Macro help - Microsoft SideWinder X6

Q: Macro help - Microsoft SideWinder X6

So I've just started playing an MMO - Age of Conan, and I think I'm able to use my Microsoft SideWinder X6 Keyboard properly for the first time. I pretty much bought it because it looked good... hah.. now I need to know how to set macros?

The game is pretty intense in the sense you must press your combo attack, then follow directions and press corresponding keys in order. I was hoping I could set up macro for some during pvp.

Would anyone be able to tell me how to do that? I'm completely over my head here, cheers.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I figured out through its own software, but I cannot seem to figure out how to make it so theres 1 second wait between certain keys, etc, for the macro.

Unless someone can tell me by recording the macro during the game, how do I then select what I've recorded so I can use it?

Hello all,
In order to make my gaming experience that much funner (and easier) I have used the macro creation on my SideWinder Precision 2. This was fairly easy to find in SideWinder Central 3.02 -- which ran on my old OS (Windows 2000). Unfortunately, now that I have upgraded to Windows XP Pro, SideWinder Central 3.02 does not support XP, and I can't get it to install.
The first thing I tried was to find and install a copy of SideWinder Central 4.0 -- which works, and recognizes my Precision 2, but will not let me create macros and game profiles.
This is all very frustrating and I would appreciate any help you can give me.

In summary:
Old System: Windows 2000, SideWinder Central 3.02 (completely functional)
New System: Windows XP Pro, SideWinder Central 4.0 (minimally functional)

A:SideWinder Precision 2 macro incompatability

You guy could try to install 3.02 version on XP, and then run it in compatibility mode with windows 2000.

Don't know if this would work, but might be worth a shot.

I have three systems with the Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Keyboard. Two of the systems are running Windows 8.1 and one is running Windows 7. The two Windows 8.1 systems take a full 8 seconds (the first time) from the time I hit a macro key until it actually enters the information. After the first time all is well - meaning the information is entered almost instantaneously when hitting a macro key. The Windows 7 system takes less that two seconds the first time and is almost instantaneous after that. The two Windows 8.1 system are setup with a 3770K and 3570K processors running at 4.5GHz. The Windows 7 system is set up with a 2600K processor running at 4.5GHz. All three systems use an SSD for the operating system. Any ideas on why the W8.1 systems require 8 seconds to initialize the X4 Macro Software? I don't think there are any options available in the X4 Macro Software that would cause this issue?

I was wrong - it seems that the 8 second delay is somewhat "random" since I experienced it on the W7 System recently and I have had the W8.1 System take less that 2 seconds the first time I hit the Macro Key! So...something is going on in Windows that adversely affects the Macro initialization time? Am I the only person using the Sidewinder X4 Keyboard Macros with this problem?

I think you may need to chose the driver, but there is a "sidewinder auto detect" feature I think..
It still shows installed for me, so I don't remember off hand how it installed..

I know it's in XP pro though.

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Keyboard. The keyboard has a backlight on the keys as it is made for gaming from what I believe.

However everytime I boot my computer the backlight stays on and I have to turn it off by pressing the backlight key 3 times (three times as the keyboard has different dimming settings, bright, less bright, even less bright )

Does anyone know how I can have the backlight turned off forever unless I press the button to activate it?

I assume there must be a setting in the registry telling the keyboard to light up upon boot up?

...don't call Microsoft support without your receipt.

Unless you still have your receipt, you'll either have to settle for getting a much inferior mouse replacement (Sidewinder X3) or nothing at all.

Despite whatever the warranty and refund departments tell you (and you will have to call both), it will eventually loop back to the warranty department, which will tell you, despite earlier assurances that you'll be able to get a market-value refund without a receipt, that you'll need provide your receipt to get any kind of refund.

Otherwise, enjoy your brick of a mouse and Sidewinder X3 replacement.

A:Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick Problems

if your joystick is usb plug n play then it should have found it. if not usb and plugs into a sound card then you will have to load the driver cd. only other thing could be that the usb cable end is bad or the stick itself. you might try a restart but I doubt that would make a difference on usb. bottom line sticks are cheap. Hello, I bought a Sidewinder from PC World about a year ago because I thought it was pretty standard and easy to set up being USB. Back then I connected the game controller to my front USB port and Windows Me detected hardware and began to install it. I then started Rayman 2 and it worked fine (it was the pad that Ubisoft had suggested). It went in my drawer and I hardly played on Rayman 2 again. I bought Windows XP a year ago and now I decided to have a go! I inserted the USB cable into the port and...nothing.

I have played around in control panel but nothing seems to happen, it won't work with Rayman 2 and it doesn't make any sounds when I insert and remove it from the port. I have checked the official sidewinder website but I can't find anything!

Please can someone help me get my Gamepad working! Any replies are extremely appreciated!

I came across an excellent flight simulator (Flight Gear) that makes me want to take the old M/S joystick out of moth balls. Trouble is when I hooked it up, it apparently does not know Windows 7 x64bit from apple butter!
I have a USB adapter that shares a USB2 with a 15 pin game port; so obviously they both function as USB2 ports. The old joystick has a 15 pin plug on it and attaches to this connector, but nothing happens. The machine does not recognize it.
Can this 15 pin game port connection function connected through a USB2 to the Motherboard? Can settings be made to tell the machine that it is there or will the Microsoft sidewinder force feedback joystick just not function in that lash-up?
Trying to load the factory included programs/drivers fails because it will not allow Windows 7 to load them. If this type of connection will not function, is there some kind of a card I could get to make it function? And it that is available how does one go about getting a driver that will function with a W-7 x64bit system.

Force Feedback loses some effects with default driver supplied with vista ultimate 32bit after roughly 2+ effects are applied at once. (it happens in multiple racing games)  I have noticed that it shows steer Left/Right and accelerate as X/Y axis but brake is listed as Z axis.  Shouldn't force feedback be tagged as Z axis?  I have tested the controller with xp and the same games and the controller works fine with the default xp driver.  Sidewinder software wont install on vista so i can't load any different drivers to check if this is the issue.  Note: In the default xp driver it lists left/right/brake/accel. as x/y and z as feedback.  Any ideas?

Hello Tracker,

According to your post, you are now using Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel mouse. This device has no driver for Windows Vista provided by Microsoft. Therefore, some functions may miss, very possibly including the problems you encountered.

"...some threads I've seen have recommended software solutions to get Force Feedback working. Try PPJoy or GlovePIE and let me know if either one helps."

Say It's not so.. (Sidewinder)

I plug mine in and it doesn't do anything. At first it brought up the autorun from the disc and that just gives an error message saying "The version of this file isn't compatibile with the version of windows you are using..." But above he said it installed... what was the difference?

"I was able to calibrate my USB force feedback wheel and it works fine..."

"this solution actually worked for me. running in compability mode for xp service pack 2."

I have tried to run compatability mode but I can't find in the "D" drive properties. Where else would I look?

I could carry on, but can anyone help with a solution that works please?

I suggest you to install the XP driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.
Follow these steps:

2. Now click on the compatibility tab.
3. Under compatibility mode, check “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.
4. From the drop down menu, select Windows XP(service pack 2).
5. Click Apply and then click OK.

Fine in theory, but which file is the installation file?

Hi I'm new here

Ok i got my new Sidewinder X6 keyboard, but have a stupid question.

The keyboard's numpad is removable and i would like to use it instead of the w,a,s,d buttons.

All the numpad buttons is macro buttons as well, thus i want to use the (8) button instead of the w, but if i convert it and run any game the (8) doesn't let me walk forward but only act if i'm pressing (w) once.

I have tried setting the game's options to use Numpad 8 to move forward etc, but when you go in macro mode the whole numpad switch to macro keys thus i cant use them that way.

