can i ask if you are using a original copy of win7?
