APPCRASH C0000005 error, almost every game

Q: APPCRASH C0000005 error, almost every game

I'm running Windows 7 Home, 64 bit
Laptop with i7 2.4 gHz and nVidia GeForce GT 630M, 1 GB memory, and 6 GB RAM.

Almost all games do not work on my computer. I've been trying to install a new game, and everything crashes instantly. The installers for each game also crash; some games I was able to install through a torrent or direct download client. However they all crash when I open them. For example, Raiderz, Tera, Dragons Nest, and C9 downloaders all crashed for me. C9 didn't work for me after I had installed it (instant crash with C0000005 error) and it didn't work through steam either (same error). They close instantly, before I am able to interact with the window. Pando Media Booster and Nexon Game Manager also crash with this same error.

I did manage to get Raiderz to work after I direct downloaded a set up and installed that. However, C9 still didn't even after I had installed it.

I've tried changing compatibility modes and running as administrator. I also updated my DirectX and my video card drivers.

Can anyone resolve this issue? Or direct me to a place where it has been solidly resolved? I've been researching this problem all day, to no avail.

Perhaps some games that do work may help: Dota 2 and League of Legends are games I've played recently that will work.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Dear all,

I have some random crashing going on and I have no idea what to do anymore.

Error messages show Kernelbase.dll and C0000005. The crashes happen while playing different games. So far no BSOD, just crash to windows. BSOD happened before reinstalling windows and replacing my ram and HDD.

Besides that, when starting my PC I have to choose between 2 versions of Windows 7. This, after formatting the HDD that the previous version was installed on. only after formatting the HDD I installed a fresh version of windows 7 on a newly bought SSD. When going in windows using the 1st option of the 2 windows 7 options I can pick, it also showed the HDD to be empty in windows.

I also bought new 16GB ram to make sure its not defective memory.

Besides the above, I also have:
- Ran CCleaner and Registry mechanic until no errors were shown anymore.

My system:

Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Evo
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 (latest drivers)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
SSD: Sandisk 128 GB
RAM: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL10 DIMM (Kit of 2) XMP HyperX Blu

I am running a program on two seprate datasets which calls a script in a .exe format. The crash only happens when I try to run on the larger of the two. I have read through many of the c0000005 posts and have run the memory checker (no problems) scannow (no problems) and restored to a point when I thought it last worked. Is this just an out of memory crash? The smaller of the datasets runs just fine. I have not had this error in any other capacity on this machine.

Thank you

I run Windows 7 Pro and I am constantly being kicked out of games. This also happens on XP. On XP I am dumped on the desktop without warning or error messages. On Win7 at least I get error messages. To try and remedy the problem I have replaced my video card, tested my ram individually, updated all drivers including the chipset and bios and got a new power source. This happens with most of the games I try to play including but not limited to:

Dungeon Defenders
Dark Age of Camelot
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Heroes of Might and Magic V
Dead Island
Magicka
Overlord
Overlord II
The Witcher 2

Nix131,

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

We don't recommend the use of registry cleaners here. There's a pinned topic at the top of this forum that explains why.

The error occurs while msvbvm60.dll is accessing memory improperly.
Does the application crash and go away - or does it stay running and not doing anything?

If the latter, right click on the psFamilyDir.exe process in Task Manager...Processes tab and select "Create dump file". This will generate a dump file that we can analyze. It'll be pretty big, so open up a free account at http://www.box.net, share it, then post a link to it here (so we can download and analyze it). This is only good if the psFamilyDir.exe process remains after the crash.

If not, then I'd suggest uninstalling all of the Microsoft .NET stuff in Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program. Then visit Windows Update and reinstall it (it'll likely be under Optional Updates).

If you have any problems with this, post back and we'll see what else we can do.

Hello and thanks for reading,

I have been having issues playing games with my PC. It does, however, seem to only happen with graphically intensive games. As far as my computer knowledge, I consider myself above average but definitely not an expert. I have read many threads and performed all of the suggested fixes to no avail. I finally decided to post my own thread. I have noticed that most, but not all, of my crashes have the c0000005 exception code. Sometimes I will just get CTD "(Program) has stopped working..."

