Q: Yoga 2 Pro - wifi - Dlink 890l needs restart for c...

I have a Dlink 890L router and it works perfectly with my Yoga 3 Pro and every other wifi device - except my Yoga 2 Pro. The Yoga Pro 2 will connect and work fine, but when I close the laptop or power down and then open or power up again, the the Yoga 2 Pro will not connect. If I restart (power off) the Dlink, then the Yoga 2 Pro will connect again without any problem. As soon as the Yoga 2 Pro is closed, powered down or goes to sleep, and opened again it will not connect. I have updated every thinkable driver on the Yoga 2 Pro, so what to do ....

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I like to keep my C930 in sleep mode. But sometimes after wake up, the laptop cannot connect to wifi (it cannot find surrounding wifi, and I cannot turn the wifi off). I will need to restart the computer to make the wifi work again. But when I restart the laptop in this condition, It cannot restart normally, it keeps restarting several times and until entering into repairing mode. I need to turn off the computer and open it again. It happens several times. It is hardware or system problem? And once I waked the laptop and screen didn't work. But it never happens again. Do I need to reinstall the computer or send it to repair?I just bought it for a month.

I have a PC connected to a Dlink 614+ wireless router on one end of the house. A PC in the middle of the house with a syntax USB adaptor. A PC at the other end with a Dlink 520+ adaptor. I also have dlink 800AP+ (repeater access point) that I'd like to add to the mix.

I was trying to replace the syntax adaptor with the 800AP set as a access point, but I can't seem to connect between the access point and the wireless router. Any pointers, or do I just need to forget about it and set the 800AP+ as a repeater only.

Hi All,

I have Dlink Router DIR-890L. I have set up the security with WPA/WPA2-Personal and saved the changes but the connection stays open and unsecured. All my neighbors are able to connect because it doesn't prompt them for a password. I have upgraded the router to the latest firmware and still the same problem.
Lately I've been using the MAC filter to keep people off my connection but this is impractical when I have guests over. Also disabling broadcasting doesn't allow my phone to reconnect automatically.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance!

I recently bought dlink D2750U WIFI ADSL modem/router, for my ADSL internet connection.

But I have now changed my ISP, who provide internet via cable(not telephone line). The ISP guy provides a cable modem(old modem) along with it.

I have connected my PC this way:
Cable modem -> Router -> PC through RJ45. I am able to access internet from my PC, but I am not able to get wifi working on the router. And I am logging onto internet through a dial up connection.
1) Please help in configuring the router to get wifi working.
2) Also, my default gateway seems to be either or blank. So, I am not able to login to the modem unless I remove the modem connection. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.

Here are a few more details:

A:Using dlink D2750U Wifi Modem/Router As a Wifi Router

Hey Narain. The D-Link unit you have appears to be a combo unit (modem and wireless router) since it connects straight to the RJ-11 phone line. This unit won't work with an ISP that provides service by way of coax cable. The D-Link will work if you want to use DSL, but you need a cable service compatible modem or combo modem/router if you use cable service.

I used to have AT&T Uverse internet service. When using their service they gave me a D-Link DWA-140 range booster. I recently got a Nighthawk AC1900 smart wifi router model R7000 and now am using Charter internet. I have been using the D-Link range booster and was curious if it was compatible with my Nighthawk AC1900 router as far as capable speeds so I asked the question in a yahoo answers forum and I received the following response. "You CAN use the device BUT it is a Draft 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter thus it can not and will not deliver 802.11AC speeds that your AC1900 uses! The 1900 will simply revert to "N" speeds and those are much slower than 1900mbs!" If that is the case then obviously I don't want to use it if it will slow speeds down. When I unplug the D-Link range booster and restart my computer I can't locate any options for WiFi on my windows computer running windows 7 premium. Do I have to reset my Netgear Nighthawk router in order to see wifi options again? Thanks in advance for any assistance anybody can offer me.

