Preferred Solution: DISKPART, how do I recover a deleted partition?, PLEASE HELP!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Sam, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I hope you have a backup of that deleted partition somewhere. Since you cleaned the disk, created new partitions, and formatted, the chances of recovering that deleted partition are very slim.

You might see if an option in the tutorial below may be able to recover it for you, but it doesn't sound promising.

Hi,

I've used diskpart clean all command on my 640GB hdd by mistake. But I aborted (Ctrl+C) it after about 15 minutes of beginning.

There was 4 partitions on it:
1. Windows partition (about 90GB).
2. Unallocated space (about 25GB).
3. Another partition (about 50GB).
4. Data partition (The rest of it and this is what I want to recover).

I have done MiniTool Partition wizard fast and complete scan and the result was two 3MB partitions.
I have run Acronis recovery fast and complete scan, fast scan has no result and complete scan has run for over 20 hours without finishing.
Then, I run TestDisk quick scan with no results. After that, TestDisk Deeper scan with the attached results. I tried to list the files in that partition but it told me that "Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged." as the second attachment.

What should I do next? please help.

Hi all,

I got myself into a bit of a muck here. While trying to create a bootable USB, I accidentally selected the wrong USB disk (my back up USB disk that contained the manual I was using), & ended up clearing it out. The exact commands I ran are as below:-

Diskpart

Select disk 1 (my bad here, selected the wrong 1)

Clean

Create partition primary

Select partition 1

Active

Format quick fs=ntfs

Assign

Exit

Upon realizing my blunder I've not written any files on the affected disk. Its a WD 1TB, & I've been using it as is for files since day one, I definitely don't recall reformating or partitioning it. All data was contained in the single large partition that the drive came as. Where I am right now, bandwidth is quite limited & unstable, & I'm having a hard time downloading the recovery programs. Any advice on specific programs or utilities that would work best for my scenario? At the moment I'd like to recover the partition, but would be glad id I get back most of my files, that itself would be great!

Thanks in advance for any help.

So now the partition is an unpartitioned 80g, and I installed a fresh copy of xp on the RIGHT hard drive i meant to install it on in the first place! Can anyone help me? That hard drive is very important to me, and I know there has to be a way to get it back. For right now I am leaving the unpartitioned drive alone until I get some feedback. Hi Guys,

I have two HDs, 80 Gig primary and 120 gig secondary. I had win xp installed and running off the 80 gig and I backed up all my files onto the 120 gig. I then decided to format the 80 gig drive

I used a win 98 boot disk and formatted the 80 gig hd. then I started the win xp cd and it asked which partition I would like to choose. I chose the partitioned 120 gig drive not realizing what I had done. I confirmed the partition removal and then realized what I did. So I start flipping out and I restart my comp

I looked for my files and 120 gig drive but it was gone. I'm really going crazy. So I researched a little and I have two utilities on disk (mbrwork and testdisk) I started to run mbrwork and it has been searching for recoverable partitions for the past 2 hours. I don't know what to do and I really need the files on the 120 gig HD. I didn't install windows and I haven't done anything other than run the utility. Can someone please help me. I don't know what I'll do if I can't get my files back.

Thanks

A:recover deleted partition please HELP!

Rob, There are utilities that can rebuild a File Allocation Table. I have never used one but I understand that they work by installing the hosed drive as a slave to another bootable drive and running the software from the boot drive to fix the slave.

I can't tell you any names but a Google search should get you plenty of hits.

Good luck. There is hope.

>>I checked with one of my favorite software producers, Acronis, and found this. If it works like the other software I use from them, it'll be all you need.

Hi-

I accidentally started to install a new version of XP Home on an existing partition that had a good working XP home on it. I got to the point on the install where it highlighted the good partition and I hit "L" to erase it. At that point I stopped and tried a repair from the XP Home disk but no luck. Since it didn't overwrite it (probably just erased some pointers) is there any way to get back the good partition/OS that was on this disk?

Thanks

I just made a terrible mistake!

I've recently set up a desktop PC after 2 years without one.

Anyway, I've been backing up all my old 3.5 Inch HD's to newer and larger drives.