Any suggestion?

Hello,

I currently have about 30,000 lines of macros. Occasionally the people I work for want an updated list of all the macros in that file (most are user specific) so that they know what macros they have and if then need a different one or edit a current one.

What have been looking for is a way to print the names of the macros only, and not the entire marco file/code.

the first macro looks something like this..

Sub hinj()
'
' hinj Macro
' Dr. H's Corticosteroid Injection
'
Selection.TypeText Text:= _
"DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE"
Selection.TypeParagraph
Selection.TypeText Text:= _
"The patient's * was injected with."
end sub

(cut short for brevity)

then the next macro, and so on and so forth.

What i have been looking for is a way to print a list of the macros but not the macro themselves.

IE.. I wold like it to print out...

hinj Macro
Dr. H's Corticosteroid Injection

hhyal
Dr. H's Hyalgan Macro

hspi
Dr. H's Supartz Macro.

so on and so forth with all 375 macros printed.

Is there a way to do this? I would be most appreciative for any clue as to how to do this.

Hi,

I have a contract (I'm using MS Word 2010 but have a 2003 document) that I need to extract the 'defined terms' from and write to another file. That is to say, the words that are capitalised that are not the first word of a sentence. The entire document needs to be searched.

Sometimes a defined term has more than one word, for example, "Service Measures". In this instance I would ideally like "Service Measures" to be found rather than two results: "Service" and "Measures".

I have found the following wildcard search that finds words that begin with capitals that are not at the start of a sentence however this also returns the two preceding characters of the word:

[!.\!\?] <[A-Z][A-z0-9]{1,}>

However I am not sure how to:
a) export the return of the search to another document (to generate and build a list of defined terms)
b) delete the two preceding characters to just leave the capitalised words
c) run the macro for the entire document
d) edit the macro to group immediately subsequent words together (eg the "Service Measure" example above)

Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Whenever I try to open a saved Word document (or even a PowerPoint), the file doesn't open and I get the following message:

"The file ____ is not available.
You may be encountering this message because an anti-virus program is not allowing the file to open. This can be caused by one of two conditions. Either the anti-virus program needs to be updated (due to a compability problem with this application) or there is a virus in the file but the anti-virus program cannot properly remove or process the virus it has found....etc."

Then when I close the document, I get the following message:
"The file Normal already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"

I've tried deleting the file. I've restarted my computer, deleted "normal.dot" through my computer's search engine, and then opening word. I've tried renaming the file to "normal.old", and followed the instructions after that like I found on a website.
Also, I went to Tools > Macro > Macros and gone to the "Macros in" list, clicked "All active templates and documents", but there weren't any macros listed there.

I tried using the Macro Organizer, and there weren't any macros listed there either.

Many websites suggested that I open the file through MS word and then hold shift before opening it. When I try to open a file, it just says that it isn't available.

Oh, and I'm running on Windows Vista.

Hello All,

I have an issue regarding with one user accessing a Microsoft Excel 2013 Worksheet.  This user was emailed the worksheet and the macro button inside the worksheet will not work.  When she hovers of it, it is unable to be pressed.

The user than sent the worksheet to me to see if I could duplicate the issue the user had.  It opened correctly the way the originally sender intended it to.  I checked the settings within her Excel program to see if they differed from mine and they do not.

Can someone maybe assist me?  If not thanks for taking your time and ready my post.

Thanks ahead of time,
Justin W.

At work, I have created a macro that opens a file from my personal folder, performs some actions to the data in the workbook, and alters the layout. I now want to share this macro with other people.

The problem is the file will not be saved in a central location, and each individual will have to open the file from there own personal folder.

I was thinking of saving a workbook centrally. This workbook when opened, asks the user to open the file themselves, and then do the formatting etc.

Is this the best way to do this?

I was thinking there may be a way to save the macro to each indivduals personal.xls but I wouldnt know where to start with that.

Any ideas?
