All sorts of fun problems with the Radeon 9200se

Q: All sorts of fun problems with the Radeon 9200se

Ok, so here it goes:

I installed a new motherboard (Abit KW7 Socket 462, w/ Via chipset) and now im having problems with the video card.(Radeon 9200se) When I first installed the new mobo, everything was fine. I installed Call of Duty and when the game loaded, i could move around for about 30 seconds before I would get some "VRU has recovered you display" messeage, or something like that. (by the way, what is VRU?) Then I loaded up Star Wars Battlefront and I got a message saying that OpenGL could not be opened. THEN, when my screen saver came on, it said, "could not find any compatible Direct3D devices". Now, all these things worked before, so theres no reason for it not to work now. just to be sure tho, i updated the drivers but then i had even more trouble. The ATI control center would not load up and gave me a long crazy error msg at startup.

My main question is, why did everything work for a little bit, then just stop working in the middle of a game? If it would help, call of duty gave me a technical log of why the game did not load. i could copy and paste it on a later post if it would help.

Preferred Solution: All sorts of fun problems with the Radeon 9200se

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

When I run a full screen aplication and close or ALT TAB out of it my screen resets to its default color/brightness/gamma settings. Since my monitor is old and crappy I have to have the gamma up a little bit to be a decent brightness. To fix it all I have to do is go to Advanced monitor settings, then click on the Color tab where the gamma/brightness/contrast settings are and it sets back to the way I like it, dont even have to adjust anything. But I have to do this everytime I quit a full screen application.

A:ATi Radeon 9200se Problems

i dont have a solution, it just sounds like a quirk, since the card is a rather older model that may just be a little quirky thing that happens.

somethings seem to do that some times

of course you can always see if you can find some newer drivers.

I bought a brand new Radeon9200SE AGP 8x 64MB DDR w/ TV out video card about a month ago, and I just decided to get some games. The problem is, whenever I try to play a game, it just freezes up after like a couple minutes of playing. I have downloaded the newest video card drivers, the newest directx, and all the windows updates. I have tested my ram with Memtest 86+ v1.65 and found no errors. I have tried changing almost every setting in the display properties in the control panel, and it always freezes up. I tried it in 32bit and in 16bit, no difference. Now this is where the weird part comes in, lol ... These following games have froze when I tried to play them, they are all 3d games:

World Championship Pool 2004
GTA San Andreas
GTA Vice City
The Simpson's Hit and Run

Now here are the following games/other software that DOESNT freeze:

Any movie (mpg, avi, wmv, etc)
Visualations in WMP and Winamp
World Series of Poker Game

Now I'm wondering and confused on how the poker game works perfectly and doesnt freeze at all and the other games freeze. All these games are in 3d, even the poker game.

Does ANYONE know how I can fix this, and why this is doing this? I really want to use this video card. It's really good and the games are surprisingly fast, before it freezes. I have tried everything I can think of. The video card is a 8x and the motherboard is a 4x, does that have anything to do with it? I don't know how to change i... Read more

No idea what's happening with the graphics card...

Everything runs fine without the drivers installed, but obviously to game on the system I need to have the drivers installed...

I install the drivers and I'm left with...

Now I've upgraded from SP1 to SP2 to see if it made any difference but it hasn't, and right now it's all wearing a little thin... the drivers are the latest RADEON drivers from the ATI site... I've installed and reinstalled a number of times but no difference, and further to that they have been installed on this system before prior to a format and a fresh installation of XP and given no cause for concern...

I recently upgraded my motherboard, vid card, ram, and cpu. After some other problems i had to get a new PSU as well. My computer crashes at random times in windows(many different kinds of stop errors) and always when i go to play NHL 2002, as soon as the actual hockey starts(past the options and stuff). I know its my video card because if i put my old 3dfx voodoo 3, i have no problems at all. I've tried the drivers that came on the CD version 4.1 and the new drivers 4.11 and also third party omega drivers. Same problems always. I've played around with alot of bios options and can't get anywhere. It's set at 128Mb aperature, fast writes is off. When i go to play NHL it usually just quits and goes to windows, however sometimes it causes a stop error as well. My guess is that the card is messed, but I was running it before i put in my new motherboard and had none of these problems. As I understand some people use completely different drivers like nVidia drivers for ATI's is this true and can anyone recommend what to use. Any help would be great, thanks.

Yes, i no that card is bs, but can anything be done in it so it can run faster?

