windows media player and realone player poor audio quality

Q: windows media player and realone player poor audio quality

I have two pcs on a wireless network connected to a cable modem. One pc (Thinkpad) has no problem playing internet radio stations through wmp. The other one (Dell 4100) has problems with streaming audio. It can connect to the radio station fine (or download the audio file in either format) but then it keeps buffering while it's playing. I've tried just about everything I can find to fix it: editing the registry (MSoft tech note,) changing the network settings, changing the buffer rate but nothing seems to work. There is more than enough bandwidth to handle the flow of data, plus my cable company says it's not them (of course.) Any help would be really appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all

My WMP 12 is having a video quality problem with all video files. There is apparently nothing wrong with the audio. I use Windows 7 Enterprise.

When I use any other player, any file plays just fine.
Here are two screenshots, one of WMP and one of VLC playing the same file on my computer:

This has been happening, I guess, since I had installed K-Lite Codec Pack for playing DVD, as I was unable to play them otherwise.

I really appreciate any help regarding this. Thanks!

I have a problem opening any media file in any of the Media Players viz., RealOne Player build or my Windows Media Player 10.
Whenever I open the above mentioned Media Players on my system, their interface opens up and after I open and select any media (usually audio) file, the player keeps on connecting to the file and takes more than 1 minute and above in opening and playing any valid and good media file, may it be a .wma or .mp3 audio file.
How to fasten the dead slow speed of the players?

Is there any possible way to make DVD plays in VLC Media with better video quality like PowerDVD? It'd better be free better not be complicated (I'm not an advanced computer user).

A:Video Quality In Vlc Media Player

Don't see why not. When you put in your DVD go to "My Computer" then click the DVD icon then open with... choose VLC Player. I haven't tested this because when I play DVD's I usually play them with Windows Media Player.

Also, a video quality relies on many things.. Graphics Card, RAM (<-- I think), Codecs (<-- MAIN ONE). So I think if you look around the net for some video codecs they should play your videos better. For me I like K-lite media codec pack, or something around that name I forgot. =P

I have been looking for a High Quality Media Player to watch my AMV's. So far my search has been fruitless, so I have decided once again to ask you guys about the software you prefer. Any players suggested need to be able to read .avi, .wma, .mpeg, .mpg, Xvid and DivX

I currently have WinAmp (plays every file type that I know of but sluggish and jumpy) and WindowsMediaPlayer10 (*cough*sucks*cough*)

*edit* I am also having codec issues. Anyone know a dependible codec package for XP?

A:High Quality Video Media Player

You might try Media Player Classic, Zoomplayer, or BSPlayer. All can be found on Google. Each will play .avi, .wma, .mpeg, .mpg, Xvid and DivX. Each has its own features and all are free. I prefer the Media Player Classic.

As far as codec packages, I would stay away from packaged codecs and download only what is necessary--DivX521XP2K, XviD-1.02-29082004-- although the package ffdshow may have all you will need.

I'm at my wits end.

I put together a capable gaming pc about a month ago with a bunch of new components and some cannibalized older components.

I installed all of the drivers from the motherboard cd. I have a radeon x1300 vid card. I'm running windows xp home ed. I've installed about every codec and plugin under the sun. I've troubleshot my load with regard to Windows itself.

I cannot play Windows Media Audio/Video files for the life of me.

I do get audio, but the video is all hyper-colored like looking at scrambled porn.

It doesn't matter if I download the video or watch it in a browser (any browser). It doesn't matter if I open up the DLed video in real player, Windows Media player or Generic DIVX player #458973: it still comes out all scrambled and in crazy moon-man rainbow colors.

I have no problem playing any other type of windows media player file. Quicktime works fine as well.

Please help.

A:Windows Media Player won't properly play Windows Media Audio/Video files

Well standard Window's media files should play without the need for any additional codecs.

Maybe check the forums of your vid card for some answers.

Usually this is a function of your sound card's control software and not a player's settings. Do you have a sound control icon in the tray?

If you have the standard Windows volume control in the tray, double-click it. Go to Options, Properties, and you will see a place to enable more volume controls for rear, center, subwoofer, etc.

