Error - 0x800705AA when copying from client PC to Network Share

Q: Error - 0x800705AA when copying from client PC to Network Share

I have a custom built PC that I use for everything, running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I also have a custom built server running Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2. The 2 are connected to a Gigabit Router, via Gigabit connections. The 2 have been working great together for many months. Now all of a sudden, these last few days I've been unable to transfer files from the client computer to the server. Whenever I do, I get this error message:

An unexpected error is keeping you from moving (copying) the file. If you
continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for
help with this problem.

Error 0x800705AA: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the
requested service.
I haven't really done anything different than I normally do, other than maybe install some Windows Updates. I haven't installed any new programs or hardware. All I'm trying to do is move some files over to my network share. The content doesn't seem to matter either. I can transfer small 1-2k text files ok, but anything larger like photos, documents, videos, etc throw up this error. I have noticed that it has a "Try Again" button, and sometimes clicking that works the first time, while other times I have to click it 4 or 5 times, but it does eventually transfer. I thought it might be a user privilege issue (like I don't have permission to move to THAT folder, etc) but I checked and my user account has full read/write capabilities to all folders on the share path. I'm not sure how I can be out of system resources.. Task manager shows I'm currently using about 30% of RAM and 0-1% CPU. I'm also not out of drive space on my computer or the server..

I ran a chkdsk on all my drives both server side and local, they all pass with no errors. I'm currently in the process of running an "sfc /scannow" on the local system. Wow, I actually didn't get a chance to see the results before the window closed (I ran it straight from Start, rather than a command prompt, me dummy!). But interestingly, the CBS.log it created is 647MB in size! I can't even open it. Wonder if there's a problem in there somewhere... I'll try and erase it and re-do the test tomorrow. I'm half asleep right now, need to go to bed. Hopefully somebody has a clue for me!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All,

I'm having an issue when copying files from a Windows network share. If the file is above 5MB it will start copying and then after a minute or two I will get an error such as:

Interrupted Action
An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred.

The network share is in a different office and is accessible over a point-to-point VPN, so the connection is not that fast.

But before everyone tells me to start diagnosing the router and or VPN please take note of the following:

My colleague who is running Windows 7 can copy files from the network share fineIf I run a Windows 7 VM on my Windows 8.1 laptop I can copy the files across fine
I also know it isn't an issue with this particular file share. I set up a little lab, where I had one VM which had a shared folder and 2 other client VMs one running Windows 7 and one running Windows 8.1. I limited the bandwidth to the two client
VMs to a similar speed we see across our VPN. The result was that the Windows 8.1 failed with the same error above, whereas the Windows 7 copied fine.

There is also a noticeable difference visually when copying using Windows 8.1 and Windows 7:

I would appreciate any help troubleshooting the below issue.

I have a Mac Mini (running OS X) which has a USB Drive connected to it.

The Mac Mini's USB drive is mounted as a share in Windows 7 Ultimate 64x fully patched. I am running on a custom built machine that has been stable for years and have had no hardware changes in the last few months, the most recent being the addition of an Crucial M4 SSD as the boot drive.

I am copying (or trying to) 1.7TB of data from the mounted USB shared drive to a Synology Disk Station. I usually step away from the computer for an extended period of time as the transfer will take about 20 hours. When I go to check on the process the computer has restarted due to a BSOD. This has happened 2 times and I suspect will happen again.

To help troubleshoot I have uploaded the C:\Windows\Minidump\(3 files)
and The System Health Report per the BSOD Posting Instructions.

The MEMORY.DMP file is whopping 571MB (is that normal?) so I could not attach it. My expertise lies primarily in OS X, though I am in the process of moving over to Windows. Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated. If the MEMORY.DMP file is of importance I can find a way to get it to you.

Hello all, today I finally got around to creating a home network between my two desktops and laptop. Well, I set it up using the Network Setup Wizard, and then attempted to share my "My Music" folder (22 GB) and "My Videos" folder (12 GB). Well, when I went to Properties->Sharing and checked the "Share this folder on the network" tab, I got an error message stating:

An error occured while trying to share My Music. The Server service is not started.
The shared resource was not created at this time.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I think I have found why I can't share files on this computer. When I go to My Network Places and click on "View workgroup computers", I get another message saying:
Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this netowrk resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found.

I found this odd because this was the first computer I setup for networking. I have also googled this message, and found that it is commonly caused by the Windows Firewall. I have the Windows Firewall deactivated, and instead I'm using Zone Alarm.

