Maleware "Driver Support" was DL with Flash player, need help removing

Q: Maleware "Driver Support" was DL with Flash player, need help removing

I installed a new version of flash player and it installed a bunch of unwanted programs.  I was able to remove most but the hardest has been driver support.

Preferred Solution: Maleware "Driver Support" was DL with Flash player, need help removing

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I use Secunia scan to check software for insecure versions. When I performed the thorough scan, it showed that I have Macromedia flashplayer in versions, and old versions. I have used the uninstall_flash_player file to try to get my system clear of all flash players, and none show in Add/Remove. But Secunia says I still have them. I tried to follow the instructions at this site:

There are instructions for manual uninstall, but when I try to follow the instructions, I get a box saying "Windows cannot open the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". I am an Administrator user, so I should be able to access them in regard to security.

The Secunia scan gives these locations for the flash player files:

C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\Musicmatch Jukebox\Setup\Swflash.ocx

C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Flasha.ocx

Can I try to delete these files directly? The instructions at the above link involve going into Run and using regsvr32 plus the file location and file name, to activiate the executable, which I do not understand what is being accomplished in doing that. And I cannot get the file to activate like the instructions say it should.

I really would like to get rid of these traces of old versions, but I don't know how to do this safely. If you can help,... Read more

I had a tough time removing old ActiveX too. Tried the Adobe tool and then used my registry editor to get rid of all references to MacroMedia. I did that because I read something on another forum that said that Macromedia causes a problem with installing the Adobe ActiveX. Don't know if it is true but it worked for me after days of unsuccessful attempts at reinstalling the Adobe ActiveX program.

Apparently, it requires more than removing Adobe ActiveX in order to be able to successully reinstall it.

I wish that I had bookmarked the posting on that other forum so I could remember where I read it but it apparently is an accurate description of the problem.

I haven't had to use it myself, but I would imagine after running the uninstaller, that you would need to install the latest version of Flash Player again.

Lately, it seems to half of the websites I try to access require Flash Player 9. My Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel tells me I have it. But internet sites continue to tell me I need to install it to view site. So I hit install. The infamous gold bar appears at top to say I probably need ActiveX. So I allow it. Again. I get the Install box for Flash 9 and hit Install. Computer churns. Adobe download site says "When you see the installation completion movie above and text below, your installation was successful." I never see the movie. And when I go to a website requiring Flash, it starts all over again that I need Flash Player 9. I've tried removing the current Flash 9 using Add/Remove function, so I can start all over again. But it doesn't work--a black screen flashes as if I'm going to be taken to the remove function, but I'm not. I've even reduced security and privacy settings temporarily to see if this is a problem. No dice. This has become a constant hassle and I'm clueless. And missing some website access! Any clue anybody?

I've been getting notices from my Norton that say it is blocking attacks on my computer recently. I ran scans with Norton, and Malewarebytes, and Norton found nothing while Malewarebytes removed one infection. Since then I am still getting the notices from Norton. I've run multiple scans with no result.
I began looking for solutions based on the IP address and website displayed from Norton and found several posts on various websites leading back to here. Following a post discussion it looks like there was only one final solution from a progrom one of your guys suggested as a final result. Unfortunatly I can't remember the name and Norton cleaned my browsing history the last time I ran a scan so I can't find the original post.
Below I have information regarding one of the attempts that was blocked by Norton. This one seems to be the most frequent with 1-2 other "attacking computers" occasinally being blocked.
Any assistance that could be suggested would be greatly appreciated as this sound like it could end up being serious if not taken care of.

Hey All,I was referred to this forum to post the logs that I was asked to do. A little while ago I noticed Norton mentioning my computer was under attack so I ran scans from Norton as well as Malewarebytes. Maleware got rid of 1 infection, Norton did not find any. After that I've been getting pop-ups saying Norton has blocked an attack. There are a few attacking hosts but the most frequent one is the one in the Topic Title ^. I also have Spywareblaster which a friend recommended awhile back. Other than running the scans all I have done is the general maintenence stuff i.e. Disk cleanup, Defrag, cleaned old installation files etc. Came here off of a google search tag including the website/IP address listed above. We have IE 6. Say a user goes to MSN.com. The ad on the right is a Flash object. Some of our users will see that object flickering when scrolling up or down on the page or when hovering their mouse over it. It's quite annoying. Almost all users are running Adobe Flash Player 9, but I think I've seen this happen on systems with Macromedia Flash Player 8 as well. Other systems don't have the problem. I've seen this happen on one system and not another while both seemed to have the same Flash objects installed.

