Q: Windows 10 Supported Models list and what to do if...

We've seen a number of topics and questions from users whose Acer model is not listed in the Windows 10 update support list, which I'll link below.

The list that Acer provided is for products that we are committed to helping support running the Windows 10 operating system. Microsoft has also stated that they have worked very hard to make sure that the upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 is available for as many users as possible and that the Windows 10 operating system will work with as many different hardware components as possible.

If your unit is not on this list, you're still eligible for Microsoft's upgrade to Windows 10; however, Acer cannot guarantee full compatibility with all aspects of the PC. Again, Acer is not preventing users from taking advantage of the upgrade offer with Windows 10; however, if your unit is not listed, it's possible that you may run into trouble with specific components of your PC not working well, or at all, with Windows 10. The Acer Community is a great place for users in the second scenario to be able to work together to find sufficient drivers or applications that will support their needs.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have two older work computers which are currently running windows 7. This is the model information that I could find for each of them:Acer Desktop, Veriton M6 Series, ID: VM680G - EI5650W.Acer Desktop, Veriton M2 Series, M275.I tried upgrading them to Windows 10 when it was first released, but it wouldn't install properly since it wasn't supported at the time and it messed up my computers so badly that I had to wipe them clean and reinstall Windows 7 (even with Microsoft tech-support we were unable to simply revert back to a previous version of Windows).Since then I've been receiving daily alerts to download Windows 10 again. With the free version of the operating system expiring soon, I'm wondering if its been updated so that my computer models are supported now so that I can safely install it. I'm having trouble finding online whether or not these specific Acer models are supported. I'm just looking for some input on whether or not these models are supported yet and if I'm safe to try installing it again. I don't want to go through the same issues as before since these are important work computers and having to wipe them last time was a huge inconvenience.Thanks!

A:Are These Older Veriton Models Supported by Window...

Hello Acer's website does not state your models as being compatible, so it is a 50-50 chance on whether you can update to Windows 10. Microsoft's latest build may well be more compatible that the previous version you tried. In the first instance, image your entire disk of each PC. To do this you need a spare hard drive(s) to back them up to. Use the Built in Windows 7 system image burner. It will also be wise to create a System repair disk, should things go wrong. You could also use a program like Macrium Reflect - again, I'd create a Reflect recovery disk, just in case. Then you can try to download WIndows 10. Right click the white Windows icon in the system tray (by the clock). An option should be "Check your upgrade status" - this should advise if Microsoft thinks your PC is compatible. If it comes back as a Yes, then progress to upgrade. If you have any problems, then re-image your computer with the image previously created. This will restore your PC exactly to they way it was before you started. If all else fails, then use  GWX Control Panel- this will stop your PC trying to upgrade to Windows 10.

Hi all, I am curious as to why my Acer Aspire V5-571 isn't on the supported list for Windows 10 drivers and updates? It is more than capable and the Get Windows 10 icon from Microsoft said it was all compatible. Are there no plans for any drivers from Acer?

A:V5-571 not on Windows 10 supported list?

I'm wondering the same thing.  I have the same model of Acer Aspire, and I was able to upgrade to Windows 10 after reserving it as it said that my computer is compatible.  So why is this model not listed for Windows 10 driver and software updates?  What's going on?

The only one that can answer that question is Dell since they would know how the BIOS was setup. I doubt that it would support much more that the P4 521 2.8GHz. that it was shipped with.

So, I have an Inspiron Small Desktop (3647) currently with the Pentium G3220 CPU.
I'm considering going with an i3, since the power draw is approximately the same, and I could thus re-use the same heatsink.
The specifications document merely states that Celeron, Pentium, and i3/i5/i7 4th generation are supported, but no further detail than that.
My immediate question:  While I've seen the 3647 offered with the i3-4160 and i3-4170, does the system support the i3-43xx CPUs?
How about the various Haswell i3/5/7 CPUs with S, T, and TE at the end of the model number?  I'd possibly be interested in some of those for the purposes of reduced power consumption.
Ideally, is there some definitive list of every processor this computer supports?
Thanks!

A:Inspiron 3647 - is there a comprehensive list of CPUs supported?

Looks like it shipped with the i3-4170 but nothing beyond that.  No, there isn't an upgrade list -- Dell doesn't support CPU upgrades on systems once they're built.