All help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi all, I have a weird problem. And also complicated, 'cos not even my CISCO Network teacher has been able to give me a solution. I think I need some smart people here

The thing is that I can't share my printer (connected by USB to my PC) with my laptop on another room, over the local network (in Win7 the name is Home Group).

The printer model is not relevant because time ago I was able to do what I'm trying now.

All my configurations are OK, at least the basic ones, because there's definetely something wrong with my PC, and here's why: if I take my laptop and put it next to the printer and connect it to it (by the same USB cable), I can access the printer with my PC, while it's been shared by the laptop.

That proves that the internal network is fine. Also, all the configurations of the printer and also of the home group are literally same in both PCs, the big one and the laptop.

Both PCs run Win7. I have tried this, Connect to printer error - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads, but it didn't work.

The printer is also properly installed on my PC, it is not a driver problem or something like that.

My AV is ESET ESSBE 4, but I don't think it's related, because I have tried deactivating its firewall, and also, on the laptop the AV is the same and the
printer did work.

The services are also equal in both PC's now. I have even tried changing the network adaptor on my PC (from Ethernet to Wifi). Nothing.

I recently had problems with the home group, but ... Read more

I'm experiencing a weird windows 7 copy error.
I have a folder that will copy just fine onto another NTFS drive but will say "Error 0x80070032: The request is not supported." when I copy/paste onto my Network drive at E: (mounted using \\server\sharename on E: -- error is not specific to E:,
any other mount point will produce the same error).
I tried giving generous permissions, removing attributes, etc. nothing worked. I can't reason why it would say this error only for this folder, the other folders are copying just fine.
The peculiar thing is -- If I use "robocopy" it copies just fine onto the network share (note that I'm not using any magical options with robocopy to do this), but it would simply fail when I use the windows explorer copy.
"Robocopy" is a command I cannot train my users with. I need to know exactly what is causing this error so I can advice users in my homegroup so they can be successful copying to the network drive. Also, it's really very frustrating that a random
folder will fail to copy with this error and a user can just not figure what might cause this issue.
Please help!  Also, please note that I have tried all possible options such as disabling client smbv1, registry entries etc all mentioned on that one & only microsoft KB article that fails to provide a definitive solution. And YES I've tried to
check that Task Scheduler and Events Logger and relevant services are enable... Read more

I am able to connect from XP to a network share at my workplace by giving login/password. However, when I try to connect from Windows 7 i get the error: "specified authentication package is unknown"

However, I am able to connect to another shares. From XP no one is having any problems in connecting to this share at all.

One of our users saves powerpoints onto a network share, she has been doing this for years, I upgraded her to office 07 yesterday and this morning she is reporting when she saves a file on the network share it reverts to the previous changes.

The thing is when you close the file and reopen after you have saved, the changes are there. But if you wait 30 seconds the changes are reverted back, has anyone come across this before? There is no error message and annoyingly it looks to have saved the file but it doesn't.

Anyone got any ideas, many thanks.

We are getting the following error when mapping to a network drive of a DFS share on Windows 7:
?The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred:

A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated."
In our case, the user logs on his workstation using his regular domain account, then maps to the network DFS share using the service account of an application.
There is a fix from Microsoft (MS KB968264). But this fix requires disabling the "Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication? property. This is against the Microsoft own best practices (Network access:
?Do not allow storage of passwords and credentials for network authentication? should be set to
ENABLED), and is NOT acceptable for us for obvious security reasons.
Question: Does anyone know an alternative fix to this issue that does not introduce security risks?
Thank you in advance!

I have a unusual case where I need to setup two mapped network drives as two different users to the same share location. When I attempt to map the second drive after inputting the user name and password the system goes on its merry way for a few seconds
and then returns me back to the username/password input.
If I change the second mapped network drive to use the IP address the two shares work happily. If I manipulate the host file and point two paths to the same address then I can also work around this problem. However, I would simply like to know why I am blocked
from setting two mapped drives to point to the same share with different credentials?
TestFolder on TestServer is shared to TestUser1 & TestUser2 where the IP of TestServer is
If I map S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser2 it will not work.
Mapping S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\\TestFolder using TestUser2 it will work and I can access the folder as the two different users.
Case 3
If I map S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1 it will also work (but I am accessing S: & T: as the same user).
Why do cases 2 + 3 work, but case 1 does not?

Need a little help. I have three W7 Home Premium Systems running on a gigabit network. I have saved 82 pics on my easyshare project file some from camera and some from scanning in and i want to burn to a dvd. The problem is that they must be in the same order and yet everytime i try this the dvd shows pictures in a different order. I have tried updating the date taken on each picture which at least keeps them in the correct order on easyshare but HOW DO I GET THEM TO SAVE TO DVD IN THAT ORDER

A:Copying pics from Kodak easy share to DVD

What program are you using to burn with?

