I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I was wondering why when I installed my 160 GB HDD my keyboard was a little high on that side. Am I using the wrong HDD? Also when I put the drive in I can't put it straight in I have to lift it a little in the sky then it'll go in. First time adding hard drive in any laptop. Thanks for the replies in advance.

I have S340-15API with Atheros 802.11ac 1x1 (qca9377). This is a very lousy adapter for sensitivity and speed. If you are sitting in 3-4m for direct line of sight to router, the speed is still acceptable, but if you take the laptop to 6-7m, sitting behind the non-capital wall of the house, then the speed drops to the infamous 35-60Mbit/s. At the same time, a laptop with Intel 9560 2x2 surely shows 180Mbit/s+ in the same place. With QCA9377 is impossible to watch a movie from the NAS in same places, the picture constantly freezes for 1080p movies (10-35Mbit/s bitrate).  Moreover, the reviews of stores and forums are full of similar negative remarks on the occasion of QCA9377, that is, clearly this is not a problem specifically for my adapter copy, but an architectural bugs of the adapters of this series Qualcomm as a whole (or not correct design by Lenovo for S340). Because people already many times changed this Atheros 1x1 to Intel 3165 (9462) also with 1x1, they write that after replacing Qualcomm chip for Intel chips speed and stability of the wi-fi improved significantly. I do not want to change it to Intel 1x1, because my router supports 802.11ac 3x3 MU-MIMO for many years. And Intel 9560 2x2 is very good in my other laptop, as I wrote above. I do not understand why Lenovo puts such a miserable adapter (with QCA9377) on laptops. which can not be used even behind the wall from the router. And in addition to a series of laptops that do not have a cable connection ... Read more

If you have a SATA 2.5" SSD in your notebook - you can add an M.2 PCI Express NvMe driveIf you have an M.2 drive, you can add a 2.5" SATA drive (mechanical HDD or SSD) as long as height conforms to specs My Ideapad S340-15IWL came with a 256gb NvMe drive (gen 2 I think). I immediately added a 512gb sata SSD and had 2 drives. There was nothing extra I needed to buy as the empty slot for the 2.5" drive had the mounting kit empty already in the machine. Couple weeks ago, I bought an Intel 660p M.2 2TB NvMe drive, wanting to use it in an older Win7 desktop to replace a Samsung 970EVO 512gb M.2 drive. Basically, can use Samsung M.2 in Win7 as a boot drive pretty easily, but found it nearly impossible to do with an Intel drive (Win7 doesn't have the pre-GUI drivers needed to bootup from the drive). So, decided to replace both the 2.5" SSD I added to the Ideapad and the original Lenovo-supplied M.2 drive with the Intel 2TB M.2 drive. Using a Qnime NvMe USB enclosure (temporarily put the Intel drive in it and connect to Ideapad USB port), boot the Lenovo with a G4L (Ghost for Linux) bootable USB drive, and clone the internal Lenovo M.2 drive to the Intel M.2 with G4L's Click'nClone. When the clone was done, shut down, and then removed the bottom cover from the Lenovo, and disconnected the battery from the motherboard. Removed the Lenovo-supplied 256gb M.2 (which has both M and B keys and is a 2240 form factor) and put in the Intel 2TB M.2 (which has only... Hello! I have an Ideapad S340-15IWL with a 256gb ssd.I want to add another hard drive. Can I add another SSD or  can I only add an HDD? ( the platform specification sheet seems to infer that can only add HDD)Is there any instructions or videos on how I would physically add a hard drive to this exact model?I have found a hardware maintenance manual that explains how to remove parts but not how to add parts.Do I need any extra connectors or converters? Is there anything else I should know about picking out the hard drive besides what the platform specification sheet says? This is what the Platform Specifications says:Storage:  Up to 2 drives (one HDD and one M.2 SSD): ? HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high, 5400rpm ? M.2 2242 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 2, 16Gb/s ? M.2 2280 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 4, 32Gb/s ? M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s (e.g. xxxGB SSD M.2 I can usually find this information, but I'm having trouble with this model. Thanks for any help!

A:Hard Drive questions for Ideapad S340-15IWL!

Assuming hat your system currently has a M.2 SSD installed, you could add a 2.5" x 7mm SATA SSD as a storage drive, but the system only has one M.2 SSD slot available.     The HDD requires a bracket to secure it (FRU/part number: 5B40U61561). but I cannot find a source for that bracket online, so you may have to MacGyver a way to secure it.  The bracket is shown on page 43 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual and in the image belowClick on above image to expand Cheers,

Hello, I just received my S340 15" Touch laptop and I found an issue:  When Laptop is in open position and screen is angled more that 60 degrees, when closing laption I hear clicking noise which comes from the left part of the joint. I see there are 3 wires inside and one wire (in the middle) hooks to something inside, when closing the laptopn (move the screen down) that wire is fixed somehwere inside and seemed pulling and then slides of - clicking noise pops out in that moment and its loud. It seems to me that after a long period of use that wire can be damaged beacuse it rubs every time and can be cut, i am affraid. I am going to replace the laptop now. Is it a rare issue? Is there any chance I get same issue with a replaced laptop? Are those wires resposible for the touchscreen function? Thank you.  Thanks.