I just got finished moving a heap of files to a new drive, and when done, accidentally deleted the partition of the new drive and was just about to format it thinking it was the old empty drive when I realised what I had done...

So my question is, is it possible to recover a deleted partition? I'm guessing all the information is still on the drive as I haven't actually formatted it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

A:How can I recover an accidentally deleted HD partition?

Yes.

Undelete it.

Partition recovery function on any number of partition tools will do that.

Partition wizard free is popular.

Best done from a boot disc here: Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

I have two hard disk in my computer, Disk0 (500gb) and Disk1 (150gb). Problem is with disk1. 1st it was being used for Windows 7 (EFI, one main primary partition and Windows hidden system partitions) then I formatted it as FAT32 and used for backup and data.

During Windows 8.1 installation, when I was erasing partition on Disk0, accidentally / mistakenly deleted all small partitions on Disk1, didn't touch the bigger main partition of 149gb where the data is stored, now the situation is that in Windows Storage Management it's showing that partition as healthy partition but not as FAT32 but as 'Other' and I can not assign drive latter to it as all options are grayed out.

Tried some data recovery tools, can recover data using some of them but it's messed up, no folder hierarchy, no proper file names, very difficult to sort out, would you please suggest any better option, any way to recover partition to working state, or any data recovery with proper folders hierarchy?

A:Recover deleted partition table

If a partition is deleted but not formatted then it can be recovered using Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help.

Try also using PW to assign a drive letter to the data partition. How to Change Letter with partition manager - Partition Wizard Video Help.

If that fails try using Diskpart to assign a drive letter from booted Win7 installer System Recovery Options Command Line: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...=ws.10%29.aspx

A failed partition which cannot be assigned a letter using steps above can sometimes have its table restored using DiskGenius trial.

Once you can assign a letter I'd back up your data which should have already been backed up if it has any value to it, then run Disk Check or Partition Wizard Check File System

Hi everyone,
I was trying to format my laptop and install a new version of Windows 8. I deleted my old Windows 8 partition and tried to install the new version, but I got an error about some GPT stuff.
I've looked for what it is and I found out that I could have just reinstalled Windows 8 using the Update and Recovery of Windows.
The problem is that I don't have the Windows 8 partition anymore. Is there a way to recover it now? Or do I have to install a new version of Windows 8?
In case, could you tell me how to go around the GPT problem?

My Laptop is a Lenovo Z580 and I haven't done anything after deleting the Windows 8 partition.

Thank you!

Boot from the Windows installation media in UEFI Boot Mode, so you can use GPT (GUID Partition Table).

Quote from this post: UEFI Boot Mode (installing using the GPT partition style) and Legacy BIOS Boot Mode (installing using the MBR partition style). -> link

   Tip
Error message when you boot from the Windows installation media in Legacy BIOS Boot Mode:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. (see screenshot below)

That is because Windows can only be installed to MBR disk in Legacy BIOS Boot Mode, but you plan to install Windows on a GPT disk.

- Boot from the Windows installation media in UEFI Boot Mode, so you can use GPT (GUID Partition Table).
- But if you want to use MBR (Master Boot Record) partition table, then delete all partitions on the disk.

Ok so I apologize in advance if this story is a bit long, and horrifying (actually it's probably entertaining xD). I purchased the Lenovo y510p gaming laptop on back on July 14th 2014. I got the laptop, and it just didn't work for me. It didn't play the games I wanted it to, it had overheating issues, the keyboard had a really sharp edge making typing uncomfortable as well. After installing Sony Vegas and Avast, and just shifting some of my personal photos/music over, I made a backup of the laptop using the OneKey Recovery software. This backup was made to one of my 500GB external hard drives. So I then decided that I just didn't like the laptop, and it was time to return it. I called Newegg, and got my RMA all ready to go. Because I had lot of my personal files and programs, I decided the fastest way to delete everything would be to use the OneKey Recovery by Lenovo, and do a factory reset. At the time, I didn't think anything of this then simply putting the laptop back to exactly how I got it. I even booted it up after the factory reset, and it looked just like the first day I got it. Fast forward 2 weeks, and my RMA is denied from Newegg:   Your RMA (RMA Number: 60470880) return was received and sent to our Inspections Department for closer examination. 34-313-740 NB LENOVO IDEAPAD Y510P 59406636 RTSystem has been modified/altered original manufacturers operating system has been removed cannot access restore partition, this voids Newegg w... A:How to recover deleted "Recovery Partition"