Uninstalling all Flash players using Adobe's prescribed Flash Player uninstall tool seems to work at first, but users later complain again. Note that they just about always end up installing Flash Player 9 again, because sites ask for it. I don't believe I've seen this on any XP systems at all, including my own, but most of our users have Win2K.

Does anybody know why this happens or how to permanently fix it?

A:Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V.

More info: Adobe Flash Player 9, Macromedia Flash Player 8, and Macromedia Flash Player 10 all produce the same result--Flash objects that flicker when you put your mouse over any part of them. Moving Flash objects will flicker constantly while moving and stop flickering when the animation is done. SWF files (at least the one at www.stormwerks.com/linked/stuf/AYB2.swf) work without a problem when using Adobe Flash Player 9.

If I don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed, the Win2K machines prompt me to install them for almost any site that uses Flash (I guess most recent Flash objects cannot be viewed with the older Macromedia Flash Players).

Any suggestions?

I get a message when viewing certain web pages that I need to install Adobe Flash Player. I install it, restart the browser and/or restart the computer and get the same message again to install Flash Player. The result is the same with IE7, FireFox and Chrome.

I've installed Adobe Flash Player several times. Finally, I found a site from which I could download the installer and run it from my desktop. That didn't help either.

I have disabled antivirus and all internet security programs. I also recently formatted the only partition on the only hard disk, restored the computer to its original factory configuration due to malware infestation. I am certain there is no malware involved. I also enabled scripting in IE7.

A:Installed Flash Player and still getting messages to install Flash Player

Check your current version of Flash, assuming there is one, by going to this page;http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=2 Unless your 'restoration' has left you with a really old version, you may have to run the Adobe uninstaller first (unless you have already!);http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1

This will remove the Flash plugin from every browser you have installed, so you will have to reinstall the Active X version for IE and the non Active X one for the others. These links work for me if I use the relevant browser to d/l them, but if I click on the IE link using Opera, I get the version for Opera;

IE : http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/static/styx/English.html (read the installation instructions carefully)

Firefox, Opera etc.:http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

Hello to all of www.TechGuy.org members!
Please, help me on with solving my problems with Adobe Flash Player
First of all - I have an old computer with Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) with SP2 (the reason, why I don't want to install a SP3, is that my computer is old and it will take half a day); I'm also using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009.
The problems - when I'm finishing installation of FP9, it always ends up with errors of internet explorer (like "send an error to Microsoft or no"); I also can't view Flash content on different sites (what ends up with a same errors)... but, I DO can view YouTube content (videos).
Maybe it's all because of my Anti-Malware protection software, but I'm not sure, if I can configure it correctly. Please, help me on with this one and I will be very thankful for that!
Thank you, guys!
P.S. Just imagine a web browsing without all that flash content (plus - errors with IE7 shut downs)...

A:Flash Player problems! Cant view Flash Player content!

If you uninstalled a version of the Adobe flash plugin with Add/Remove there could be some traces left behind. Adobe provide an uninstaller which you run, reboot and then reinstall the plugin. Have a look here (and note the info for IE users): http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1 (Note that this uninstaller will remove the flash plugin from all browsers installed on the system so, if you have Firefox, Opera or Netscape, you will have to reinstall their version of the plugin as well).

If you don't have it handy, here's the link for the Active X version of the plugin (I think you have to be online while it installs, check the instructions before you start); http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/static/styx/English.html

I uninstalled Adobe Flash with their uninstall tool because I read somewhere you needed to update it because of major security flaw. Since I had no idea what version of player, I just DL their uninstall tool, then DLed their new flash. I used their uninstall tool, and then reinstalled the new Adobe Flash Player. The only PU that came up was that it couldn't install in Opera. A:Adobe Flash uninstall tool,& is there a better/safer flash player w/o the hassles?

The flash player for IE and Firefox is in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. The IE one is called Flash9f.ocx and for Firefox its NPSWF32.dll.

You can view current version, by going to a page with a flash object on the web page, right click on the Flash object and select About Adobe Flash Player 9 and it will take you to Adobe site and display version.
You can also get version from the files about on the Version or Details tab of its properties.