I have:
Ran sfc /scannow
Ran disc scan
Ran Registry cleaner
Ran driver scanner
Updated all drivers (audio, video, Bios, etc)
Rolled back video drivers to older version
Ran Malware software
Ran Antivirus scan
Tried playing with all background programs closed
Tried playing with all services except microsoft ones turned off
Removed all browser plug-ins
Tried playing with Antivirus/firewall off

And heres the craziest thing, I got so fed up that I even completely reinstalled Windows on my HD, starting new and fresh. Installed my latest game (Guild Wars 2), was able to play a few hours but then...crash. This is starting to make me think its a Hardware issue, or Nvidia's drivers are simply no good.

On the hardware side, I have:
Visually inspected all circuits and connections
Inspected CPU pins
Ran Memtest 86+ on each stick individually, then again with all 4 sticks in overnight. There were no problems detected.

Hi everyone.

I've been strugling with this error in many games for some time. I haven't been able to find a trigger for the faults. A game like The Witcher crashes after 2-3 minutes, Divinity Original Sin worked for 2 hours, but after reaching a certain point it crashes every 5 minutes, Football Manager works without problem unless I go on holiday in which case it crashes after 30 seconds.

I think everything works in fail safe mode, as I was able to play the witcher for approx 10 minutes without problems.

What I have tried:

Memtest86 - no errors
Tried three different video drivers
Reinstalled games
Reinstalled Windows
Probably more, that I can't remember from the top of my head .

The gfx is a AMD 7850 Tahiti LE, which normally is overclocked, but the error persist even when it is not.

Hello all, I'm new to the forums here as I can normally troubleshoot and problems myself, but I've been having a hard time resolving this issue.

I've recently upgraded my motherboard, processor and RAM to an ASUS Z87-K, Intel i5-4670K, and Corsair XMS3 1x8GB, and ever since I have been experiencing what appear to be video card related crashes. I am using a Zotac Geforce GTX 560 AMP, and a Corsair 750w PSU and did not have issues before the upgrade. The computer will crash to desktop while playing high performance games, sometimes almost immediately, sometimes after an hour or two. This results in an event log message like this:

Every time i try to acces the slideshow application in the photoshops elements i get an error warning. Closing Photoshop elements. Adobe Photoshop Elements has encountered a problem and needs to close. Error code C0000005 Address 60cbb311, or 60cbb2fi. Then the program terminates. I have tried repairing the program, uninstalled it and reinstalled it all with no effect. The address numbers change but that's it..otherwise the program seems to work. As long as i don't try to access the slideshow portion. I've also noticed that my Ms Picture it! Publishing Platinum is no longer working either. Tried scanning for virus's and the like, it comes up clean. I have an older pc and its running windows xp. I know that the slideshow part of the program did work at one time but i never really used it besides toying with it until lately..the photoshop program is an older one but i bought it outright, it had never been installed until i put it on my pc. Any ideas or help would be appreicated, thanks in advance.

I know this sub-forum is normally used for BSOD issues, but I'm not sure if this issue fits in the other sub-forums any better than this one.

For at least a month now, various programs have been crashing with error code c0000005, and I'm not sure how to fix the issue.

I've already run Memtest86 a few times, and I received no errors from the tests I ran.

I've uploaded the latest minidump crash from a program called MusicBee (I no longer have the other minidumps), along with the rest of the files produced from DM Log Collector Tool (HOME-Fri_07_22_2016__12235_99.zip).

NeighborI tried to add a Skype account recently.  Now internet explorer will not connect to his isp so that he can retrieve his email...apparently something went astray in his registry.  I do not know whether the addition of the Skype account caused this or what.  Trying to help.  Tried CCcleaner with no result.  Ran Malwarebytes.  Anyone else had this problem?

