I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Closing Windows 10, a Windows alert says Elara app is delaying the shutdown and asked me to kill it. After few seconds this app finally closed.

I don't have any app with this name and I can't find any file on my hd with this name. I've found in Google Elara app is a virus, but there are really few results and info about Elara.

I used MBAM (latest version and updated db) but my pc is clear.

Any hint?

By the way Windows 10 is slowing down my PC. I'm not 100% sure but maybe Windows 10 installed new Toshiba apps (crapware?) on my Toshiba notebook. How can I find PUPs slowing down my PC?

A:Elara app delaying windows 10 closing

Also just encountered this on Windows 10. Wondering what Elara is. Tried defender and MBAM, TDSS, and ADW which all came back clean.

Edit: I just noticed that in my task manager my "Alps pointing device driver" has the same icon that Elara had when it sais it was preventing my system from shutting down. Perhaps not a virus?

Hi ! We are using Windows XP and don't know if it is possible to do this ?

We have some programs starting up as Windows Services and some are just put in as Startup tasks. Our problem is that one of the Startup programs depends on one of the services to finish before it can start. The Startup program is being launched first, though !

Is there any way to set up a dependency so that the Startup program will wait for the service to start ? Or is that the right approach at all ?

Thanks in advance for any help !!

Like say you are multitasking and you have 4 windows open on the task bar. You switch from one to another, yet when you click, sometimes a graphic from one menu or window will freeze somewhat or delay or get choppy , not instant.

What causes this just curious. Any way to fix this at all or prevent it cause it drives me absolute nuts

A:What causes windows to open and close slowly/delaying

Generally it is a sign your system resources are at max and struggling to keep up. Some applications are CPU hogs and you may have ookaboodles of memory etc, but the CPU is tied up and you just have to wait until it's digested the previous applications requests. Regular maintenace helps at times, run a defrag and if your memory is marginal, some folks get a bit of improvement by running memory defrag utilities... I wouldnt recommend that unless you are desperate. If all else fails, a good dose of FDISK Oil will get the old fellow regular again.

Hello!
I've spent the past two days scouring this site, among others, for an answer.  Here is my situation:
200+ remote sites attempting to update Windows without affecting the store.  Reboots cause the Front of House system to be unavailable. We have to put them in to backup mode in order to perform updates that last longer than 5 minutes.
Our current way is that a technician logs in to the store, enables windows update, downloads and installs the pending updates.  Once they are installed Windows Update prompts that the PC needs to be restarted.  The restart is scheduled for the
next day at 9 AM.  The technician chooses postpone (4 hours is default).
Problem is that the manager finds the prompt 4 hours later and chooses to restart the system.  This takes down their Front of House system and panic ensues.  Of course this is at midnight when no tech is working and causes an "emergency"
call and our on call team needing to respond.

This is what i'm looking for:
1.  How can I postpone the restart reminder after updates are installed past the 4 hour window? I attempted to increase the restart reminder to 1440 minutes through Group Policy, but it requires that the windows update be set to automatically download/install
on a schedule.  We do not want daily downloads/installs on these systems.
2.  I cannot have windows update enabled with updates being auto downloaded/install... Read more

Since Tuesday I've been having problem with my PC (Windows 7 64 bit).

Everytime I try to open a program, it automatically closes (It doesn't open but I can see in task manager that it was launched) it reaches 1 308 K - similar number and it closes.

Startup programs such as Avira don't start when the PC does.

I tried going in Safemode with networking and open MalwareBytes and ESET Scanner, it worked and detected a virus called 'Deals' and it took care of it but it still doesn't work.

(I currently can only use the PC while in Safemode.)

Malware bytes reported no malwares since last scan - I don't have a log but I could scan again if it's really needed.

Hello everybody! I hope all is well wherever you are!

I am having an issue with the latest, major windows 10 update.

When I originally tried to download the thing I lost WiFi connection very briefly. (I know school boy error using WiFi while updating)

Now when I try to update it stops at 80% and comes up with the message 'We cant install updates because other updates are in progress.' Before this it came up with ERROR 0xc1900107.

No other updates are running (as far as I can tell) I also ran system file checker which came back fine.

I finally downloaded the update assistant but it doesn't work that way either.

Any help would be really appreciated!

