I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi: HP will provide no driver support for any PC made before August of 2013. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05195282 Your PC's release date was 06-Aug-2010. Now if that was the only problem you had when you upgraded to W10 the last time, and you want to give W10 another try, you may want to go through the resolution steps at the link below, should the DVD drive turn up missing again. Normally, Resolution #6 takes care of the non-existing DVD drive. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/314060/your-cd-or-dvd-drive-is-not-recognized-by-windows-or...

Hi: There wouldn't be anything you can do about the graphics driver. If you have issues with the graphics, like W10 and like your PC, if you can, install a graphics card that works with the power supply your PC has, and W10. You can update to the latest audio driver below.  Accept the agreement.  Download and install the 2nd driver on the list for 64 bit. http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT... Hello,  I purchased RAM to upgrade my HP Pavilion Slimline 400 Desktop PC.  I've installed additional RAM in a Dell PC I used to own with no problem.  This will be my first attempt at an hp.  After watching videos online,  I am getting confused.  One video shows the RAM just inside the side panel.  Another states that I will need to remove the optical drive first.  Does anyone know of a good video on how to get to the RAM to get this accomplished?  Thanks, Alan

A:Re: HP Pavilion Slimline 400 Desktop PC RAM upgrade

@alant1,Welcome back.  Remove the side panel, and as the video shows, you may have to slide the DVD/CD drive to access the RAM slots.  Slimlines are very compact.

Here is the link to upgrade CPU models. The "Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt)" seems to be the top model.  You will need new thermal paste, using the same heat sink.  The variation in power is only an added 6W. Here's a link (sold out) but look at the specs. Amazon should have it.  Do not get the Black Edition.

Does anyone know if the HP Pavilion Slimline s5325uk Desktop PC can be fitted with a 2gb graphics card?  Recently bought a game which needs this as a minimum. Thanks in advance.

A:HP Pavilion Slimline s5325uk Desktop PC upgrade option

Hi, Your PC is not really suitable for modern games.  However, if you wish to find a graphics card that meets your requirements then look for the following: Low profile, single width, non-UEFI graphics card that is rated by the manufacturer to work with a 220 watt power supply. Measure the length of your existing graphics card so you will know the length size limitation. Perhaps you can find this Nvidia graphics card on eBAY or somewhere else.

Can I upgrade Nvidia graphics card to latest cards or supported one from Nvidia.

The reason to change the graphics card is, it is over heating and crossing the 100 degree celsius which reports in black screen and suddenly crashes.

So anyone can tell me which is the suitable graphics card that will support HP Pavilion P6270IN Desktop .
What will be the upgrade process with new graphics card?

Please suggest.

Below is the Product information:
Link : HP Pavilion P6270IN Desktops
Prod: AU930AA#ACJ

Hardware Information:
Motherboard: IPIEL-LA3 (Eureka3)
RAM: 4GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT220
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500

A:How to upgrade Graphics card of HP Pavilion p6270in Desktop PC

You have a PCI-e slot on your motherboard so theoretically you can fit any of the latest cards. It's not that simple though, for starters you only have a 300W PSU which will limit you to the most basic cards and is probably why a GT220 is fitted. You'd need at least a 450W PSU to run a decent card.
You only have a dual core CPU too which will bottleneck any of the latest nVidia cards.
Lastly is case size, some of today's cards are absolutely massive and the chances are most would be too big for your case.

One thing to try to get your GPU temperatures down is to remove the side panel from the case (with the power switched off and every external cable unplugged) and give the machine a good clean out with a soft brush and a can of compressed air. Dust build up can easily block the heatsink on the GPU (as well as other components) which will stop it from cooling properly.
Are you using this machine for gaming by any chance?

A:HP Pavilion V6300 Desktop PC. upgrade with free disc

Unfortunately that is very unliely to happen. Operating system licenses are not for free. There never was a free path to upgrade from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 or to Vista 64-bit.  There was an either or scenario that existed in Enterprise model desktop PCs if purchased that way, but yours is an eight year old consumer version.  That makes it a moot point. Microsoft does not support Vista nor sell copies of the operating system anymore.  That boat sailed quite a while ago.