I'll tell you how I solve that problem, may or may not be for you. This only works properly in XP as far as I know, and if all the pics are the same format. I copy the pictures I want ordered to a new folder (so the original named files stay where they are).

In the new folder of pictures I choose the icon view and arrange the photos in the order I want them to be left to right, top to bottom. Then I select them all and right clicking on the first pic I choose rename... and name them something like DVDphoto (100).jpg.
The number in the parenthesis is your starting number and xp will renumber all the photos based on that starting number and that becomes the new order key since all the photos will now have the same name except for the number.

Then if the burning program is keying on filename, which I suspect it is (or disregard this method), you should be good to go.

I have an odd issue.. a user reports that they are unable to access a network shared folder from their PC. Here is what I have gathered so far:
-The network share is from their PC located at C:\SQL2014. The share name is SQL2014. Their hostname for this example is "ABC".
-If I attempt to connect to the share from the user's PC ABC to \\ABC\SQL2014 I get the generic error:
  "Windows cannot access \\ABC\SQL2014
You do not have permission to access \\ABC\SQL2014. Contact your network administrator to request access."
-If I attempt to connect to the share by ABC's IP \\\SQL2014 I can access it.
-If I attempt to connect to the share by ABC's FQDN at  \\ABC.domain.com\SQL2014 I can access it.
-If I map ABC\SQL2014 as a drive letter, I can access it.
-Connecting to this share works fine from any other PC other than ABC.
-I've confirmed the error is affecting any profile old or new on ABC, which means it is a PC-wide issue on ABC.
-If I share C:\SQL2014 as ANY OTHER NAME OTHER THAN SQL2014, I can access it. As in if I share C:\SQL2014 with the share name SQL2014a, I can access \\ABC\SQL2014a.
-Deleted the share and recreated - same issue.
-Created C:\Test and shared it as SQL2014, cannot access \\ABC\SQL2014. It is NOT an issue with the actual SQL2014 folder.

A short Google search confirmed my previous experiences on developing these kinds of statistics. One has to pay to glean the information. Companies like "The Radicati Group, Inc", a technology market research firm, provide reports on this kind of information at several thousand dollars each licensed copy. I did find one small site that comments on it's noted browser usage over a short period of time. http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2004/12/...hare-dont-care/ Note the author's comment about share's being relative.... A:Vista Host Won't Share Internet with XP Client

I just thought I'd update this in case anyone else ends up in the same boat. By default my network was on public and the connection wouldn't work. In the process of trying to find the setting blocking it, I made the shared connection (default private) public too figuring that would be correct. The thought process was that public means anything goes, so the internet should flow and share without anything blocking it (not the case apparently). After a couple days of trying every solution possible (assigning static ip's, bridging connections and others I'd seen from google searches), I decided to change the main connection to 'Private' and of course it worked. Just a simple setting, but it had me stumped and I'm probably not the only one. The shared connection STILL says 'Local Only' where the host says 'Local and Internet" ... but it works. I'm not sure if that is saying that it doesn't have it's own internet connection or for some reason it just works. This is my first plunge into Vista.

Just to reiiterate my problems were I could see and share files with a Vista host and XP client, but no internet on client. I would share the internet like any other version of ICS and then the host wouldn't have internet...neither would the XP client.

I'm trying to map a network drive from my windows client running Windows 7 Enterprise. The folder is a Samba share on a linux (Fedora core 13) server. When I attempt to map the drive using the folder \\\earth, I get the message via a dialog box:

an unexpected network error occurred

From the explorer window, it appears like the drive got mapped (green line is on) but when I click it on, I get the same message as above.

I can map the Samba share just fine on machines running Vista Home premium and XP professional but I can't get it to work on my Windows 7 box. I'm figuring that the problem is on the Windows side and not on the Linux side since I can map the drive on other machines using different Windows OS.

I've tried all the suggestions of setting the various network security and network access options in the policy editor and nothing seems to work.

If anyone can offer any suggestions or help, it would be most appreciated...

I am running a weather program (AS2012) on a client for Flight Simulator X (FSX) on the server. The client connects to the server by Simconnect.
Both machines run W7 Home Premium x64 and I run them with full Administrator permissions.
The SimConnect.ini file is located in a folder on the server:  C:\Users\FSX_XPlane\My Documents\Flight Simulator X\
This is shared across the network with Full Control for Everyone. The owner is FSX_XPlane.
I can access and open the simconnect.ini file from the client.
When I run the weather program on the client it does not connect to FSX on the server.  The system log shows that the path to the simconnect.ini file is not set (attached - time 23:06:44:0096).
The other required simconnect file paths are correctly identified.
If anyone can suggest an explanation for this, and a fix, I'd be grateful.

