I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I had exactly same problem here. I was change my bios with the modded one and after that changed some settings like yours graphics, ram size etc. There is only blank screen now and keyboard leds on, god knows I tried everything, tried to flash bios from USB, tried every combinations of bios file and recovery file names nothing happened, maybe I did irreversible damage to the motherboard, last thing I am going to replace bios chip and see, fingercrosed.

Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro S/N YB03851970i7, 8GB, 256GB SSDWindows 10 Similar to another poster here, I experienced a BSOD, then on restart no drive was detected. Checked the connection and confirmed that the drive was firmly seated. A few threads online indicated that switching BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy Support had worked for some people, however this was not the case in my situation. After figuring out the ssd part number using this tool: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/ibasepartslookup I checked prices and found that an exact replacement was a bit on the pricey side for an mSATA drive. I found a faster unit for almost half the price through Crucial: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX200-250GB-mSATA-Internal/dp/B00RQA6LFA Upon receiving the replacement drive I referred to these instructions for replacing the unit: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Lenovo+Yoga+2+Pro+SSD+Replacement/52424 Note that the fasteners on the bottom of the laptop are not Phillips #00 as indicated in that article, but are in fact Torx T5. If you're a normal person and don't have a bit that size, a good high quality option is Wiha: https://www.amazon.com/Wiha-75985-Handle-Storage-MicroBit/dp/B00XIPTG4A Get yourself a bootable USB (search Microsoft support), and you'll be on your way. Hope this will be helpful to someone else who runs into the same issue. Cheers!

Hi plorengo, welcome to the forums,

I would like to suggest that you contact support once more, and again request a fix under warranty, if on this occasion you also receive no satisfaction you should then simply state that you are not satisfied and wish to register a complaint, the CSR will be able to do this for you.

Please ensure that you note the name of the CSR you speak to and also request a call number, the call number will possibly be of help at a later date.

Please also see the following post from Mark_Lenovo;

Please give it another go yourself before contacting Mark and please let us know how you get on.

Computer failed during upgrade of bios. I have followed all the steps to recover bios: taken out battery, pressed windows + B + power, restore screen appears. Computer goes thru bios restore process and verification. When it gets to the 'count down to windows start up' and 'continue to restart button', the computer freezes and does not restart. I have pressed the continue button, nothing. I have let the count down continue and it stops at 1 then nothing.

Did that, and now I can't boot the computer.  Tried pressing F1 after pressing start button, no help. Can't enter BIOS, still stuck at lenovo screen. Also tried Ctrl+Alt+Del on that screen, blacks out then stuck at lenovo screen again.  Please help and inform, thanks!!! James

To make a long story short, I've been asked to help fix a friends mom's U410 laptop which wasnt activiting Windows 8.1 properly (Was Windows 8 OOB). After struggling with the activation for a few hours, I backed up the data and decided to just run the Lenovo one key recovery. During the recovery process, the installation had failed. When I attemped to reboot, no Lenovo splash screen was loading - just a black screen (although i can hear the cooling fan start, and hear the harddrive spin up. I tried to access the boot menu thru the novo button, and nothing would load; still a black screen. After researching for a few more hours, I had found multiple threads about bios updates required to be able to access bios with windows 8, and other threads about gpus on these units booting to a second screen (which i did test, and the second monitor does indicate a signal). None of the solutions on those threads have given positive results.   Basically, I've run out of options and am looking for some suggestions. The only thing that shows up on the display at anytime is the small blue novo menu when the button is pressed (normal start up, bios setup, boot menu, system recovery - all of which just leave a black screen). Thanks.

My harddrive recently failed and it cannot be recovered. However, now that the harddrive has failed, I can't put any harddrive or ssd in there even if they have working OS' installed. I even tried various OS' with bootable USB's. Freedos is the only OS that seems to run via USB.  I went through the hp support video: "How to update BIOS when windows does not run" but don't have the "Firmware Patching" option is not available as my update utility version is 3.3.7 rather than the 5.something version featured in the video. The exe provided(SP52604.exe) is... well and EXE! I need an iso or bin or something for freedos 1.0 to run it. I have tried using Freedos 1.1 which should run exe's however, I cannot find a bootable image of freedos 1.1 to put on usb.  What else can I do to flash the bios?

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

A few days ago I had some problems with my HDD so I brought a new one.  To install Windows in the new drive I plugged in the DVD drive that Lenovo ships with the laptop and tried to boot from it. That failed and BIOS got like "programmed" or stuck with configurations that doesn't let it recognise any boot media no matter if it is a USB stick or HDD, no matter if I try to change the configuration of the BIOS it would always get back to the initial state of not being able to boot I even tried to reset it by unplugging its battery and the laptop battery but the only thing that happens is system time starting from 0 while any other configuration stays the same.  I thought this could be fixed using crisis recovery mode, but the laptop doesn't recognise the BIOS loaded on the USB and never make any sort of beep or alert noises, the screen doesn't show anything either and fans just get to 100% I really need help to solve this problem, it's like the BIOS got stuck in the last configurations before plugging the DVD drive in. (The Boot menu still showing that there's a USB booteable device even when it is not plugged in).

Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost £255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

my guess is that your cmos battery died and it wants you to set day/time.  There is no backdoor password.  The choices are remember the PW or replace the motherboard.

To whom this may concern: Approximately November of 2016, the GPU on my 2015-model lenovo y40-80 (with an AMD 275X GPU) failed due to excessive fan vibration; the system no longer recognized the device, and the device itself refused to output to the screen properly. When attempts were made to run any visual program on the device using the AMD card, the application would automatically crash. Upon restart, the display would remain black, or would be shot through with black lines. I have a replacement fan unit, but have not yet installed it due to the difficulty of doing so.  Since the warranty on this machine has already expired, I was wondering if I might be able to get an estimate on what the cost-of-replacement and repair would be for the onboard GPU/mainboard so that I can get this machine running again in a relatively pristine state.Regards, Firemagnet.

The battery for my Lenovo ideapad 300 ? 15ISK has shown gradual degeneration and after less than a year it failed completely (battery report at the bottom). I?m deeply disappointed in Lenovo?s response to this. Initially they asked for having it in for repair, which in my case and I assume many others, is completely unacceptable. Being without a PC is extremely difficult and sending it away for a trivial issue like a battery replacement is unacceptable. But that was only the start of it, I checked Lenovo website and could not locate a replacement battery. Hence, I contacted Lenovo by phone but surprisingly I was told that the battery could not be sourced by Lenovo and I was recommended PC world or Amazon, neither have the correct battery in stock as it turned out.A lot of battery suppliers are listed on Google but most of them has very limited description and it seems very easy to end up with the wrong battery. I contacted Lenovo through Twitter asking for some assistance, but after several tweets explaining the issue, Lenovo vent quiet(!). A couple of weeks later I tried again, but with the same abysmal result. So, at the end, I gave up and ordered what hopefully is the right battery. Sadly, after Twitting Lenovo that I gave them up, they came back with the requested information?Lenovo is extremely good at promoting themselves, but be aware the equipment might not be up to scratch and their customer support is certainly not, not on their website, not on the phone, no... A:Lenovo G70-80 - PXE - E61: Media test failure

Hi Vlatka1234 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Message means it failed to detect the device like harddrive from where it should continue the process of booting to the operating system.

"PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable  PXE - M0F: Exiting PXE ROM"

Try in initially checking the BIOS if the harddrive is visible then reset the BIOS default if needed .
Turning on the machine using the Novo Key (item 2 page 78).

Reseating the harddrive  (removing and then placing back making sure that the connections are good) can also help.
Else, having the drive replaced or tested with aa known good working drive can isolate the issue further.

Update us how things go.

The keyboard seems to be working: I can change the keyboard lighting and the caps lock lights can turn off and on. Has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, were you able to fix it? Every reply is welcome!Tjon

I started having several seemingly hardware-related issues with my Lenovo Y700 yesterday, and they all started within 24 hours of each other.  It started when the stock hard drive (1TB 5400RPM) began winding up really fast, then clicking and slowing back down about every five to ten seconds.  Then the laptop shut off later last night, and when I tried to turn it back on, it would lag at the Lenovo load screen, shut off, then try to boot itself back up.  This eventualy brought the laptop into the automated diagnostic mode.  I attempted a system restore from a few days prior, but I got the following error: "System Restore did not complete successfully.  Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details:System Restore failed to extract the file (C:\Windows\InfusedApps\Packages\Microsoft.SkypeApp_11.4.86.0_x64__kzf8qxf38zfrom the restore point. The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore. You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point.  If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recover method." I don't know what the failed file is, as I don't have Skype installed on my computer (unless it came pre-installed). A second attempt a System Restore a few minutes later (from the same restore point) was successful, and the computer ran fine for a few hours until the hard drive started clicking again.  Shortly after, the computer shut down agai... Hello everyone, after installing the latest AMD software for the Lenovo G510 (although I had not restartet for some while, don't really know if this was really the cause) and a subsequent restart, all browsers (Ff, IE, Chrome, Opera) failed to load any pages on the internet. Outlook too did not connect with the internet. After resetting the driver for the WIFI adapter (Broadcom) and after another restart I noticed that Outlook was able to get a connection and receive emails for about 10 seconds after system startup, but afterwards the connection was lost again, This led me to believe, that a program or service, which is started only few seconds after startup, is responsible for the loss of connection. I looked through the processes and services that were active, but could not identify any cause.Since I did not experience this before and could not find any help on the issue after some research I thought maybe someone on the lenovo forum had the same issue or knows how to solve the problem/ or knows of a workaround. In the meantime I tried to roll back/reinstall/update drivers for the Intel onboard VGA graphics, the AMD graphics and the network (WLAN) controller, all of which did not fix the problem. In addition I tried if to an ipconfig reset or DNS flush etc (netsh and ipconfig commands) would help, but it didn't. I also skimmed through the adapter configurations but could not find anything "suspicious". Best regards and thank you in advance!