Since I upgraded to Windows 8, I am no longer able to save individual Remote Desktop Connection files as .rdp files. I am talking about the traditional Remote Desktop Connection application on the Desktop that was in previous Windows versions, not the
Remote Desktop App from the Windows 8 store.
When I try to click on the Save button I get "An error occurred while saving to file"
When I try to click on the Save As button I get "Unable to open connection file" with the file address being where I tried to save it with the file name at the end.
Also when I upgraded to Windows 8, my .rdp files disappeared from my Documents folder.
I need to create different .rdp files for different programs that my employees get into on my server. Now I have to hand type all the info each time into the Programs tap on the Remote Desktop Connection window, because I can't save to an
.rdp file.
I like the Remote Desktop App from the Windows store but it won't let me designate specific programs to use using standard dos notation (ie c:\program files\ etc..). It just goes to my server desktop.
I want to promote Windows 8 to my employees but I need either .rdp files for the traditional Remote Desktop Connection or the ability to open specific programs using dos notation in the Windows Store Remote Desktop App.

I am considering upgrading my HP Pavilion to Windows 10.  I consulted HP's Web site and was advised that "HP has tested your PC model and has determined that it can be upgraded to Windows 10, but there is information to review before moving forward." In the Section "Potential Feature Limitions/Intel precessors and Windows 7/8 32-bit I found this statement:"Computers configured with Intel Broadwell (Intel Core i3-5xxx, Core i5-5xxx, Core i7-5xxx; Pentium 38xx, Celeron 37xx/32xx) or Haswell (Intel Core i3-4xxx, i5-4xxx, i7-4xxx; Pentium 35xx, Celeron 29xx) processors and 32-bit versions of Windows 8.1 are not capable of upgrading to Windows 10 using the Windows Upgrade tool." My Pavilion runs an i3-4130 CPU and the 64-bit version of Wondows 7 Home Premium. In one place I am told I can upgrade to Windows 10.  The other place seems to suggest that I can't.  Please advise.

A:Can I upgrade my Pavilion 500 to Windows 10

Hi: The way I interpret the cautionary statement you posted is that only applies if you are running a 32 bit operating system on your PC, which you are not. It also says those PC's with those criteria can't use the W10 upgrade tool. I would imagine then folks in that circumstance could use the W10 media creation tool for 32 bit, by making the 32 bit DVD, and running the upgrade from the DVD on the windows desktop. I don't see any restrictions against doing that on the microsoft website below. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

A:Can I & should I upgrade to Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion?

Rob_E Sorry that no-one got back to you earlier about this ... I have been out for a while and only now just saw this; don't know why no-one else responded to you. Anyway ... my advice would have been NOT to upgrade to Win10.  You have a really old video chipset and there are no new Win10 drivers for it, which would have relegated you to something Microsoft calls a Basic Display Adapter, meaning you would get low resolution and low performance. Plus, the lack of HP Win10 drivers for your other hardware could very well have rendered other functions unworking, as well. The older PCs simply did not fare well with the upgrade -- but at least you got warded about it in advance and did not end up with a trashed PC -- which is what happened to me!

A:HP Pavilion 15-e019tx upgrade os windows 8.1 to 10

@PratikT5130 The good news is that Win8.1 drivers often work well in Win10; the bad news is that there is no guarantee of that -- and if they don't work well, then you're stuck with a laptop with limited functionality because HP is no longer writing Win10 drivers for the older PCs. So, BEFORE you attempt the upgrade, you should do two things. 1) Check for compatibility. Run this Win10 appraisal tool from MS:  http://www.thewindowsclub.com/manually-run-windows-10-compatibility-appraiser 2) Create an image backup of your PC using a free third-party tool so that, if the upgrade goes badly, you have something to restore your PC from: I personally prefer to use third-party Recovery solutions as they tend to be both more flexible and more reliable than any built-in solutions.Macrium Reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or entire drives: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspxWhat I recommend is the following:1) Download and install Macrium Reflect (MR)2) Run MR and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB stick3) Use the option to create a boot USB stick or CDMy experience is that MR, when using the High Compression option, typically can compress the saved image file to about 50% of the USED space in the OS partition. This means if you have an 80GB OS partition, and 40GB is used, MR only needs a... Read more