To secure our laptops we also use Microsoft Bitlocker which makes them even slower.  Has anyone come across issues?

A:Both Latitude E5540 & E6530 laptop models slow after installing Windows 10.

Are they equipped with 8G of RAM?  If not, they're going to be swapping a lot to disc - which will be slow if they're running conventional hard drives rather than SSDs.

I am new to Gen2 Hyper-V and so far I simply can't use it, because I am unable to install any (supported) guest OS from an ISO ...

So far I tried that on:
1. my HP Z230/i4770 workstation (Secure Boot disabled) host running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (with Hyper-V feature enabled), can't boot any VM with supported OS ISO.

2. my home desktop/i3770K (secure Boot enabled) host running Windows 8.1 Pro x64, same result, error during VM boot from ISO, quoted below.

Synthetic SCSI controller (instance blah blah) Failed to Power on with Error 'The version does not support this version of file format'

Gen1 guests of course work perfectly fine with those ISOs, because emulated DVD IDE picks up the official Enterprise Evaluation ISO of either Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise, perfectly fine and all works OK in Legacy boot mode.
When I create a new guest and select Gen2, then no matter if I check or uncheck the Secure Boot in virtual Boot Order options for the guest (while setting the SCSI DVD at top of course), it simply doesn't work, always same error. I tried first connecting
to VM to see if it prompts for key press, but it doesn't, the error is instant on Power on when (supported) ISO image is selected to be booted.

I verified that both of official Enterprise Evaluation ISO's of either WS2012r2 and W8.1x64 are bootable in both the UEFI mode (Secure Boot enabled) and Legacy BIOS mode using a physical computer.

What am I missing here???

A:hyper-v cannot boot Gen2 guest from Windows 2012 R2 or Windows 8.1 x64 ISO - file format not supported, Gen1 works fine

In the TechNet article
here I see reference to a schema v.2 for the EMIE tool. It will apparently spit out the xml using the new version 2 of the schema. But the download link only goes to downloads for Win7/8 (schema v.1), and I cannot find any reference to where I can obtain
the Windows 10 version.
For example,
this article specifically references a Windows 10 version, where
this one references Windows 7 and 8.  Finding the Windows 10 version has proven impossible so far.
We have several sites which need to be opened in IE instead of Edge, and using our old Enterprise Mode site list is not working on our Windows 10 clients.
Current site list example:
<rules version="4">
    <emie>
          <domain exclude="false">www.contoso.com</domain>
    </emie>
</rules>

Etc.
Reading about the
v.2 schema leads me to think that the output from the tool is incorrect.  The documentation suggests that the output for Windows 10 should be:

<site-list version="205">
  <site url="www.contoso.com">
    <compat-mode>IE8Enterprise</compat-mode>
    <open-in>IE11</open-in>
  </site>
</site-list>

Or am I missing something here?

The "real" Windows 8.1 RTM has not been released yet -- despite a lot of activity on the net referring to the "WZT" versions that are floating around. I read only yesterday, that the build 9600 RTM versions floating around are actual "pre-release" and are missing elements that will be in the "real" Windows 8 RTM images released in October.

So, unless you got your RTM image directly from Microsoft, I would not trust it at this time.

Hello

I decided to install Windows 7 64 bit on my system as a clean install , I originally had Windows Vista 32 bit which worked and installed fine had no issues , however I wanted a 64 bit version of Windows so it would utilize my RAM to the fullest extend. However , after Windows was finished installing and all the boxes were ticked it restarted as normal to complete the installation however after the "Windows is starting screen" it gives me a BSOD for about a fraction of a second and then the system goes into a restart loop giving the same BSOD for the same amount of time "MULTI_PROCESSING_CONFIGURATION_NOT_SUPPORTED"

Now Before I posted this I have Googled and Googled this issue over and over again looking at all the different ways or issues that could cause this i.e removing ram sticks , APIC mode, checking if your system can run Windows 7 32 bit which it can , can my system/processor run 64 bit ? Yes , I will provide pictures and specs below.

Also I hear people saying it may be the "stepping" on the CPU . I am unsure of this however I will post specs and hopefully someone can point this out to me ?

I have also tried Vista 64 bit however after booting to start the setup I just get BSOD with the same error , it doesn't even start loading Windows files .