I have a NT4 server and recently added 2 WinXp pc's to my domain, but they seem slower than my old NT4 and W2K workstation. It takes about 60sec to open a word document from a network share on the server, and only when I haven't been working on my pc for a while. Opening a second one goes at normal speed, Xp seems to need some time to reconnect to the server share I think. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I have a windows network. 4 Computers are Win98SE #1, Win98SE #2, XPsr2 #1 and XP sr2#2. I have USB printers attached to 98SE #1 and XPsr2 #1. Printers are shared. System in place for approx. 2yrs and has worked fine. About 3 weeks ago XPsr2 #1 had difficulty accessing the printer on Win98Se #1. Access became very slow. No other computers were affected and all file sharing btwn all computers worked fine. On XP 1, I removed and reinstalled the 98se1 printer many times with no luck. I completely uninstalled the USB printer on Win #1, removed all drivers and then did a new install. I opened it as a share. All the other computers found it and added it to their printers. Xp#1 "sees it" but when I try to access it the XP#1 computer freezes, even by trying to print a blank page from wordpad/notepad. I hooked an old parallel HP111p to Win #1. XP1 sees it but accesses it very slowly. XP1 prints fine to the printer attached to it. I have scanned for virus/worms etc with latest edition of Symantec. The whole system is behind a Linksys firewall. I plugged my network cable into different ports.
What I do know is that:
system used to work,
printer is freely accessible to the other computers,
regular file sharing btwn all computers works fine,
my other XP computer is virtually identical to XP1 and it accessess the printer fine,
the printer works fine from instructions from its own computer,
I have not added any software to either of the affected computers.

Hello guys, I've been racking my brain trying to solve this problem for months, with no posted internet solutions working.

Problem: Attempting to copy files from a mounted network server to an HP Ultrium 6250 tape drive results in Windows security errors and prevents copying from working. It appears to be a mix of internet security settings
or permissions related, and nothing changed has worked yet.

Running Windows 8.1, and the drive has simply been mounted via map network drive as the IP of the server \\192.x.x.x with appropriate credentials. The system is able to work with files in every other regard, copy and paste locally, etc. Trying to
do the same through the tape drive is the only related "Security error" we've encountered.

This is what happens:

Windows Security
"These files might be harmful to your computer.
Your internet security settings suggest that one or more files might be harmful to your computer. Would you like to continue?"

Clicking OK results in a second warning dialog:

"An unexpected error is preventing you from copying the file.

0x8007003A: The specified server cannot complete the operation."

Try Again, Skip or Cancel

Clicking anything but cancel will continuously pop the same dialog up for every single file. It starts with .DS_Store files, as some directories were created via OSX, but this shouldn't be a problem in theory. The server is OSX Server running on
Yosemite, conne... Read more

Cannot access NAS Drives
Cannot access network attached storage
Error accessing NAS
\\Share\Folder is not accessible
Error code: 0X80070035 The network path was not found

Hi all,
I fixed a stubborn networking issue and hopefully someone else can benefit from all the frustration I have experienced over the last few days.

Some background. This was a workgroup network not a domain client/server.
Also, Windows HomeGroup wizards were not used - just accounts and passwords.
I have five NAS boxes for storage and backup. These NAS boxes use CIFS or SMB file systems. IP address are assigned through DHCP. It is a very simple yet secure workgroup net. Everything was OK then it hit the fan.
I installed a new router after the old one failed. I powered down the entire network, cabled up and configured the new router. On my old Vista notebook PC all five NAS devices were OK. In Vista, Windows Explorer, I could access all the folders and files
on all the NAS boxes.
However on all the other systems, Windows 7 or Windows 8, I would get errors. In Windows Explorer I could see "\\MyNAS\Share\" but cannot navigate to it.

I would get an error:
"\\MyNAS\Share\ is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. The specified network name is no longer available."
"Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found"
Another symptom of the error: I could not access the NAS adm... Read more

I have created an ad hoc wireless network by the name "Trial1" and created a network key as "letstry99".

Now I am trying to login to this network from other computer which is in the same room at 5 ft distance. This ad hoc network appears in the list of available networks. When I try to login, it asks for the network key. I provided network key and then confirmed it, now when I click connect, instead of getting connected to first computer I am getting pop up window mwssage.
In the title bar of the pop window it says "Wireless configuration"
In the message it reads "The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters."