A:internet explorer will not connect to my isp Error c0000005

This sounds most unusual, a lot of problems which might not be related or might have happened at the same time by coincidence. Has a browser other than IE been tried? Have other computers attempted to connect along the same connection?
Skype is simply a video over internet protocol VOIP program, it might increase your bandwidth use quite a bit but shouldn't cause any other issues with general connectivity.

My computer froze and when i restarted, i keep getting this error after the Windows startup logo
STOP: c0000005 The instruction at 0x%08lx referenced memory at 0x%08lx. The memory could not be %s

I tried the Startup Recovery but im stuck in a loop. Nothing gets fixed
I tried using bootrec to fix the MBR and still nothing
This isnt a hardware issue. I used another hard drive and the computer works fine. The original hard drive itself is healthy when tested using a utility. I even made a clone of the original hard drive and the cloned drive also displays the same problem

Please help?

I've been getting this error for a couple of months, over 20 times in all. The two common situations in which it usually happens are:
1) Browsing in Chrome, particularly when there are many windows and tabs open.
2) While computer is idle.
Except for the very first time this happened, it points to file aswSnx.sys, address FFFFF8800????AD1, where the ???? can vary

I attach the SFdebug file.

A:BSOD with several Chrome windows, error 3B (C0000005, ...

All of the crashes I saw point to Avast as the culprit. Looking at the module in particular, it's up to date, but it's still the cause nonetheless.

Personally, I wouldn't use Avast. If you have to run antivirus (I don't run any) then use something that has hundreds of millions of engineering dollars behind it. Such as McAfee or Symantec. I know these comments will likely get me a lot of heat, but they're just my opinion.

If you want to post links to some full memory dumps I'd be happy to look further to see if another driver might be stepping on top of the Avast driver. As it is right now, some action in user mode invokes a call to aswSnx.sys (likely through services.exe) which results in an unrecoverable exception.

It's this instruction here that causes the bugcheck:

aswSnx+0x2cad1:

Unfortunately the code referenced is paged out.

Hi, well there is an error (0*c0000005) which pops up every time i try to install a new app and also pop up on regular basis for a antivirus program i use. so i go through sfc scan to deal with this. sfc scan shows the
following result :  "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."
so i go to the SFC details to check the corrupted files and i found multiple files which says:
1) cannot repair member file
2) could not reproject corrupted files
On the end of both these lines following text was written: "Hash mismatch"
what should i do now?
Somebody help please!

Hi, all of your minidumps point to ntkrpamp.exe which is a Windows file. Crashes in that file are usually from faulty memory. Download Mem test from the downloads section and let it run overnight. If you find errors remove one memory module at a time and run the test again to determine which module is faulty.

Also read this...... If you didn't already.

Hi all,

One of our users is on a Vista PC on our work domain. He has a Sharp MX-2700N (Colour Network printer/copier/scanner) multi-function added, which defaults to B&W prints. When he opens up word, and goes to print properties to change to colour printing, word crashes and we get the following error codes shown in the attached jpeg images...

...our IT team is a bit baffled, does anyone have any ideas or experienced a similar or same problem?

Any help much appreciated as we only have 3 Vista PC's out of a domain network of over 500 PCs!

Cheers.

It looks like the apps crashed... I tried to reinstall them.. but again with nothing more but failure... I have also tried to use some free registry cleaner software but again it's not an answer to my problem... I've seen some people also encounter this problem....system restore, re-installing are also not the answer for this problem...., I just bought my laptop, Toshiba Qosmio F750, few months ago, and I encounter with this kind of problem which I think it's not a simple problem... .I use norton antivirus.... I've run the clean boot but i didn't help.... I tried to reregister the kernelbase.dll....it said," the module "kernelbase.dll" was loaded but the entry point Dllregisterserver was not found. Make sure that "kernelbase.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again." And just now I tried a system restore to 3 days ago... It failed... As something in "temp" folder can't be found.... I once had blue screen too... What is happening exactly? can anyone help me?

If you installed Maxtor software onto the Windows 7 system - remove it.

You don't need the backup software installed to use the external HDD. See if you can access the files individually.