I purchased my HP Pavilion a6532f in 2009 and it came preloaded with Windows Vista. It has an AMD Athlon X2 CPU, 3gb RAM, and shows that it supports 64bit OS. I plan on upgrading to 8gb of RAM, I can get this working. Since Microsoft will no longer support Vista soon, I installed Windows 7 64bit (did not upgrade since you can't do an upgrade from 32-64bit). The install completed with no glitches and installed all my drivers. My problem is with Windows Update. It never stops seaching, even after 8 hrs.  I start the "Windows update" as normal, but it never finishes searching. I have a Pavilion g7 Notebook PC that currently has Windows 8.  This morning I received a pop up box stating windows 10 would be installed on Sunday.  I decided to not wait and selected install now.  the screen went fast and I could not get all the information other than something about download and reboot.  I dont think it dowloaded anything given that took about  1 minute.  I called Microsoft this morning and they told me hooked up to my computer and told me the laptop can be upgrade to Windows 10; however I needed to contact HP for current drivers.  I have been all over Hp site trying to find this information and can't seem to find it.  Can you help?  I do have a serial number and product # but I dont know the series.

A:Pavilion g7 Notebook Window 8 upgrade to Windows 10

sheilabroderick I read your post about needing Win10 drivers and wanted to help -- but need more information. If you can, please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001If that is not possible, then look for a sticker on the PC that includes the product number and post that here.  If the battery is removable, the sticker is likely to be in the battery compartment. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Dear HP community, i am am currently having an issue with my computer of 5 years. I have been rejecting the Windows 10 update for as long as I could but ultimately it did a self update and shortly after updating, I was unable to even start up my computer as I kept getting stuck at the loading page with two errors "error with FAT32 hard drive" and "error with NTFS hard drive". To which, the subsequent message would be "we are attempting to resolve this issue by restarting your computer" and I would be stuck in the infinite loop where my computer cannot start upi would appreciate any and all forms of help as this is highly frustrating, given that my school term has started and I am suddenly without a computer. Please help! Thank you. RegardsYi Xiang

Hi guys,
today I wanted to buy laptop HP Pavilion DV6-6B17EZ.
I wanted to buy the laptop like it is and then install professional version since I need it for the software SAP GUI.
Unfortunately the guy in the shop told me that :

1)Windows professional will create problems on my laptop because of the drivers of the web cam and Audio card.
Furthermore I will not be abe to install the HP SW anymore.
I think that's bull **** but I would appreciate some feedbacks on that.

2)Furthermore I have been told that in case of failure during the guarantee period I would need to have windows home premium. Is that possible and easy?
should I create restore point or something similar?

3)what would be the easiest, fastest option for the OS upgrade.I have alreaday red a bit about the procedure but I am not sure.

Thanks in advance for all the support could be provided.

Regards,
GP

A couple of years ago I bought a HP Pavilion Dv2-1030us 12" notebook with an AMD Athlon Neo 64 processor, 4GB memory and Windows Vista Home Premium. I hoped to carry it in my truck, but it's lousy battery life and slow performance with a 3G MiFi connection made that nearly impossible. It also runs so hot you can't use it sitting on your lap and I wasn't comfortable leaving it in the truck (even in an insulated bag) on hot days (and that's everyday in the summer here in Phoenix, AZ). According to CPUbenchmark.net, the Neo 64 processor benchmark score is only 386, the same as an Intel Atom 550 netbook processor.

My wife used it in the bedroom for web browsing and email for the last year. She gave it back when I moved her desktop computer into the bedroom. The old Dell Inspiron I kept in the Family Room finally died so I plan to keep the Dv2 downstairs for web browsing, email and occasional html editing.

Speedtest.net reported a download speed at 11.30 Mbps on it this evening, so it has a fast wireless internet connection. But most web pages are really slow to load. McAfee says it's clean, but I have not ran any other diagnostic tools. A couple of months ago I cloned it's hard drive onto a new 7200 rpm drive before I figured out the intermittent noise it makes is from it's system fan.

I found Windows 7 drivers on HP's website. I also found a Windows 7 Home Premium 3 user family pack in stock at a retailer I trust. Then I found an online user review saying it wa... Read more

A:Upgrade to Windows 7 or keep Vista on a HP Pavilion Dv2-1030us?

windows 7 is faster, but not by too much. I would suggest keeping vista, but cleaning it up a bit. update the goodness into that thing. windows update, and look for the important and optional updates you need. defragment that bad boy. remove all programs you don't need. i recommend Microsoft security essentials and malewarebytes instead of mcafee (unless you are paying for it). even if you are paying, then malewarebytes is a good software program to have. it doesn't need to be set up to automate, but just use it every once in a while (free).