If you only used One Key Recovery by Lenovo, it should not delete the partition. (I hope you did not format the whole system) Once you receive the laptop, you can check if this partition still exists in Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Disk Management. It should show some drives, other than the C: , D: and the SSD (if you have). Those drives are the recovery partitions. I can post a sample screenshot in the evening. Sadly, I do not know any way to recover that partition. As I have seen on this forum several people who lost that partition could not roll back their laptop to original settings without a recovery drive (which is different from a recovery backup).

While trying to reinstall Windows 8 on a home PC we pulled the wrong hard drive and did a clean install on a drive that was being used to store a ton of files (videos, images, documents, etc) rather then a smaller drive that should have had the OS installed on it.

The original partition (on the storage drive) was deleted and then had 8 clean installed on it.

Is there any way to recover that deleted partition to get the files back?

Right now we're running a SuperScan with [email protected] Partition Recovery on the drive in question and it looks like it's going to take about 5 hours to complete. What's worrying us at the moment is the software is showing the deleted partition, and has folders from it in it, but there are no files. For example no videos or images yet.

I'm wondering if that just means the scan needs to complete or what. I don't know if anyone here has used [email protected] or has a better recommendation for partition recovery (if it's possible at this point) but the partition we're hoping to recover is listed as "Good".

Thanks in advance for any and all advice, if you need any more information, just let me know.

If you didn't create a new partition and installed files or a new OS over the space that was once the old partition, then there is a good chance you can recover.
Use the Free TestDisk program. I have had the best luck with GetDataBack. You will need another partition or drive of the same size or larger to restore your files to.

I deleted a partion using the windows 7 installer disk. Unfortunately I was a bit click happy and deleted my secondary drive (one partition if you call it that, as it took up the whole disk). This is my data drive. I keep everything there including a lot of very large, multimedia files that I cannot live without. After picking my heart back up out of my shoe I started asking for help and downloading as many free tools as I can. None of them have worked satisfactorily. Find and Mount looked extremely promising, saying it would find a mark on the HDD where a partition had been made previously and then allowing me to mount a read only version, then copying all the files as though the partition had never been damaged, if I wanted. Funnily enough not only did it fail to find a visable or lost partition on this drive, it even failed to find working partitions on any other drive. Pfft.I've tried Paragon Partition Manager. It told me my drive had errors and to run chkdsk. I did this but it didn't help. The programme had the same errors when I tested it on another drive. Another pfft.I tried EASEUS Partition Manager. It found the files... but it copied all 253 gb of them as 'raw' files or something like that. This means they were completely out of order, no folders and renamed 'file001.jpg' etc. This is useless for me as a lot of my files are .RARs that need to be in a sequence to option or similar issues and also with over 25000 files I cannot be arsed o... Hi Guys

I'm running XP and Lubuntu on an old pc. I recently erased my Local Disk D, which had most of my personal data on it. Local Disk C is still there and contains the XP OS.

I'm not so bothered about losing the data that was in D (the really important stuff was backed up) but Disk D took up nearly 40GB of space which I am now unable to access or utilise.

The full story is long so rather than recite it here if anyone is able to try to help it would be better if I just supply information as and when you require it.

I should say that I'm very much an IT beginner; until this all started I hadn't even heard of partitions, and sadly I'm still struggling with them.

Hello,
Could you please help me to solve the problem i faced recently. Let me explain you what happened in detail.
Initially I had 2TB Seagate Expansion Desk HDD, partitioned into 500GB, 13GB, 293GB, all three Bitlocker encrypted and 1 more 500GB unencrypted partition, the rest of the space was unallocated. Few days ago, by mistake, while I was creating Windows Recovery
Disk chose the wrong drive letter and ended up whole partitions above deleted. Here?s what I have in HDD now: 32GB Windows 8 Recovery partition and 1831GB unallocated space. After that I haven?t made any changes to the drive. I was able to restore the data
from the last unencrypted part by using Getdataback SW but with no luck in my Bitlocker encrypted partitions. I would appreciate any advice to restore the bitlockerencrypted partitions as I have the password and recovery keys to decrypt and retrieve my data
back.