Hi all, not sure if I'll get a response to this but thought it was worth a try. So for all intents and purposes, I have buggered my g50-70. its out of warranty so I don't have much chance of repair. Essentially the harddrive was starting to flake out and reset at the slightest nudge or minor movement on my lap, and the other night it did it for the umpteenth time and I finally lost my rag. I closed the lid hard and since then, the laptop won't boot up and complains that the "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed" and I therefore cannot load it up etc I was going to buy a new HDD and try to set it up fresh using drivers etc but the laptop came with windows 8 and upgraded to windows 10 for free, so what can I do in this situation? do I have to buy a windows license again? Can I install the operating system from scratch? Or is there a way to recover my operating system if the hdd fails? Bearing in mind that I don't know when I last did any kind of backup etc Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Hello fellow Lenovo users, i will start by saying having been a Lenovo brand user since my X41 in 2006 and having purchased over 8 laptops from the brand based on the rich experiences i have had over the years i am really disapointed at my Y510p i purchased a few years ago. After ownership of 6months i started to notice the screen would flicker as stated by hundreds of other owners.(just type Y510p screen flicker into youtube and see for yourself) I am sure this issue is not new to you  and there are many posts about this. After contact with customer services who constantly tell me it is driver/software related, which it clearly is not i would like to ask why such a prestigious brand such as Lenovo will not admit that this model was shipped with a design fault? I understand that there would be expense involved but after being an avid fan of Lenovo for over 15 years and having purchased over 13 products from tablets for my kids to phones for my wife and the new laptop i buy every 2 years for work, this is small fry. I can never buy another machine from you again now as i have lost all faith in your design/testing and the lack of willingness to accept liability when so many units have the issue makes me sad. This has become a bit of a rant, which i know is not what he forum is about but i feel people should know all the details about a company ethos before they spend their hard earned money on a sub standard machine. I am unable to re-install windows because no recovery disks came with the computer, and the Windows media creation tool simply tells me "The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options." Furthermore, I am told by Lenovo support that I would need to pay $45 additional for recovery disks. I find this highly disingenuous, and never would have purchased a laptop computer from Lenovo in the first place had I known this was the case. I have an existing product key, and should be able to use this to restore my system. This is very distasteful. There is no way around this?

I am unable to re-install windows because no recovery disks came with the computer, and the Windows media creation tool simply tells me "The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options." Furthermore, I am told by Lenovo support that I would need to pay $45 additional for recovery disks. I find this highly disingenuous, and never would have purchased a laptop computer from Lenovo in the first place had I known this was the case. I have an existing product key, and should be able to use this to restore my system. This is very distasteful. There is no way around this?

Hello I'm having a lot of trouble with the screen of my lenovo flex 3.Seems like every time (or almost every time) i try to pick it up, move it or flip it into tablet mode, the screen fails and i have a black screen with white lines crossing. I have to restart the pc (the hard way), therefore losing everything i was doing before this event.I bought this computer 1 year ago but I'm not a big computer user, i use it probably once a week or less, but it still seems like im using an old computer that can fail at any moment.Just to clarify, this computer never had any kind of "accident", never fell or never had any kind of bump. I dont move it from my home and its never been on a backpack. What can i do, or what can you do for fixing this computer? I hope you can help solve this problem. Thanks.

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the proper place to ask this. I ran a hardware scan using the Lenovo Vantage app and it says to follow the instructions on the results page to properly get support for this issue. There are just no instructions however. If I can get support for my issue on this post, I will post there error code or the file here. Here are my computer's specs just in case. Lenovo Y500Windows 10Processor: Intel i7-3630QM @ 2.4GHzRAM: 16GBGPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 750M (2)