Sometimes after 5-10 mins of playing Joint Ops, the screen locks, and after 30 secs the comp restarts. What Is it? overheating? not overclocked! old? maybe. overused? maybe, too. maybe the game is a big load to the card.

Ok back to topic, if anyone knows how to speed it up (not to overclock).

And if u guys think there cant be anything done to it, tell me how many mhz can i overclock it. it has 200/200mhz, heatsink, no fan. the exact model of the card is Gigabyte Radeon 9200SE 64MB GV-R92S64T.

Please need help.
If anyone knows of a software that tells me what problems does my card has plz let me know of it.

A:Radeon 9200SE 64mb tips plz

I dont think theres anyway to make it faster without overclocking, excluding a set of drivers that performs better with your card (possibly an older set, the newer sets are more focused on the newer cards).

And the restarting could be your cpu not your videocard/gpu.

I have two cards ATI Radeon 9200se and Geforce Fx5200.Both are of 128 mb. Which one is better.I want to replace one of them.

One more thing i also want to buy a good 3d card (better than ATI 9200 and Fx 5200) but i have a limited money so plz tell me which one is better for me. I have a motherboard with agp 4x.

A:[HELP] Which is better Radeon 9200se or Geforce Fx5200.

Both the 9200se and 5200fx are obnoxiously obsolete by today's standards. It's really a toss-up, with the 5200fx likely being a hair slower in some games, but offerring PS/VS2.0 (DX 9.0) whereas the 9200se offers PS/VS1.4 (DX8.1). So... it's up to you and your games. Both cards are severely fillrate and memory bandwidth strapped.

As far as a new videocard goes, the 6600GT is pretty hard to beat for an AGP system. If this is a tad out of your pricerange, the 9800 Pro has been reduced in price to staggering lows at NewEgg. I'd recommend a 9800 Pro from NewEgg (due to price vs. performance), or a 6600GT if you can afford one.

Hi, I have bought a ATI Radeion 9200se 128mb video card and have problems setting it up on my Asus A7V8X-MX motherboard. There is an onboard video card on this motherboard and I think I need to disable this card before the new card will work. However, I don't know how to disable the card in the BIOS. Under the Advanced tab > Chip Configuration, there is the option for setting VGA Share Memory Size; options are: 16mb, 32mb, and 64mb. In the motherboard manual, it says that there should also an option for 'disable'. Yet, I don't have that option. Is there any way I can disable the onboard card so I can install the new card? And are these options relevant to disabling the card:

AGP Fast Write: [Enable] / [Disable]
AGP Master 1 WS Read: [Enable] / [Disable]
AGP 1 WS Write: [Enable] / [Disable]

>>There is an AGP slot for this motherboard..My processor is AMD Barton 2500 and currently running Windows XP, 512MB DDR Ram. Thanks!

Hiya guys. Im new here!

Well I have the following problem.... In the device manager there is a yellow warning sign icon on my brand new RADEON 9200. I clicked on it twice and it said to go to Hardware Conflict Troubleshooter in Help code 12 (Resource conflicts). The Windows H.C. Troubleshooter couldnt help me. I took a screenshot of the "Resource Conflict" window, in hope that it would help you to solve my problem. It can be found here: http://members.chello.at/sladdi/ressourcen.JPG

I have the following system:
Pentium III 800MHz
256 MB RAM
VIA Mainboard 82C691 rev 194
3Com Network Ethernet card
Creative AudioPCI sound
OS: Windows XP 5.1
Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG (Date 04/06/00)

Some VgaSave driver had taken the RADEON's place. If I turn off the VgaSave and re-install the ATI drivers, it gives me a black screen (but the usual Windows sound works) and I have to re-install Windows all over.

I re-installed Windows twice today, I also installed the latest 4in1 drivers for the chipset, I tried to solve this problem with plugging the network card intro a lower PCI slot, I also downloaded the most recent drivers for the RADEON 9200, but I had no luck so far.

I would appreciate any help!!!

Hello all,
I recently got a new SATA hard drive, put Win XP on it, made it the boot drive and started downloading drivers, most of which installed all right. (I kept the old drive connected, but it's not set to be the boot drive.) The two problems I had were sound and video drivers - with sound, the system kept telling me I didn't have a card. So I pulled it out and put it in another PCI slot and then the system detected it and they lived happily ever after.

But with my ASUS Radeon 9200SE graphics card, the Microsoft drivers downloaded by default. Now when I try to install the latest drivers from the ASUS site, I get 'INF Error. Video Driver Not Found' followed a message about attempting to use VGA drivers first, followed by another message 'graphics card not found.' So I went to the ATI site and downloaded the latest drivers and they installed without a problem. So I tried the ASUS driver again, and I got the same errors. Clearly there's something wrong if it can't find my graphics card.