As for removal, just either use the Uninstall tool in the same folder (See above) or delete all the files in the folder to remove it.

I've been having problems listening to music on windows media player and watching flash videos. The playback is choppy (sometimes gets stuck and generally bounces around) but also my system seems to take an age to start up and is slow.

I've run disk-defragmentor, scandisk, spybot, adaware, AVG etc. But no luck.

This has come about since I've put about 20GB of music onto my laptop (I still have around 47GB of 70GB free). However, when Windows Media Player is not open the system still runs slowly and I have no luck running flash videos.

I am in big problem I will go mad soon..the situation is so - my girlfriend always watches previews of housewives at abc http://abc.go.com/primetime/desperate/index.html ; and there you need the newest adobe flash player installed...and so every time she wishes to watch it I must install adobe flash player again and again...and I check if there is something wrong with the web page, so I go to test my adobe schockwave player and adobe flash player there...and every time I see I really dont have this two on my system..so I am doing something very wrong..One day it works and then the next day I must install again..and so on..and on..

After I uninstall and install again everything is fine...It goes on my nerves, cause I many times install also yahoo toolbar with it..and then I have problems uninstalling this toolbar... I must then again install yahoo toolbar and then many times the uninstallation is not ok...and then again install yahoo and uninstall.. soon you will be able to visit me just in mental institution...
I dont know - is there any setting in explorer that deletes this two?...I use also regCure registry cleaner..maybe I really went mad

In short - why is adobe flash and schockwave escaping from my system..am I too ugly!? or I know too little about explorer settings ?

Thanks for your help and time

I have recently been getting a message to update to adobe flashplayer pro to view site and have been also getting a message to update the media player. I looked at the versions  I am running and they are the latest. I was told to do the Adobe while I was navigating to this page just a moment ago. When I am at some sites I have also gotten a box that says my media player is infected and needs to clean files. While in MSN.com home page I have gotten a poor pc performance box that comes up and it is kind of shaking when it appears. I don't know if this is an infection or what but am very wary of this type of stuff after fighting with other infections in the past. I posted this in another forum and was instructed to possibly try this one. Please let me now if you may need more information and I will reply. Thank you for your time and efforts. Jack Perrin.

I finally updated my laptop to Win10 and I'm having troubles with Media Player.

No matter what media file type (.mp3, .mp4, .wmv, etc.) from whatever location (local drive, across home network, thumb drive), WMP won't play it. All I get is that all too familiar error message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play this file. The player might not
support the file type or might not support the codec that was used
to compress the file"

I have looked for codec packs and can't find any. All these files work fine on my Win10 desktop that was also upgraded from Win7 Ultimate. The laptop does play system sounds fine, but that's it.

I have searched the forums but can't find anything and, no, I don't want to download and install VLC Player (a common response I have seen on a lot of the other threads)

Can anyone can help? Thanks.

A:Adobe flash player Adobe flash player active x

Adobe Flash Player has several variants for different operating systems and browsers and is now on version 11.9.  The active-x variant is used with Windows Internet Explorer.  There is another Windows variant for plugin based browsers, such as Firefox.  There are variants for Mac OS X and Linux, although the last version produced for Linux was 11.2.

This is urgent as this leaves me as a customer vulnerable, due to the W10 System of queuing downloads and there is a security one that is waiting.
I have checked directly with Microsoft Technicians and they confirm this is the issue "No Driver support for Aurora R4 Listed, W10  Creators edition. Hi, I recently bought a HP mini 220HD and since the very first day the HP Support Assistant has been nothing but an annoyance and a nuisance. The final straw occured tonight when I was installing an app and the assistant decided that it would run the "tune up" half way through!! It set a restore point, without permission/confirmation and then started to defrag the hard drive... WHILE THE APP WAS INSTALLING!! At other times, it pops up with annoying and useless information, completely interupting what I am doing and in some cases causing full-screen apps to crash and losing information that hasn't been saved etc etc etc. So.. is there a safe way to remove this from my netbook while still retaining the rest of the functionality of Windows 7 Starter and Norton Internet Security (which seems to be integrated into the assistant at some level)?