Softwares I have: Recuva. Handy Recovery. R-Studio. Getdataback. M3 Bitlocker Recovery. Starus Partition Recovery. TestDisk

I can provide the snapshots of the results from recovery softwares should you need them. Thank you very much!

It has happened to me twice...I accidentally deleted a partition and later found out that my system is dead....The only way I recover out of that is I reinstall Windows and then install grub again to recover the Linux partition. But I feel the delete partition is a very rapid process just taking seconds and in that I don't think files would be deleted, so I feel potentially I can recover the deleted partitions including the boot partition. But I don't know how to do it. Also now when the boot partition is deleted and the system is not booting up what should be done to recover the system and data?

Luckily I didnt do anything after that and referred one of the thread here on sevenforums. followed some of the suggestions give by Kaktussoft and was able to see all the partitions using partition wizard and it showed me correct list of partitions including recovery partitions. It had the personal data of my family - pictures, videos, thesis dissertations, etc., etc. and also some important documents which copies we do not have. I know, extremely stupid, the backup should always be backed up. I will definitely do that for everything in the future.

The external hardrive had 2 partitions: exFAT, where all the important things were stored, around 800 gb in size with 150 or so gb used and NTFS partition, 52gb where only a windows installation cd was stored.

I have ran partition wizard quick scan, but unfortunately it only found the second, NTFS partition, which I really could not care less about.

Is it at all possible to recover the exFAT partition

Any help is immensely appreciated!

This must be my one time blunder but I did manage to clean my 2TB backup external HDD in an attempt to clean a pendrive to make a bootable pendrive for installing Windows 8.

Now the help file for the diskpart > clean command says only the MBR partitioning information and hidden sector information are overwritten. And I was able to realize what i did exactly after hitting the enter key on the clean command.

On master boot record (MBR) disks, only the MBR partitioning information and hidden sector information are overwritten. On GUID partition table (GPT) disks, the GPT partitioning information, including the Protective MBR, is overwritten. If the ALL parameter is not used, the first 1MB and the last 1MB of the disk are zeroed. This erases any disk formatting that had been previously applied to the disk. The disk's state after cleaning the disk is 'UNINITIALIZED'.

While I am aware of the fact that any data recovery is not 100%, still I am looking for a sure-shot way to recover the data as I don't have any other drive clone the disk as a way of backing it up. So I am in need of a way which has maximum chances of recovering the data.
Some facts about the state of the drive are as under
I stopped exactly after hitting the clean command and no operation has been performed on the HDD after that.
The HDD has no partitions on it i.e. its a 2TB single partition.
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro
Is there any way I can recover my data?

A:Recover data from a diskpart > clean command

You did diskpart->clean? So not "clean all". So If the ALL parameter is not used, the first 1MB and the last 1MB of the disk are zeroed.

Was the 2TB partition originally created within win7/8?
The last 1MB is not a huge problem. Most likely it's free space. Or used by one useless file.

Where did the 2TB partition start? I mean what was the first sector of that partition? If it was below the 1MB boundary.... you're out of luck... it's overwritten with zeroes.

"To work around this issue specify a starting offset of 2,048 sectors (1 megabyte). A starting offset of 2,048 sectors covers most stripe unit size scenarios. This is the default for windows Vista and windows 7 and also adds support for GPT (guid partition tables)"
Win7/vista creates partitions starting at the 1MB boundary by default.

Hi Guys,

I was trying to install windows 7 on my windows 8.1 laptop (UEFI, samsung ATIV book 6) and when it didnt allow me to install Windows 7 on partitioned drive I followed some YouTube video foolishly from my phone and fired diskpart - clean command. everything gone after rebooted the system. Luckily I didnt do anything after that and referred one of the thread on sevenforums. followed some of the suggestions and was able to see all the partitions using partition wizard and it showed me correct list of partitions including recovery partitions. I used partition wizard to restore them. Then I tried to boot the laptop and it didnt boot into windows and gave me error

A:Recover Partitions from diskpart -> clean command

If you can boot with the Hard Drive as the primary boot device, you are not booting into UEFI.

