Outlook Setup for iCloud could not be started

Q: Outlook Setup for iCloud could not be started

"Outlook Setup for iCloud could not be started because of an unexpected error."

How to solve this without knowing what error is causing this?

I have tried reinstalling Office and iCloud (run as administrator) but no luck. Is Windows 10 compabtible for iCloud? Apple says no and Microsoft says yes.......

How could i fix this problem?

It did worked before, but it slowed down my computer so much that i decided to reinstall the Office package. Everything worked ok after the reinstall and Office programs are running ok. Only I can't get iCloud to sync with Outlook anymore.

Thanks for the help.

I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

I have this problem, also. Would appreciate any help. It worked initially, but sync was not working. I then signed out in order to sign back in, but not possible.

I have windows 7 and outlook 2010 on a PC. When linking to icloud and enabling it to synch with icloud, icloud took the contacts off my computer (at least it seems that way). In trying to resolve the issue and talking with Apple and Omnitech, a variety of solutions were tried. I now have all my contacts in the right categories showing up on my PC, but it appears that they are not on the PC but in the cloud. My goal is to copy one of my categories, mailing list, into a  new separate folder in the folder list in order to use it to merge with Word and make labels. In the past, I could right click on the mailing list category and drag it to the new folder that I created. It would then ask if I wanted it to copy the file there or move it. I copied it to the new folder and then was able to merge it with word. Currently, when I try to drag the file to the folder, it indicates that this action can not be done. It appears to me that the reason this is occurring is that the contact file is in the cloud not on the computer.  ?? I would like to create a file with my contacts on the PC with the contacts in the right categories and not duplicating what is currently showing up from the cloud. I believe once I do this I will again be able to copy the category to the new folder.

I hope I'm in Windows 7 forum.

Like a fool I dowloaded iCloud and sent all my contacts to iCloud. Now, when I open a contact and make a notation then want to enter a reminder, I get the message "the item is in a folder that does not support reminders". Well, something like that. How can I go back to the way it was - without iCloud? I don't want iCloud. All the help is on Apple forum and I own a PC.

Can you help?

I wouldn't mind if all my information were on iCloud AND on my laptop.

I have a new Windows 10 laptop and I have migrated most everything from my previous laptop that I wanted and everything has been working pretty good up to now. I use Outlook 2007 for POP3 email and had installed in on the new LT and moved my PST and all was working good with email, contacts and calendar after much help from here: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/...le-on-new-windows-10-pc.1163278/#post-9186499. Yesterday I decided to move my iTunes from the old LT to the new LT and I installed ITunes and ICloud on the new LT and synced it with my iPhone 6. Thought all was well until this morning when I'm checking my POP3 email account. All my email downloaded no problem and I was able to read everything. When I went to send email I found that iCloud had emptied my Contacts and replaced it with iCloud contacts which essentially is the ones that I had on my phone. (My iPhone contacts are still there.) If I click the "To" field in the email it does bring up my outlook contacts that I had on my computer before the iCloud debacle and it does let me select them. Hello knowledgeable ones:

Until last week I was using outlook 2003, an older versions of itunes, and an ipod, and was able to back up my outlook contacts and calender through itunes and right to the ipod, no problem.

Now, however, I have had to upgrade everything so they can handshake correctly. This has meant going to Outlook 2007, the latest itunes, an iphone 5, and the icloud. My entire goal is to have the contacts in outlook match the contacts in both the cloud and the phone.

In using the icloud control on both of these, I now have the following: a variety of calenders in my outlook with names like calender in icloud, home in icloud, and my calender, all in lovely pastel shades. The phone has one calendar with only the occasionally dupes on a given date.

The phone, however, is a disaster, with as many as three dupes of the same name. Looking at Outlook, I have a slew of contacts, some dupes, many that I though i had deleted from outlook. Also two categories of contacts, icloud and my contacts, with sub-directories in each. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that the contacts tab under my contacts was completely blank following a sync to the cloud, only to then find the other five versions, which, of course, I would like to have agree with each other. The icloud interface on line shows dupe contacts as well.

I understand that one person may not have all the answers to all the parts of this; I am on an iphone forum as well, trying to figure ... Read more

I went to play an mp3, and the standard windows media player setup came up, where you choose recommended or custom. Its been ages since ive ran that first setup, and ive used wmp for ages in between. What causes it to come up again? I had a large amount of updates from windows update recently, was it something to do with that?

A:Windows Media Player started as if it was first setup

That happened to me too - just minutes after applying the latest round of updates. In my case, one of those updates reset all of my media file associations to point to Windows Media Player. I use WMP, but not by default. I ended up re-installing K-Lite codec pack (with Media Player Classic) to let that install redo all of my media file associations.

I glanced at the updates, but I did not see which one was responsible for barfing those associations and resetting WMP to the first run state.

Using Win 98SE, when trying to open Outlook Express, version 6, I receive the error message: "Outlook Express could not be started. Contact Microsoft for assistance 0x8007000E" followed by "Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be installed correctly."

In Microsoft's Knowledge Base, I found a similar Error Message applying to Outlook Express, version 5 (+) but no references to version 6. In attempting to resolve this issue I followed the instructions for version 5 and removed Outlook Express, deleted the Outlook Express information in the Registry Key for Active Setup, and then reinstalled Outlook Express. This did not resolve the problem. I have adequate memory and disk space.

I will greatly appreciate your assistance.

It's only an annoyance, but every time I leave my computer and it hibernates or goes to standby, a dialog box appears upon reactivation that shows an aborted attempt to connect to the internet, even though neither my browser (Firefox) or Outlook 2003 are active. I then need to cancel/close this each time and then either wait or manually re-access a connection. I use local wireless internet access (2.5mb download) and a wireless router in my home.