I've been trying for weeks to upgrade to Windows 10 1803, it always rolls back at about 32% Today I tried a clean install of 1803 from a USB stick. It installed just fine, but then it started installing drivers for unknown devices and after installing the Intel HD driver for the video card the system became unstable with a PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA bluescreen crashing the machine after booting up. It would appear the problem may be with the Intel HD Graphics driver which hasn't been updated in some time. Anyone managed to get 1803 running successfully on B50-30? Thanks

I was running a program on my Windows 10 computer Build 1709 that was located on my Windows 2003 server. The executable was located on the server. I upgraded to 1803 and it no longer works. A second computer did the same thing and I was able to go back to build 1709 and it started working again. I can't go back on the computer that still has 1803 because it's been more than 10 days or 7 or whatever. Research was pointing to the probability it was an SMB share issue. I saw that supposedly 1803 does not support SMBV1 which is what Server 2003 is using. However, I go into the Windows features settings and is shows SMBv1 checked off. When I run -get smbconfiguration or whatever in powershell it returns the version as 1.5. Anyway, I also saw some suggest to install AVG or Avast which disables Defender. I've done that and did not work. I've tried running it in compatibility mode and that didn't work. Looking for suggestions. If it is an SMB issue, there is no way we are upgrading the server at this time. I can resinstall Windows on the workstation if I have to, but I would love to avoid it enough that I joined this site and posted for the first time hoping someone can offer another suggestion. Thanks.

I have multiple Lenovo laptops in the family. I recently noticed a Z580 had not had any OS updates since December 2017. So I fiddled with it some (it has been running Windows 10 for a couple of years without issue) and upgraded to Win10 1803. This was a huge mistake as I was unaware that the Z580 has hardware components not compatible with Win 10... even though it's been running Win10 for years. After the upgrade to 1803, the PC boots to a blue screenn where it wants me to choose the system language, etc. IE, it has totally lost the operating system and it can't find anything to roll back to in recovery. I was perfectly happy with Win 8.1 and only upgraded to Win10 figuring it was an inevitable upgrade. I plan to replace the HDD with a SSD and believe I can get the data from the HDD. But I"m stumped as to what OS I should put back on the Z580, since it came preinstalled. Is the Windows key embedded in the ROM? I don't have a Windows key for this 5 year old laptop and don't recall seeing one when we bought it. Any suggestions?

In April 2018 Windows 10 Pro tried to install the functional update 1803 on my Lenovo T460 with no luck. Error 0xc1900101. In the settings I delayed the functional updates for 365 days. Since May 2019 Windows tries to make this update again with the same Error 0xc1900101. Windows downloads the update, installs it and after the error restores the old windows version. After 10 minutes this procedure starts again, and so on. For the past  3 months I have tried every suggested solution imaginable, expending literally dozens of hours  to try to install Feature Updates to upgrade my Windows 10 Pro from v.1607 to v1803 as repeatedly required by Microsoft. The situation is now very urgent, they inform me, but I am beginning to despair. The installation process always closes with a not very helpful  "Update Failed to install".  It may be that the error could lie with Lenovo: that the  M91p was not tested and approved for compatibility with the newest MS OS software, see: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/check-this-list-to-dete... I think that there must be others with the same problem and that there might just be a usable solution available, but in view of the following I am not over-optimistic: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Windows-10-version-1803-kills-our-computers/m-p/4070948#M654... Is there really no way out other than to switch to another OS because Lenovo might be at fault?  After 30-odd years of Windows, I've got used to using it!  My Lenovo present OS combination still runs fine, but now I am confronted with the equally serious problem that my Adobe Lightroom no longer functions, because it requires a higher OS version than my apparently un-updatable Windows 10 v 1607. What would be the best alternative OS? We just received L580 laptops and i have installed Windows 10 1803 version on it. Fn buttons F1-F6 work just fine without installing anything else (volume, brightness). But switching projector mode and further buttons do not work. I have tried to install Hotkey Feature Integration 9.0.1.6. Installation itself behaves weirdly, so i'm not sure it actually installs. It shows me last screen with Finish button and a checkbox "Install Hotkey Feature Integration" now. I leave this checkbox checked and press Finish. Cursor blinks a few times and sometimes it says that the command was completed successfully, sometimes not. I don't see anything installed in the Programs & Features list. Buttons do not work still. Same with Lenovo P71 model. Is this driver compatible with 1803 version? Maybe i need to install some additional Lenovo software/drivers to make these buttons work? Actually, i only need projector mode button to work.