I have a Lenovo g500s touch laptop with Windows 8 that is not able to boot. The error message occurs very early in the startup process says ?Your PC needs to be repaired. The application or OS couldn?t be loaded because a required file is missing or contain errors.  File: \windows\system32\winload.efi. Error code 0xc000000f. You need to use recovery tools on your installation media. ?When trying to use OneKey recovery from the initial image, the recovery seems to start with the progress eye bouncing back & forth for about the 30 seconds.  Then the status = Intializing, the current file is blank, speed = 0 Bytes/Minute, Time elapsed continues to increase, Time remaining is blank and the status bar is blank with 0%.  I have let this run for many hours and it does not change. Booting via a USB recovery drive seems to indicate the hard drive is correctly working.  From a command window bootrec/fixmbr = successful; bootrec/fixboot = successful;  bootrec/scanOS says 0 windows installations found; bootrec/rebuildbcd also says 0 windows installations found.Any suggestions to fix this problem?

So here are some questions:
_1) What is the propery way to use my One Touch?
__a) I must always use it standing up with a stand?
__b) I could use it standing up, or laying down, doesn't matter even if the ____Disk's are verticle or parrallel to gravity?

_2) How do I properly turn off the External Hard Drive?
__a) Safely Remove Plug and Play?
__b) Or I could just press the off button?
__c) dont do ANYTHING ur hard drive will die, just turn off computer then ____turn off the drive?

_3) How come everytime I add and remove data, copy and paste, and I wait a few seconds to make sure the drive isn't active, I can't safely remove hardware?

4) Is it better to keep the external hard drive on all day? or turn it off after each use? what happens if I keep on turning it on and off because I keep on saving backup data every 2 hours?

Thanks, for any help I can get man.

A:How do I use my Maxtor One Touch External Hard Drive Properly?

If you copy data data to it regularly leave it on.
If you only use it once a day, just turn it on then turn it off.

Use the "Safely Remove" hardware icon,or
if it`s got a power switch use that.

It will work vertically and horizontally.

Don`t bang it,or submerse it in boiling acid.

I'm planning on selling my laptop and buying a new desktop. the problem is, my family and I travel a lot, and I don't want to bring my desktop with me, and my video library won't fit onto my 32GB ipod touch, so I figured i could get an external hard drive and store my movies on there for travel. I use an RCA (if that't what the yellow, white, and red wires are) cable to connect my ipod to whatever tv i want to watch my movies on, so I was just wondering if I could back up my video library onto the external hard drive, and then connect that to the tv directly to play the videos off that, or connect it to my ipod and change which movies i want to sync in order to fit the movie I want to watch on the ipod. Any suggestions?

When you plug it in do you hear the "USB Tone" that indicates new hardware found?

Have you tried different USB cables?

Have you thought about exchanging it for a new one?

Few years back we bought a Lenovo IdeaPad S510P.  The hard drive failed and I had to get a new one for it.  Problem is I didn't make backup disk for the computer and I can't remember but don't think we got windows disk with it.  If we did we've misplaced them.  How do I go about getting this new hardrive formatted and the computer up and running again?  Will Lenovo allow me to download a replacement if I suppy serial number?  Will they mail me disk?  It came with windows 8.  If I do get that am I able to switch to 7 or 10 at no cost?  I'm also unclear on how this would be done.  I'm assuming if downloading I would have to make some kind of bootable thumb drive?  Any suggestions and links that would be helpful would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance

Hi rbboom,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

WIth an active warranty  then calling technical support would definitely send you some recovery disc or bootable drive. You can also check using your serial number here if your machine qualifies for the free recovery media download.

If you availed of the free upgrade from Microsoft from Win 8 to Win 10 or your machine have a Windows 7 downgrade rights from the original purchase then you can switch to that version at no cost else you have to purchase a product key from Microsoft.

A clean WIndows 8 image is free here to download and it would automatically activate as long as you use the same version of Windows that came with your machine. Drivers are also free here on the support website.

I hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how it goes best for you.

When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

Hello, I have some issues with my c540 all in one touch. A couple weeks ago, I noticed a burning smell coming from inside the pc, and then a little smoke. There was also a clicking sound from the speakers after I turned it on. Of course I turned it off, and unplugged it all. I did some research then on my other pc, and found that this was/is an ongoing issue within this particular pc. Isn't anything being done about this, to ensure people don't end up being killed? Luckily, I caught it in time, and was able to purchase another sata cable on ebay, but I shouldn't have had to do that. What if I wasn't home? The whole house could have burned down, and our pets would have been here!! Again, I bought another sata cable, but I'm really on edge, fearing it will happen again.  I also have another question - where can I find a list of parts that are compatible with this all in one? I want to replace the ethernet card, if possible, as it's not very good, neither is the wifi. I would like to have someone within lenovo comment on the burned cable issue, and please don't say you don't know anything about it, it is apparently a huge and widespread issue. You can see the melted bit. This all happened after only being on for about 1-2 minutes.?This is the burned part on the internal metal casing near the MB. I scraped it, to see how bad it was.?

A:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.
Regards

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more

A:Lenovo Z51 - Which Hard Drive Caddy would work to replace DVD Drive?

Any updates? Did it work? I got a 'universal' caddy, but it does not get detected on my Z51. Works on my hp though.