Lately, computer acting strange. Had problem before, recovered computer. Worked fine. Now once in a while, while in a program(not always the same program) the computer will go black and net bios problem occurs. Says system net bios failed and you need to insert disk. This is not on startup, mostly during running of the system. I made a recovery disk on floppy but it doesn't work. Do not want to recover again cause the last time I did a non-destructive recovery it might as well of been a total recovery. The info told me a non-destructive recovery just replaces windows files, does not remove other files installed on computer. Bull, lost everything and had to reinstall it all. Computer is 5 yrs old now. Hard drive replaced last year.Any ideas on how to check Bios settings. Am not very computer savy so anything you send will have to be written easily to read. Same things on computer except for Kaspersky internet security. Had problem before installing Kaspersky, thought maybe Norton was the problem, guess not. Ran PC doctor, everything checks out good. It did run scandsk on one of the tries and it said on disk, 35524 thru 35527 were unreadable. Also it deleted index $0 of file 25 and reinstalled it same place. Computer did start up after that but only after 2 tries. Info on computer above in icon. Any help would be appreciated. Just ran scan dsk again on startup and nothing was found. Scan dsk gave a clear scan, nothing missing or reinstalled. Afraid to shut off computer, so... Read more

I have a Dell Dimension 9100 Desktop. I updated bios today. I downloaded the latest one from Dell.com. Well i started it and it restarted my computer but first a blue screen came up saying something about BIOS. Then it turned back on and started making grinding noises. It continued doing that for about 10-15 mineuts and shutoff. I turned it back on and it started making whirring sounds followed by 6 beeps coming from inside my computer. The BIOS update failed and it wont even show anything on the moniter. Before returining it for repair i want to know is there any other way to fix this?

A:Bios Failure

If a failure occured while flashing the BIOS, then your system is hosed.

However, I don't know why something like that would cause noises you describe. You may have some other hardware failure. The multiple beeps, you need to find out what this means, by finding out by the manufacturers website, or the bios website, depending on what BIOS you are using. Sounds like the computer is not making it through the POST.

Motherboard : Viking3 P5mvp3

Basically what has happened is that the bios update did not work and crashed midway through the update. I left it for a day just to make sure it was done.

Now when the computer boots up I get a blank screen and a couple of high pitched beeps followed by a couple of low pitched ones. Then it tries to initialize the a:.

If someone could help me get out of this jam it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Only thing I can say is try clearing the cmos and resetting to defaults using the jumper or pull the battery out.

Hi all. After replacing a dead cpu fan (spotted after "Warning - cpu fan failure detected" message flashed on screen), I am still getting this message at boot up. The fan (3 pin) is running fine. There is no option on screen to access the bios to investigate further and I've tried every permutation of F1, F2, Esc, Del etc etc.. Have reset bios by removing the 3volt battery and also resetting the jumper. The computer will not go beyond this warning page. Any advice on what to do next?

A:cpu fan failure and bios

Does the fan have 2 wires on it or 3.
A 2 wire fan won't have RPM sensing that the motherboard needs.
Might check the motherboard manual to see if there might be a jumper
on the board to bypass the warning, but it is kind of unusuall that
it won't let you access the bios at all.
Usually the setting to disable the warning is in the bios.

Hi, Recently I bought my lenovo 700-15ISK with one of the highest configuration (i7, 16GB RAM) and windows 7.I have huge problem with this computer - it crash 2-3 times per day. When it occure nothing is responding (dislay show some artifacts, noise on audio output) - I'm only able to reset computer by holding power button. It's really annoying because there are days when it doesn't appear and I can't find any common factor of all of this crashes. I'm wondering if I should return computer to seller but I can't afford for delay in my work and I'm trying to figure out what will eliminate or "hide" this problem. Can someone observed similar issue? Maybe this is some driver fault (report  from lenovo solution center attached)?Thans for any sugestions. Regards,Thomas

Ideapad Z560, Model 0914, Win7 home premium..  Hard drive started acting up until it got to a point it would not run.  Ran chkdsk and some other utilities, many bad sectors, could nto even access the recovery partition.  Cought a new drive, but I cannot find any restore media downloads or any alternatives from Lenovo other than the one click restore.  SOmeone please tell me I can download a bootable recovery media for cdrom, USB or DVD.  I may be able to if I can find the right "57" number, but I can't find that either.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Even tried downloading MS win7 media, but it was not allowed since the key if for and OA (OEM) install. thanks! -m

My laptop was working wonderful when I noticed a barely visible vertical line appear in the background off an on.  Within about a week, the entired screen developed both horizontal and vertical lines that cover the entire screen off and on.  The screen now mostly remains blurred with a few seconds of the regular screen off and on.  The screen still responds to touch and works fine when attached to another screen.  There is no damage to the laptop?   Geek Squad believes the graphic card is bad.  I bought this comuter 02/19/2015 and this issue began 06/10/16.  Just a few months out of warranty.  I am waiting to see what Lenovo can do for me now if anything.  I was told that Lenovo computers are amongst the best and I may have purchased a lemon.