Here are my specs:

This one got me good, started 3 days ago from a acrobat page file.

My desktop takes forever to boot up(25-30 mins), when it does explorer does not start. (No icons, start menu, right clicky) Taskmgr does work, If I try and manually start explorer.exe I get access denied. I can not run msconfig, mbam, control panel, eset or any internet browsers. Ive attempted to boot in safe mode with networking, but the system just freezes and requires hard power reset. Ive tryed to do the rkill name change and mbam name change combinations all without luck (in safe mode and normal). rkill does run, however does not find any problems to terminate. mbam will not even install.

Not really sure what else to try at this point, any thought ideas?

ok first of all. i come to my computer and i see one of those fake "click hear to remove potential spyware" things that is actually malware itself. i ignored cuz i am smarter than that and i instead ran norton internet security. it told me it had removed a spy ware called "spyquake" but immediately after i dismissed the dialogue box i got a message saying that spyquake had been installed. i went to my start menu and sure enough "new programs installed" it was spyquake. i went to add/remove and removed it from there, and ran norton again. and again it said it removed it. then i tried my internet explorer and no response. nothing happened but my task manager displayed that internet explorer was running, but i couldnt see it anywhere. soon my task manager became disabled as well "by administrator." and the "shared" folder for limewire is full of about 700 things i never downloaded. they are things like cracks and patches for games and such, and i cant delete them because they're "in use." it was only in the past hour i discovered that netscape navigator was unharmed by all of this, and this is where i say HELP!!!!!!!!! i do not think that is is spyware quake but just spyquake. please respond quickly because i take this laptop to college on sunday!!!

atmclk.exe is definitely adware and it is related to spyware falcon and that family of browser hijacks. Here is link to information about that proces amtclk.exe infoIt appears you do indeed have a spyware quake hijack, among other things, based upon your symptoms. I suggest posting a HJT log in the "HJT logs and analysis' forum here at BC.Please read Prep Guide for Posting HJT LogsPlease follow these preparation directions exactly. Then run HJT and post the log it creates in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum, which is found at this link: HJT ForumDO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. An expert HJT helper will promptly respond to your post within a few days with instructions on how to fix your computer. NOTEOnce you have made your post, please do not add any replies to your post (don't bump it). HJT helpers look for posts with 0 replies to determine the proper order to help users. If you are interested in trying the self-help guide for removing spyware quake, that tutorial can be found at this link: How to Remove Spyware QuakeYou also said you are having a problem with Limewire. Just a tip: It's generally a good idea to make sure p2p programs are not running on startup if that is the case. It appears you may have more than one malware infection and there isn't much help we can provide through this forum. Please post a log in the HJT forum and we'll get your computer cleaned up

I am having a bunch of issues with my computer, and always, all the issues come at one time! I'll just start off by numbering them from most important to get fixed a.s.a.p. to the least important.

1. All of my Windows keep shutting themselves down! When I open Firefox sometimes it works for a few minutes, then all of a sudden just closes with no error or anything. Other times it has an error "Failure to initialize properly" (I will update this post with the exact error next time I open F.F.) other times when I click the Firefox shortcut on my desktop it will say "Firefox has encountered a problem" with the options to "Report Problem to Microsoft" "Dont Send". I put firefox in Safemode (through cmd prompt) and disabled all scripts and it still did the same thing in safemode. Now here's the catch. All of a sudden my MSN Messanger started doing the SAME thing. It terminates the whole program. It doesnt just sign out--it shuts down completely. Then I ****think**** that IE has done the same thing a couple of times now.

-This all started yesterday-- about 1 day after I updated I.E. to the newest version (from a very old version) and about 1 day after I updated my Firefox to the newest version (from the previous version)

Now this leads me to my next problem...