Hello,After a gnarly set of malware and trojans and hijacks, I used a combo of HiJack This, Spybot SD, AVG Free, RKill, and Malwarebytes to get my computer functional. Now, it finally boots up to a normal-looking Windows Vista, but I suffer form the following 2 issues:1) Malwarebytes finds C:\\Windows\System32\certstore.dat2) I get a Microsoft random error: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: svchost.exe Application Version: 6.0.6001.18000 Application Timestamp: 4b18b14e Fault Module Name: svchost.exe Fault Module Version: 6.0.6001.18000 Fault Module Timestamp: 4b18b14e Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000019fc OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: e3cf Additional Information 2: d42237859197873da486d40409b96ff9 Additional Information 3: 49ce Additional Information 4: f92c4ab1e924b858d3b8926ed7793d80---------------------Other items of importance:1) My computer: Windows Vista, 32 bit, SP1 This was a built computer from Sweetwater Sounds, used for music recording and such2) In safe mode, the appcrash does not occur.3) I did install RKill and Malwarebytes via the Bleeping computer instructions. 4) I used the most up to date versions of all software mentioned5) I also uninstalled my only background running virus program (AVG) in case that was causing a false (+), but that did nothing.6) When I use Malwarebytes to remove the certstore.dat, it say... Here's an update:

After use of a few programs, it's mostly cleared up.

In safe mode, the following programs detect no infection:
* Malwarebytes (paid version)
* Superantispyware (free)
* AVG (free) but doesn't work so great in safe mode
* Spybot Search and Destroy

However, in regular running mode, with Malware bytes running in the background, it's blocking random websites from opening up, but I can't figure out where the infection is.....
Any ideas?

....assuming it doesn't just freeze upon starting, that is. This has never happened to me before with this program. It's found a ton of nasties in the past, so I'm assuming that something else is still on my computer and trying like mad to avoid detection.

Oddly, a couple weeks before this, I tried updating TDSS Killer to version 2.7 and it wouldn't even open...no further updates will open for me either. I wonder if there's some connection.

Avast, Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware and Spybot S&D all come up clean. Norman, Housecall and ESET online scanners show nothing. The only wierd thing is an alert I got from MJ Registry Watcher that happened as I tried to use Dr. Web today (something I've never seen in connection with the latter prior to these issues). No idea on this, but it looks kinda fishy:

I have Windows Vista SP2, running on an Acer Aspire 4730Z, 32-bit OS. My biggest problem right now is that I cannot disable tapping because I can't get into my mouse options. Somehow, during a windows update (which doesn't change during any of the rollbacks I've done) my mouse options became inaccessible.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried installing a different version of the Synaptics driver, and I tried installing the other acceptable touchpad driver for the Acer Aspire (Alps). The Alps driver didn't work at all and the other versions of Synaptics were worse.

When I uninstall, there are a ton of locked registry keys that stay in the registry and get in the way of a clean new install. I think this might be part of the problem. Even if I change ownership and permissions, I can't seem to get rid of them. I've only tried it with one of them, but I assume the same would go with the whole batch in that location and I don't know if that would help or hurt anyway. I have run sfc/scannow since I didn't think it would hurt anything, but it didn't fix anything. I also ran chkdsk /r and that didn't seem to change or find anything either.

I have searched this topic pretty thoroughly online and, although others have had similar errors and even the same combinations of programs causing errors, none of the suggested fixes have worked for me so far. I need new suggestions.

A possibly related problem is that I keep getting a security ... Read more

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago I purchased Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (my laptop's specs aren't amazing), and everything was working perfectly up until a few days ago. I can access the main menu, and play a little bit of a game in exhibition mode, but at certain stages the game becomes unresponsive and I have to manually shut it down using the task manager. I've looked around for a few solutions, but none have worked so far. This is the most common error message:

Description:
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

I'm using Vista, and I'd be happy to provide any more information if needed. I was really enjoying this game until it crashed. If anyone could help, I'd be extremely grateful!

What should I do to resolve this or I do not need to do anything?