Then I changed network key to "letstry99999" (i.e. exactly 13 ascii characters) and now I am able to connect to the ad hboc wireless network of first computer.

Does it mean that network key has to bne exactly 5 or 13 ascii characters and nothing else than that. If not, then "letstry99" network key has ascii characters between 5 and 13 ascii characters, then why am I getting this kind of message ?

But now I can not browse files of fisrt computer from second computer or vice versa.

Pls. check your Server's Event Viewers error logs, especially DNS errors.

What type of Security or AV Software do you have installed in your Server?

Will it be possible for you to post an ipconfig /all output of one Win7 machine and the Server?

due to the fact that we are a small business firm and don't have a server OS I'd like to create a network drive folder tree for Lawyers, Secretaries etc. with different access rights and so on.

On our Storage-Workstation I'm able to deny access or free access to folders completely, but if I wanna allow access only for special users, I don't succeed.

I can specify groups and users in Computer management - Local users and groups, but I can't include the computers of our workgroup, I don't see them, only the workstation pc name is given. Can somebody help me?

I've just had a new PC built for me, for the first time rather than build it myself I aid a local shop, and it's a pretty nice machine. They got windows up and running, when I got it back and lugged it in I don't even remember it asking about whether my network was home, work or public (I may be mistaken about that)

A lot of the networking is fine, by adding 'everyone' to the share, and joining the same homegroup as my laptop, I managed to get each to see their desktops, so I'm up and running with most of my workflow. But there's a couple of things not quite right about the network:

I've got a Xerox Phaser 60 network printer. It's got a simple 'walk-up' installer where you get the windows software into listening mode and then on the printer's menu initiate the connection. This doesn't find the printer. Even choosing the manual option of inputting the ip won't find it. So I've had to connect it with USB, not the end of the world, but shows that something's not right.

I have a lot of media on a dlna server in my home. Setting up kodi to find it, the SMB devices didn't show the host. Though, manually typing the IP in this case did find it. Lucky I knew the IP. Weird

And trying to FTP to my website fails too. It says "EAI_FAIL - Nonrecoverable failure in name resolution" Yet the same settings on my laptop (imported from the laptop) connects fine.

Surely there's something not quite right. Is there a way to reset all the network connection settings to default 'out of... Read more

When trying to add users to a shared folder, on a server, a problem occurs in that instead of showing the user name in the security tab of the folder we get the SID (S-1-5-21-####). This happens for all users we try to add. And for users in the same and different domains. We can sign on to the users PC/servers and the server with the shared folder with no problem . There seems to be no problems with the users PC/server. The user from another domain can see a shared folder, on another server, in the same domain as the server with the problem.
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Hey guys, this has been bothering me for SO long, please help!!. Ok, so on my home network, I have my Vista laptop (which is the computer I'm on now, and mainly use) and an XP Desktop machine. I use my XP computer to download all of my music, so whenever I get new music, I want to transfer it to my laptop. On my laptop, I have a shortcut to my desktop's music folder, which is a shared folder, so I can easily transfer songs and what not. Here is my problem: Whenever I try to copy/transfer a NEW song from my desktop over to my laptop, an error comes up saying "You need permission to perform this action". The reason I bolded "new" is because the error only comes up when I try to copy a new song over to my laptop! If I copy a song older than around 2 weeks, it works perfectly, no errors or anything. Trust me, I have all the sharing options enabled and everything like that. The new songs are able to be shared and they aren't "read only". So whenever I get a new song and need to put it on my laptop, I always have to go on my desktop computer, copy and paste the song (make a duplicate) to another shared network folder, then go on my laptop and copy it from there, and that works. I have no idea why. So my question in a nutshell, why can I not transfer NEW songs from one computer to another, unless I make a duplicate of the file, over my home network?

Thanks for any help.

Actually, you may have the XP firewall running, which would screw up the works.

Right click on My Network Places, select Properties.
Right click on Local Area Network, select Properties.
Select the advanced tab, and turn off the firewall.
Do this on both machines.

I have a small home network in which I often copy or move files from one computer to another.

Recently I noticed that there is a problem copying MPG and WMV files from other computers to one running Vista Home premium. I get the message: "You must have permission to perform this action".

Permission from whom? I am the administrator. There is no problem performing this action with TXT, DOC, JPG, EXE or any other file type. What is the problem with these video file types and how do I fix it?

My present work around is copying to a flash drive and using that copy to transfer MPG and WMV files to the Vista computer.