I updated I.E. for one reason. Whenever I am on a website all links, urls, anything that should be "clickable" is not clickable on I.E. --What happens is when ... Read more

The problems started a couple days ago. I needed to burn an ISO to a CD, and Img burn had always been such a nice program. I was a bit worried, but downloaded and installed it from one of the links on the Imgburn site.
The Windows 7 machine had no antivirus software on it (I know, but my worst problems have come with av installed) so I couldn't do a quick AVG scan.
So Im getting bombed with adware. I go to uninstall, and sure enough, a bunch of other stuff is on the machine. I try to uninstall, and the box pops up that says "do you want to allow this to make changes to your computer " comes up. I clicked "yes" at least once. I'm guessing that was a really bad idea?
I downloaded AVG, did a scan, found 11 things.
Last night I downloaded REVOUninstaller to get the other programs off. Even after that and another AVG scsn, I still had issues.
So I found a site about how to get rid of one of the remaining programs, and ran several scans, all of which found stuff on the first pass. Downloaded some off this site, and generally did almost all this:http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-playthru-player-ads/
So then I still need a burner, so I tried looking for a good copy of imgburn (I am wondering if it exists.) I went to Softonic, and it said something about problems with imgburn. So I thought something like, "oh good, a reputable site." That's when the problems really started.
I dowloaded the burner they recommended, AVG caught something. I think I tried it again, at one po... Read more

A:All Sorts O' Problems......

Do you know that Windows 7 is capable of burning ISOs without using a third party burner?
You can get a copy of ImgBurn without the bundled adware from Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once under the Utilities heading.
Are you still having problems with adware and or malware?

Well a few days ago I noticed that in the corner my Mcafee symbol had a little red circle x thing on it. It showed that my On access scan was disabled. I tried enabling it and it did not respond at all. I then tried to enable it using Windows Security Center and nothing again. So I restarted in safe mode and ran a full scan using Mcafee and it found nothing. I downloaded Spybot, and it wouldn't even start up. I downloaded Hijackthis and again it would not even start up. Now I noticed that whatever I have is also preventing Windows Defender to update as well. Some sort of virus has breached my security and I am scared at what it could do next. Any help would be great.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that it happens.

I have been away from my PC for a while. Its an old model, SP2, 512MB RAM.

I used it after a year and there are whole lots of problems. For start, it says, "Windows - No Disk" error. Then whenever I try to run NFS MW or LOTR Fellowship (dont mock me), both come out with a blank black screen and then nothing happens. I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to get out.

FM09 runs smoothly though. Running Dxdiag shows no problem.

The virus database is out-of-date but scanning has not solved any problems.

I can't even configure the Registry.

C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0\avp.exe

I believe it would be best to uninstall Symantec (Norton) fully

Hi there,

Firstly, I am running Windows XP.

I seem be to be infected with the msb.exe virus as it is showing in my processes. I can run Malwarebytes the first time I run it but it shuts down when running a scan. Then I try to re-open it and I always gets the error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". I used inherit.exe to sucessfully open Malwarebytes but the same problem re-occurs when I run a scan - it just shut downs. This is also the case for Spybot S&D and a couple of other programs.

In addition to this, it sometimes plays an audio file in the background even though I have no applications open, and my PC is running considerably slower.

I followed the instructions and downloaded dds.scr to my desktop, ran it, but no log files were generated. I have no script blocker as far as I know.

I ran GMER Rootkit Scanner twice. It shut down both times when it was more than half way through the scan.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Hey, this computer is really messed up. When I try and run IE it usually freezes up the first time so I have to end-task it. The second attempt does the same thing, only after I end-task it I have to end-task explorer.exe and then run it again. Then after that I can make a third attempt on IE and while its loading the homepage (which it really isn't), if I tell it to go to another page instead, it will. Thus after 5 minutes I can finally surf the web. I've run Ad-Aware and Spybot but I think I still need some help if someone doesn't mind.

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, do the following:
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and... Read more

Ever since I've gotten this thing (Gateway POS laptop), it's had a lot of problems. Wireless always cuts on and off for no reason, and the connection would seemingly just stop randomly, and nothing I could do would fix it until I restarted. It would always say that I'm connected, it just wouldn't actually do anything. Early last year, the whole harddrive crashed and there was nothing I could do to save it. I sent it to the company and they replaced it. When I was trying to fix it by their directions, there were all these clicking noises inside of the system.

Sunday night, that started to happen again. It's still running obviously, but it's not "working." It takes over 5 minutes to boot up now... before this, it was the fastest loading thing I've ever used. Also, internet usually doesn't work at all now. I turn it on and off until I finally get lucky. Everything runs incredibly slow and the comp will freeze up for a few seconds when I try to close a window or even click on the Start menu. Even on these lucky times, it will only last a couple minutes before the freaking thing just decides to stop working again.

I've used Ad-Aware, Spybot, AVG, and HouseCall. The latter did find some infected Java files (odd) but I deleted those, and now I can say that none of the programs find anything wrong. If anybody has some advice on what it could be, how it could be fixed, anything at all... I would be very greatful.