My system runs Windows ME and I downloaded Windows Media Player 9 a while back. I liked it and it was working totally fine, but now I can't see to get it to play any audio. My DIVX player sometimes crashes due to some C++ error, but I'm not worried about that one. I also have an Elecard Movie Player and that works just fine too, but I want my Windows Media Player 9 To be able to playback movies fine and for that I need it to have audio. Win98, AMD1.2MGZ, 128MB RAM, 120GHD

I had to recently reinstall Windows and now I get no audio from Media player 7.1. It's a fresh 7.1 install. It opens and shows video, but no sound. I can play cd's or mp3's from winamp, and I get the windows opening music, so I know my sound card is functioning. If I click on an mp3, winplayer 7.1 opens, shows that the song is playing, but no sound. Also, I don't know if this could affect this or not, but I ran the Maxtor diagnostic and it said my HD was failing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A:Windows media player no audio

It could be possible that when you installed another program (such as
RealPlayer or Winamp) the default associations for sound playback
was changed by one of those programs. For example, Winamp will
try to become the default player for all sound formats unless you
explictly instruct the installer not to do so.

You can check this by opening Windows Media Player, selecting "Tools,"
"Options", and then the "Formats" tab. See if "Windows Media Audio
File", and "Audio File" are checked. If you want the Windows Media
Player to be your default device for audio CDs, check "CD Audio Track"
too. Click on "Apply".

When I play a .wmv file, Windows Media Player opens and the audio starts, but the player screen stays black. I can't get the video to display.

I tried updating from WMP version 10 to version 11, but that didn't fix it. I also installed what I thought were the newest codecs from MS (file name is WM9Codecs.exe). Near the end of the install of the new codecs I got a message that said "Microsoft Media Technology" wasn't compatible with this version (or something like that). But, at the end of the install of the new codecs, I got another message saying the install completed and that I needed to reboot. The pc rebooted fine.

It has been over a month since I played a .wmv file and I don't remember everything that I have changed on the pc since the last time I played one, but here are some changes I do remember:

Installed Jungle Disk (a front end for using Amazon's S3 web based storage. Uses something called WebDav.).

Un-installed Zone Alarm free firewall.

Updated Adobe Reader

Installed and uninstalled trial of IP Traffic Monitor 2.2

Updated my password manager

Updated Firefox

Hi -

Iam having touble burning audio files from my windows media player. it begins to burn and then I get a bubble from my task bar that warns about low disk space. The burning only goes for anywhere from one to five songs worth then stops. When I click on those that didn't burn I get a window that reads, "Windows Media Player cannot burn the files because there is not enough free disk space to store the temporary files. Delete some unneeded files on your hard disk and then try again."

I did this, and when I go to my computer it shows:

Local Disk C: Total Size=31.1GB Free Space=676KB
Local Disk D: Total Size=5.84GB Free Space=3.49GB

After I had removed files the difference showed in Disc C, also
when I go to properties of Disc C it shows no free space so I don't know which is correct.

I have bought an external hard drive and that doesn't seem to have helped.

How do I sove the problem -- where do I need to make space -- and is there a way to do it that I am unaware of?

I need to resove this as quickly as possible as it is affecting my business.

And thank you in advance for any help you can give.

The audio has been working fine on my girlfriend's Windows Vista machine. But now the audio works only when you play a CD in Windows Media Player. If, for example, you go to YouTube.com and click to play a selection, nothing happens. What you see at any any selection is just a black screen, not the image.

then I downloaded and installed WinAmp on her machine. It won't play any audio when you go to Shoutcast.

I tried to play a CD that played fine in Windows Media Player in WinAmp instead. (by changing the default player to WinAmp, from Windows Media Player) I could see the name of the CD in WinAmp, and I could also see the equalizer visual thing moving, so it appears the CD was playing in WinAmp. You just couldn't hear the sound. When I changed the default player back to Windows Media Player, the CD played and you could hear it!

As to what has changed on her machine from when the audio worked everywhere to now when it works only when playing a CD in Windows Media Player: She was subscribed to the Rhapsody music service. Instead of unsubscribing, she uninstalled the program. When her audio wouldn't work she tried to troubleshoot and may have changed settings in the Control Panel under "sound" and "Realtek audio." She may have tried other things.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this? Thanks!

Windows Media Player won't use DFX Audio Enhancer with DVD's. Help me, please.

Here is what the problem is.

I have DFX Audio Enhancer Plus installed and working fine with all other content Windows Media Player plays, however, when I play DVD's, Windows Media Player won't use DFX Audio Enhancer and DFX Audio Enhancer just says "no sound".

I get a pretty crappy audio quality as a result. I also have plugins in place which are meant to enhance my picture quality further and I doubt they work, too.

Windows Media Player version - 11
Operating System - Vista 64 SP 1
DFX Audio Enhancer Plus version - 9

Help me solve this issue, please.