Yesterday I tried to do the updates on the lenovo system update software. It went bad, the laptop (t470) tried to restart but couldn't. It did not completely shut down (as I was hearing fan), I couldn't shut down the computer by pressing the power button (just didn't work). I left it like that for a full 12 hours in hope it would pick up again, which it didn't. After a talk with lenovo support, I took off the battery and left the computer plugged in. I was then able to restart the computer.  Since then, I have noticed some very strange behavior from the computer. Most of the time, especially if the ocmputer is unplugged, i can't restart the computer (it hangs on the lenovo screen), I then need to press the power button to close it, and then power it back on. This happens especially when the computer is unplugged.  Also, as soon as I unplug the computer, WiFi stops working, it gives me this error "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection". Should I reformat the computer? Should I reset the BIOS?  I have no idea what to do. PS: the warranty is still good.

Every time I restart or shutdown my laptop, running Win 8.1 pro, the wifi is disabled (missing from Device Manager) and the light on the keyboard that indicates wifi on/off turns orange = off. When I boot from a shutdown I am able to press the button to turn it on light shows white. However, when I press the button after a restart, the wifi will not turn on no matter what I do. In order to get it working again, I have to shutdown, boot up and again press the wifi button.

I can't for the life of me figure out why restarting completely disables the wifi so that it is not even recognized in Device Manager but shutting down and booting up, I can get it to turn on. I have the latest driver installed, and have had this issue since upgrading the laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I also tried replacing the wifi card with the same model wifi adapter, and that did not solve the issue either. Any thoughts? Thanks

This Chromebook is quite possibly the most frustrating thing I've ever bought. Throwing aside the fact that the trackpad stopped working after a few days (which I assume is tied to a disconnection within the case), the internet continuously disconnects and, more frustratingly, won't reconnect without a restart. I notice it when I try to save a project or load a website. The bottom icon will show that wifi is not connected. I click the icon and reselect the network. The wifi icon will then change to show as connected but nothing will load. Interestingly, if I try to load a page (such as CNN.com), the status in the lower right-hand corner of the window suggests (to me) that it's loading some data (e.g. it will tell me it's loading... I don't know... cookies? I don't know anything about this stuff but it will show something along the lines of "loading cdn.[text].com/"). Anyway, it will eventually pause on the of the updates regardless of the website. When I open my network settings, it still shows as connected. It's only when I enter settings that it shows it's not connected and only after this point does my wifi icon go blank/zero bars (as opposed to showing an 'x'). No matter what I do, I cannot get connectivity without restarting and losing my work. Chromebook 14 (CB3-431)1-2 Months OldProblem exists on home and public networks.

I am having an annoying problem with my laptop. It is Lenovo Y580 and every time I restart my computer, ethernet and wifi adapter both stop working. In device manager there's a code 10 reported. To get it working again I have to uninstall both and scan for hardware changes so that it installs it again. What could be the issue?

Sounds like you may have an issue with their drivers. I'd go straight to the manufacturers of the network devices and get their latest drivers.

We tried turn it ON from the function key, from MS setting, etc. and frequently it takes a second re-boot to get it turned ON.

She uses a Nord VPN but it still happens with that off.

Strange that the MS setting will show that we turned WiFi on but icon on the bottom still shows it OFF.

After using this computer for the past few months, I've recently ran into some strange problems I haven't encountered before.

The first one is the way that the wifi stops responding. It doesn't update in the notification area when it happens, to limited connectivity or any sort of warning like that. I can only tell when background downloads I have going are interrupted, but it seems really inconsistent why and when it happens. I've been unable to pinpoint and reduce the number of potential causes, not for a lack of trying. I disconnect from the network, and am unable to reconnect without first disabling and re-enabling the wifi adapter. This, however, presents the problem of the wifi adapter not re-enabling, and before that, the Network Sharing Center window in which I do it, will not update to the disabled state without a window refresh.

This leads to the other issue, is that when and only when this wifi issue happens, on restart, it hangs while showing the dark gray screen that says "Restarting..." with the spinning circle. The spinning of the circle happens continually, but will not advance further, even being left for close to an hour.

Every other wireless device (mobile phone, laptop, game consoles, etc) continue to function, so the network itself doesn't seem to be having an issue.