Partition Wizard does not have a UEFI boot option. But if you use it to recovery from a Clean command, you would have needed to make sure it knew the Hard Drive was configured as GPT. I normally that using Diskpart and convert to GPT. Then Partition Wizard knows how to recover the partitions. If you did not take this step, the drive was probably recovered as a MBR configuration, and depending on how many partitions were on the drive, it may also have been converted to Dynamic.

Maybe supplying a snipping tool picture of your Disk Management window will help explain your situation. Attach using the paperclip on the Advance Replies.

Hey folks,

What I did: Within CMD>diskpart>Select disk, i ran the clean (not clean all) command on a different drive than intended, (the goal was to recover a partition of a USB thumb drive), and ended up cleaning an external data drive (3TB), and would love to find out that my data is not lost. (over 2 TB of Data).

What I've done since: I immediately cursed, and then exited the CMD before i caused any more problems. After some reading up on these forums and other forums, i ended up downloading MiniTool Partitioning Wizard, and TestDisk. Within MiniTool, I've run a quick scan, as per: How to Make Partition Recovery | MiniTool Partition Wizard Tutorial . The tool found 3 partitions, and i took a screenshot. (should be attached).

Why I'm asking for help: I'm not sure what to do now. I had approximately the unallocated amount on the right (2048.0 GB) of data.(from my screenshot). The drive is not showing up in My Computer.
Is all that is left a simple merge of the partitions?

Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,
-drfalk

Hello everyone,

My apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section. I am in the middle of a major panic attack and am trying my best to stay calm to get some help.

This is my situation ->

My Western Digital 1 TB Hard-Disk had 3 partitions.
i) C: Around 150 GB (operation system -> Formatted)
ii) D: Around 450 GB (Used around 250-300 GB)
iii) E: Around 350 GB (Used around 200 GB)

I had formatted my C: Drive to install a new operating system when I ran into some issues with MBR/GPT conflicts. I read a thread where it stated that I oughta try to clean the partition which I did but I ended up cleaning my entire disk with all partitions gone.

I panicked and created a new partition. It is 931 gb big and covers the entire hard disk. I honestly don't know why I did that. Just realised I better stop and ask guidance before proceeding. I havent done anything after that.

It had some extremely important files (I'm an animator and it has about 85% of my demo reel). I was just beginning to back up the important data in my hard disks and this has happened. I followed the advice given on this thread,

diskpart/clean by accident....need to recover partitions,begging :'(

I have just downloaded the bootable version of Partition wizard (I don't have any other harddisks to boot from.) Just about to boot with USB and see what happens. But I would really appreciate help and guidance on what to do to proceed further. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Please.

A:Diskpart-Clean accidentally. How to recover partitions with data? Help

Currently running a quick scan using MiniTool Partition Wizard. Its running at a slow rate. 4% right now. It seems to have detected 3 lost/deleted partitions so far but the partitions sizes seem to be (2.45mb used / 3.01 mb). Guess I will have to wait for it to hit 100% before knowing anything more.I will update a picture of what I get once it completes. Meanwhile, any advice on any other alternatives / procedures I should do will be greatly appreciated.

While attempting to format a USB drive in DiskPart (using the 'cmd' function) , I accidently deleted my Backup Drive "D".

How do I Recover the 2 TB drive with all my backups on it.

Since the episode my system has NOT been switched OFF or rebooted.
However I have exited from the CMD prompt.

Notwithstanding, the LIST DISK cmd within DiskPart still recognizes the Drive as Drive 1. ,
yet under the "VOLUME" command it is not recognized (only Drive "0" or my C drive).
Also within Diskmgmt.msc while being identified, I am unable to assign it as active as the system states that it is being "cleaned" ??

Your assistance is anxiously sought

A:How to Recover Logical Disk after Deleting in DiskPart Win7

Should I not be able to recover the Disk Drive using Diskpart or some such WIN product,

What steps do I need to go through to have Win7 recognize the Drive and nominate it as my backup device, assuming I delete all data from it and run Ghost for both backups to re establish their integrity ? ?

If I have to take this recovery path then I accept the fact that I've probably lost all my backup's and restore points.

A:diskpart / clean, format by accident , need to recover data

Sounds like you have one Disk , but used to have two partitions?