The newer Windows Media Players have different licensing policies and I encountered loads of problems with files that were already on my computer when I upgraded to WMP9/10. Restore your computer to before you installed Media Player 9/10 and this will allow you to transfer again. There are plenty of better players than WMP; ITunes 7 with it's "cover-flow" feature is awesome and it can be configured to up/download to any MP3 player as well. It uses the Quicktime player instead of WMP though.

Customer Support:For my current PC functional problems, I need help with resolving what appears to be an inconsistency with the available 8.1- and Win 10-related driver/utilities updates that are shown as "Recommended" for my PCs on Lenovo's "Driver & Support" site. Here's why. I purchased two (2) Yoga 2 11" Laptops, Type 80CX, Pentium Quad Core N3520 CPU, BIOS 92CN35WW Baytrail-M with Win 8.1 installed. At some point, the first of two problems showed up: the Airplane Mode On/Off (F7 Key) quit working on both PCs, presumably due to Win 8.1 updates/patches. But, I lived with it as the Mode could be switched by alternate means. Next I decided to take advantage of the free Win 10 update offer, but decided to upgrade just one of the PCs - so now I have one Win 8.1 and one Win 10 PC. Eventually, the second of the two problems showed up, but on just the Win 10 PC, again presumably due to Win 10 updates: the keyboard and pointer would quit working during use in the "Notebook" mode - one of the four operating modes, the other three being Stand, Tent, and Tablet Modes. I could temporarily fix this by reboots. This I could not live with, so I began searching for solutions. Using the Lenovo Drivers & Software site, I selected certain PC updates that I believed to be pertinent to this problem as well as some additonal updates that could be important and depend on the other updates to fix the problem. On this Win 10 PC, I installed 1) BIOS Baytrail-M update 92CN93WW.exe, 2) Yoga M... Read more

The time came to break out my personal emergency Thinkpad and install drivers and get it up & running. I was going to look for the Driver-Install-Order (for Win7 Pro x64) but could no longer find them here. HELP?Lenovo's site now acts as if the W500 and T500 do not exist.Systems removed - is yours next? And, it does not recognize my Product ID (4063AQ2) nor my Serial #. LSB installed an old version of .NET framework 4.5 (instead of the current 4.71) and then failed to work.Even the Serial # is invalid now!The site also wanted to install something called "TVSU" (with no explanation as to what it is or does). Fine, but it does nothing. When I went to manually look for older systems, the support site simply doesn't list them.I could not even find System Update because I could not ID my system to the site!My old messages here are gone but for system-created msgs regarding my "level" (Ctrl-Alt-Del). And once again, the forums have been changed and made less useful than they were the last two or three overhauls. Can some Thinkpad W500 owner tell me what the heck is going on? Where are the dowloads and Utils? Where is System Update? I sincerely hope a Lenovo rep will also explain why systems are not even listed, and serial and product #'s are not found. Why would my company (or any campus or company) ever buy another Lenovo if you make support vanish?

I cleaned a laptop of a friend, and I'm kind of stumped... she has a laptop with Windows 8.1 and she's mainly using Chrome as browser. A week ago she started noticing strange things on her pc. Ads are replaced by other ads, usually even in french. Her pc is slowing down a lot. I'm pretty good with computers so I cleaned her laptop... in safe mode with in order Spybot Search&Destroy, Adaware, Malwarebytes, AdwClean, and Spyhunter (she bought the last one, not my choice).
Nothing came up except for some toolbars. The ads still remained. I checked some more... malware seems to be this http://malwaretips.com/blogs/advertising-support-removal/ ... the ads that are replaced contain the tag below the ad "Ads by Ad Browser", if you click on that you go to "advertising-support.com". I don't find a strange program installed in programs&features, except "YoutubeDownloader HD", which I uninstalled.
In Chrome extensions they installed an extension that seems to control the replacing of the ads.... something with "Ad Browser", if I delete that one it gets reinstalled, if I disable it, the ad replacements goes away but the laptop is still slower than usual. And after a day or 2 the extension enables itself again.
I have access to her pc a couple of times a week, but I can ask her to run stuff and send logs.
Any advice.

If you go to the usb device properties in "my computer", there is an option to "Optimize for quick removal" so you can pull the usb flash drive out whenever you want, without using "safely remove hardware" tab.

But is that setting set on the usb flash drive or on the computer? because if it's set on the usb flash drive itself, then you can pull it out from every computer that way, but if it's set on the computer, then it depends on the computer's settings.