A thought I had, though I don't know how much water it may hold, is that something could be acting funny with a power saving/hibernate function, as I said, I've just been downlo... Read more

I bought a Referbished G6 at a PX in Okinawa for what was a pretty good deal. I started to have issues right away. I worked through most of them - that is I never was able to fix them but I learned to work around them. Recently, I decided to do an entire system reset (and yes, I had tried that before, too when originally trying to fix the problem). That way, I could just start fresh and get it where I want it. Problem: When I restart my laptop the Wifi does not work. I get the Wifi Icon symbol with the red circle/x through it. I found (by lots of aggravating trial and error) that you have to do a shut down and turn it back on normally for it to work. When you do that, it works just fine. I don't have the name of the Wifi device or driver number, but I will post it tonight. I can tell you that updating the driver only makes it never work at all. One last thing - this problem exists with Win8, 8.1, and 10. There you have it. Standing by if you need further information. Thank you,Todd O

So I have had this HP Spectre for about a year now and it does not connect to my home internet unless I restart the modem. I restart the modem and it will work for a while. If i ever turn my laptop off or sometimes even close the laptop the internet will not connect and I will have to go unplug and replug the modem. This is extremely frustrating especially because of how expensive this thing was. Samsung Galaxy, siblings mac's, siblings iphones, even my Xbox One all connect to the internet but it is only this computer that always has a problem. I moved away for a couple months and at the house I was staying at my laptop connected to the internet with no such problems. I'm kind of assuming it's some kind of problem with this laptops adapter and my internet but that  makes no sense because my internet is fine with all of my other devices.  I have the latest LAN driver installed as well. This is a rather annoying problem and any insight would be much appreciated.

I bought a Pavilion 2 years ago on black Friday. It has been an alright computer. About a month or so ago, my wifi adapter has started going out randomly, on it's own. When I open "network connections" after this happens, it shows my wifi adapter as being disabled - when I click on enable, it says it is enabling, loads, then it is still disabled. The only way I can get my wifi back on when this happens is to restart my computer. This is extremely frustrating to do, when you're having to restart your computer 3-4 times PER HOUR. I have made sure the option to switch off wifi when power is low is turned off (not that it matters, it does it while plugged in too). A few times, the wifi adapter has completely disappeared, as if it has been uninstalled, and to get it back after that happens I have to run a system restore to an earlier point. Again, very frustrating. My adapter is a Realtek rtl8188ee 802.11 b/g/n. Help???

I've tried updating the wireless adapter drivers and turning off WiFi Sense but no dice.

I share Wifi with my neighbor who goes through comcast - and we split the bill. It was working great when they lived downstairs from us. Then it seemed around the time that they moved next to us I started having problems. I would get message that the internet explorer could not connect, and when I would use the diagnose problem option it wouldn't find a problem. Also when I went to control panel and network and tried to repair the connection it wouldn't let me click on it. And so I have to restart the computer to get my internet to work again, and usually it says the connections tray will not end so I have to select end now. It seems like the internet stops working quicker when I am looking at pictures or videos, and google earth will only work once before the internet disconnects. I have fun malware and antivirus software, and tried different places in the apartment, but sometimes even when it says my connection is very good it will not connect to the internet. It is very strange. If you have any advice or if I can supply you with more needed information I would really appreciate it, thanks!

For some odd reason, after restarting my laptop my wireless card (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) has suddenly stopped working (ThinkPad SL410 with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit). How do I fix the following problem?

While using my computer, I have no idea what triggers it but every so often, the WiFi will seem to randomly disconnect. If I try to reconnect, it says it fails to connect. However, if I restart the computer, the WiFi will automatically reconnect. The problem is when it disconnects every 10 minutes while I'm trying to do something, and I keep having to constantly restart my laptop just to stay connected to the internet. When this happens, the laptop is plugged in, and the option for disabling a network adapter to save power is disabled, so that shouldn't be the issue either.

This doesn't seem to be a problem with my Network or with my service provider, because it doesn't occur on any other internet enabled devices. My Xbox One and iPhone SE are both connected to the exact same WiFi and never experience this problem.

Why would restarting allow me to reconnect to it when I can't connect normally within the network options?
Why does it seem to disconnect in such random intervals of time?
How can I make it so my WiFi no longer disconnects on its own, constantly requiring computer restarts?