If your data was on a second partition ( the second half of the disk ) you may be able to get it back.

To do that you need to recover the original partition structure. Try the partition recovery on Partition wizard free boot disc.

If you already tried that, you are probably out of luck, although partition guru free is excellent for that kind of thing. It is a bit confusing, it does both partition recovery and data recovery. Data recovery on the free version is limited - suggest you do partition recovery.

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

Hello mate ... I just can suggest you only one thing, try the Partition Recovery Wizard . (there is a video link too, on how to do it) of the Partition Wizard Bootable CD . Download it using any computer , burn the downloaded iso in a blank disk, and boot your computer with that disk.

It might take a long time, so please have patience.

Hello everyone,
I had major partition problems and tried fixmbr, fixboot, etc and even rebuilding bcd was not working. I was misguided by one of the other Forums and entered:
DISKPART Select Volume 1
DISKPART Clean Volume 1
The Volume has been cleaned
[If it was to delete all data, I thought it would ask Y or N]
where volume 1 was my C drive. I had data on other drives. Immediately after this the computer hung and I was forced to restart. All this while the MBR was not working and I was on Windows 7 installation disc. Now it does not detect my Hard Disk or any of the Volumes and shows Hard Disk as 249 out of 249 Gb free. I have no choice but to go to Windows 7 Disc where there are no installations or data.
Of what I have read, this command only clears the Partition List..
While I was trying fixmbr, I even used gparted Live disc where it turns out that there is some "recursive" bug which was found.
Please help me, there is vital information on the disk as it is my office computer.
I need to recover all the data. Its very urgent. I have committed a huge blunder but is there way ?

A:DISKPART clean performed accidently. how to recover data?

Do not format the drive or do anything other than download and burn to CD free Partition Wizard, burn to CD using Windows Image Burner.

Boot PW CD by tapping the one-time BIOS boot menu key at boot, choose DVD/CD drive to boot.

Then follow this video for Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help.

I had problem with my Asus notebook for black screen after login and I was not able to resolve the issue.

1. So I decided to to format my "C: drive" and was trying to install windows 7 on my windows 7 laptop GPT partition (UEFI) and when it didn't allow me to install win7 on partitioned drive.

2. I followed YouTube video foolishly. So I selected my notebook "C drive", which is disk 0 and then, I thought that I have selected my "C drive partition".

3. I executed diskpart clean command ( without any parameters, not clean all. ONLY CLEAN) :'(
everything gone after that.

4. Then I saw my all partitions are gone and this is what i want to recover. (i had 2 partitions, C drive- 250 gb space, D drive- 400 gb space) and I had important data in "D drive(around 100 gb)".

5. And after diskpart clean command , I see that my C and D drive partitions got merged as one single partition.

Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

Hello
In an attempt to create a windows 7 bootable USB I've deleted my HDD (it was late and in a hurry ).
I have 2 drives connected: 1'st is an SSD drive - for main windows, 2'nd is a 1TB HDD drive western digital splitted in two partitions.
The commands i've runned are: diskpart, list disk (to discover the usb device number), select disk 6, clean, create partition primary, select partition 1, active, format fs=fat32 quick. At the format command it gave me an error, something that it could not format the drive. I've clicked ok since i was in a hurry and did not read the entire error.
Today I've runned MiniTool Partition Wizard Free scanner both quick and full scan but it found only one partition.
Right now i'm running the testdisk utility analyse option but is taking a while and soon i will post a screenshot.
If anyone could help me I would appreciate the help.
PS english is not my native language, sorry for spelling mistakes.

What exactly are you trying to do?
Are you trying to partition the HDD? You can easily do this from the Disk Management utility, no command prompt needed.

And, by the way, why are you formatting with FAT instead of NTFS?

I have two partitions - one is empty (Let's say "C") and other has data (Say "D") which I can't lose at any cost. I want to install Windows 7 but it asks me to clean the disk using Diskpart command.
Is there any way where I can clean only "C" partition and let "D" stay as it is, with all data intact? Or is it like that the diskpart clean command cleans entire disk (including all partitions)?
And now since I don't have an OS installed on my disk, how can I even take backup from command prompt? All it shows is X:\>