Like I said guys I have looked out there and I want to try fix this issue "in house" and not go to a repair shop . Most if not everywhere I have looked online state th... Read more

Reset the BIOS to defaults, then reinstall the OS following these same steps to do a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which compile everything that works best for Win7 installs based on tens of thousands we have directly helped with here.

Do not make any system settings changes other than those suggested.

Follow only the steps for drivers given in tutorial. This is not XP, drivers should not be forced on a driver-complete OS.

I realise that the Canon N670U scanner is not supported by Canon, but according to the Canon Website, the LiDe 20 scanner is. Up until now, both scanners used the same driver, so it seems strange that one is supported and the other is not. However, though Canon says new drivers will be on the website for the release of Windows 7, none has appeared yet. Can anyone explain this. As an aside, I can get the scanner to work using Vuescan, but the cost of buying this utility and being tied to the supplier, compared with simply buying a new scanner is not worth it. It does prove, though that a N670U can work in a Windows 7 64 bit environment.

A:Supported Canon scanners in Windows 7 64 bit

You can use the same driver as the LiDe 20 or several others that work in Win7 but you can't run the setup program to install it. You will have to both manually extract the driver from the Canon supplied .exe and choose the driver to be installed manually. Use 7Zip to get inside the .exe and then again inside one of the other folders. Put that driver directory aside. Then take your unidentified device and go through the process of manually choosing a driver for which you have the discs and for which Windows doesn't agree you are using the right driver. It will work fine.
I tried that a few weeks ago after reading another forum, and even though I installed the driver, and could see the device as supposedly working in control panel, it still did not work. I have now bought a new Lide 100 off Ebay for £22. No point wasting time messing with drivers when a new working replacement is so cheap.

RIP Windows Phone 8.1 (June 24, 2014 - July 11, 2017)
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4001737/products-reaching-end-of-support-for-2017
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/search?alpha=Windows Phone 8.1

Microsoft is killing off Windows Phone 8.1 support today, more than three years after the company first introduced the update. The end of support marks an end to the Windows Phone era, and the millions of devices still running the operating system. While most have accepted that the death of Windows Phone occurred more than a year ago, AdDuplex estimates that nearly 80 percent of all Windows-powered phones are still running Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 8, or Windows Phone 8.1. All of these handsets are now officially unsupported, and only 20 percent of all Windows phones are running the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS. ~SourceClick to expand...

I have a Dell inspiron 1520, it shipped w vista 32. I upgraded to windows 7 64 bit (did a clean install with OTS of help from here in July). Dell didn?t support my laptop with Windows 7 64 bit drivers?
I did searching and found a group of 64 bit drivers from dell laptops that were supported and shared the same hardware (I think..). Most of it went fine, however now I?m starting to have some problems or need hardware that originally had problems I kinda brushed off for the time.

1...My Laptop WILL NOT SLEEP! It powers down/hibernates instead.
I believe it to be either
a) Nvidia Display Driver problem
b) Wireless Mouse usb receiver
Windows Action Center says ?Drivers are causing windows to standby or hibernate slowly:
1. Nvidia kernel mode driver
2. Live! Cam Auto Console Monitor OEM02Mon.exe

I?ve attached some of the event logs, maybe someone can interpret them for me??

2?One of my USB Devices are suddenly ?unknown?, tried updating, ect no help.
I did test each USB port and they all still seem to be functioning correctly..? It worked correctly for few weeks after I installed windows 7, then suddenly became unknown..

3?My webcam console software says no supported device please plug in to continue? I'd installed the drivers for it and believed it would help..

Wish I knew more about this? Are there specific windows logs or reports I could find more info, that I could post to help in assisting me?
I know a lot of this stuff... Read more

Hello,
I want to install Windows 10 on my netbook NB305-106 but I can't because the NX is not supported. How I can make NX supported ?

A:NX not supported on NB305-106 - Cannot install Windows 10

NX-Bit means “No eXecute” Bit and this is a CPU feature. This is the important requirement in order to be able to install the Windows 10 system and as far as I know if the CPU does not support the NX bit, the Win 10 installation would not be possible.

Hi all, I've got a Q9400 here and I just tried installing Win8.1, but I'm getting this error:

"You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support CompareExchange128."

I can't change the CPU so what can I do? I don't understand why my CPU isn't supported and this sucks because I bought Win8Pro recently...