I've dealt with this problem for months and have no idea what causes it or how to fix it. I even had to restart my computer in the middle of typing this post just to get back my internet connection. Please help! I don't know if it's a problem with my laptop, with the OS, or what. I do know that the problem has pe... Read more

But in order to have the radios work again I can't just turn the switch back on. It never works. I have to restart Windows and then it works. Is there anything I can do to not restart Windows? Thanks

Hi. Does anyone know how to clear or restart this adapter when it suddenly goes grayed or stuck? I saw a thread before clearing/restarting this adapter using a command line (CMD) but couldn't trace it.

Please assist.

Hey all,

Hope I can get some help with a problem that has been bugging me since I installed W10.

This problem appears to be random and happens a couple of time a month. It is really annoying. What happens is, the WiFi appears to stop working. It can't find any available networks and won't reconnect no matter what I do. I have even tried closing/restarting explorer but that does nothing. If I try to shut-down or restart my computer, it just hangs on the shut-down/restart screen. I have to hold down the power button to get my computer to shut-down. The weird thing is, after a restart, it works fine ...for a few weeks. It just seems very strange.

I use a WiFi dongle. I have a couple of them so I tried each one - they all eventually give me the same result . I have a HP if that helps. I notice that my father in law's rig also does this occasionally. He also has a HP, albeit a different model.

I'm having the same issues. I don't use a wifi dongle though. My computer is toshiba satellite P75. The problem has happened a couple of times since upgrading to Windows 10 a month ago.

Hi guys I got this problem, it only comes up occasionally, like once every couple of weeks, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I have a Toshiba laptop and I connect to the internet using wifi. Sometimes the wifi would stop working. It shows that I'm still connected to my wifi, but with an exclamation mark that says limited or no internet. I disconnect and then try again, but now my computer doesn't detect any wifi network. I usually can see a bunch of wifi networks, but when it happens I cannot detect any. I have a couple external hard drives connected to my laptop too. When this wifi problem occurs, I also couldn't access the external hard drives. I disconnect them, but they still show up in My Computer and I can click on them, even though they're empty inside. My last problem is that when this wifi problem happens, I can't restart the computer. It just hangs, so I either have to hold the power button down to restart, or to wait for five or so minutes before windows tells me it's having trouble and then it restarts.

My network drivers have all been updated. I do have a VPN service minimized but it's off almost always and it was never running when this wifi problem occurs. I also have Norton Antivirus on. I don't know what could be causing it, because I'm not just getting the wifi problem only, and this problem has occurred about five times since upgrading to Windows 10 this past winter. So it's not too often, but I don't know what could be causing it. Thank you,

I don't know if my adapter is bad, or if it's a Windows 10 update causing this, but the internet just disconnects after a few seconds, I then troubleshoot it, it resets and is good for like 30 seconds before it just disconnects again. This is a NEW install of Windows 10 ruling out software problems. All other devices on my network work fine ruling out router problems.I have installed latest Realtek driver.I have tried to change the settings for the adapter such as power ect. This was working fine on Windows 10 for the last year or longer.Should I try going back to Windows 8.1? Anyone have a link to buy a replacement Wifi module?

After updating brand new Yoga 910 with WIndows updates, AND firmware Windows asks to restart this one every time. Even it installed several other times the same update, it keeps on telling me it has to restart to finish. Then once it restarts, says during the boot below the Lenovo image - system updating, but it never updates it. And then again in Windows asks for restart, ,... just a vicious loop! How can I remove this firmware update for good?

I was coding on Excel VBA, I ran a Range("cell").End(xlDown) line on 1 row (mistake) and it hang my laptop for 30 seconds. After that I closed the excel file and my laptop started acting weird. My battery was low with 20% battery at that time, so I plugged my USB C charger BUT it didn't charge (first time happening). Then I decided to restart the laptop, but it became stuck on the "Restarting" orange screen for around 1 hour. I hold on to the power button for 3minute and it doesn't do anything. Now, the screen is turned off, then 15min laters, the keyboard backlights turned off, now only F1 mute button is lit up. I suspect my laptop's process is still running... and my power button still doesn't work to turn on/off the laptop. What should I do?