I use Microsoft automatic downloads which are all current and their Windows Essentials for active background virus/adware/malware scanning. Periodically I run CCleaner and PC Pitstop to clean my computer of old caches, defunct registries, etc. and occasionally run Trend Micro Housecall as a backup check on adware and viruses. I've never had a serious virus or and most times find nothing. My startup includes only 8 items in the Registry section and one (WordWeb) that is in the Startup section on Startup Manager.

What's causing these "ghost" connections? How can I work around it?

A:Outlook tries to connect when not started

Sounds like a malicious type of malware that is hiding from scanners...
this is becoming more common in 2010 than ever.

You may want to post this in the Virus/Malware forum for assistance.

Hi there,

I am completely computer illiterate and this week seem to have attracted a number of problems! Lucky me!

Firstly I managed to catch the av360 virus which I think I have successfully removed (although it still shows in the startup section when you run MSCONFIG but it is unchecked?)

Now it seems my outlook express is playing up. When trying to open it I receive the following message :

Outlook express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk full

I then click ok and this message appears :

Outlook express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook express may not be installed correctly.

I have looked through a few forums on here and have checked that my *.dbx files are all set at not read only, but it still does not open. I have also changed folders.dbx to folders.old and nothing...

I really don't know what to do now and whether something I did when trying to remove the virus has caused this...

Any help will be grateful received (in a form that is easy to understand please...! )

Thanks!!

and I'm about ready to throw my computer at the wall.

I run Windows 7 Professional.

I returned from vacation and was greeted by the usual 500 emails.  I first deleted anything that was spam, then sorted out the ones I needed to respond to.  I took care of some other business, went back into Outlook to send an email and it had locked up.  I tried all the usual steps....shut Outlook down and restarted it, tried the Microsoft Office repair, did a system restore (Microsoft updater had run and installed a bunch of new files the previous night, so I restored to a point before that) then finally decided to uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 and reinstall it.

When I try to open Outlook, it takes quite a while to get it running (at least five minutes), and when it finally opens the email window I am greated by a small popup screen with a Firefox logo asking me to download an html file.  I cancel out of that, and then Outlook completely locks up.

At this point I was relatively certain that I have a virus, so I ran Microsoft Security Essentials, it found nothing, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, which found a bunch of garbage (coupon downloader, etc) that I deleted, CCcleaner (just because I had it on my machine) and still had no luck with Outlook.

I then resorted to trying to download new anti-virus software from the internet, first AVG and then Panda, but both download/installs crashed before they finished.

I seem to have recently developed trouble receiving e-mails when using Outlook XP.

I have double checked all the settings, firewall etc and most of the time emails get through but recently it seems to stop receiving properly.

A recent example being that I usually get loads of emails a day, most of them spam, but then suddenly not many came through at all, also a couple of people tell me they have sent me an email but I never received it.

So, I get onto my Domain host and ISP service both of which send me test emails and both of which get through, however the ISP (Blueyonder) did recently have issues with delayed emails but now claim that's all sorted, this is even though most emails I send to myself to test can take anything up to half an ahour to come through.

I then try opening Outlook Express and about 100 emails come in!! Now I either managed to do that at the exact moment they would have come in anyway or there is something very odd going on.

Any ideas??

Messages tend to hang in my Outlook 2007 outbox more than they used to (I am on high speed cable). But I have also found that having an annula check-up has kept my system running safe, thanks to the team at Bleeping Computer. Your service is much appreciated!

Hello,

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 17R laptop. Inside the program "Dell Support Center" it tells me that BITS - Demand Started to Auto Started. I don't know what BITS is so I need some help. It runs in the System Services. Should I disable the BITS?

Heres a screenshot:

Up til now, I have been happily syncing my iPhone4 and iPad2 with MS Outlook 2007 via my PC x iTunes.

Somehow, I recall choosing an option somewhere to use iCloud "cos it sounded OK" but now when I try to sync the devices on iTunes, it tells me that I cannot do this anymore as it is being done on iCloud and I will have duplicate contacts and all sorts of dire problems.

At the risk of being old fashioned, how do I get rid of iCloud and go back to the procedure first mentioned in Para one ..........?

I feel much happier with it and not having vast numbers of contacts, appontments etc. would prefer to leave iCloud out of it for the moment.

How do I do this thanks?

I wanted to get an opinion or a knowlege of what seetings the laptop needs to be, for iCloud to function properly? Maybe the settings on the other end as well, have to be adjusted to accept a PC system?

At this point, I am having screen resolution & color issues. Seems when I open the iCloud program, the screen switches & the colors & resolution go to a negative & cartoonish appearance.

Putting the feelers out there now.

Thanks,
mix

I have recently setup a new sbs 2003 server. It seems to be working fine except in one area. I cannot get outlook setup. I get the following message when trying to setup outlook using exchange. The action could not be completed. The connection to the microsoft exchange server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. I have run through all the wizards. File sharing is working fine. What I hope to do is allow the clients to fax from their computers to the shared fax on the server. I would like to use the contacts in outlook to manage the fax numbers. The clients don't even need email or all of the other exchange features. I would like for them to have one pop3 email address that is cached to all the computers if possible. Under Server management it says for the exchange server First Organization (exchange). I believe this to be the default setting. I have set this up once before with decent sucess. Can you point me in the right direction?

A:Cannot get Outlook setup

I changed the exchange name from companyname.com to companyname.local and outlook opened right up. Now I need to figure out how I can take all the addresses and share them so that they are the default addresses when I go to fax from any client. I would like to open word on any client machine and click print to fax and get the same address list. Any ideas?