Disk check and clean up some things for more space:

You could upgrade the RAM without paying too much if you really wanted. 3-4 GB RAM would alleviate trouble on that end. make sure all RAM matches though, no mixing RAM.

You could go into computer>system properties>advanced system settings (far left hand side)>performance>Settings and then uncheck as many "pretties" as you don't mind letting go.

you can click computer>properties (right click first) and then DESELECT compress drive and DESELECT allow files to.. index if you don't mind not having a search index. compressing a drive isn't a good idea anyway for that first one.

look up ways to make vista faster on google and it will give you lots of info, both good and bad. you will have to decide what you like or not. You could also install IE9 on your computer and remove every other web browser (unless you prefer another), as IE9 has been streamlined a b... Read more

HI There,Ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 my HP Pavilion x360 has been a complete wreck. Including charging and sound issues. I've been able to resolve the sound issue by using device manager and uninstalling the drivers entirely. I have done the same for the charging problem but to no avail-restart after restart it refuses to charge. This 2-in-1 tablet/pc was purchased about a year ago. And has only had problems since the upgrade. I do not feel comfortable removing the battery as the batter on this particular model is actually enclosed in the casing. As I mentioned I've uninstalled the battery drivers from device managers a few times. Is there:1. A way to get the battery to take a charge without removing it (i.e. troubleshooting site)2. A way to roll they OS all the way back to Windows 7? I've tried rolling it back a few versions but I'm still in Windows 10. Thanks for your help!

Well I think @WAWood? would warn you not to do it and I have seen that many folks have post-upgrade issues, particularly with the Intel and AMD switchable graphics. I am not sure what you think Windows 10 will do for you that Windows 7 will not?

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)After updating to Windows 10 my pc (model f23-6010ea) won't boot. It doesn't even seem to start the POST. Screen blank, keyboard and mouse totally unresponsive. There is power. The fan is on and disk light comes on for a few seconds. The disk doesn't seem to be spinning up though. I disconnected the drive and also disconnected the CMOS battery for a while. this had no effect. The graphics card is built in so I couldn't test this. There are no beep codes. Nothing. But the pc is clearly powered up There is only one exteral button on the pc which is the on off switch. Is there any way to reset the pc to factory settings and/or reflash the bios without keyboard mouse and screen access? Apologies. I originally posted this in the Misc forum but I then though that this is the more correct one and switched. Thanks johhny

A:Pavilion 23 All in one wont Boot after Windows 10 Upgrade

Greetings, Download (on another PC) the Win 10 .ISO here and follow instructions to create either USB or DVD install media. Boot to media on your PC and try repair options. If this fails you will have to reinstall factory operating system. You are one of the unfortunate individuals having a failed Win 10 install and no automatic rollback to the previous operating system. Also see this article by Ed Bott. TomP

You're very welcome. I explored some more and found this model which has a newer revision of the Jasmine motherboard your PC has but it still has the same IDT 92HD73E audio chip. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04212751 The good news is that PC has a W10 IDT audio driver, so maybe this one will do the trick. This package provides the Tempo High Definition Audio Driver for supported desktop models that are running a supported operating system. Fix and enhancements- Provides the Tempo High Definition Audio Driver (Original IDT) for system upgrading to Windows 10. File name: sp71717.exe

And MS is saying I should come back to HP for update dated drivers. thank you

I downloaded an update for transferring files to my Android phone. At completion it told me I needed to run setup.exe which wasn't the name of the program I downloaded so I told it to ignore. The it background downloaded a bunch of programs without permission and told me it needed to restart. I went to MSCONFIG and set the computer to load in Safe Mode w/ Networking so I could run my anti-virus and anti-malware and remove the items it downloaded, but after restart the computer failed to load.

I have left unplugged for over 24 hours and didn't help. According to HP site my computer can't load from disc without telling it to from boot menu which I cant get to.
I push power and I hear power source fan start. The led lights up for about 30-45 seconds and goes out. Makes no beeps or other sounds at all.

Please help...
